Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Hi I am building a system, first timer. And I just need a little advice with a couple of components I have chosen for this build. I am using as that title says an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 I'm gonna team this up with a AMD FX 9370 processor, 16GB ram of
corsair dominator, a notcua after market heat sink and a Nvidia GTX 770 GPU. My question is will windows 7 64bit home premium work well with this n support my 16Gigs of ram?... How can I check a QVL for this OS?. Thanks for taking time to read and hopefully
helping guys

* Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to OS limitation, when installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, Windows® 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Install a 64-bit Windows® OS when you want to install 4GB or more memory on the motherboard.
* Due to CPU spec., AMD 100 series CPUs support up to DDR3 1066MHz. With ASUS design, this motherboard can support up to DDR3 1333MHz.

Yes, that RAM will fit in your motherboard. At $109, it's well worth it to get 2 kits to get 24GB... if your budget allows.

  • ASUS SABERTOOTH P67 B3 Revision Motherboard for CS5?

Good afternoon and Happy Holidays to all...
I've been lurking this forum for at least 3 weeks now amongst others to soak up as much as I could regarding my new endeavor of video recording/editing.  I'm looking to have a Cpu build which would be used to run Adobe CS5. Mainly Premiere, Photoshop, AE, in addition to music production software as well.  The unit will double for editing, and audio recordings and productions.  Specs for music production are very minimal when compared to the builds for video editing, so I'm building with the priority being running the Adobe suite because the music programs such as Ableton and Propellerhead Reason can be run smoothly on a dirt cpu...
These are the specs and build I have w/ assistance from the salesperson at Comp USA.  I have never built, so I'd rather pay 180.00 for someone to build for me before I ruin $1,600 worth of parts.  In addition, the warranty on their custom builds are quite cheap as well.  I've done extensive research, and the only snag for me is the "newness" or lack of reviews for this motherboard w/ Adobe Premiere.  I've noticed the GTX 560Ti isn't on the list of Adobe's list of approved NVIDIA cards, but yet it comes highly recommended, so I should be able to pull off the hack.   Any guidance or changes recommended?
    processor: i7 2600K
mobo: ASUS P67 Sabertooth B3 Revision
    GPU: GTX 560Ti 2TB
    PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series 850W
HDD: Not Sure/ but at least 2x1 TB Drives AND 1 500 GB Drives for OS and Programs
RAM: CORSAIR or G.Skill 16 GB Ram
optical drive: Not sure yet @ least $100
case: COOLER MASTER (Full size) not sure what model...
We totalled out at around 1800'ish w/ warranty and build total.
    Thanx in advance!!

    Brian,
I build my own, and admittedly I enjoy it.
From that experience though I can share that building out a PC to run Adobe well on AVCHD codec materials (i.e. HD video, DSLR video, etc.) is not quick and is not easy. Also, I'd estimate only about 50% of the effort is spent finalizing budget, selecting hardware, ordering parts, assembling the PC, and loading Windows. Then, count on about the same amount of time to tweak, tune, etc. to get Adobe really humming. Finally, teams like Best Buy's Geek Squad, Dell's sales team, and CompUSA technicians are very unlikely to be able to help you much with this.
So, where am I going with this... If you (or anyone lurking this hardware forum) wants to pay someone to assemble parts that you select I would suggest paying more and getting WAY more by going with ADK.
Their "value add" can really make your life better!
Do post back if you really do want to pay someone to do the build and will look forward to spending 4 to 8 hours to do the rest of the setup - indeed with awesome help from this forum - and I'm sure you get some attentive response regarding the hardware list.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • After encoding a sequence, music audio (Track 1) is fine, but speech audio (Track 2) is sped up and crackling.

    Hello forumites,
So I've run into an odd problem I haven't experienced before. I exported my docu film last night. I have my music audio on A1 and speech audio on A2 in the timeline. When reviewing it, the music audio plays back fine, but the speech audio is playing back slightly fast (resulting in a bit of a chipmunk effect) and it's crackling (possibly because of the speed-up). The video appears to be in sync with this weird speed-up.
I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro and the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Although this is happening on two different systems, here are my computer specs.
    PC 1:
    Custom built desktop
    CPU: FX-8350 4 GHz
    Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R.2
    Memory: 16 GB DDR3
SSD: 256 GB Samsung 840 EVO (Primary)
HDD: 2 TB WD Red (Data)
GPU: 2x Radeon 6950 (CrossFireX mode)
    PC 2:
    ASUS G53S laptop
    CPU: Core i7-2830QM 2 GHz
    Memory: 6 GB DDR3
SSD: 120 GB Crucial M4 (Primary)
    HDD: Seagate 500 GB (Data)
    GPU: GeForce 460M
I did a bit of troubleshooting and thought that perhaps I nested sequences too many times. So, I did a few test renders from the ground up on each sequence where the nesting gets deeper. I got up to two nesting levels (where one sequence has a nested sequence which contains a nested sequence - Sequence-ception ) with all audio rendered normally.
However, the next nesting level resulted in the audio issue. So, I copied and pasted the timeline from the previous sequence to the current sequence, overwriting the nested timeline. Oddly enough, it still caused the problematic audio, which has me thinking that it's not related to nested sequences after all.
Keep in mind that playback inside Premiere works fine. I even created a new sequence from scratch into which to paste the timeline. Also, encoding using different codecs didn't make a difference. Of course, I also did the basic things and updated my video card drivers, restarted my computer, uninstalled/reinstalled Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, and tried encoding without GPU hardware acceleration.
Here are some 5-second DNxHD renders to get a grasp of what the results are.
    Double Nested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xp50qbm48gjupd/Double%20Nested.mxf?dl=0 (Good audio)
Triple Nested: Dropbox - Triple Nested.mxf (Bad audio)
I should probably mention that I configured symbolic links to remap the Users folder to my data drive, as that has been known to cause some problems with Windows, but I made sure to link all the assets in my project using the actual file paths rather than the symlinks. Also, I've been rendering other projects prior to the previous patch with this setup and didn't experience any issues.
Has this happened to anybody else as well? I did some searching for this issue but I'm apparently the only one. I'm just hoping this is some weird bug introduced in the last patch.

That may be so, but why even have that feature if one can't even take full advantage of it? I'll be asking Adobe that if I don't get many suggestions or input here.
    Thanks for responding, though!

  • Photoshop CC & CS6 "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

So apparently quite a few people have been getting this error message but not necessarily for my unique predicament. I am using an early 2011 Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.1 and I'm using Photoshop CC 14.2.0. Whenever I try to open a video file I get the error message. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, PRAM reset, preference reset—no fix. Even loaded CS6 13.1.2—have the same issue as well as whenever it opens. Even tried it on a newer macbook pro—same issue. Calling Tech support wasted over 4 hours of my life. Please help! Have assignments to do. Thanks.

Well, what do you need to know about my system?
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    12GBs DDR3 RAM
AMD Phenom II x6 3.2GHz CPU
    ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
EVGA Nvidia GTX 570 2.5GB Edition
Like I said, this happens simply whenever I open Photoshop. I can click the pinned icon on the Taskbar; launch it from RocketDock; open it in the Start Menu; or open it by double-clicking a PSD file. Regardless of how I open it, it displays that error message.

  • Arch completely freezes when I run certain applications

Arch completely freezes when I open Steam or when I attempt to play a YouTube video. They will open, but shortly thereafter Arch will freeze entirely and the only solution is to hold down the power button on my computer.
    My computer's specs:
    CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 520
    Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Thank you in advance for your help.

I checked systemd's journal and the consistent factor that stands out in the entries is the first thing on every list: "Failed to open private bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /run/user/1000/dbus/user_bus_socket: No such file or directory"
As for the problems with the Nvidia drivers, I have no idea. Although, after a quick search on Google, I've found that apparently I'm not the only one with similar issues.
    Thank you for replying.
EDIT: I now have the Nvidia drivers installed. I used a patch that I found deep within the Nvidia forums. Now I'm going to try the applications out to see if they work.

    Hi Dw3xx,
    Unusual problem,my suggestion is  :
uninstall any anti-virus software then try to create the virtual switch
insert Win8 media and fix OS

  • [SOLVED] Failed to install override security policy

    Hi,
I am trying to install Arch linux in UEFI in a dual boot setup with Windows 8.1. I already have the Windows OS installed, but every time I go to boot from the Arch installation CD I made using the latest .iso download (2013.12.01), I get the following:
    ERROR
Failed to install override security policy: (14) not found
I hit return on the "OK", (the only available option), and the error reappears once again. After I hit return for a second time, the installation quits and I am returned to a normal Windows boot. This error happens right at the very start, I literally tell my computer to boot from the CD drive and then straight away the error appears.
I have tried the solution suggested here:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=169354
(i.e. replacing the bootx64.efi with the loader.efi file (but renamed of course), in the EFI/BOOT/ directory of the iso), and I have tried using other versions of the iso (specifically 2013.10.01) as well as re downloading and re burning the most recent iso. All of these have been to no avail.
I am running an ASUS Sabbertooth 990FX (Rev 1.01), which I know to be an UEFI board. Also, I was able to install Windows 8.1 in UEFI just fine.
Any thoughts about what the problem may be?
PS: Merry Christmas to you all!
    -Ryan
    --- SOLUTION ---
Download the Arch Linux variant of rEFInd, from http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/getting.html. Then, install as per the instructions for you particular operating system and needs; follow the following: http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/installing.html.
Reboot. Next time your computer starts, after the POST is completed, instead of booting into your normal operating system/boot loader, rEFInd should load instead. It will search for bootable media and operating systems automatically, and present you with a list of options. Choose the one corresponding to your CD/DVD/flash drive (depending on your installation medium). It should then boot in UEFI.
Once you are prompted with a command shell, type the commands:
    # mount -t efivarfs efivarfs /sys/firmware/efi/efivars # ignore if already mounted
    # efivar -l
If a list of variables is displayed, then you know you have succeeded in booting the installation media in UEFI!
    Hope this helps some people...

Lone_Wolf wrote:Buckeye, Machione did you try disabling secure boot ?
    Thanks for the response Lone_Wolf.
I had a good old rummage through the "UEFI BIOS setup" for my motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX rev 1.01), and found no option to either disable nor enable Secure Boot, which I found rather odd, so I did some searching online and found this quote:
"I've recently bought an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX, which is a uefi
    motherboard.
    Secure boot cannot be ENabled."
    from: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.mageia.user/8143
Intrigued, I then done some more searching, and came to opening up Windows System Information, to see if I had Secure Boot enabled or not already. The result (as shown in the below screenshot), is that Secure Boot is "Unsupported", which means that my "PC does not support Secure Boot or is a Legacy (BIOS) installed Windows". Since I am running Windows already in UEFI, this means that my motherboard indeed does not support Secure Boot, and hence there is no need for me to disable it.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/3to4x7pcxctzz … enshot.jpg
I will send a quick email to ASUS to confirm this finding, but it certainly seems like Secure Boot is not an option that I have, and hence I have no need to disable it in the first place.
    Thanks anyway for the response,
    -Ryan

  • CS6 crash while rendering

    Hi,
recently CS 6 crashes while rendering, this happens at the beginning (ca. 800 frames), i change from GPU to CPU, deletet the cache files, try a different sequence
with other videos, all the same
in task manager i can't kill the premiere prozess
after crashing only the power/reset button helps
the strange is, at the same time my complete network crashes to ??
    Windows 7 pro
    16GB RAM
    Genforce GTX570 Driver 340.52
    Intel i7-2600K
With Media Encore there are no problems.
    can someone help me ?

The problem with PP CS6 crashing during render has increased from once in a while to where it cannot complete any renders.
---->>> Encoding to H.264 MP4. Seems to do fine on AVI renders. H.264 MP4 is the key to the problem. <<<---
The error that it is reporting says that the "output directory could not be found", but the problem is the same when rendering to a different (not RAID) drive. Does not crash with AVI render. Replaced H.264 Codec -->> No change. Crashed at 90% of a 50 second file render to lowest level MP4 file.
It is not the motherboard - Replaced Gigabyte with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
It is not the CPU - Replaced AMD 6 core with AMD 8 core FX
It is not heat. Cabinet is cool, all fans are running, no dust, no blockage.
It is not power supply - Replaced 750 W power supply with 850 W power supply.
It is not memory - Increased memory from 16GB to 32 GB, Computer repair shop rotated and tested memory.
It is not virus (no email on this machine, current virus protection and security software).
It is not drive space - Increased RAID from 2TB to 8 TB - Problem actually got worse - (crashes sooner)
It is not the video card - drivers verified correct by Nvidia - (Quadro 4000) -  tested by installing a different video card - No change.
It is not software install - Uninstalled total CS6 package and reinstalled.
It is not a specific render file - It will not complete any renders now.
It is not a recent software install - The only software that has been updated is Adobe but that was ruled out by the total uninstall/reinstall. Backup install on a laptop is able to complete renders on the files that crash on the "big" machine. Nothing new has been installed. Virus and SpyBot show "clear".
It is not the CUDA or Mercury setting - Tested with CUDA on and off.
It's not the Playback settings - Tested for GPU Acceleration and Mercury Playback Engine Software only.
It is not the C: drive - Replaced with SSD.
Ran while watching Performance Monitor - No hint of problem before crash point. (video available).
    So, what are we missing?

  • Hang at Booting the Kernel

Arch is installed, updated and running.  For a variety of reasons I have decided to do a fresh install.  Downloaded the November release, verified checksum, wrote to usb flash drive, rebooted system, chose x86_64.
Boots to "Booting the Kernel" then hangs.
Rebooted, chose i686, boots to prompt.
Re downloaded iso, verified checksum, wrote to dvd, booted, same issue.  Booted dvd in different 64 bit system, chose x86_64 boots to prompt.
    Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth 990FX
    Any suggestions?

Try to adjust some of the boot options using grub. Here is an excerpt from the gentoo documentation concerning the gentoo live cd:
Gentoo Linux x86 Quick Install Guide wrote:
    Booting the CD
Press F2 at the boot screen to find out what boot options exist. You can either start gentoo or gentoo-nofb, the latter disables the framebuffer. If you booted the LiveCD, don't forget to add the nox option to prevent the X graphical environment from starting. Several options allow to enable or disable some features. If all goes well, your hardware will be detected and all modules will be loaded. If the kernel fails to boot properly or if your computer hangs during the boot procedure, you may have to experiment with different configurations. The safest way is probably to use the nodetect option and then load required modules explicitly.
Maybe that helps for arch linux too.

I have been lucky so far only by adding the required jars for JDO into the

I recently built a new system and am having an issue with the whole system freezing whenever I place even a small load on the graphics card.  I've run memtest, prime95, and FurMark and the only one that gave me any issues was FurMark.  On the full screen 1080 test, the whole system just locked up after about 9 minutes. The strange thing is, the temperature didn't go abnormal and there was no apparent stress on the card. When it locks, nothing responds and I have to hard reset to bring the computer back.  I've had this happen while running 2 games at full screen after less than 10 minutes but neither one is especially graphics intensive.  I also had it happen once when I left the computer on overnight.
