Does this problem only occur in certain programs? Because I have a similar problem with my sound suddenly dropping without warning. But it only happens when I'm playing music in Windows Media Player. If it does have something to do with the media player then I suspect it could be the "WOW effects plugin." I hope this helps, or at least narrows down your problem.

Anyone using Creative extrenal sound card via USB w/ Mac mini

There is a sweet deal for Klipsch Ultra 5.1 for $299.99 at London Drugs in Canada.....I'd like to replace my old 4.1s. Id like to buy Creatives"Soundblaster Live 24-bitExternal. Is there any chance anyone out there has done such a thing with thier Mac Minis? Would like to know if someone has this step-up.

Creative usually doesn't make Mac compatible hardware, meaning that a great deal of Creative stuff that actually runs on a Mac is thanks to the effort of Apple, 3rd party developers or hackers. It's possible to make the Zen work with a Mac, but its support is extremely limited.

Anyway, you can always install Boot Camp and run Windows on your Mac Mini whenever you need to access your Creative MP3 player.

List of creative sound cards that support 5.1 ,older and new

Title says it all as I'm looking to purchase(new or used) creative 5. sound card. I'm unsure as to what older models support 5.,it's for a friend and I want to make sure he gets the right one.Li've,Audigy or other?I don't need one with all the bells and whistles just one that supports 5.. Thanks.

I have a D-Link DSL 604+ router, which is 11b only.
Wireless is very slow, I noticed it right away. I get the sawtooth readout in activity monitor's network section.

Spdif guitar sound from Creative Blaster not coming out through motherboard sound card

I just bought a new 64 bit PC & transferred my creative labs sound blaster card to it from my old 32 bit PC.
Everything was fine with windows XP on that 32 bit machine. I fed my guitar signal from my Line 6 UX2 into the spdif in on the creative sound card & the guitar sound was available at the back of my PC from the basic card on the motherboard.
Now with the new PC I still plug my guitar into spdif input at front of my creative labs sound card. The output is present on the optical out at on the Blaster card. However the guitar sound coming out of the back of my PC from the onboard Realtek sound card is delayed by about 100ms & is poor quality. I've tried every configuration setting but can't get it right. I need to take it from the back so I get everything including play back from one output.
Also the creative labs control consol opened initially, but now says 'device not available' when I try to open it. Although to start with it would open. The creative card is enabled so it should see it.
I've downloaded the latest creative labs driver. I think it's for 64 bit. Not sure.
Any constructive suggestions would be much appreciated.

Professional DJ Sound Card Advice, Please

I am converting my DJ and Karaoke system to my PC using PCDJ software. I am in need of an external USB port sound card which can be attached to my equalizer and amp. However, I will need 2 microphone inputs. Has anyone used one of Creative's sound cards for this specific purpose? If so, your advice would be appreciated. Sound quality is of the utmost importance also. Thanks!

Thank you for all your suggestions - I guess am hoping I can find another smaller audio interface to use alongside my Apogee Duet and then set up an aggregate device in the Mac... though not sure if that will be a stable/good solution. Am doing research now to find out, if not will probably opt for one of the interfaces you've all suggested, with 4 outputs minimum - hopefully a second hand one to keep costs down.

I tried a system restore but it said a group of people is not allowing it. Anyway, that is beside the point. I lost the CD along with the box, but the sound card is still in my computer, how do I install a driver so I am capable of using the sound card again? Thanks.

hi all i need help i have a creative 5. sound card with digital out only speakers. and when i try and use my mic on a system like msn it will not let me its like i have no audio from it at all. but if i un mute my mic it works fine but i can here my voice any help would be apreciated. well i solved it with a simpl mic head set combo and switching from dig to analog all works great. and im now happy peace all case closed on my end.

5.1 sound card

I bought a new iMac to replace a Dell. I would like to use the 5.1 Klipch sound system I used with my Dell (Creative Audigy sound card). The Creative sound card was an expansion card I purchased and put into a slot in my Dell many years ago.
What are my options for using the same speakers? I don't think that any type of sound card will fit into the iMac.

In order to have a 5.1 or 4.1 signal travel through a mini-plug it would need to be a digital connection like is available with the MacBooks- on these, the audio in/out ports are listed as
Combined optical digital audio input/audio line in (minijack)
Combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack)
Going through a minijack, it's the digital part that's important. Otherwise you just have an audio line in (L-R stereo) and headphone (L-R stereo)
Apple may have slipped a digital connection into the Powerbook and not told anybody, but my guess is that they would have advertised it.
Of course, you are right that the best way to make absolutely sure is probably to check with Apple directly.
EDIT:This is not to say that it's impossible to get a 5.1 signal out of a Powerbook, just that it would not be through the normal audio connectors. There may be some sort of USB solution out there, but I have never looked.

Hi there, Yes in my case, X-Fi soundcard works greak with my Logitech 5500 speakers. Iam not sure about that 28 simultaneous voices right now, I suggest you would need to hear it personally I guess. But yeah Iam playing battlefield 2, and I say X-Fi has great positional audio and the voices in the game is crystal clear enough for me.

New sound card Creative Live! 5.1 Digital

Hi,
I disabled the ALC 97 in the BIOS but ddin't uninstall any of the drives. Possibly a bad idea. I shut down and plugged in the new card and booted. When prompted to install the card I told it to look for the drivers on the install CD and it found them.
This card should do EAX but in Grand Prix 4 and Half Life 2 there is no option to turn EAX either on or off. GP4 has the option but it's greyed out, 2D acceleration is available and that works.
I then uninstalled the Realtek sound drivers and the nvmixer thing from add/remove programs, rebooted, then installed the sound card drivers from the CD properly, including all the extra programs.
This hasn't made any difference to the lack of EAX options although in one of the installed programs it does prove that EAX is working but I can't find anything that tells me whether these games are using EAX.
Also, performance in these games has improved DRAMATICALLY. I have recently installed some more RAM but I was under the impression that would only improve loadng times etc and there was only a marginal performance after the new RAM when using 3d mark 05. (Presumably) since installing this new card, I can now max out all the settings in HL2 except for 2xAA and 8xAF and it absolutely flies.
Is all of this supposed to happen? If not, I was going to unplug the card and manually uninstall every sound driver from both add/remove prgorams and device manager and then reinstall the card. Sound good?

I tryed to format disk and install system, but this couldn't helped me. I can only update drivers form cd and sound is working perfect, but i can't install any program. Just to let you know that you are not alone in this dilemma, I too have spent all day today with the same problem. I was going to reformat and do a total install, but gave up at the last moment. I did manage to get some of the software working by using the Audio folder on the CD and installing what's needed.Some of the programs sort of worked like wave studio and recorder, but the mixer (being the main part) would not work. Also when the diagnostic program is run, it says there is a hardware error although the sound works through front left and right speakers. I am lost as to why there would be sound yet the message says:
Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audio Card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program. Setup will now exit.
If you find an answer to the problem or if anyone knows of a solution please post.
