Asus Ultrabook UX31A-BHI5T11

I have a question about the Asus Ultrabook UX31A-BHI5T11 that is for sale on BestBuy.com for $999.99.  Does this laptop include a standard DVD/CD player? the specifications indicated that it did not include a recordable optic drive, which confused me.  I just wanted to confirm if it did, indeed, include at least a standard CD drive, even if it may not have recording capabilities.
Thanks

As pointed out by Neihn, this ultrabook does not have a CD/DVD drive.  You will have to get an external drive if you want to load programs from a CD or watch movies.
This is a very nice machine, and seeing BBY carry this model in black is awesome.  I just wish their stores carried the 256GB SSD instead of the 128GB SSD.  at the current sale price of $999.99, this is a best buy in my opinion, considering the form factor, nice bright and crisp screen (1920x1080), and it's a touch screen, perfect for the new Windows.  The machine garners great reviews and you can find them by doing a google search.

  • My Asus Ultrabook says of the download of Premiere Elements 10 "This app can't run on your PC" and will not open installer (although I PSE10 working)

I am running Win 8.1.  I have no DVD drive, so i downloaded.
Originally, the download #1 of 2 has an extension of ".7z".  I changed this to ".exe" .

    change it back to .7z.
then download the accompanying file 2 of 2 (the exe), put both the 7z and exe in the same directory and click (or double click) the exe.

  • ASUS UX31A Touch i7 256GB SSD

    Does this laptop exist?
I've gone to my local Best Buy and I was unable to find it. I spoke with the employees there and no one knows anything about it. I've heard that it could be found online if it wasn't at the store (it's not online), that the model hasn't come out yet, or that it never will exist.
So what is it? The only reason I want it is because it is the only black ASUS ultrabook laptop that is black. There is a silver model that does have i7 and 256GB SSD, but that's not what I'm looking for.
Here's a link of the i5 128GB SSD, basically just what I want but with more kick to it.

They do not allow editing of posts here. That is why you could not find it
In my searching on the internet I could not find what you are looking at Amazon, Newegg, Fry's, or Microcenter. I was easily able to locate what you are looking for in the silver model but nothing in the black.

  • Why are grey colors displayed as brown colors in both PS and AI of the CCcloud on Windows 8?

I have a new Asus Ultrabook with Adobe PS and AI installed from creative cloud. Unfortunately colors are displayed wrong in both programs.
    Can somebody help me out?

So in short does that mean that I am screwed with my Tachi ultrabook...
Most likely not and it doesn't necessarily mean that your screen is bad.
Is this a manufacturing mistake from Asus? Is their something I can do or do I need to sent it back?
Most manufacturers  do not include manufacturer supplied color profiles for their screens and the calibration is left to the users to make the color profiles themselves. By default Windows assigns the sRGB color space for the monitor profile. For monitors that come with manufacturer supplied color profiles the name of the profiles are not with the names of standard color spaces. So, I don't know how you ended up with your monitor profile being AdobeRGB in the first place as shown on your first screen shot. Anyway, manufacturer supplied monitor profiles in most cases are not any better than those without profiles. This is because they can not afford to calibrate each unit individually but only a few and make a guess about the rest of the units and create the profile that is what they think an average color space of all units but they could be very wrong.
Most computer users are not designers and even a lot of designers don't create custom color profiles for their monitors. If the color space of the monitor luckily is closer to the color space of the monitor profile it may be good enough for a lot of users. If it is not the users may experience unexpected colors due to color management conversions without correct color profile. The monitor color profile tells the color managed programs how your monitor displays colors and if the profile is not correct the colors will be wrong.
To create the monitor color profile yourself for the best result you have to use a color measuring device and calibrating software that works with it but unfortunately this cost additional money. There are free programs for generating color profiles like this one without using color measuring devices but relying on eyeballing. These profiles are not as good as those created with color measuring device but most likely will be better than the default profile.

  • How to set up an Airport Express on Windows 8 on laptop with no CD drive?

I recently purchased an Asus Ultrabook which has no CD drive. I have Airport Express set up on my old laptop, this was set up via an installation CD.
How do I move the Airport Express to my new laptop and install the software without the CD? I can't seem to find a software download for it.
I'm sure this is a basic question for those in the know, but I'm stumped!
    Thanks :-)

  • Unable to refresh my computer and UEFI is not helping!

I have an ASUS Ultrabook that came pre-installed with Windows 8 and was later upgraded to Windows 8.1
The PC has the key embedded in the UEFI.
The PC has recently been acting very strangely and so I decided to try either a refresh or a reset.  Neither works.  When I try to run them they tell me that the disk which Windows is installed on is locked and I have to unlock it before I can
proceed.   This happens even if I boot from a USB stick (there is no DVD).
If I download Windows to run the install it doesn't recognize that the PC has a key in embedded and asks for it.  No matter, I was able to extract the key but then putting that in I get the error telling me that this key cannot be used to install a
    retail copy of the OS.
I'm totally stuck now.  I cannot use the manufacturers options because they don't work, and I can overwrite the hard drive with a clean copy of windows because it doesn't accept my key.
This is a legal copy of Windows.  How do I get it reinstalled?
    Thank you.

  • HP ePrint Software Installation Issue

I purchased my new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g.  It is on my network with all HP software and drivers that are up-to-date. I am running Windows 8 on my ASUS Ultrabook Laptop. I am also running McAfee AntiVirsus Plus Software in the background.  When trying to install HP ePrint Software, I am receiving a "Fatal Error" during installation/required to Uninstall. There are no error codes being displayed. No references to the antivirsus software. I have turned it off and tried reinstalling but got the same message.  Is there a work around to fix this issue so I can take advantage of HP ePrint?

    Hi,
Please connect your printer (USB or wireless) then run the following tool :

  • How to backup windows 8 for a new Harddrive?

I want to be able to back up my windows 8 on my asus ultrabook and put it on a clean fresh new SSD and get rid of the old HDD. Any tutorials on how to
do it? Is it better to back up on a flash drive or DVD?

First you are going to want to open up the left side charms ribbon. type into the search bar "create a recovery drive". from here click on the app with the same name. check the box that says "copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive". then click next. the next screen will show a list of drives that are available to be a recovery drive. You can do this using either a fairly large USB (16GB), a blu-ray disk (depending on the image size) or back up onto an external hard drive. Remember that all of the data on the selected drive will be erased. Once completed, you can reinstall windows 8 from your recovery drive. There are also plenty of third party recovery softwares and how-to videos out there.
    For example:
The freeware Aomei Backupper can help you.  It support backup to external drive and create a bootable DVD. http://www.backup-utility.com/features/create-bootable-disc.htmlBut I think your question is clone OS or migrate OS to SSD

  • [Solved] Asus Zenbook Prime (UX31A-DB51) Function key issues

I recently purchased this machine, and the final issue I have with is that the Function keys are not working. Looking at the wiki I saw that it should work out of the box with 3.4.4-2, and I'm on 3.4.5-1 and have issues with it. Following the instructions on building a patched module led to kernel panics.

Hi, I bought the UX32VD a few weeks ago. Most of the steps, mentioned in the article about the UX31A apply to the UX32VD too. I don't know what your problems are. All the steps are explained.
    [ 8.039202] asus_wmi: Can't find DSTS
Just patch the kernel with the mentioned fix, or use the dkms variant. This will fix the can't find DSTS issue. After that, the asus-nb-wmi (or sth. like that) module will be loaded successfully, which makes most of the function keys work (except the screen brightness keys). The only thing remaining is to use the supplied hackarounds to be able to change the screenbrightness.
After these steps, I created a .Xmodmap to remap the automatic kbd. backlight key and the touchpad disable key to XF86MonBrightnessDown (or so .. can't remember the exact name) and XF86MonBrightnessUp and respectively mapped the shortcuts with xfce4-keyboard-settings (XF86MonBrightnessDown to the command backlight down, XF86MonBrightnessUp to backlight up). Unfortunately, sometimes this is a little bit buggy. The scan codes change randomly on some reboots, eg: one time it gets recognized as XF86MonBrightnessUp, and a few keypresses later as something different.
Hope they fix this issue with the 3.5 kernel, and eventually get the actual screenbrightness buttons to work.

    Good day!
On the ultrabook Asus (System Settings: WIN 8.1 64-bit, Core I5-3317U CPU @ 1.70 Ghz, Memory 4 Gb), set Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.09
When you convert to any format via SaveAs in WORD, EXCEL, or via the Export file in ... throws the error "Unable to process the document in the module Save As. File not created"

This happens with any file .
Send a file with the screen errors and system data . Also send a couple of files PDF.
    Translates only txt format.
