Asynchronous webservice callbacks?
Hi there,
Does anyone know if it's possible for web service's to
perform asynchronous Flex callbacks. I'm trying to avoid polling an
HttpService for updated state information and rather have the
server push updates to the Flex client as needed.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Dear spantaleoni,
Thanks for your quick answer.
Please can you describe how can I declare a client destination?
Thanks in advance

Hello
I have read that in Java EE 6 we can declare a webservice method as asynchronous using @Asynchronous annotation using EJB 3.1
How do we make asynchronous webservices using EJB 3.0
Thanks
VidyadharHello,
I have done the same thing, e.g. I have exposed an IDOC as an web service and if XI is down it will fail on the calling side with an exception, mostly something like timeout. It will not reach XI. We are on XI 3.0 SP12 but it worked also with SP10.
If XI is up and R/3 is down then you can submit the asyn interface again but the caller with not get a response. This is an issue you have deal with or create a web service on th e caller side which you will call to reply that the async call is now complete.

Creating Asynchronous webservice using Jdeveloper
Guys,
I want to expose a java class as a Asynchronous web service. The issue is i cannot make it asynchronous. When i deploy it, there is no callback port.
Have anybody used Jdeveloper to generate Asynchronous web service from java class?
Below is my code....
import javax.jws.WebService;
import oracle.webservices.annotations.async.AsyncWebService;
@WebService(serviceName = "MyTestAsyncService")
@AsyncWebService
public class MyTestAsyncService
public String sayHello()
return "Hello World";Hello,
I think, it should be work. I just tested using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.
This is web service:
package webservice;
import javax.jws.WebMethod;
import javax.jws.WebService;
@WebService(serviceName = "MyTestAsyncService")
public class MyTestAsyncService {
@WebMethod
public String sayHello() {
return "Hello World";
I have generated using New->Web Service Client and Proxy and give WSDL URL.
It will generate web service client with asynchrone.
package ws.client;
// This source file is generated by Oracle tools.
// Contents may be subject to change.
// For reporting problems, use the following:
// Generated by Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 11.1.2.3.0.6276

MyTestAsyncService myTestAsyncService = myTestAsyncService_Service.getMyTestAsyncServicePort();
System.out.println(myTestAsyncService.sayHello());
// Add your code to call the desired methods.
Also that one is port class, which is generated from wizard.

Questions on the @ServiceClient annotation and Asynchronous webservices
1. Is their a way to invoke a webservice in an asynchronous manner without using the @ServiceClient annotation? I’ve tried a few things to get access to the async versions of the web methods and each time I get an exception stating “java.rmi.RemoteException: Asynchronous methods can only be invoked from stubs with the ServiceClient annotation”.
2. Is their anyway to generate a dynamically sized array of service port variables with the @ServiceClient annotation? All the examples that I have seen only have a single port variable annotated with @ServiceClient. I’ve tried creating a class that uses the @ServiceClient annotation, and while it does compile it fails when I try to invoke the services methods. I also found in some documentation a restriction that the @ServiceClient annotation can only be used in the core java (jws) webservice class.
3. Is their a way to use a single service port variable with the @SeriviceClient annotation to invoke multiple calls to an asynchronous web method if that web method is part of a conversation? When I tried this I found that even though the asynchrounous calls were going out with any problems they were being processed serially on the target services side (I assume due to the conversation).
The problem I am trying to solve is I need to invoke a stateful webservice in an asynchronous manner multiple times from the same starting service.Hi
That is how I understand that document:
Locking: Forms, by default, locks a row as soon as the user starts modifying the data. That is pessimistic locking. Apex, on other hand (and optionally forms also) do not lock the record, but before applying any changes checks if the data has changed since the user queried it (what for some reason is called optimistic "locking")
DB connections: I am not sure why they used the terms synchronous/asynchronous, but the difference is that Forms, by default, keeps an permanent DB connection while the user is using the application, while Apex gets a connection from a connection pool every time a page is requested/submitted.
Architecture: Forms (in its web version at least) has 3 tiers: the browser, the appserver where the forms service runs and the database. As Apex runs inside the database, there are only 2 tiers: the browser and the database (though you still may need an http server in between which serves static content, I don't think it is considered part of the application in this context). If you are talking about client/server forms, then there are only 2 tiers.
I hope this helps!

WebDynpro Application issue consuming asynchronous webservice from SAP PI
Hello experts i ask you for help thie following issue:
i am developing a webdynpro application which is supposed to
send some data from inputfields, and a file, in order to achieve it, that dynpro application is consuming an asyncrhronous webservice , this service is running in SAP Process integration .it uses only a component.
Iam having serious problems at mapping the asynchronous PI web service model -->to -->controller >and then to->view
since when i deploy the application into the SAP portal´s application server, it runs , but inputfields cannot be written.i dont mean unabled, what i mean, is. cannot write anything on them.ECXEPT the file upload UI element.
I have reviewed sap help page, 3 sappress books, about dynpro, and the procedure i am performind is agree with them.
endpoint test answers the folloiwng:
Message Servlet is in Status OK

Lookupname for remoteModuleProcessorLookupName: null
ModuleProcessorClass not instantiated
ModuleProcessorLocal is Instance of com.sap.aii.af.mp.processor.ModuleProcessorLocalLocalObjectImpl0_0
ModuleProcessorRemote not instantiated
what i did is the same as before(in another projects weh i used to import rfc models):
1.- import webservice model,and add it to component
2.-map web service model to controller context
3.-map controller´s context to view context
4.-create actions and methods
5.-binding context controller to ui elements
Dear experts, my questions are:
What am i doing wrong?
should i permorm another steps because the web service is in another application server (SAP PI)?
Should i create a stand alone proxy and then access it from webdynpro?
when i call the web service model excution it seems does not run, neverthless the invocation does not have any syntax error , what coul it be?
Thanx in advance!!just for the sake of other who may hit this thread , the solution is to add sap-client=<clientno> in the url for wsdl

How to make an ABAP Proxy public as an asynchronous WebService
Hello together,
i have made an ABAP-Proxy public as an WebService by generating the WSDL from the directory for my asynchronous <b>outbound interface</b>. This outbound interface is mapped to the ABAP-inbound interface and so on. This works fine.
But actually i don't need any mapping. So i'm thinking about to how to send the WebService <i>directly</i> and to the ABAP-Inbound-Interface <u>asynchron</u>.
1. Is this possible at all (and how), and if so
2. does it makes sense in order to improve the performace (there is a mass-processing in behind)?
GunnarGunnar,
I guess its simple...go for SOAP to Proxy scenario.
If ur source and target structure is same ..u need not require mapping.u can execute the scenario without mapping also.
I have done same scenario 2 months ago.....
following things u need to do.
1)create outbound message interface
2)create inbound message interface
3)No need of message mapping and interface mapping(if u dont require any transformation of source structure)
4)create WSDL for outbound message interfce
5)create proxy for inbound MI
6)write the necessare code in ur proxy
7)using any SOAP editor like XML spy send data to proxy...
u have done the work!!!!
All the best

Handling Asynchronous webservice - CRM WEBic
Hi Experts,
I have a scenario where i have to fetch details from a third party system via a webservice call. However the response from the third party system can only be asynchronous. The requirement is to display the data returned from the third party on the webic when the response comes in.
Ideally -
A user can log on to a screen and trigger the request
Their session will not be locked, there should be no spinning wheel wait.
The request can be processed and the response back to SAP WebIC will then alert the user that it has completed
The user should not have to continually refresh their screen to see if the response has come back in
Firstly, is this technically possible with the CRM webIC? or are there any customization or workaround that you can suggest to achieve this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Regards,
AlanHi,
This is definitely possible in CRM WEB IC.
There are many ways of doing it.
Easiest would be as below.
1. Create one custom FM and call it on your button STARTING NEW TASK and PERFORMING CUSTOM_ROUTINE as shown below.
Declare variable in the Same FM group where your custom FM is created of type STRING.
CALL FUNCTION 'Custom FM ZZZZZZ for triggering web service'
STARTING NEW TASK iv_task_id DESTINATION 'NONE'
PERFORMING HANDLE_CALLBACK ON END OF TASK
EXPORTING
PARAMETERS = PARAMETERS.
Put the below code in above FM.
GV_STRING = cl_icwc_session_registry=>GET_AGENT_SESSION_QUEUE( ).
Then call the web service.
2. In the same FM after statement ENDFUNCTION or in the same Function group add include program with the custom subroutine.
FORM HANDLE_CALLBACK USING TASK_ID.
Here you will read the response of web service with DO ENDDO LOOP and WAIT 1 or 2 Seconds.
As soon as you get response from Web Service You will exit from the loop and trigger the alert on USER with following code.
call function 'CRM_IC_5X_EXT_ALERT'
Exporting
CONNECTION_KEY = GV_STRING
ALERT_MESSAGE = 'Please check the webservice response'
ALERT_NAVLINK = 'OPTIONAL : Any Navlink you want to put '.
ENDFORM.
Let me know if this works.

Hello everybody,
I am trying to figure out how to implement a callback listener or handler. The thing is that I can talk to a webservice but I am supposed to get something back. The reply might get back to me in unknown ammount of time and sometimes without me initiating the conversation. So I should be able to listen to the webservice at any given time.
My understanding of this is that my callback listener should be more like a webservice where I can accept calls any time. I am not sure if I am understanding this correctly, can anybody help me with the first step :)Upon further research, the problem is the Namespace. It seems
that you cannot use a namespace prefix in the labelField attribute
of a mx:ComboBox. I was able to get the label set correctly in the
combo by using a labelFunction instead of setting the labelField:
private function getMarketBasketName(data:Object):String {
return data.mb::Name;
My Webservice event handler callback now looks like this:
private function
handleMarketBasketsResult(event:ResultEvent):void {
mbCombo.dataProvider = event.result.mb::MarketBasket;
Note that "mb" is now defined (scoped) as a module Namespace
variable since I'm using it in multiple functions. Also, I do not
set any labelField property of the combo since I've defined a
labelFunction of "getMarketBasketName".
I've also noted a similar phenomenon with binding a DataGrid
to an XML type that contains a Namespace. To get values to appear
in the columns, I've had to write labelFunctions for every column.
Yuk!!! There may be a way to do this with a single function if you
follow a convention or do something with string replacement but....
Unless someone posts an alternative technique, the lesson I
have learned is always convert an XML data type to an object (using
manual or automated serialization) and bind the data controls to
that object (or array of objects) instead of directly to the XML.
It will save the headaches of writing all these little functions to
deal with namespaces. -

OSB -How to communicate with a Asynchronous SOAP Service using OSB
Hi,
I am new to OSB and I need some help in working with Asynchronous SOAP Service.
Test Case : OSB --> Proxy Service --> Business Service-->External Service pointing to Asynchronous service WSDL.
While testing the proxy service using sb console i don't get a response back.
After some googling I found out the following:
->We need to create another Proxy service for listening to callback from that Asynchronous service.
->Setting the "WS-replyTo" in header variable while sending the initial request to Business Service(pointing to Asynch wsdl).
Even after this I am not getting some response.
Questions :
1. Can someone let me know in detailed way(end to end) what has to be done to achieve this ?
2. The Asynch wsdl exposes only one port in the <service> tag ie., which is haing the binding related to "process" operation. ( but not processCallback operation)
So in this case how do i make my responseProxy service listen to callback port ? When I try to do I just see the process binding only.
Thanks and Regards,
Sridhar.Vernetto,
I am not sure about the publish, but yes we can do this without JMS also. Please refer to this post which is quite helpful which routes back to a proxy service.

Hello
Our backend ECC is on EnhP4 (there by NW 7.0, EnhP1), As I understand, since NW 7.0, SP 14, webservices runtime has been changed significantly to support asynchronous webservices (through WS-RM).
This ECC system is connected to our PI 7.0 system. In the back end ECC system, when I create ABAP server proxy for a synchronous interface from SPROXY, the generated proxy is also visible as a service in SOAMANAGER. However, when I do the same for asynchronous interface, the service is not visible in SOAMANAGER.
Is this an expected behavior? Does this mean, we can only expose 'out side in' approach webservices in synchronous mode if the ESR is of version 7.0? The reason I say this is when I connect the same ECC system a PI 7.1 system, I am able to expose asynchronous services that are generated out of SPROXY.
The intent here is to design the interfaces in XI 7.0, expose them as web service in ECC and consume the webservice using another EAI tool that supports WS-RM.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
KKStefan
Thanks. Your answer makes sense with what we are observing. Do you know if this is documented somewhere in help documentation or some note.
On another note what doesn't make sense to me is why this limitation? Not sure what I am missing. Doesn't the webservice runtime in NW 7.0 support WS-RM from SP14. Why should it be dependent on the version of PI in case of point to point webservice. Unless you say we can use WS-RM in back end NW 7.0 through PI 7.1's WS adapter only.
For me this sounds like a limitation on the NW 7.0/SP14 side. What do you think?

Using the result of a jms webservice
When I have deployed my simple HelloWorld webservice, I obviously want to write

problem, in the programming guide that comes with weblogic they only mention how
to call system.out.println on the result(see quote below). But that's not what
I want to do, I want to use the result, but how? From what I can see the resulting

<part name="result" type="xsd:anyType" />
The question is, what is it that I'm receiving and how can I find that out dynamically.
This is the code I'm using:
SoapMethod method = proxy.getMethod("receive");
SoapType type = method.getReturnType();
System.out.println("type is:" + type.getTypeAsString());
System.out.println("value is:" + type.toString());
System.out.println("class is:" + type.getType().getName());
The output of the system.out's above is:
type is:Object
value is:Object result
class is:java.lang.Object

Object result = method.invoke( null );
System.out.println( result );Thanks manoj, for taking the time to help me with my problem.
I noticed in your examples you posted in your reply that none of the examples
are using queues. Can you confirm that there is a bug when using queues? It gives
NullPointerException in the Servlet and FileNotFoundException on the client when
trying to access the result queue to read the response of my asynchronous webservice.
See the earlier posting, regarding Webservice works with Topics but not with Queues?

Dynamic webservice client for User-defined datatypes
Hi All,
I have a webservices with user-defined datat types. I want to write a dynamic client that will work even if there are any changes in the wsdl, so that I do not want to recompile the client or make any changes on the client side.
I tried using DII but we need to modify the custome objects and recompile the same. Suggest me any alternative.
Regards,
SanjayRob, unfortunately not. If I ever come across the solution, I will post it here.
The reason I wanted to use weblogic webservices was to take advantage of the asynchronous webservice functionality. I ended up using xfire instead for my webservices, as we already had that in place in the application, and then using polling clients to get the response. Not an ideal solution, but it works very good anyway.
regards,
Marcus
