The Magnectic port connected to the computer sways between green and orange light wat would be the problem any thing serious how to overcome ?

The primary reason that may happen is that the battery is not holding a charge or needs to be calibrated.

If the port of the TouchPad won't allow for proper contact, your best option is to use a Touchstone charger.  Mine works great.  They are no longer available directly from HP, but check with third-party sellers like Amazon, eBay, or webOSNation.com

  • I can't open my macbook. When I plug the charger the led light turn into green and orange then green then orange...

    Please help!

If you have an older MBP with a removable battery, you might experiment with removing the battery, plugging it in, replacing the battery, etc.
You might experiment with a different charger, if you have access to one.
Otherwise, you can try Resetting the System Management Controller .
Having said all that, it is most likely you will have to take the computer in to a service place for testing/repair.

  • My macbook air won't turn on and the led light on the cord doesn't light up

I can't get my macbook air to turn on and the cord light won't go on, either. It was not dead last night when I shut it down . . . any ideas?

    Hello srsymington,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your MacBook Air will not power on, I'd like you to please reset the SMC as directed below.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Useage stats dont reset to zero after full charge?

hi all, i thought that, after a full charge, the useage stats, ie, time in use and standby, went to zero. i am getting the full charge indicator but the stats continue to run up and not get reset to zero. am i missing something? uj thanks.

Are you getting the little plug icon (vs the lightening bolt) in the battery? That is when the iPhone recognizes a full charge, despite how "full" the battery actually appears. If you have been chraging via your wall unit, try to "top off" using the USB. I did that this morning, and as soon as my iPhone had completed a sync, I got the battery symbol and my usage stats reset. Some people have also reported doing it vice versa, and topping off via the wall unit if they have been charging via the USB. Good luck.

  • Charger's indicator light

Hi, I am using macbook pro 13' late 2011, which is compatible with magsafe 1 60w charger. Recently I bought a new one and it appreared to be abmormal when I connected it to my mbp. The thing is that when I disconnected the old charger, the indicator light on the connector will turn straght off. But when I do the same with the new charger, the light will remain on for at least 30 secs. I wondering if this is normal? thanks in advance for any reply.

Yes that is correct. But that doesn't mean the charger you have is not a real Apple charger. Some aren't made as well as others. If you bought it from a eBay seller I'd return it as defective then buy a real Apple charger from Apple.
Why take chances with something so inexpensive as a AC charger.

So, what you infer is that if the charger is from Apple itself, it's indicator light would not happen as mine did?

  • The light on the powercord for my macbook no longer goes on when I attach it to the laptop and does not appear to be charging the computer.  Is it the cord or the computer that is the problem?

The light on my powercord no longer lights up when I attach it to the macbook and the macbook shows that it is not being recharged.  Is it the cord or the attachment on the computer? Is there a way to fix it so that I don't have to buy a new computer?

Hopefully, and more than likely, your magsafe charger has failed. Inspect the cord  near the bending points for cable strain, that's common. This oage may also give you some guidance http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713

Good grief!  I had not plugged the USB jack all the way into the headphone port on the iPod.  Having taken that action, the iPod shuffle works great.  My bad, as they say.

  • My battery isn't charging, and when I unplug my power cord, it immediately dies.  There is an "X" inside the battery icon, and the power cord light is green...how can I fix this?

    Hi,
I bought a Macbook Pro last February, and this is the first time this issue has occurred.  My computer has been working fine, but this morning the battery icon is showing a big "X" through it, and when I unplug my power cord, the computer shuts off.  Also, the power cord light is green, which I take to mean that it can't be charged anymore.  How can I fix this?
    Thanks!!

I had similar issue with one of the macbooks in the office. Make sure you've got latest firmware installed (run Software Update). This resolved the issue for us instantly (you may need to reboot mac AFTER firmware upgrade for this to work).

  • HT5012 I have a first generation Iphone 5 and my question is why is my phone heating up so bad to the point where its almost to hot to touch on the back. On top of that the battery is dieing so fast that it usually lasts about 3 hrs on a full charge. Help

So basically my iPhone 5 has been heating up so bad that it feels like its about to over heat and die. I've never had this happen to any other of my iPhones.  On top of that the battery is dying so fast that on a full charge is lasts about 3 hrs give or take. Ive tried closing all my apps like i usually do anyways, i tuned down the light, I've reset it and booted it back up, reset it and used iCloud backup, ext... Nothing is working. I'm to the point where i  almost want to get a new phone. I even tried calling apple support and they couldn't help me cause from what it sounded like they had no idea what they were doing. If anyone has any comments on how to fix this i would greatly appreciate it . I do love apple products and i have a upgrade and plan on upgrading my phone when the new one comes out but for the time being IDE like to fix the phone i have now that I've only had for a little bit anyways. Thanks

You are probably going to have to take a trip to the Apple Store, but you can also make sure that:
Bluetooth is turned off when not in use
Location Services are only turned on for those locations that you want a constant update to
Background App Refresh is turned off
    Automatic Downloads is turned off
Cellular Roaming is turned off when you don't need it
Go through your Settings and take a look at all of the settings to determine if you have any turned on that may be using a lot of battery, and which you really don't need.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Is the charger/sync cord covered under verizon warranty?

Had some problems, i dont have the money to buy even a cheap one, and my phone has died. i have a kitten who likes to chew on cords, he chewed on this one, but it kept working until a few days ago even after it had been chewed on and been that way for quite some time (about 2 or 3 weeks now), but it just stopped charging the other day (about 5 mins after i plugged it in to charge). I know it's pulling some sort of electricity because the charger still gets hot, even tho the phone isn't being charged, so i guess it ended up not making a connection anymore. (the charger has always gotten hot so hot that if it's in for a full charge from dieing on me, that i can't touch the charger without unplugging the iphone, and waiting for it to cool down, it gets extremely burning hot. but no sparks or anything so i just assume(d) that was/is normal. but that's how i know it's getting some current of electricity because the charger part is still getting warm to the touch, but the phone isn't getting anything on the recieving end.
(another question, i've search a lot, and found answers for this, but all were "no" and a few ended up stating things as facts as to why it was a "no" but their facts weren't facts at all...
can i use my ipod shuffle charge/sync cord to charge my iphone 4? it's the headphone jack one. (and people say the reason it's "no" is because the headphone jack is only a output and not a input... my thoughts are they are wrong because if that was the case, then you couldn't use the mic on the headphones through the headphone jack. The mic is the input, while the headphones are the output. so there is a two way connection of some sort there.. ))
My iphone 4 charger and charge/sync cord are the ones that originally came from the phone back in January 2013 when i got it.
(if i were to try the other charge/sync cord that came from the ipod shuffle, it's the one that orignally came with it, back in 2008-ish . (but i dont want to break my phone in the process. so i'm just trying to find other options and make sure that it wouldn't short it out or kill it in some way (the charger, the charger/sync cord, and/or the phone)).
I have the 1yr warranty, but i've never had to actually use the warranty on this specific phone, so i dont know if this is counted with the phone, since it is the item that came with the phone from verizon. (a few years back, the charger on my motorala phone just stopped recieving charge (there wasn't any explaination as to why, other than it stopped working, and when i took it in, they tested to make sure the phone wasn't the one not recieving the charge, and when it was the charger cord they traded me a refurbished one. (just the cord not the charger that it plugged into (Because it was the cord not working))
    thx!

Okay, I tried really hard to excise out the facts of what exactly you are talking about.  Very difficult to understand.
    1. Yes, the charger that came with your iPhone is covered under Apple's 1 year warranty ... but it is only covered for manufacturer's defects.  It's not covered if your "kitten chewed on it" ... if that's what you were saying at the top ... not exactly sure.
    2. You need to use a 30 pin cable to charge your iPhone.  You cannot charge it by something that plugs into the headphone jack ... if that's what you were saying is how the other charger works.

  • The battery icon says "Not Charging" and the light on the charger isn't lighting up either?

I fell while my macbook was in my bag. It was already dead but when I went to put the charger in it wouldn't light up. To my surprise it still turned on but it said "(Not Charging)". I unplugged it multiple times and reset the PRAM and everything and it's still the same. It's as if I always need my macbook to be plugged in for it to work and not charge at all. Is it the internal battery? What else could I possibly do to resolve the issue?

  • Does allowing the Battery to drain to 0% depletes full charge capacity?

I bought a Macbook pro 17-in intel core 2 duo 2.4Ghz from the Phiippines on July 10, 2007 and brought it to Ireland couple of days after. Later, I upgraded to leopard 10.5.2 with 4 Gig memory. Auto updates have been installed since its first use. The only problem I encountered (except for some Safari quitting unexpedtedly) was in the battery.
Here is the record of my MBP battery use:
    Battery information
Battery : MBP 17in Rechargeable Battery
    Model: A1189 10.18V 68Wh
    Serial: 6 _ _ _ _ _ DVYF1A
    My Battery practice:
    - I wait for 5% remaining charge before I plug the charger
    - At several occasions I forgot to plug the charger before remaining charge goes to 0%
    - I usually unplug the wall charger as soon as full charge is indicated.
    - I sometimes leave the wall charger plugged for several hours after green light shows.
    - I use my MBP for an average of 12 - 14 hours a day. At times I dont shut it down and just allow it to go to sleep mode.
    - Calibrated about 10 times.
    Record of Battery Life/Charging
Battery Cycle Life (based on istatpro) Full Charge Capacity (based on MBP)
    1 100% No Record
    62 100% 6492 mAh
    66 100% 6484 mAh
    100 100% 6484 mAh
    300 98% 6213 mAh
    301-317 95-99% 5850 - 6109 mAh
    318 83% 5254 mAh
318 (at 3908mAh or 53% remaining charge MBP suddenly shuts down)
318 (MBP shuts down if wall charger is unplugged) Tried calibrating and resetting SMC but did not work.
I then checked if my MBP is still covered by the one-year warranty despite more than 300 battery cycles, no bulges present at apple website https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do (here you have to enter your MBP serial number)
I brought my MBP for check up here in Dublin, Ireland and indeed the problem was the battery. They replaced my battery with a new one without cost.
Thanks Apple my new battery now has a Battery Health of 100% with the following initial cycle records:
    Battery Cycle Full Charge Capacity
1 (33% remaining charge as soon as I received it) 6810 mAh
1 (I then used the remaining charge up to 1%) 6726 mAh
    1 (full charged) 6810 mAh
1 (full charged) I let it rest for few hours then checked 6879 mAh
    2 (full charged) 6879 mAh
    3 (full charged) 6876 mAh
    4 (full charged) 6830 mAh
    5 (full charged) 6845 mAh
5 (full charged) I let it rest for 1 hour then checked 6868 mAh
    6 (3% remaining charge) 6829 mAh
I forgot to plug the charger (battery drained to 0%) 6492 mAh
Notice the sudden drop of full charge capacity in cycle 6? How do I recover the lost charge capacity? Does letting the battery drain to 0% depletes its full charge capacity?

The short answer is that yes, completely draining the battery has a slight negative impact on full charge capacity. The full charge capacity does fluctuate a bit over time, but the general trend is downward no matter what you do - there's a continuous chemical reaction occurring in the battery, with a finite life.
However, I note that you state +I wait for 5% remaining charge before I plug the charger+; if you are doing this because that is what you need to do, i.e. you do most of your work away from a power source, fine. But, if you are doing that because you believe that's best for your battery, that is incorrect. The 'old' NiCd batteries performed best with full discharge and full charge. The 'newer' Li-based batteries do not have this requirement, and in fact perform better over time when used frequently but 'lightly', avoiding full discharges (except for the occasional battery calibration, which allows the OS to more accurately determine the time to charge and discharge).
