At least daily freezes on Mac Pro since installing ML

I am having freezes at least daily under ML. Occurs randomly, even when doing something as simple as typing in an e-mail reply message. Driving me crazy. DOn't get a data dump since it is not a kernel panic. Just completely freezes and nothing will work. Interestingly, if I have music playing, it continues to play normally, but I have waited MANY minutes and nothing changes.

Console recording from last freeze:

Not so fast. Have crashed twice more. No crash log since it really just freezes. Does this help figure out what is wrong (from the Console)? I just deleted the SIMBL scripting addition. Would this log indicate a problem with my graphics card?

Update to latest patched version that no longer relies on Rosetta and PowerPC
Visit www.RoaringApps.com for a list and table of what version is supported, can be updated and which are not.
A year ago this was news.
Hopefully people kept a boot drive with the old OS so they could dual boot for a month or two whiile sorting out the changes and updates.

  • Why can't I attach files with my hotmail account on my mac pro since I upgraded to lion?

why can't I attach files with my hotmail account on my mac pro since I upgraded to lion?

i can' t believe it but after 3 hours of reading everything i could find on this subject i discovered the answer on accident: IT'S THE CLOCK!!!!! I know that it sounds crazy but go to settings and go to date and time and set it to the automatic date and time, even if it's the wrong time. after i did that, everything worked perfectly! aldiko accepted my adobe id and imported my purchased book happily.  i hope it is that easy for everyone, best of luck.

Hi, I've bought a mac pro and installed word for mac, as i wanted to transfer word documents to the new pc. I saved the documents ona usb stick but I cannot open the documents from the stick. What am i doing wrong?
    thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that you are looking for your USB drive in the correct place. To do it, first connect the USB drive. Then, open a Finder window (press the left icon of Dock) and choose your USB drive on the Finder sidebar, under "Devices". Finally, just copy the documents you need to the internal disk.
If you want to show the USB drive in Desktop, open Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and tick "External drives"

  • Flash Player freezing my Mac pro 2009

Hi all, has anyone been experiencing a complete freeze of their Mac pros after using Safari or FireFox for a few days?
I have a early 2009 Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz Quad Core which Im running Maverick 10.9.4 and the latest Flash Player update but still after a few days using safari and Firefox
my Mac freezes completely and I have to do hard reboot. According to Adobe the last Flash update was to solve this problem with earlier Macs.
Has anyone else been experiencing similar problems?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    5. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • HT1338 new Apple I bought a Mac Pro, since I got it keeps crashing....all the time!!! It is my first Mac computer and it is horrible!!!!

I bought a new Apple I bought a Mac Pro Retina screen, since I got it keeps crashing ALL the time!!!  This is my first Mac computer and I am hating it!!!  I assume I can take down to the any store and they will replace it??

I have a similar problem, my MBP Retina 15" 6 weeks old crashes and locks-up all the time with just about every application.  I now have gone back to using my old MS XP system, it is much more stable than Mountain Lion OS and Apple hardware.  I use Window-7 at work for last 6 months, not a single crash and/or lock-up.  I'm looking at returning/selling my MBP and getting a Window-8 system, Apple is now building crap hardware and software.  I recommend you consider the same solution.  Good Luck !

  • Transferring files from old computer freezes on Mac Pro

    Hi everyone-
I'm new around here and I'm having a problem. I just bought the Mac Pro and right now I am trying to transfer my files from my older computer to this new one. My old computer is a Powerbook G4 Laptop, and I want some files to be on the Mac Pro. So I attached a firewire cable to the Powerbook G4 and to the Mac Pro, and I booted up the Powerbook G4 and held the 'T' button down like you are supposed to. The Powerbook then shows up in the finder window on the Mac Pro, but then all of a sudden the Mac Pro freezes. Even when it didn't freeze, I clicked on the Powerbook G4 Hard Drive icon in the finder window, and some of the drive's contents load but then I just get the spinning colored pinwheel. And nothing happens! Why is this happening, can someone help me out? I tried it earlier and it worked, but now it is repeatedly not working. Thanks!

If you have both computer connected to the same internet connection there's nothing to do cable-wise. All you need to do is…
    1) Go to the Sharing System Preference and turn in Personal File Sharing on one of the system, preferably the PowerBook
    2) Go to the other system and select the Network menu item from the Go menu (in the Finder)
    3) You should now find your other system here and double click on it
    4) You should now be asked to log in, just use the log in details you would use to start the other system
    5) Now you will be asked which "volume" you want to connect to (select the one that is names you login if you only want to copy documents)
    6) You will now have access to the other computer with a disk mount on yur Desktop

  • I have ordered the latest Mac Pro since launch in December, and it has been taking forever to arrive!

Have you guys been having the same problem or is it just my order taking forever? Til date I have yet received my order....

I too ordered a customized Mac Pro in December (19th). Just last week Apple finally dinged my debit card, as arranged. I got all excited but this last Tuesday the money was put back in my account and it's gone back to "Processing Order". I guess my order wasn't as ready to ship as they thought.

  • XP 64bit on Mac Pro direct install - I did it before, but why can't I now??

Really frustrating this. I previously had an XP 64bit installation on a separate drive (WD 300GB) on my Mac Pro using a slipstreamed XP disk. I didn't use Boot Camp just did a direct install of windows, somehow.
I wanted to clone that drive onto a smaller 160GB drive I had so I could make use of the WD for backups - noting worked, so I ended up having to do a clean install of XP on the smaller drive. But this time for some reason a direct install doesn't work! I have no idea why.
I can boot into the XP CD and start the install but after the first reboot to continue the installation it can't read the drive and looks to the CD again. If I take out the CD I get an error telling me there's a disk hardware problem.
The only way I can install XP is with a Boot Camp partition first. However if I do this none of the XP disk partitioning tools will touch the disk (because they don't support GUID). I need to create a partitioned XP disk so that in the future I can reinstall the OS if I need to without wiping my data. Boot Camp doesn't seem to let me add an extra partition either. Ugghghg!!
What the **** did I do the first time around that let me do a direct install??
Alternatively can someone tell me how to create a new partition on the XP drive (by shrinking the current XP partition).

  • Can video cards for the new Mac Pro be installed in the field?

Current Configuration of the new Mac Pro is as follows:
          ACES MacPro Workstation Seat
    Processor
    6-Core/3.5GHz/Xeon E5
    Memory
    32 GB
    Graphics
    2X AMD FirePro D500
    Hard Disk
    1 TB
    Display
    24" LED / HP
    Media Player
    2GB FIPS USB Drive
    Mouse
    Apple Magic Mouse
    Keyboard
    USB
    Ports
    4-USB 3.0;
    6-Thunderbolt
    1- HDMI
    Netwk Interface
    Ethernet/802.11n
    Card Reader
    NIST SP 800 Compliant
My question is can the Graphic Display cards be removed and replaced in the field by an experience Mac Technician?
    Any special tools required?

Now here is the back, showing the heatsink paste still in place, and the thermal pads used to cool the RAM chips to the central cooler:
note that the two cards are not interchangeable -- they have their power lugs on opposite sides. One card has chips to support actual display output to the thunderbolt Busses, the other card has none, but has the custom micro-PCIE slot for the PCIe SSD "stick".
One reason for this design is that to make a leap forward, you would have to water-cool the slots for a traditional form-factor PCIe slot Mac pro. Then do it again to include a second GPU. In my opinion, this model Mac Pro is about conquering the cooling problem of this much CPU and GPU compute-power in one box.
NVIDIA graphics card replacements? maybe eventually, but not at this writing.

  • Hi everyone,I am new to this so please forgive me any mistakes I may make.Early 2008 Mac Pro desktop installed ML ok but next day nothing, reinstall ok restart same problem ML installer remains on my  snow leopard disk. Any help appreciated.Kind regards

There I go first mistake straight off. I was wondering how to fit my big long problem in. My fault I am sure but if anyone can help please.
Early 2008 Mac Pro Desk Top, 2 hard drives 1)snow leopard, 2)lion.
I have downloaded Mountain Lion usuing disk 1,selected no.2 as my destination, installed ok everything fine, set my startup as no.2 in preferences, switch off. Next day start up - nothing, my only way to get moving was physcally remove disk 2, and let snow leopard restart.
Reinstalled, everything fine, then same problem on restart next day, remove disk, and so on.
The mountain Lion installer remains in the snow leopard dock.
I know the problem is me, so if anyone is kind enough to be able to offer a solution it needs to be in easy speak (press button a, press button b) because I am not that savvy.
my best regards to all, and thank you.

Where did you get Mountain Lion? Did you download the 4+ GB file from the App Store? If so, then I would try doing the following:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your second drive on which Lion is installed (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    Install Mountain Lion
Double-click on the Mountain Lion Installer application in your Applications folder. Follow instructions to install Mountain Lion on your old Lion drive - Drive 2. When the installer finally finishes it will restart the computer automatically from Drive 2. At this point there is no need to change the Startup Disk unless you want to boot from your Snow Leopard drive.
You will startup to the Setup Assistant in which you will configure your own admin account. You can, if you want, omit that part and instead choose to migrate your Home folder and other data from the Snow Leopard drive. I would recommend you do that unless you wish to do it manually at a later time. In this case create your new admin account using the exact same username and password that you now use on your Snow Leopard system.

  • Mac Pro 2008 Install Blu-Ray Internal ODD Port?

Hello everything together I has the LG GGW h 20 L Blu Ray and would like the burner to internal port to attach, but that unfortunately cannot be done. Toast detects the burner however it can only CDs and DVDs burning and no Blu-Ray, I have myself an PCI x Card bought with the SIL 3132 chip record, but
this does not want to function so correctly. What can I make? Greeting
    from Frankfurt
My System Mac Pro 2008 2x2,8 2 TB HD end 16 GB Ram

The PCI card might be causing your issues. There are 2 SATA ports on the Mac Pro's motherboard that you can attach the drive to, but it can be tricky trying to reach them. Also, make sure you have the latest version of Toast. The minimum requirement is version 8, but version 9 is recommended.

  • Mac Pro Vista Install Experience Notes

Well, I read many posts on this board and others before taking the plunge. Got my new Pro about two weeks ago; decided to do this cause the kids are buggin me about "games", whatever those are. Man, oh man, do you PC users ever have my undying sympathy and respect after going through this! Man, and, uh, WOman, you've certainly got a pair, <choose which pair here>. ; )
Its hard to believe all the fun I've been missing by actually USING my computer all these years as a MAC user instead of working on it! YOWSER!
Anyways, for all you masochists out there, here's some painful details:
Still having a very clean HD, or so I thought! I installed bootcamp and followed the instructions to create a 32GB partition (and NO more than 32GB mind you, because, this is WINDOWS and that's what it said).
Then, having created my trusty Vista install disk (oh, did I forget to mention, how could I, that it took me 2 HOURS to get a MICROSOFT PRODUCT KEY by following just these easy 79 steps? AND THEN I DIDN'T NEED IT! Funny, ha ha. Boy, they had me rolling after that one!)
Then, following the bootcamp instructions carefully, I started windows, which then asked me for the second time to identify a partition for windows. Weird though, it listed FOUR partitions when I could swear I only had 2: one for OSX and the one I created in bootcamp for Vista! Four? Yep! Well, this one should be easy....just select the one that is 32GB cause that is the size I created in bootcamp....click ok....and YOUR DISK DRIVERS ARE SO SCREWED UP THAT WE ARE LAUGHING IN REDMOND! or some such error code!
After reading enough notes on this board (thank you, all), I learned that there seemed to be a general problem with the partitioning recognition in windows, and that many, by the simple act of deleting a partition, got Windows to work correctly.
NOW THE HARD PART: staring at the list of partitions, It said I had a 200GB, a 201GB, a 128MB and a 32GB partition. Huh? I only have a 250GB drive! How's that work? After thinking this through scientifically, I mentally flipped a coin and decided to delete the 201GB partition for the reasons that it was listed second in the list and 201GB sounded FUNNY. So.....click on 201GB....then delete....ZAP! GONE! with a friendly little reminder that all my data was being deleted! yikes!
well, after a couple of crashes on startup, Vista now seems to be working somewhat as expected, and, JOY OF JOYS!, holding down the option key I could still boot into good old OS X and there was my data! whew!
so, I don't know if this will help anybody or not, because its not very scientific and all, as I just seemed to have lucked into picking the right partition to delete! and still live to see another day.
please, someone pat me on the back before I realize what I just did.

It was a "learning experience." There are always hidden partitions. That 128MB is probably the Mac EFI partition? There is always some hidden partition in-between each user partition too.
I would install Vista but afraid I'm not ready to install all the security, AV and other tools to feel safe on the net.

  • MAC PRO LAPTOP (installed windows 7)

Hope you can help me regarding my problem. I divided my mac pro into two (mac & windows 7). I bought the windows 7 in Jarir bookstore which is original.
Last December 2013, windows 7 was installed in my mac and its fine. And now I'm encountering a problem that the Windows 7 that I nstalled was not genuine. And the screen turns black when I tried to insert the product key it didn't accept. What shall I do?

Did you download the Windows Support files when it prompted you to do so in Boot Camp Assistant? If not then you'll need to boot back into OS X and downloaed them form Apple. They are on the Apple Download site. Support Downloads.
