AT&T Used My OLD AT&T SIM Card; Should I insist they use my NEW iPhone SIM?

Hello all!
I got my iPhone 3G at an Authorized AT&T store. It bothered me then, and it bothers me now, that the rep simply pulled my existing AT&T Sim Card from my RAZR and put it into the iPhone 3G. Was this purely to save time?
I'm not experiencing any problems, and there is no 3G network in my area yet, but I thought I read something on the internet that suggested there are reasons to use the newest SIM Card that shipped with the iPhone 3G instead of my older card as the newer SIMS are a more modern architecture and better equipped to work with the iPhone 3G. True?
Should I return to the AT&T store or Apple Store and have them prep my iPhone newer SIM card? What would YOU do?

That may well be true - and thanks for your reply mainsano13 - but I have the ability to sync from my MacPro back to the new iPhone anyway. But what you say is probably correct and they wanted no liability for losing my data. But, I still wonder, if I should go back and ask them to transfer my old card data to the newer more modern (and one assumes) improved SIM card technology.

I have a new powerbook and want to give my girlfriend my old G4 power book, she has a new iphone 5s, and wants to create a new itunes/apple id. When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

i got my new iphone a week ago. i started using it straight away, before i knew about icloud and that i could sync all my contacts, etc to the new phone. i then turned on icloud for contacts - this worked fine. today i tried putting my music onto my phone. i clicked 'recognise a B's iphone' in itunes - this has synced music and apps. the only problem is that i have lost all my text messages from the last week. the phone is showing old messages from december 2012 only! can i delete these and get my recent messages back??

You did more than sync the new iPhone with iTunes since syncing with iTunes does not include text messages.
The first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or set up the device as a new iPhone.
The former replaces all data on the iPhone that is included with the selected backup for the other iPhone or iOS device. The latter does not.
If a backup for your new iPhone was not created with iCloud or if created and has been updated since the backup was transferred from the other iPhone or iOS device, the previous data on the new iPhone is gone.

I just got a new iphone 5s as an upgrade from AT&T here in the US. I am going to Brazil and I want to use it there. I spoke with AT&T and they said that since I am under contract, I cannot unlock it, therefore I can't use it in Brazil. This seems ridiculous that I can't use my nice new phone when traveling! Only AT&T can unlock it. If the won't you cannot use it in Brazil except by paying roaming rates.

Thank you everyone with the help. You guys are totally cool. However, because I am new to this for some reason I have a few thousand songs I have in the Itunes cloud I was only able to see 167 odd songs. It does show my log in thou. Probably the best thing to do is to go into the Apple store in Santa Rosa and get some help. The Apple people will make it look simple on my beginer mistakes. All is ok thou, this is a cool phone I just need to pratice and get use to things.
