At start launches OS X Utilities and I cannot reinstall OS X or repair disk or else...
I'm stuck on OS X Utilities and I cannot restart the mac. I've tried all options but it looks that nothing works. Help...
Yet another example of why it's a VERY BAD IDEA to do a clean install of Lion unless you are already VERY familiar with how to tweak the Mac OS. There's a reason Apple engineers removed it as an option. To accomplish it you have to erase your disk; not for the faint hearted.
Do you have a backup? PLEASE don't tell us you did this without a robust backup.
You erased the operating machine, so your computer went to the only place it could find one, the Recovery partition. And it's minimal, so it has to download everything in small chunks to reinstall itself. So yeah, it could take 10 hours.
Here's another option. Do you still have the original disks that came with your machine? Put one in and restart from it. You can reinstall your old system much faster. Then go to the Mac App Store and your purchase history and see if you can redownload Lion (I think that still works).
And this time just do yourself a favor and install per Apple's instructions. When the machine starts into Lion, use Setup ***'t (the first thing that fires up) to migrate from your backup.

It sounds like you are in Maverick (OSX 10.9) not Lion (OSX 10.7.4) and have deleted Pages '09.

don't forget that, in fact, your photos were not "contained" in photoshop, but on the hard disk of your ( now crashed ? ) computer. Tell us something about that crashed machine: do you still have it , did someone try to retrieve some info out of it, what was the diagnostic of repairmen, etc...Did you have a backup of these photos ? -
The textbox for setting a start page is grayed out, and I cannot change the start page.
When I go to Options form, the textbox for "Mozilla Firefox Start page" is grayed out, and unchangeable. If I navigate to a page, then set that as my start page, closing and restarting Firefox reverts back to the Firefox/Google startpage - my home page setting is not being saved.
I have tried resetting Firefox, restarting with add-ons disabled, even deleting and recreating a new profile, but it still does this.Well, I lack the sufficient administrator privileges to uninstall the current install of Firefox, but - oddly enough - not to install a new copy to another folder.
So I installed the software, and viola - it worked!

Starting fresh with a SSD and I cannot find my Snow Leopard disc...
So I have a Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8, 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8 GB ram, and I am trying to move my OS over to a Solid State Drive. I have the original instal disc for 10.5 but I cannot find my Snow Leopard disc.
So I installed 10.5 on the SSD but can't figure out anyway to upgrade to 10.6, at which point I can purchase Mountain Lion or whatever, but you can't upgrade beyond Snow Leopard without first having Snow Leopard, right?
I know I can "clone" my original SATA drive with Snow Leopard, but part of the reason I am doing this is to get rid of a bunch of the useless crap on that drive, so I'd like to avoid a full clone.
I know it's only $20 to buy a fresh version of Snow Leopard, but on 10.5 there is no App Store, and there doesn't seem to be anyway to purchase it online as a download. So I would need to go to a real life store or have it shipped, right?
So if there is some other way to upgrade or to clone JUST the OS without any of the other crap, that would be amazing!
Thoughts?!Why not download and look at its options? I recommended for that and other reasons.
And yes you should move all your data to another drive. Keep what you have 'as is' and pull it as extra backup or in reserve.
Before you clone, install TRIM Enabler!
And after you clone, run Disk Utility's REPAIR DISK on the SSD -- just to be on the safest side.

I'm running the latest OS 10.9.1 Mavericks (late 2009 iMac). 8 gigs of RAM. 150 gigs free space on computer. Since upgrading to Mavericks, apps are slow to open, with frequent "spinning ball" interruptions. Repaired Disk Permissions - no help. Repaired disk - no problems indicated. Did notice in going to Utilities/Console that there are 4000 messages over a 3 day period. Any suggesstions how to correct this sudden slow down, other than psychiatric help?

I have not been able to reinstall Acrobat Pro on my laptop. I have Suite 6 Design & Web Premium on my HP laptop. I have Windows 7 operating system. All of a sudden Acrobat Pro will not open so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall the program.
The error messages I get are:

App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection and the app hung; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), synching does not help; itunes app store says it is installed, therefore I cannot reinstall; deleting the app from itunes and synching does not reinstall the app on the ipod; the app developers have not helped and told me to check with Apple (which I am doing, since I am past my 90 day tech support). Hoping someone can help with this hung "waiting' app problem.
- First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next download the app on the computer and try to sync.
- Last, restore from backup. -
Had itunes before after virus my computer deleted all intalled items and now cannot reinstall itunes
I have previously had iTunes. My computer got a virus after a few years of having it and I allowed it to uninstall everything I have installed on the computer. So that fixed the virus but I am now trying to get my photos off my iPhone to put on my new phone. I have tried downloading it off the home page and it says "Thank you" but the box never pops up to ask if I want to "run" it. I tried using the forms on iTunes Support. It told me to uninstall iTunes (and its various things with it in a certian order) using the command prompt. The only thing my computer had that associtated with Apple was the Bonjour and I uninstalled it and tired the download and again it didn't work. I then reset my computer and tried to reinstall it and it still wont work. Any suggestions? I need help
There is some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded. As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:

When I upgraded Adobe Flash it disabled my Themes and i cannot reinstall it.
Installed Adobe Flash (AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11au_aih.dmg) yesterday and it disabled my Theme and I cannot restore the Theme. I have tried restarting, etc. I'm using an iMac running Firefox 20.0
In order to switch to another persona that you had previously installed, do the following:
#Go to ''Tools'' and click ''Add-ons'' (or click the Firefox button at the top left and click ''Add-ons'').
#Switch to the ''Appearance'' tab. You should find your previously used personas in the list.
#Find the one you want to use and click the ''Enable'' button.
To uninstall the other ones you can click the ''Remove'' button on them and they'll be uninstalled instantly. -

Ever since the new OS came out about 3 weeks ago, my Q10 automatically updated it to this newest OS. Subsequently there appeared to be a newer version of Blackberry link on my desk top. However, when I started to update it, the installaion seemed to have stopped duirng the process and the desktop icon was gone. I could not find the software anywhere on my computer. When I tried to download from scratch from BB.com, during installation it tells me a newer version has been installed on my computer and if I want to install this (being downloaded) version, I have t odelete the newer version first. I am stucked, I cannot find any tract of BB link on my computer. I have also tried the uninstall section but the software does not seem to exist. Please help.

Hi guys, my macbook recently stopped working. Every time I switch it on without pressing any buttons it shows a question mark on a folder. I know that means that the Mac does not read an OS, thus the question mark. I tried to erase all the files, but it always took a lot of time but never really got erased, so when I restarted the macbook pro again, the disk was gone from the utilities disk (I booted it with cmd+r) so I decided to try reinstalling the OS X mountain lion but it says It cannot write the files on my Mac. Please help
Sounds like your disk drive died. Take it to Apple and ask them to check it out for you.

We are finding Mavericks networking to be a big change without corresponding changes being made to help people keep the network naming correct.

SMB has tighter rules.
But whenever you change networks.. start with a factory reset. When you say reinitiate I am not sure what reset you are doing. So do the full reset. It will not delete any backup.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Redo the setup using the airport utility. Make sure you are connecting your modem to the TC WAN port by ethernet.
Give the TC names that are pure alphanumeric. Short.. 10 characters or less is best.. 20 characters try to keep as max. No spaces and no special characters. The setup wizard will use names like

It is over long.. it has spaces and it has a nasty apostrophe. Get rid of those names.
For example use,
TCGenX (you can put a number for X.. that is the actual Gen of your TC)
TCwifi (as wifi name.. but you can also use different names like TC24ghz and TC5ghz for the different bands whilst troubleshooting).
Use only WPA2 Personal security with 10-20 character pure alphanumeric password.
Ensure the computer is getting a valid IP address. Plus gateway (what apple call router) and dns.
Ensure ipv6 is set to link-local on the wireless.
That is the start.
Now disk access can still be a mess.
I have now setup 4 different computers for Mavericks.. my network follows all the above rules.. and two of them can access the disk without problem and two do not show the disk.
I consider this situation to be networking of the tin can and wet string kind..
The solution is to manually mount the drive.
In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
And change over to AFP.
AFP://TCname.local (where you use your new compliant name.. in place of TCname and you use the correct domain in the place of local (but that is the default for the TC although nothing tells you that).
Alternatively you can use IP address.
AFP://10.0.1.1 (by default in router mode.. if the TC is bridged you will be better using the name unless you can set the IP statically).
Just post again if you have issues.. and we need the full layout of the network.. what modem what router what mode everything is in. how it is wired or connected. Actual model of your TC, actual firmware it is running.
