At startup recovery laptop only goes to blue screen

At startup have the opption to start computer normally, which doesn´t work, or launch startup files, which loads the files then goes to a blue screen with white light and just sits there.  A new version of Mozilla-Foxfire was automatically downloaded at a previous startup. HELP PLEASE!

HI,
Start your notebook in Safe Mode by pressing the power button and imeddiately begin tapping the F8 key. When given the option of which kind of safe mode to invoke, choose the normal Safe Mode (at the top of the list).
Now that you are in Safe mode you can use Microsoft Recovery to restore you PC to an earlier point in time before the problem began.

Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1

  • My mac pro only shows a blue screen during startup? how do i get out of this to the desktop?

Cannot access the desktop, only the Apple sign and pinwheel icon come on, after a couple minutes it goes to blue screen only. Have held shift during bootup to start in safemode, but this doesnt even allow you to choose safe mode. Please help.

Try holding option+Apple Command + s keys to get into single user mode.  May be a little unnerving as it will get you to text based screen. Grab a pencil and paper and copy the commands that are listed also pay attention to the spaces.
    /sbin/fsck -fy <return>
If the it says File System Modified hit the up arrow key it will repeat the line you typed. Hit return.
If it DOES NOT say modified then type in the second line.
    /sbin/mount -uw /<return>
    At the prompt type reboot<return>
Let us know if it helps.

  • On startup Mac Pro I get a blue screen and a cursor on the upper left. The mouse cursor shows up independently. Is it likely a video card failure?

On startup Mac Pro I get a blue screen and a cursor on the upper left. The mouse cursor shows up independently. Is it likely a video card failure?

I managed to boot the computer and get the desktop to show. I now have a "repaired" computer. There are several problems that have cropped up. One is that I can only start up now in Safe Boot mode. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, I do not have a sound list, so I can't access anything requiring audio. Google Chrome only shows up as a white screen. Pictures that loaded before don't load in browsers, etc. Any suggestions? I figure I should reinstall Mac OS Lion for starts, maybe even do a mirror backup and reformat the drive. I think this drive has turned into scrambled eggs...what a headache!

  • Reboot only gives a blue screen on my iBook G4

Got MS Office for Xmas. Installed it and it worked fine. This a.m. I installed an update. While surfing the web my mouse froze - had to reboot while holding down command and ctrl.
Every time I did this I could work for a shorter and shorter period of time before the mouse would freeze again. Got out the manual and managed to get the install 1 disk into the drive.
Manual says "Choose Installer>Open disk utility ...etc.
I saw nothing called "Installer" so tried to look it up in spotlight - found it, clicked on it and the whole thing froze up again. As I have been trying various things , the computer allows me less and less time before it freezes up.
Now I am to the point of rebooting and most times getting only afrozen light blue screen, andsome times getting the desk top and then getting a glimpse of the Install Disk 1 contents and trying to find "Installer" Or "disk utility" I am allowed one or two mouse clicks and freeze up happens again.
As I write this on my PC I keep trying to reboot my MAC laptop using command ctrl and now for the last 4 reboots I only get the light blue screen. I think I'm dead in the H2O.
Got any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    Al

Option 1: put your original Mac OS install disk #1
into the CD drive and then shut down the computer.
press the power button, release it, and immediately
press and hold the C key. this will boot the
computer off the CD. after you click the language,
you'll see the install screen - don't install, go up
to the menu at the top and switch to Disk Utility.
select your hard drive and run a Disk Repair and a
Permissions Repair. Note any errors that appear when
you run the Disk Repair (don't bother noting anything
during the Permissions Repair). Quit and reboot your
    computer.
If that doesn't work - I'll reply with Option 2.
Well thanks for the tip on how to start from the installer disk. I was holding down "c" when I pushed the power button rather than hitting just after pushing power. I went thru the repair disk and permissions deal and got several things listed that were being checked in the repair disk list. The only one that came up red was "illegal name" I swear to God this is MY computer and not somebody elses, and the copy of MS Office was legal and official.
I restarted and got the dead blue screen again.
I restarted again using command ctrl and got to the desk top and was allowed 2 mouse clicks before the screen completely froze.
I tried restarting from the install disk 3 more times before I could make it work. I think it's kinda like double clicking a mouse - you have to hit the "c" key at just the right time. "repair disk" this time said I had no problems. "Repair permissions" changed a bunch of stuff so fast that I couldn't even read it.
Restarted again and now for 15 mins it has worked perfectly!!!
Thank you Oh Wise One! Now I have to go out and do somebody a favor to repay you! THANKS!!!

  • IBook G4 Goes to Blue Screen at Startup

    Hi,
My iBook G4, which is over 2 years old, won't startup to my hard drive. When I start it up, I can get to the grey apple with the loading circle, and everything seems normal. Then it goes to the blue screen where it usually begins to load my operating system (Tiger OS X), except it just stalls at the blue screen.
I have tried the following fixes:
1.Starting in Safe Mode (holding down "Shift" at startup): the computer takes longer (a few minutes) at the grey apple screen with the loading circle, but then it goes to the blue screen.
2.Booting from my OS install disk (inserting disk and holding "C" at startup): no change in behavior.
3.Resetting PRAM: no change in behavior.
I have had to do a hard shut down ten times now because it just blanks at this blue screen.
Other details: Before it stopped starting up, I had been running out of hard drive space. The computer also was freezing on me as I worked in applications.
Any help would be very much appreciated. I would love to be able to save my hard drive, as much of it is not backed up (and yes, now I know the dangers of not backing up).
    Thank you, David

I too am having the same problem, Blue Screen freeze at start up. My symptoms, and attempted repairs are identical, except I don't get to view the desktop at all after fsck -y, it just reboots and stalls at the blue screen. The one difference is that prior to trying to repair with fsck -y, the iBook would boot and when it stalled instead of the blue screen I would get a strobe like effect from the screen. After Fsck -y, I didn't get the flashing again.
    Please Help someone

  • GE60 0NC-622UK laptop is stuck on Blue Screen can't login! please help..

Had this laptop for just one month, before it's all good. Windows 8 64bit.
In last two days, the mouse and touchpad became dysfunctional occasionally, able to move the pointer but just could't click on anything regardless of left or right, e.g. choose or open new. It would be working after logoff/relogin and reboot, but same problem still came up randomly.
Last night, I did the same thing to reboot the laptop after had the pointer dysfunction, but then it displayed a blue screen before the login with a error called 'System Thread Exception Not Handled', and then just stayed on this page would't reboot automatically (waited for 30 mins), so it left me no choice to shut it down by pressing power on/off button manually, afterwards with couple of times rebooting, it just kept going into this same blue screen and could't get into the system...Sometimes it would automatically start diagnosing before blue screen, ask me to restore or repair, but none of them fixed the problem, repeatedly stuck on blue screen every time...
And I don't have any windows 8 dvd, delivered box only has one for drivers and manual book.. so boot from dvd is not possible..
p.s. sorry about my english if caused confusion
    thanks..

Try starting Windows 8 in Safe Mode, its kinda difficult in Windows 8 to do you have to be very precise when doing it, right as the system boots you need to start spamming F8 sometimes you have to do Shift+F8.
You may want to disable fast boot in the BIOS so you have some time to get ready to hit the buttons, once you get the boot menu up try Start Up Repair first and see if it fixes anything then try booting, if noting then try safe mode and un-do anything you have done to the system recently.
Let me know how this goes.
    Really appreciated your help!
I get into troubleshooting page by pressing F3 when laptop was booting up, and changed start up with Safe mode which works..I've done many things in Safe mode, like updated drivers, run anti-virus program, deleted recent installed software, and then somehow the blue screen error was gone after reboot...It seems one of them must be the cause for that problem.
Anyway, my laptop is working properly now, thanks a lot, if error happens again in future i might still need some help

  • HP dv9740us not going past blue screen with page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error

I have had very few problems with my laptop until recently.  I have had a couple of minor crashes that I could fix by doing a hard restart.  Last night, I was playing an online game and suddenly my game started to bog down then it froze up completely.  I tried to ctrl+alt+delete to restart and nothing happened.  So I ended up holding down the power button until it shut down.  As soon as it started to reboot, it went into a black screen asking for start up repair or start windows normally.  I tried repair, and it took me to the screen, did a little running of the program, then went black.  When I was ready to hit the power button it flashed several windows in both blue and black and finally ended up with the blue screen telling me I had the page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error.  I tried several things:  restarted again, ran disk tests on both disks(passed), a memory test(passed), and am now backing stuff up to an external drive.  It will not get past that error or that blue screen.  Both my husband and I have decent experience with this kind of thing, but neither of us are able to fix it.  I also tried to follow the instructions for reseating the memory.  Nothing works.  I don't want to lose my important files, especially all of the pictures of my son's first year.  Please Help!!!
I want to add that I have not added any new programs lately.  The only thing causing problems has been a PC Matic add-on to do real time protection.  That stops working everytime I open windows.

This Stop message occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which normally indicates that the system looks for data in the paging file. In this circumstance, however, the missing data is identified as being located within an area of memory that cannot be paged out to disk. The system faults, but cannot find, the data and is unable to recover. Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.

  • Ibook is restarting itself and will only load a blue screen

so a couple weeks ago i was having issues with my ibook and safari..safari would keep on freezing and or quit on its own..i thought my software was out of date so i went and got Tiger...when i went to install tiger i was unable to use the upgrade and the archive and install feature, thus leaving me with erase and install...so after deleting my hard drive and installing tiger i ran into more issues with my ibook...ive been trying to do software updates but half way through the download it will freeze up thus making me force quit the program and download...then my ibook would only load the blue background of the desk top but not the icon for the hard drive or any of the things on the expose..in attempting to get into disk utilities the ibook would reset itself...finally, when i tried to start up in safe mode i was only able to get to where you type in your password and no further than that...after hitting enter the password window would just open again...with all this being said..can anyone help me with this issue?i am fearing that it could be the mother board or even the hard drive but about two years ago i had my mother board replaced...so i duno whats going on

Some iBooks (like mine) had a separate disc with the Apple Hardware Test--others had it on one of the install discs but I'm not sure which one. It sounds a lot like you might have hardware issues of some kind since reinstalling the OS didn't fix the problem. I am assuming that you don't have easy access to an Apple store where someone at the genius bar could possibly help you come up with a diagnosis. Also, I am assuming you actually erased your hard drive rather than deleting it as you said in your post.
You might want to check and see which discs you do have and determine what is missing. If Apple itself did the last repair and did not return the disc, you could talk to Apple Customer Relations and explain your situation and see if they would send you a replacement disc, as it really should have been returned. If it was done by someone other than Apple, you can still probably get a replacement but there will likely be a fee. And if you do by chance have the AHT, by all means run it.
Otherwise, you will have to appeal to the more knowledgeable and experienced members of the forum for help, but I believe you will still need the original install discs. If you have another Mac, there may be some other approaches that can be tried, but I personally have not ever done this so I can't really help with that.
    Good luck!
