  • 8120 Reboots on its own, T-Mobile

Picked up the new T-Mobile Pearl 8120 today. I have had a reboot issue. I have already swapped the phone out but am thinking something else is up because it is also doing it on the one I swapped out for.
    What happens:
When the phone is just sitting, not on a phone call or using data, on or off of UMA the 8120 will reboot.
    Details:
    New Pearl 8120 T-Mobile
    OS 4.3.0.115
    No 3rd Party Apps Installed
Also got a New SIM when problem occurred
    Observations:
The media card maybe playing a role. In the first phone it seemed like the phone did not want to boot with a 1GB SanDisk Micro SDCard.
The replacement phone will boot with the media card but I have since pulled it out to see if this has an effect on the reboot issue. I will report back on that.
Any comments or experiences with this would be greatly appreciated. It is also my understanding that 4.3.0.115 is the latest OS.
Also all basic troubleshooting steps have been performed.
I have heard a few other reports of this today. Please provide ideas and feedback.

We have a T-Mobile corporate account with several of these 8120's.  We have had them since mid-July and now 3 out of 10 of them are having the reboot issue as well.  We, however, do not have or use any memory cards in them, so I don't think that is the problem either.  We've reinstalled the software (they had the same version as the newest already installed) as tech support has suggested, and still the problem happens.  It happens sometimes when the phone is idle, but most of the time they reboot during a conversation.  This is quite annoying as they are business phones and it takes 3-5 minutes for the phone to complete the reboot process.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do i edit the service book on my pearl 8120

I bought a sim free pearl 8120 from the carphone warehouse in the summer and put a virgin mobile sim card in it everything works fine but the picture messaging i have contacted virgin and they have sent me what i need to put into the service book but i dont seem to be able to change it
Any information please let me know
Or if you know how to directly contact RIM because i got annoyed with the sites navigation........

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
What did they send you? Can you post the file name?
You can't contact RIM directly without a per incident charge fee. Your carrier handles the initial support and warranty on the device, and you must go through the carrier. You can call them and ask to be bumped up to a RIM support level.

  • Mapping software/website for 8120 Pearl

Hi, I'm wondering what the best mapping software or website is for the 8120 Pearl.  I'm talking about something like a Google maps application, I don't need GPS.  I do have the Google maps mobile software but it requires A LOT of data transfer.  Is there anything else out there that is less data-intensive and has good coverage in Canada?  Thanks a lot.

Most of them require GPS. Google Maps is a good one that doesn't, as it allows the cell tower location service to find you.
    Have you tried BlackBerry Maps?

  • Pearl 8120: USB keeps reloading and reloading

I installed a MicroSD and now when I plug in my phone into the USB, the USB will load. However, it will keep reloading and reloading the drive making it impossible for me to transfer files using both the Mass Storage mode using 'My computer' or Roxio Media Manager. I tried changing the settings for Media card for auto enable mass storage when connected to 'yes', 'no', and 'prompt' but it still just keeps reloading, leaves the drive alone for 5-45 secs then reloads the drive. BTW, this is when I have both the desktop manager on and off. I have a feeling it has to be something with the mass storage mode because it worked fine before I put a micro SD card in it. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Any Ideas?

Your OS .52 is quite old... upgrade.
Download and instructions are in this link. Pretty simple process. Just do your own backup FIRST, using Desktop Manager.

If so, how do I do it?

Nope, sorry. Only 8100 OS for the 8100.
    Here's the link and instructions.
Do a complete backup first, using Desktop Manager.

  • 8120 Media Sync - "Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync"

I got a new (refurbished from ebay) Pearl 8120.  I just downloaded the newest Desktop Manager and Media Sync software.  The Desktop Manager  works fine with the Pearl.  The 8GB microSDHC card was formatted and has worked fine in the phone so far.  However, when I try to use the Media Sync software, I get this error:
"Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync.  Please check that
    (1) a memory card is installed correctly in your Blackberry device
    (2) mass storage mode is turned on for your blackberry device."
I have checked both these things.  I have tried running the program in XP compatibility mode and as administrator.  Also, my computer doesn't recognize the phone as a mass storage device (is it supposed to?).  I can always use my card reader to put files on my card, but I'd like to be able to use the Media Sync software.
    My OS is version 4.5.0.124
edit: Now it sometimes tells me "You need to turn on mass storage mode from the connected Blackberry Device and click Retry.  This may require you to reconnect your device."
In my settings I have Mass Storage Mode Support: On.  Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes.
I've reconnected the device and everything.  I've reloaded the card and restarted the phone.  Media Sync still gives me errors and Windows still doesn't see the phone as a mass storage device.

Hi, a simple solution is to take out humbly your previous phone from the closet (or thrashbin), put the microSD card into it and connect it to PC again. And you thought you would never use it again once you have that "awesome" Blackberry... :-)
I did this with my Nokia 6120. Also works with any standard microSD reader.

  • Mac Mail is constantly forwarding same email to my BB 8120.

I'm suffering an annoying problem whenever I type a new email using my Mac Mail (Version 3.3).
As I compose a new email I'm constantly bombarded by new message alerts on my Blackberry 8120 of the actual email I'm writing. It is sending multiple alerts even as I am still writing the same message.
So for example I'll open Mac Mail and type in the subject box, cue an alert on my phone notifying me of a new message. This "new" message is actually the email I'm still writing on the Mac Mail. I'll carry on typing the email and yet again I will be notified on my phone of a new message.... and yes you guessed it, it's the email I'm still composing, only now it contains the subject and the few words that I have typed, and so this carries on.... and on.
It seems that if I don't type it does not send anything, but the moment I type several words, beep! I have a new message. Typically I'll end up with five message alerts each showing various stages of my email.
As you might expect It's beginning to really grate me.
If anybody can help me I would be very grateful.
    Kind Regards
    Richard001

But this is just a workaround solution. I am basically loosing the ablity to save my draft mail to the server and may  later send it from my office or any other place where i dont have my macbook with me.
This doesnt happen when i save draft from the web-gmail or with microsoft euntroge (I havent checked whether euntroge puts the draft message on the server ).
I use a gmail account. Have anyone of you found issues with any other email account?

  • BB Pearl 8120 T mobile

Is there anyway to read my email from my wideopenwest account on my 8120 if I don't have bb internet package?  From the T Mobile website, I have my email being forwarded to my 8120 as a text message (I think).  I can see the sender and the subject but cannot read the body of the email.  The number on the top of the email is 700 with the mailbox icon, which is normally a phone number when I get an actual text message.  I can get on the internet and log in to my email with wideopenwest but the phone will not show the emails that way either.  I can log in--then nothing.  I have WIFI so I can get on the internet without paying for the BB internet package.

I am having the same issue with my 8120.  My home emails show up as both a text message and as a email, with the 700 in the upper left part of the screen.  My work emails go through the enterprise system and only show up as emails.  I have been working with the t-mobile store where i got the phone but they have not gotten back to me with a answer from blackberry technical.  This is really getting annoying because it does not need to show up twice.  I tried to separate the text from emails but that did not work.  Like you said the emails that come in as text i am not able to read either.  Help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

  • 8120 call list and email list resets

I have a Pearl 8120 and the call list and email / SMS list keeps resetting.  It's fairly frustrating since I can't retain emails for long or return some calls.
The software is up to date and I'm using Desktop 6 (just downloaded).
    Any tips would be appreciated.

    1.  First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?
Now, leaving the device powered ON, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?
    2. What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.x.xxx"
    What is yours?

    I have two questions:
    1. Blackberry Pearl 8130 dont have edge, then is it far to say that its the email downloading will be slow then Pearl 8120?
    2. I see videos of Pearl 8120 and the display is colored but on the website I found that color display for 8120 is not checked. Can anyone please verify if the display is 8120 is colored or not?
    Thanks

The 8130 model is on the CDMA network, and will or should have EVDO or 1XEV, basically the equivalent 3G or a faster speed than EDGE in most cases.

Not that I'm aware of, if you look at Whatsapp on BlackBerry World, 8120 is not listed as one of the supported devices.

  • 8120 Incoming email messages in bold?

I believe the 8100 had a feature where you could display incoming messages without them being in bold before being read, only the envelope was highlighted.  Does this feature exist in the 8120 and if so, where do I find it.?  Thank you in advance for your consideration.  MRH

This feature is not specific to Pearl 8100 only rather its BlackBerry OS feature. It is available with 8120 as well.

    Dear All,
I have a BB pearl 8120 and i noticed that when ever i make a call, place it on hold and then simultaneuosly make another call, i dont hear it ring and cant seem to connect with my new caller while it shows me connected on the screen. In actual fact it actually rings at the other end and its actually being picked while he or she cant hear me.
This also happens when i place calls on conference, i notice that im able to connect the parties involved but wont be able participate in the conference myself.
    Can anybody pls help?

    Hi,
I am facing the same problem with my Blackberry Pearl 8120 mobile.
I hope RIM will resolve this in the next software update for mobile phone.
I found one workaround for this. Call the second person, put them into a conference at this time they can talk to each other. Now press menu and hold the call then resume the call. Mostly you will be in proper conference (all three).
I also hope the experts in the forum suggests better solution
