AT&T contract with Iphones?
I am just nearing my two year contract later this summer. I updated to the 3gs from the first generation iphone. If I want to go to a new carrier, can I? Or will there be some penalty for leaving after my two year contract is up.
I wish to see if I can go somewhere cheaper. Is this allowed or will I have to pay full price for my iphone 3gs? Or by buying the new iphone have I unwittingly signed up for a new two years? Thanks
By upgrading to the iPhone 3G S, you initiated a new 2-year contact. You can pay an early termination fee, if you choose to switch carriers, or you can wait out your 2-year agreement and then leave with no termination fee.
Just in case you didn't know, the iPhone is locked to AT&T in the US, so it won't work with any other carrier.

Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. In
this case, you must work with Telus. If they have a pay as you go
plan, activate the iPhone on Telus that way and then after
you meet whatever requirements Telus has, stop using Telus
and move the iPhone to Virgin. Or sell the iPhone to someone
who can use it on Telus.
Telus is the only one who can unlock that iPhone. -
I'm going to another country for a year and I would like to unlock my phone to take another sim other than my carrier. My contract with my present carrier is finished yet they still wouldnt unlock the iphone 4 for me. How can I be able to unlock it?t
Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
If you do not meet their requirements or they do not offer unlocking there is no official way to unlock the device.

I have an iphone 5 on contract with 3 but the speaker isn't working , I've spoken with my provider and they said I need to take it back to an apple store .is this correct ? Many thanks
If you received you phone as part of the contract then surely from a legal pov your contract is with 3 not Apple unless you bought Applecare, if you bought your phone outright then put your 3 SIM into it then yes you'd have to visit an Apple store with your phone's purchase receipt.

I have a local carrier number, if i by a contract-free iPhone 6 can i swap the T-mobile sim that will be in the phone with my local carrier sim? in other words, IS the contract-free iphone also unlocked so it can be used with any carrier?
The T-mobile phone is advertised to be SIM-free. This does NOT mean unlocked. Unlocked iPhone 6's are not yet for sale in the US.

A Verizon corporate store can provide you with a nano SIM and activate it for you. Corporate stores do not charge for SIMS. I don't know what a reseller might or might not do. -

Go to an O2 location and they will be able to help you.
They should also be able to take any contacts, etc you
have on the blackberry and get them onto your iPhone.
Or call O2 to set up the new sim and do your own data

Unblock my old iphone 4S and terminate my contract with the new iphone 4S
My contract with the old iphone 4s was over last November but I still cannot use it using the SIM from other carrier. Now I also want to terminate my contract with the new iphone 4s, the contract that will end in December 2015. I am currently out of US, neither live chat nor telephone works for me though I tried both ways many times. Is there any other way that I can contact Verizon customer service? Such as an email address?

If it is an unlocked iPhone, GSM model, it should work though will not likely work on an LTE network...those are not consistent in frequencies.
But, keep in mind that the warranty is only valid in the country of sale. If there is a problem with the iPhone, there will be no support for it in India. It will have to be returned to the country of purchase for service support. -
I'm thinking about buying an iphone 5s from an Apple store in the US in a few weeks time when I am there. If i buy it from a store is it factory unlocked or do they all come with contracts? If I bring it home to Ireland will I be able to bring it to my network provider (Vodafone) and get a new sim card put in so I can use it everyday in Ireland?

On the apple website it says you can buy a Tmobile contract free iphone 5s. Is this the same as unlocked?

If you buy it from the Apple Store you can activate it when you buy it. -
I have taken out a new contract with a Samsung S4 as the mobile device. It has a new sim card I got with the contract and new number. However, when friends with iPhones message me it is sending from their phone as iMessage meaning I am not receiving texts from them. Is this a fault on their side or mine? How do I fix the problem so I am receiving messages from them instead of it sending as iMessage and not received on my phone. Please help

My brother got me a contract completed iphone 4S from US and when i put my vodafone sim into it . i got a sim invalid error. So got in touch with ATT and got it unlocked. I followed the steps given by ATT for activating my sim . i backed up the data and erased all content and settings and then inserted my vodafone sim into it But it shows "invalid Sim". Im stuck in setup screen and not able to restore as itunes also shows the same error "invalid sim" . Im not getting the summary screen in itunes .Pls help how i could restore back to atleast the previous condition.
Completing a contract does not magically unlock the device.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore as new again. If it still will not unlock, send it back to your brother to sell to someone in the US that can use it on AT&T or take to Apple for evaluation.
