AT&T Email Server Set Up on Samsung Charge Android Problem

Has anyone had this same problem?
Problem: I get "Setup could not finish - Cannot connect to server" error when trying to update AT&T email (sbcglobal.net) server settings. AT&T changed email server setup on December 11th. I can get the correct setup and connection via Windows Mail on my Vista desktop pc. AT&T email server settings can be found here => http://www.att.com/updatesettings. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem and spent time on the AT&T help line but they could not help with the Verizon Samsung Droid issue. I got my Outlook to work on the desktop and the setup is basically the same. I think the problem is in the Desktop setup in E-Mail Settings on the Advanced Tab there is a check box with a label that says "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) that AT&T requires to be checked. The email setup form on the Samsung Droid does not have that check box or option, so the server will not let the phone connect.
Did you get your issue resolved?

• Email Server Set up

Ok, I'm not new to Macs but I am new to setting up the emai service. I just took the Server Essentials course and learned how to set up an email server using OS X but I am unable to take what I've learned and use it in our environment. A little background:
We're running OS X Server 10.5.8 on a 2x2.3 ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Xserve with 6gb of RAM.
Our mail is POP, hosted by a hosting provider.
We do have a VPN connection.
What I am trying to do (or to find out if I CAN do this) is set up a local mail server to capture all email so we don't have to continuously backup the individual workstations. It would also be very helpful to have a central Address Book. In addition, most of our users are laptop users (all Mac) and may need to connect remotely.
So my questions are these:
How do you set up a mail server for an existing hosted POP account?
If you set up a mail server, how do people get their mail on remote devices, like phones, iPads...?
Would a centralized mail server allow for searching of individual emails?
Any help I can get here would be greatly appreciated. I'm an IT manager but I'm expected to know everything about everything (including electrical work). Every other place or person Ive gone to has been thoroughly specialized and not able to help me with my specific needs.

You would have to transition all your users to the new mail server hosted in-house. You really can't have two separate email systems (other than in a redundancy config) running together. There may be some possible kludge to make that work, but it's probably more work and risky than just hosting all email internally.
DNS will have to point to the proper machine and MX record for mail to flow in and out. My recommendation here is to do this over weekends when no one is usually working and to get DNS working first before moving on to running mail services. This all does pre-suppose that you have a registered domain name (example.com) for this to work, yes?
Based on your requirements, as Camelot pointed out, I would go with an IMAP-only setup. Emails from the POP server/accounts can be transferred to their IMAP account. When I did exactly what you are looking at, I had all users create a NEW distinctly named IMAP email account in their mail client, because it is very probable that your old server will still be active and accessible until you terminate your email services with them. Users can then move their emial folders and messages to your internal server right in the mail client. After they have moved their messages, they can disable the old POP account and run solely on your email server.
Mail storage files can get sizable regardless of the system environment. Email attachments are the real killer in IMAP configs: big attachments, or lots of smaller ones, balloon the email store directory usage. Consider implementing quotas and attachment size limits if is seems appropriate for your environment. (Just yesterday I had to ask one of my users to prune out his emails - his mail store was in excess of 9GB - and threatened quotas if he didn't get a little more proactive on weeding his email folders regularly.)
Would a centralized mail server allow for searching of individual emails?
Only to the same extent that users can search within their own emails. Searching accross accounts - like Tom searching in Jim's emails - isn't allowed at the user level. At admin level, on the server, you could do some grep searches in command line but even that's a little dodgy given the sacrosanct nature that cyrus invokes permissions-wise on contents of the imap/user/ directories.
so we don't have to continuously backup the individual workstations
That works, only to the extent that you are backing up your server. (And Time Machine backups of/on your server and NOT a bulletroof backup solution.) Even then, not having clients backed up is not a wise strategy either. Time Machine is fine at the user/client level, but have a robust backup strategy for your server in place.

• Ios7.1.2 email server authentication error

We have a problem sending email using iMail client on a) iPad (ios7.1.2(11D257) and b) iMac (Auto updating Mavericks OS10). However, we can send email from iPad (ios7.1.1 (11D201). All three devices can receive email.
All machines use the same email account and servers. All are using the same email client. All have been working effectively for past 4 years - the problem started about 1 month ago.
Have spent "hours" with email service provider to troubleshoot the problem. Here is a list of the steps we have taken:
1) checked email servers, confirming that email accounts can both send and receive email. This included testing via a webmail client, and from a Microsoft Outlook client. In both cases the tests confirmed that email can be received AND sent via the email server.
2) setup alternate email servers, on different ports, on iPad - can always receive email but cannot send. The error message that is received is "username or password for 'mail.iinet.net.au' is incorrect"
3) deleted email accounts and rest device to wipe it clean, then started from scratch - can establish the email account, can receive email, but still get the same error message when trying to send email "username of password for 'mail.iinet.net.au' is incorrect"
4) tried alternative email client (CloudMagic, Evomail, Canonball) - not possible to connect to the email account, typical error is "unable to verify your account information"
5) tried to setup account on iPhone across mobile phone network to isolate whether problem was local WiFi - same result
The only thing that has shone any light on this was when we identified the outgoing mail server as "mailout.comhem,se" with no authentication. With this setting email would send. This could suggest a problem with the WiFi network, but it has been working perfectly well up till now, and on other WiFi networks. It also does not explain the problem with iMac from home which is directly connected to an ADSL service provided by our email service provider (no intermediary in play at all). This also means that for every new WiFi network that I use (I travel a lot) I will need to find the details of an intermediate outgoing mail server for the specific WiFi provider. It is not clear why routing through an intermediary email server overcomes the authentication error at the destination email server, unless there is some more fundamental problem at play.
The authentication error has been isolated to somewhere between the device and the server - could there be some ios7.1.2 issue at play that is causing the authentication to fail, but not when directed through an intermediary mail server?
This problem is deeply frustrating, and any help would be greatly appreciated

I haven't ran across this, but I do see that there is no SQL Instance Name in your screenshot. Try putting SQLTMS in there and then click next and see what happens. Or if you know the name of your TMS database instance, put that in there.

Are you getting an error? Is the SMTP server set to authenticate with your username and password? Is SSL enabled?

• How to set up SAPconnect with email server

Hi,
Does any one know how to set up SAPconnect with email server
We are using workflow and when it fails it we are sending the notification mail to the user on his company mail id, i.e. [email protected]
This is working in the current production system. We are doing the new development which will replace the current production system. The existing Basis team does not know how it was setup in production system and how to set it up in the new system.
When we send any mail notification from workflow we can see the mail in SCOT transaction but it is not received at the specified mail address.
Can any one provide the configuration steps or any document for this.
Thanks in advance..

My icloud email messages disappear on all my devices after about a week and I cannot locate them - not in archive on icloud.
I use several devices to receive emails - imac, ipad, iphone and samsung galaxy note. I put all read emails to trash on samsung, ipad and iphone but keep on imac and wish to retain there for reference. All other accounts remain but icloud emails disappear. No devices say to delete from server. Can anyone please help?

If this is your iCloud email account, whcn you delete an email from any of your devices, they are moved to the trash on all devices/computers, then the trash is automatically deleted after 30 days. That's how IMAP accounts work. You can't delete them from your device and keep it on the server because you are reading and deleting from the server itself.
If you want to keep them on your Mac, you'll need to move them to a folder rather than deleting them. When you do, they will be moved to the same folder on your other devices.

• Setting up email server address- can't get the / key to work!

Hi!
I have a Blackberry 8900 Curve that I have been given today as a work phone.
I have followed the instructions to set up my work email on there. When promted to enter the work email server address, I can't seem to use the slash / symbol which is above the G key on the keyboard. I have Used the Alt key then pressed G, but all I get is a G!
I have looked under the symbols menu and that has not worked. Also, I have noticed that it will only let me input certain symbols at this point, so perhaps this has been locked somehow?
If it helps, at the top right of the screen is a small box containing '123' when I enter the section to enter the address. Perhaps I have some kind of lock on? But this goes away when i go to other fields in the setup wizard.
Hope this makes sense! Any help would be fab, as this is a phone used by an old colleague and I do not have the manual!! The IT support team are being as helpful as ever................!
Thanks in advance!

On the BlackBerry smartphone in the Enterprise Activation screen, the
BlackBerry smartphone user types the email address and activation
password.
You shouldn't be entering a server address.

• Setting Email Synchronization on a 602 LAN SUITE 2004 email server

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 which is connected via Digicel Pacific and am trying to synch up my device with my work email which operates via Outlook 2010 through a 602 LAN Suite 2004 server.
I keep getting error messages when attempting to set up the email address on my phone.
Can someone tell me if it is possible to synch up your phone to outlook via a 602 LAN Suite 2004 server
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I don't know what "LAN Suite 2004 email server" is specifically, but I do know that, via BIS, the BB can be configured to work with virtually any internet-facing email system. See this:
KB15499 How to set up a BlackBerry Internet Service email address from the BlackBerry smartphone
As long as your email system provides some facing to the internet (e.g., POP, IMAP, OWA), then BIS can integrate it.
On the other hand, if you are instead attempting to configure a BES environment (e.g., BES interfacing to your email system, and BES facing the internet to provide connectivity to your BBs), then that's a different kettle of fish entirely, and you'll likely have better luck asking other BES admins in our BES dedicated section of this site:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Solutions/ct-p/BlackBerryBoards#nobanner
So, with that, if you can clarify which environment fits your purposes, then maybe we can move forward...unless there is someone else with specific experience with your email server, that is.
Oh...one more thing...

• Using nsMail email server, works fine in ns email tool, as of yesterday TBird 31.3.0 can not send or receive email. Have verified all setting for IMAP/SMTP OK.

Will not retrieve incoming emails. When I try to send one, error message appears: "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.ullisart.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator." I have checked all IMAP/SMTP settings and they are fine. I can receive and send emails to the same address via the email server provider's email tool. Using nsMail, WIndows8, Firefox, latest version of TBird. All worked fine two days OK and have made no known changes to computer installation since.

ExchangeITPro,
Thank you for your reply.

As noted in the first paragraph: "We have an Exchange 2010 server, running under Windows 2008R2. Both
the server and Exchange are current for Windows and Exchange updates. Exchange is on SP3 installed about a month ago with no errors reported in the event logs."

Done previously as well as the entire server. No change.

• BB Curve 9300 - Set up email server

How do you change the email server incoming and outgoing options? I need to change to a pop3 server

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You must do it when you are originally configuring the email account...once configured, you cannot edit it. See this KB:
KB10154 How to integrate a POP or IMAP email account through advanced integration
Usually, to get to the manual configuration screens, you need to provide your valid email address but an invalid password. Then it will offer the manual configuration screens, at which you can direct it to a specific server.
Good luck!

• I have 2 email addresses set up on my iphone 5, 1 can send mail and the other can't... have tried deleting and adding the account, no luck, have tried all suggestions... anyone help?

I have recently purchased the iphone 5S and have two AOL email accounts set up on it. They could both receive and send mail on the first day, but from the second day only 1 can send mail (both still receive). I get an message saying "Unable to send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed." This has been the response now for 3 days and suddenly this morning, I was able to send an email from this account, but only the one and now it's back to that same message. I have deleted and added the account again, using various methods. I even reset my phone and set it all up again from beginning with no luck. It is very frustrating and I am unsure why I can't send from both accounts, especially being that they are the same provider. I have read forums and it appears many have this same problem and I wondered if anyone has had it recently on this phone and how they fixed it. Someone said just use the AOL app to send from this account, yes that can be done, but it's inconvenient having to sign in all the time when i have a mail app that should work automatically. Any suggestions would be welcomed!!

I am not sure if this issue is going to help you but lets give it a try.
I know that where im from, which is the Netherlands, I am not able to sent e-mails from my iPhone or any other mobile device by using 3G or a random WIFI acces point. The provider only allowes you to sent e-mails when you are connected to a network of there own. Which means if you have provider "101" and your email settings are set up for this provider in your iPhone but your using the network of a friend of yours which is provider "202" you cannot sent emails from his network. Though you can receive them you may not sent.
As I said, I am not aware if this issue is the same for you totaly depents on the country and provider your using.

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer. Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro. I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty. Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
Can anyone help please?
thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime. Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.
