AT&T Lacking Basic Customer Service and Accountability

This details the worst customer service for a first time customer that I have ever experienced, attempting to use AT&T service.  To sum up the details explained below, my first experience with AT&T service consisted of a supervisor in the support department being unwilling and unable to solve and correct an error caused by AT&T. This lack of service and empathy for a first-time customer ruined the opinion and reputation in the eyes of this young-professional who had planned to give years of business and compensation to their company as I have just bought my first home. I ordered AT&T Uverse Max at Best Buy (using their experience to choose the best provider). I received an email with my PIN number and a confirmation with the internet installation date and time. I did not receive any other calls or emails. The day of installation arrives on Sunday July 26, 2015 (the earliest appointment time, a week after placing the order). No AT&T representative showed up for service within the 2 hour time frame. I made a call to AT&T UVERSE customer service to check up on the status of my installation only to find the customer service department is closed on Sundays. I also made a call to Best Buy to try to obtain any information regarding when the service reps would be out to install the internet, only to be informed that AT&T is solely responsible. Even the Best Buy manager attempted to contact AT&T with no luck. Only after contacting AT&T UVERSE technical support did I get to speak to a human person for 30 minutes. After being transferred to the supervisor, I was told that an error was made in the AT&T order through their system and an account was created without placing a service order. I had waited at my home for 4 hours (cancelling plans) expecting the internet to be installed. I told the supervisor I worked remotely and I needed installation that same day. He informed me that the soonest he could install is August 4, 2015. I proceeded to cancel my service as he was unwilling to help correct the mistake or do anything to remedy the situation.

  • Digusted with the lack of Customer Service and Complete disregard for Inconveniences

Its a shame I have to come here in order for my voice to be heard. I have spent many hours on the phone with technical support and customer service and it has been to no avail. As a longstanding verizon wireless customer I assumed the high level of customer service experienced there would be translated when I decided to pay MORE money and switch from DirectTV to Verizon FIOS. The last few days have proven me wrong as I still remain without internet, tv, or phone service due to a technical issue beyond my fault. I spent an hour on the phone yesterday only to find out a technician would need to be scheduled and sent to my home today. Working in sales, I have reports I must complete each day requiring use of a WIFI connection so this was already becoming an inconvenience on top of the fact I had to be available between 8-12 and miss a half day of work. Not only did the technician never show up but lied in the notes and stated he/she made an attempt to reach me by phone. My call log shows no incoming phone calls during anytime between 8-12 today. When I called tech support to check on the status of when they would be getting someone back out they informed me I would have to wait until tomorrow afternoon before someone could come out. I expressed my extreme displeasure with having to miss more time from work (which is additional money lost) and inconvienece as I would have to move my day around to find a place with free WIFI after work hours to complete my reports. Traffic in DC is not friendly and this has completely turned me off. Veriozn FIOS is unreliable and the level of service I have received to date has been sub par to put it politely. Offering me 2 pro-rated days back on my service doesn't even begin to compensate for the missed time out of work nor the gas and inconvience of running to the nearest free WIFI so I am able to do work required of me. I decided to switch to FIOS because of the verizon name assuming the quality of the product and level of service would be one I could depend on. This has been the farthest thing from what has taken place. I now have another appointment tomorrow and quite unsure if anything at all will happen. I need some somebody from corporate to receive this message as it took me forever to find this forum to express myself and try to come to some resolve to make things right in this situation. None of your customer service reps possessed any information on how to contact corporate and due to my experience I can see why. You all would likely have to hire full time stafff to accomodate the level of complaints coming in. Pending how this situation is resolved, I may or may not take my story to social media and as many review and blog sites as possible. Verizon FIOS has ruined my day and I hope that someone will care enough to make this situation right.

  • Complaints Lack of Customer Service and No respons...

    Hi there
I have had very similar experiences. Misold BT Business Line with Braodband speeds. Engineer called and connected to an old second line at the property which would only give me 2 MB.
    Complained - Nothing Happened
BT engineer said that my home line was " pants" as Chesterfield Broadband non existentr suggested I move my Braodband to Sky as they have better speeds and dont drop the connection!!!! I moved my home line to SJKY and guess what he was right!!!!!
Complained again about my Business Line - losing customers - no response
Complained via Twitter - no response only more promises of help.
BT  deceided to  increase my bill for no reason no letter no notoification April 2013 queried bills back to October 2012 - queriied this with Billing Accounts - they said sorry charges put on account in errror. Told Billing they were now in default of contract they cancelled the line said I would receive a refund of the incorrect charges.
Credit bill received  which I assumed was the final bill so cancelled my Direct Debit and then ongoing bills still arriving
Calls  amde to to BT Billing usually answered by Asia or Thailand had no idea of what i was saying most of the time  number of calls in excess of 20  All calls State that account was closed in April and that bills incorrect.
Called again  recently and spoke to Billing they promised to help but said that there were no notes of calls and contacts on system. E mail received from Karen Bernadino as I insisted that she acknowledge my call  -E mail promising to help. no futher mail or phone call despite further e mail chase up requests.
Today -  BT Chat   - waited  20 minutes today no luck -  called BT poptions team suggested I complain at www.bt.com/business complaints - doesnt exist.
At wits end now will write to Chairmain and Onbudsman - BT  have a non existent Customer Service that costs us millions?
Looks as though whatever you do the only way you can get a complaint sorted through BT is to go on this forum to shame them in full view of the general public.
Please can someone help I am not paying Bt any further money as they  jhave been in default of my contract since the Account was opened and further since October 2012 when they decided to increase the charges on  my account for no reason. No other organisation would get away with this invisibility and total lack of accountability.

I'm in the same boat have an outstanding complaint with BT , reported it 7 days ago.  Still nothing from BT.
Even if you do get a reply fromt he customer service team, you can ask agin and you will get something different they have no idea whats happening in the company.
It has to be said I now reckon BT are the worst company for customer service, they make Santander look brilliant.  Never have I encountered such poor customer service from a company that I have from BT.  Just look at the forums they are full of people complaining about the service they dont get.
Good luck in writing to the chairman, I did that too after a couple of days and got an automated reply back, still nothing official from BT.
    They are totally rubbish.

  • Lack of Customer Service and Faulty Phone Line

Over the last 2 and a half weeks we have suffered variously from lack of broadband/ TV services and land line usage.
During that period the help line has been distinctly unhelpful with either the provision of no information or being told that I would be updated on progress and then not updated. Also, engineers have turned up at our property unannounced even though I was informed that I would be told when they were to arrive.
Also, having eventually had a fault in the pavement outside the house fixed we have now been advised that our internal "socket box" is faulty. We have BT Infinity and the box was installed by BT Open Reach and is the only way we can have BT broadband and we are now advised that the faulty socket is our responsibility.
This information came during a conversation last night when I was advised that I was about to be put through to a call centre manager and then left on hold for 25 minutes and subsequently advised that her call had overrun, but no apology that I had not been advised of why I was on hold.
During that conversation I was advised I could be given £10.00 compensation for having to make 6 or 7 lengthy calls to try and rectify the position at our property even thought there had been extensive time on hold and every time I spoke to someone they gave a different version of events or advice.
I would like the to be advised of the best course of action to have the matter fixed and to make a formal complaint about how the whole saga has been dealt with over the last two and a half weeks.

You can register an official complaint with BT and if it is not resolved satisfactorily with them within 8 weeks then you can take it to the Communications Ombudsman who will progress things and I believe can compel BT to compensate/take certain courses of action.
I also have had a very frustrating time with BT. My phone has never been able to receive calls since switching in August - it goes through to someone elses phone who it appears somehow shares the same number with us.
I have done repeated tests on the phone with BT, initially being told that it wasn't a problem with BT. After a number of calls and online chats, the fault that I'd opened twice was closed as it had timed out.. So I raised a complaint which has still not been finalised and re-opened the fault (again!). Eventually we were available for an engineer to visit on Monday. They said the problem was with BT and would be fixed within 3 working days. Today was the 3rd working day and I received a text saying that the problem had been resolved (it hadn't been) so I re-opened the fault. I then received a further message saying that the problem had been fixed (it still hadn't) but this time there didn't appear to be an option to re-open the fault.
Please can someone advise on how I can re-open this as a fault and get it fixed.

  • Lack of Customer service unacceptable

I went to my local Verizon store 2 weeks ago to discuss how I could lower my monthly bill - the manager advised me that changing the name on my account to my husbands name would lower the bill substantially because of state credit - we changed that day - I just received my new bill and it is higher than the original - I went back to Verizon to discuss and was told I must have misunderstood - even though I have a paper with the managers figures on it - and because I changed the name on the account I no longer qualify for a loyal customer discount - incredible lack of customer service and rude - I will now take my business elsewhere as it seems Verizon does not care about loyalty to good customers. I will also tell anyone who will listen to Never sign up with this company - Shame on you Verizon!

I was told that I could qualify for the 4 lines for $140 that is being offered at this time (even though I only have 3 phones 2 of which are iPhones) and with the discount for changing account to my husbands name (because he works for the state of NJ) the total monthly bill would be $113. I purposely went there to lower my bill and when I left that is what I thought happened. The manager even wrote out the different plan options on paper that I took with me I can scan this and send to you if needed - when I came back with my husband the manager passed me to an associate to give her experience - she had to keep asking questions and eventually needed to call into main office to make changes. I would have never agreed to make my bill higher and am desperate to get this straightened out. I did not even realize this happened until I received my current invoice for $209 - when I went back to the Verizon yesterday I spoke to someone (unfortunately I did not get her name) she stated there was nothing that could be done and maybe I just didn't understand what I did. Then she proceeded to go to another person and loudly state "Oh she's just mad because she didn't know what she is doing". She also told me that by changing the name on the account I no longer qualified for a loyal customer discount. Any help would be much appreciated and I am really hoping that I can continue my relationship with Verizon.
    Thank you

  • Very frustrated with poor customer service and lack of integrity

Earlier today my wife and I bought a TV from your Huntsville, AL store (removed per forum guidelines). We were looking at your 32" TVs and had several questions about them. After flagging down a sales associate, we questioned the pricing of several TVs. They were advertised under the display as one price, then where the inventory was at, were labeled a different price. The sales person confirmed that the smaller price was the correct price and the displays were incorrectly labeled. We proceeded to pick out a 32" Vizio E320I-B1/E3 TV that was labeled $219.99 where it was stocked (There were two rows of this TV all labeled $219.99) and the display was labeled $259.99. Again, I flagged down the sales associate (Taylor) on the floor and questioned the display pricing vs the shelf pricing. He AGAIN confirmed that the shelf pricing was the correct pricing and the display pricing was for a different model. We proceeded to check out, purchased a 2 year protection plan along with an HDMI cord and were on our way, new TV in tow. On the way home we reviewed the receipt and noticed we had been charged incorrectly for the TV. It rang up as 259.99 even though it was clearly labeled 219.99 and we had verified TWICE with an associate that 219.99 was the correct price. We went back to the store, thinking we would be refunded the difference. After spending over 30 minutes with customer service explaining what happened, customer service informed us that they could not refund the difference even after we showed them where the TVs were at and priced as 219.99 AND verified with the sales associate that he had confirmed that price with us TWICE. We then returned the TV for a full refund, to which my money is still tied up in the transaction until sometime next week (all for a TV that was FRAUDULENTLY sold to me!!). Not only was it mislabeled, but your sales associate told me TWO times that the labeling was correct. I am disappointed with the lack of customer service that we received. It is beyond frustrating to me that your company is unable to honor a $40 error in pricing that your very own sales associate confirmed. I believe that the store was 100% at fault for this situation and am more than displeased with the original situation and the events that followed. I consider it a disgusting lack of integrity to fraudulently sell a customer an item and refuse to right the situation when able. There is no doubt in my mind that the store manager (Cedric) or division manager could have authorized the TV to be sold at the price listed (and confirmed by the sales associate twice!) but they simply chose not to.  Prior to today I had a positive view of Best Buy and considered it my store of choice for many items. My wife even did seasonal work for this store several years prior. Unfortunately, I will no longer choose to give my money to a cooperation that does not value integrity, honesty, and accountability. I understand that you are a large corporation and my few purchases probably won't even put a dent in your profit margin, but I would just like to remind you that I represent your entire customer base. If this is the type of customer service that your company prides itself on, then I am sure this is only one of many incidents. I find that extremely unfortunate. I will now be purchasing the same TV from another company for $259.99 (where it was actually labeled correctly, and the sales associate is able to accurately confirm the pricing). My future business will not be with you after today.

    Hello lauralou1105,
Purchasing a new TV should be fun, exciting, and straightforward, and not be complicated by unclear signage and conflicting information. I very much regret that this was your experience at the Huntsville store.
I completely understand your conclusion that -- after the attempts to verify pricing that you made -- you should have had no questions and no surprises about the cost of the TV after purchase. Did Cedric give you any explanation as to why the TV you bought rang up at a different price or for his not honoring the display pricing?
It is wholly disheartening to hear that this experience may influence how you shop in the future. It is my hope that you will one day give Best Buy another chance to win you over.
Please know that I'm grateful that you shared your experience with us.
    Sincerely,

  • Extremely Frustrated with Purchase and Lack of Customer Service

I purchased an LG TV on 10/10 for $679.99 10/10, a week later I saw that Dell had the same television for $479. I called to Best Buy customer service and tried to price match. The man that I spoke with said no problem and that he would forward this request to the appropriate department and that I would see the difference refunded in 7-10 business days. Well 3 weeks went by and I had not received any type of refund. I then had to switch banks due to other unforseen circumstances. I have been trying to get the refund to either my new account or in the form of a gift card. I went to the physical store I purchased the TV at and after about an hour they told me that I just had to call 1800BESTBUY. Well I have been on the phone with them 4 separate times all being told different things. The first lady was actually very helpful, was on the phone for about 45 minutes and then the call dropped after we were finally getting somewhere and I never received a call back. So I called you guys back and after a ridiculous hold time someone just told me that I would have to wait 72 hours for some sort of resolution and I have no idea what the hell is going on now. I am currently talking with someone right now and she just keeps putting me back on hold trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I am just fed up listening to the holiday hold music and need something done about this immediately. Whether it be a refund to my new bank account or a refund in the form of a gift card, I do not care because it will just be spent on Christmas gifts from Best Buy either way. I am just so sick of wasting my time being on hold on 4 separate phone calls, each long with no resolution whatsoever. If it could expedite anything the case number I have received is {removed per forum guidelines}.

    Hi rmpagejr3,
I'm so sorry you've had to spend so much time and effort on your price match request; it is certainly not intended to be such a chore for our customers. I was glad to see that Heidi from our Facebook team reached out to you last week. Please let her know if you require any further assistance.

  • No Customer Service and lack of product display

Today I made the trip to our local best buy in Lexington Park(California), Maryland where we have bought all of our tv's and electronics.  We have decided to get a new 70 in led tv for our living room.  My wife and I were very disappointed in the displays at the store. They didn't have any tv's on display that were bigger then 60 in.  We waited over 20 mins for a sales person to come over and ask us if we needed any help which never happened.  It was around 10:30am on a Monday morning so the store definitely wasn't busy, it is a small store and we noticed there was only one other couple in there at the time(which also no one walked over to them to ask if they needed help).  I saw 4 workers just standing around on the floor talking, there were 2 at the door as "greeters" who weren't doing anything.  So after their poor customer service and lack of displays I will never buy a tv from Best Buy again.  Also it doesn't say much when we went to WalMart and found multiple 70 in tv's on display & in stock which were cheaper than Best Buy online and in store, which is saying a lot because our local WalMart NEVER stocks anything.  I thought Best Buy was an electronics store?

    Hello Drumm42,
Thank your for taking the time to write to us! It is ever our goal to ensure that you get the help you need when you visit one of our stores. I regret that our representatives at the Lexington Park store didn't take that aspiration to heart when you visited recently. I know that I would be -- and have been on some occasions -- frustrated by such neglect.
Considering that you weren't able to find a selection of TVs in the size you were hoping to purchase -- and the lack of attention from the store's staff -- it sounds like your overall experience was far less than ideal. I realize that you weren't approached while in the Home Theater department, but did you speak to a representative or manager about your experience?

  • Apple Customer Service and warranty exceptions

    Hello all,
Whilst I love my Apple hardware and software, and have had many good experiences with them over the years, unfortunately I post today with a complaint about what I perceive to be poor customer service and product quality.
In late March/early April of 2006, I purchased a 1.83GHz MacBook Pro with great anticipation- Intel inside, Tiger OS, inbuilt webcam, and general awesomeness all round. I also purchased the 3 year AppleCare warranty, which was to be a godsend as during the following three years I would experience:
*The replacement of the battery under the original MacBook Pro battery exchange program
*The left fan on the unit dying in 2007
*The logic board itself dying in late Feb/Early March 2008, thus bricking my laptop
*Another battery replacement as the replacement for the original died before it (realistically) should have (Apple very nicely made an exception to the battery's 1 year technical warranty and replaced it for me).
Fair enough, it's a new unit and was bound to have some problems. Unfortunately, last week the logic board died AGAIN; a mere 18 months after it was replaced in 2008. The unit is out of AppleCare warranty by 5 months or so, but I was urged by forumites and friends to call Apple, who would surely make an exception for me and pay for the replacement part, given my service history with the laptop and Apple's reputation for excellent customer service.
Unfortunately, this has proved to not be the case. Calling customer service at Apple Australia I talked to Steven, who was firm to the point of rudeness when he stated that my laptop was out of warranty and Apple would cover nothing but the labour charges involved, as a "guesture of good will". When stretched, he offered me a $125 voucher if I wanted to purchase anything over $400 in the Apple store, and stressed he didn't have to do this but the company was attempting to provide good service to its customer.
Despite my argument that I forked out over $3000 for this laptop a mere three years ago and am now looking at over $1000 to repair something replaced only 18 months ago, his line was that Apple provided a warranty and that was simply that (apart from a month or two grace). Five months is apparently "far outside the warranty period".
I received no challenge to my assertion that after buying something which cost over $3000, it was reasonable for Apple to expect a consumer to pay an extra $1000 every year after the warranty finishes to replace a broken logic board. In truth, I find this near incomprehensible, considering one can buy the supposedly inferior build quality of a Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc and see it last not just beyond the warranty but another two or three years before it finally suffers something terminal.
While from a warranty perspective Apple are well and truly within their rights to refuse to pay for the part, at the end of the day I am left to pay $1000+ for a repair for something which may only last another 12 months, plus $3500+ for a new Macbook Pro with AppleCare if I want a replacement- minus of course the $125 they are offering.
I did some reading of the ACCC's website about my statutory rights and the Trade Practices act, and I note the following with interest:
    *Statutory conditions (goods)*
The Trade Practices Act implies the following statutory conditions into consumer contracts:
    * The goods must be of merchantable quality. That is, they must meet a basic level of quality and performance, taking into account their price and description. They also should be free from defects that were not obvious to you at the time of purchase.
    * The goods must be fit for their purpose. That is, they should do what they are supposed to do and be suitable for any purpose that you might have made known to the supplier.
    * The goods must match the description you were given or the sample you chose from. For example, any carpet laid must be the same quality and colour as the sample you chose from.
    * You must receive clear title to the goods, including goods bought at auction. In other words, you can expect to own the goods outright and any restriction on ownership should be explained to you beforehand.
While I don't particularly want to make a big deal of things, I hardly see $3000+ for three years use and $1000 each year thereafter to be merchantible quality or fit-for-purpose! This is supposed to be a high end laptop with excellent build quality, and yet I've a secondhand iBook that has been chugging for longer without issue than this machine!
I told Steven from Customer Service that his offer didn't satisfy me in the slightest, and still put me in an awkward position with regards to repair and repurchase. He simply wouldn't budge, and refused to see things from my point of view (which another operator, Anu, was able to do and thus produce a much better response from myself). I have since asked to speak to his manager which- after initial resistance- I have been able to secure a future callback from. I have no idea how well discussions with he/she will go.
What I'd like to hear from you guys and girls is your experience with similar situations, and whether you think I've a leg to stand on with regards my replacement request or the ACCC stuff above. Again, I love my Apple products but I hardly think asking them to replace the part while I pay for labour is a big ask, given the service history and my desire to continue buying and using their products.
Love to hear your points of view on this one; thanks for taking the time to read it!
    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Dear meacod
I have live the same, except that I Cure my MBP before it goes to die.
A lot of older participants here just talk about Aplle care, which seem the automatic thing in front of a lack of real good quality on Apple products .
But I think we pay the price, and my second hand MBP was much more expensive than a brand new PC with more ram, more Hard disk, and even a blue ray...
I don't know your mbp history, but that's sure that we are not equal, in world, with Apple customer support. France is not so great, I don't know for your country.
The only thing I think is that Apple should take care of us, as we have some unacceptable issues, for An Apple Product...
Since 1996, when Apple was almost dead, saved by Bill Gates investment !!! , I have every year promote it, and it was not easy, but I have bring to Apple between 3 to 10 customers each year..
since One year, I have stop that, because I don't believe anymore in Apple product's superiority .
Oh, yes, on the paper, it's better, the system is really good. But the overall experiment can be so bad that I don't want to loose friends, or customers...
I don't say it's always bad : I just say that it CAN BE SO BAD and that Apple DON'T take care of that...
so, for your computer, open it, check it a lot, may be it's too late, but for instance, you talked about a fan, I have solved that case just by putting oil on the fan's axe...
    good luck

  • Total Lack of Customer Service - Ongoing Issues for 8 Weeks

Hi, I'm currently dealing with Comcast's legendarily awful customer support. I've tried a multitude of avenues, with the exception of this one, so in the hopes that maybe someone can help me here, this is what I've experienced in the past 8 weeks: June 1: Move into new townhouse. June 6: Attempt to setup Comcast internet and TV services through a 3rd party subscription company. $40/mo for Blast (50MB ) internet with a $75 VISA gift card, TV already provided through my HOA fees. Credit hard inquiry pulled for this subscription. Never got the $75 gift card. June 7: Attempt install of my own router/cable modem. Modem does not work. Spend several hours on the phone with various tech support and customer support employees. End result: no internet. June 8: Spend several hours on the phone with various tech support and customer support employees. End result: no internet. June 9: Spend several hours on the phone with various tech support and customer support employees. End result: 3rd party didn't actually create an account. Hard credit inquiry pulled (second one), $25/mo for 25MB internet and TV again included in HOA. Internet works, TV does not. June 10-16: Girlfriend (who is authorized on the account) attempts to pick-up cable boxes. Told that she cannot because she is not the account primary. After multiple phone calls to customer support, she finally is allowed to pick up the boxes. June 16-19: Attempt to install cable boxes, again with multiple customer service calls. Issue is traced to an incorrect rate code entered. Rate code correct, still doesn't fix cable boxes. End result: No TV June 20 to July 2: After multiple attempts to get cable boxes to communicate and failing, a tech visit was created. Tech visits house. My girlfriend was present for the appointment - I am an electrical engineer and did my best to explain to her what the issue is - there is a terminator at the external cable box preventing any signal from entering the house. She attempts to explain this to the tech, who dismisses her and says the issue is the satellite dish on the roof, which isn't even connected! July 18th: After trying to remove the terminator myself and failing, I call customer support and set up yet another tech visit. I am given a visit date of August 3rd (16 days later - completely insane), but promised that the agent will escalate the appointment and have someone call me back within "2 to 3 hours". I am still waiting on that particular callback. July 22nd: Spend multiple hours in online chat with 3 separate agents. My thought process was that by having everything in writing, maybe someone would actually do what they promised. I was promised bill credits for the unusable cable boxes and a callback within 24 hours to reschedule my appointment to an earlier date. Never got the correct amount credited, and I am again still waiting on that callback. July 27: Finally get aggravated enough to email the Executive Customer Care line. I am promised that I will hear from an agent within 24 hours.  July 28: Get an email from the agent in broken English, addressing me as "Mrs." XXXXX (I am definitely not a "Mrs.") and claiming that he tried to call me earlier in the day (I had no missed calls or voicemails, and I was not on my phone at all that morning). I email him back immediately and he promises to follow up with me. I hear nothing for 4 hours, so I email the executive customer service team again. Instead of directly helping me, the inform me that they'll update my ticket and let my agent know. An hour later, I finally get a call from the agent informing me that although it is the end of his work day (which somehow ends at 3:45pm), he will try to get my appointment moved and he will definitely credit my account. He tells me that if I don't hear from someone from the local dispatch team that day, I would definitely hear from him first thing the next morning (the 29th). Shockingly, I don't hear anything from the local dispatch team that evening. July 29th: Don't receive a callback from either the local dispatch team or the agent helping me. I sent several emails to the main executive customer service line and am only told that my ticket would be updated and my agent informed. That does me absolutely no good, since my agent isn't helping me! My account still hasn't been credited, I have the same appointment date, and I still have 2 hard credit pulls on my credit score! My problem isn't overly complex or difficult to deal with. I don't want to be a thorn in Comcast's side, but I am being pushed in that direction because no one is assisting me, just passing the buck from rep to rep until I fall through the cracks. I am going to have to file complaints with the FCC, FTC, and BBB because of the appalling lack of customer service. I bill over $70/hr for my time at work, and I have wasted at least 50 hours during working hours dealing with this. I don't think it's unreasonable to want my issues resolved promptly when I've basically flushed $3500+ down the drain dealing with pure incompetence. If there is anyone who can actually help (and I don't mean telling me that someone will call back in the next 48 hours - because I've already fallen for that ruse a dozens times or so), please get in touch with me.

    Hi wth1,
Sorry to hear about all the problems you had getting this resolved. I do see you were able to speak with someone yesterday who was able to assist you and come to a resolution. Please reach back out to us if you have any other issues.
    Thank You

  • Moving Home / Lack of Customer Service / Cancellat...

I write to express my complete astonishment and disgust with the level of service BT has offered to me as a valued long standing customer.
I have been a customer of BT for approximately 4 years, taking out a phone line, unlimited broadband, BT vision and Sky Sports, amounting to a considerable charge of around £42.00 per month. I have used these products constantly during this period and have been very happy with the service.
In mid February 2012 I phoned to inform BT that I was moving home shortly and would like to switch all service to a new address. I was told that I needed to call back when my current line had been taken over by the new tenant, at which time I could then move my services.
On Thursday 1st March I rang BT to inform them that my line had been taken over by the new tenant and that I now wished to move my contract over. I was informed that I needed to take out a new contract which would then waive any connection charges. I was more than happy with this and asked to set up the new account. The lady at BT who I was speaking to informed me that after running a line check there was an issue with the new property in respect of the supply to it. I informed her that the previous tenant in the new property had a BT phone line with all BT sockets but had obviously cancelled it on moving out. She informed me she would run some more tests and ring me back the following day on the Friday 2nd March. BT did not contact me at any time on the Friday.
On Saturday 3rd March I rang BT back very disgruntled with the lack of service offered. I spoke to a gentleman who checked my account and system notes and stated he didn't know why I hadn't been contacted back. He informed me that I could take out a new account and waive the connection fees. He run a check on the line but informed me that it was coming back as a black line, and that he would need to book an engineer to come out to the property to check the connection. He was very helpful in his nature and suggested that I plugged a phone into the BT sockets and dialled 17070 to check for a line and number. He stated that as it was the weekend he couldn't book an engineer till Monday but he would personally phone me back by 12pm on Monday 5th March to check with me regards any current phone line and if necessary book the engineer.
At 1.00pm on Monday 5th March I had not received any phone call from BT. I can't say that I was surprised given BT's lack of customer service over the previous few days. I proceeded to phone BT again at my expense on my mobile phone to be greeted by a very helpful gentleman who again took me through the same details as previously had been stated. I informed him of my disappointment of BT's customer service, to which he apologised and tried to set up a new account for me. On attempting to set up all my services I was told that it kept failing on the BT system when it reached the broadband page. He suggested that I set up the phone line to instigate the new account and once live I could then upgrade my account to include broadband, BT vision and Sky Sports.
Although not happy with this I accepted the proposal to which he then attempted to book an engineer. He promptly informed me that the next engineer available would be on Monday 26th March 2012, a full 3 weeks delay!! He then informed me the broadband could then be initiated but with an additional lead time of a further 5-7 days. Thus bringing the whole episode up to a total of 4 weeks, not including the time already wasted by BT in the previous week.
I proceeded to inform the gentleman that this was an unacceptable amount of time coupled with the inconvenience and lack of service, and that I would now cancel my contract with BT.
After coming off the phone to BT, I proceeded to go onto the internet where within 10mins I had set up an account with Plusnet for broadband. I received a text message 2 hours later from Plusnet to inform me that my phone line was now live and gave details of my new phone number together with delivery details of my new home hub and an expected broadband start date within 3-5 days. Now that's quality service.
I have since received a final bill from BT stating cancellation charges of £61.13 to be paid by 22nd March 2012 and also a returns envelope to post back all the equipment.
Please can BT inform me whether this is an acceptable standard of service that a long standing customer expects?
Please can you inform me why BT have difficulty in moving my account to a new address when a new provider can initiate within hours?
How can BT charge me a cancellation fee when I have attempted to continue my service but BT could not offer the service within a reasonable time frame?
    Under the Supply of Goods & Service Act 1982, please inform me if BT believe they have met the requirements of the legislation;
    - That BT have carried out the service with reasonable care and skill
    - That BT have carried out the work in reasonable time
    - That BT ensure the work will be carried out at a reasonable cost
I am totally disgusted with BT and the level of service offered, the inconvenience caused, the wasted costs and time I have incurred trying to move my service and the overall unprofessional nature of your business.
I have sent a personal letter to Ian Livingston - CEO of BT  -  can't wait for the comical reply to that!!
Update 13th March 2012: Just received an obnoxious call from BT Customer Services stating the cancellation charges of £61.13 will stand as per an auto renewal contract which expires in August, even though BT cannot offer the service I require in a reasonable amount of time! Is it acceptable to wait 4 weeks for Broadband when I am an existing customer?? I think legislation, OFCOM & Ombudsman are firmly on my side! Great service BT!!

  • Lack of customer service/Liars

I went into a verizon store wanting to add a new line. Everything seemed to go smoothly. He asked if I wanted the 5S or 5C. I decided to go with the 5C. I paid my $145 and he helped me pick out a number. He said to come back at the end of the week to swap numbers on the phone. I went in on that Friday and the girl told me that I had to buy 2 sim cards. I wasn't advised of this. Had to pay $20. I left.
Later in the week I start getting text messages saying I am over my data usage. All of the phones start doing it. I up it for $10 not understanding really what was up. They kept coming. Over and over. I call customer service, go over my phones. Ends up the guy changed my calling plan without me knowing. I had unlimited data but gone and he backdated it. They can only switch you back within 14 days. By backdating he screwed that up. The lady apologizes and promises she will follow up the next day  I go to Verizon because I am fed up. I explained how he screwed everything up. They put me on phone with customer service who again apologizes profusely and said she has filed claims and someone will contact me within 24 hours.I am so frustrated I tell her to take the phone back it isn't worth it. Sure if I pay $75. What? I was never told that. He told me I had 14 days to change my mind. He didn't mention that. He also didn't mention that they were adding $40 on my bill. I thought it was $10. He never mentioned that I didn't have to get that phone. He didn't mention the differences.. He didn't mention anything. I have NOT heard from anyone and I am still getting usage notices. They have done nothing. I called back and left a message to have the girl I originally talked to call me back. No one has called. I am completely disgusted and one step away from posting this everywhere.

The reason you received the worst customer service - is because Verizon seems to have spent decades to develop the worst customer service program imaginable, and has searched the world over to hire the most incredibly incompetent people to staff their management, employees, phones lines, and stores to overshadow anyone who actually was mistakenly hired who is professional. I also happen to need help if you could assist, I need to go back to the store where I bought my 5s to find the store manager who can not seem to call me back after hours spent trying to get a hold of him, and help me stuff this phone up where the sun doesn't shine...
When I got home with my new 5s, I found their was no quick start guide, no recipe, no explanation of plan and absolutely no resolution after many calls I made - to try to clear up my charges. I was charged almost $750.00 on my first bill, and it was due immediately. I had set-up a pro-rated account, and was told my costs were supposed to be around $450.00 for everything, and my bill would be around $91.00 - they are charging me around $750.00 and around $140 a month - $50.00 higher... I called customer service, and the store several times since then. I was told many times to go online to resolve my problems. (ha! - a good one).... This is because you can not get a phone call answered due to the astounding amount of customer complaints and problems Verizon has managed to incur.
I happen to have an attorney on hand, and told him I am going back to the Verizon store and cancelling my account due to breach of contract. He said to let him know if they refuse... He was also a Verizon customer and cancelled his account... ironic... He informed me I was promised quality customer care, and I did not receive all of my product on purchase - namely a quick-start guide... Funny a 50 cent book will cause Verizon to lose thousands...
Verizon simply put, has a non-existent customer support network - the worst I have seen... You have to navigate through pages of online crap to get a simple number... If Verizon stood behind its service, it would have the customer service number listed and prominently displayed as well as provide product guides - instead of telling customers to find help online from others...
I am really surprised Verizon is a big sham and hides its shady organization behind smoke and mirrors disguised as too much worthless information posted - just look at all the crap below this page... Especially note the 8 links for Service and Support does not include any actual customer service assistance regarding account problems. I was told to go back to my
Verizon store to discuss my problems - it is 1.5 hours away....

  • Appalled by the lack of customer service - NEW PHONE is DEFECTIVE

I was leaving for California at the end of July and needed a battery for my Galaxy Note 2. There were none to be found. Verizon agreed to allow me early upgrade to the Galaxy Note 3. After daily phone conversations with customer service, I finally got my phone 4 days after it was to be shipped next day air. I had to pay $75 California tax and a $15 next day fee. I live in Massachusetts and although we are known as "Taxachusetts" - it would not have been that much if sent to my home. Needless to say, I get the phone and it is unable to hold a charge (not being used) for more than 8 hours. I called customer service at least 10 times for a matter of at least 8 hours and have no resolution. I cannot get a new phone because I am beyond the 2 week deadline - "Really?" at that point I had the phone for 3 1/2 weeks. I have a phone bill sitting on my table for $418.00 (to include equipment) - I will not pay for this phone until they send me a new one. I do not think that is unreasonable, yet, each of the 10 customer service and supervisors I spoke with told me that is not possible - no one could do that for me...Look, all I want is a phone that works and VERIZON WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS SITUATION!!! I have been a customer for a long time and am absolutely appalled by the lack of customer service!!! I am asking those on here for help.  What carrier should I move to?  Evidently Verizon does not need my service - and I am happy to share with my "Friends and Family" what a deceptive company this is.  So what do you all suggest?

It's as my original messages states.  After taking the iPhone5 to a verizon store and being told is was a known defect with the screen, we sent the phone back and received a refurbished phone.  After weeks, we were sent an email with a picture imbedded that would not display.  It stated the phone had internal damage.  We certainly would not have returned the phone had we not been instructed to do so by Verizon or if it was damaged.  We requested to send the refurbished IPhone back - we would have rather paid for a brand new phone than $300 for a refurbished one.  We were told we could not.   Beyond this - the support was unreal.  The first person we spoke stated there was zero record of our original call to support to return the phone although our detailed calling bill showed a 35 min call.  Three calls later and no one was able to show us the damange, prove it was our phone, etc.  I'm not convinced this isnt some sham to get more money to be honest.  We've been with you for 10 years.  I do not want to pay for a refurbished phone especially when a verizon tech instructed us to send the original back due to a defect.

  • Customer service and computer have gone from bad to totally unbelievable

I have a friend who was not computer savvy and asked for my help in purchasing a computer before going on vacation. I have been a best buy customer for a very long time,I would say my house was a best buy house. After the experience that she has endured and continues to deal with,I'm sorry that I took her to best buy.I private messaged Karina on the 12th so as not to make a fuss if I could get help privately but did not receive a response. The saga of customer service and her non-functioning computer from two stores in town has gone from bad to totally unbelievable.I used to work customer service and if I had treated my customers in the manner she has received I would have been looking for a job.She was accused of stealing money or the computer she paid for, she has been lied to, delayed from her vacation, had her extended warranty cancelled, numerous other things and is still dealing with a computer that is not functioning properly. I'm trying to help her and this has become harder and harder to do.I would appreciate some help as we have asked to speak to a district manager and that seems to be an impossibility.

    Hi deafdragon,
It sounds like your friend is going through a complete and utter nightmare of a situation, so it’s very nice of you to be reaching out to us on her behalf. Trying to receive service on a broken computer should never be this difficult, and it’s especially concerning to hear of the serious allegations we’ve reportedly made against her while requesting assistance. As I’d hate for this to cause you both further aggravation, I’d really appreciate the opportunity to see how I may help.
Due to our Privacy Policy though, I’m unable to discuss the details of your friend’s case with you.  Please have your friend create a forum account using her email address we may have on file with her Best Buy account. From there, please tell her to send me a private message with her full name, contact information, and any information she wishes me to know so that I may see what options we may have available for her.

  • Terrible customer service, and no help with defective camera

    Madams and Sirs,
This camera (see below) was a Christmas present, and we discovered first last week that it had a manufacturing defect. (one of the small tabs holding the case half together got installed in a pinched way.)
Best Buy has always had fantastic customer service, and we have been very happy. We have spend many thousand dollars in your store every year. So we were sure the store would have a solution.
We took it in to your store #1423 on Curtner in San Jose to try to exchange or replace under warranty.
I understand you sometimes you are not able to help a customer, but this email is first about the shock I got when I spoke with Megan in customer service.
As many customers in Silicon Valley, I am an engineering manager, and we have performed destructive testing on many of our own products. The defect on this camera is obviously a manufacturing defect, and not possible to be caused by poor handling. This is very obvious.
Megan told me with other employees as well as my son listening next to me that I was a liar, and that the damage was caused by abuse, and not a defect. I tried to explain that was not possible, and she interrupted me, and again said that i was not telling the truth, and that the assembly error was caused by us.
I then asked if it was possible to have the matter reviewed by the store manager, and she responded she was the store manager.
I left with the camera, and the matter unresolved, and had to explain to my son that I was not a liar, and that Megan must be wrong and "some people just have a bad day sometimes".
I will not be spoken to with insults like that, and I can no longer go to your store with my kids, and if my employees treated any customer the way Megan did, I would make sure she received training to correct this. If the store manager have this attitude to customers, the entire organisation usually follows, and I will not be a customer in a store like that.
    1. Please help resolve this issue.Order number: {removed per forum guidelines}

    Hello erikev,
Cameras are nice to have, especially with young children, so I can imagine how frustrating it can be to find yourself with a pinched casing. When something goes wrong, it’s never a fun situation, and while it may not be something we can necessarily help with, great customer service should still be provided. It sounds like this didn’t happen the way we hoped, and I’m sorry this was at your expense.
As this situation is definitely concerning, I looked into your account to see how I might be able to assist. However, I have found your concerns have reached Terrance with our executive support team. He is currently looking into your situation and should contact you once more information is available. From here, Terrance will be your first point of contact.
Hopefully he can find a good resolution for you,
