AT&T micro sim

Hi,
I have a wifi + 3G iPad, I am visiting the USA from the UK and was wondering if I could purchase a AT&T 3G micro sim from an AT&T store or apple store so I can take advantage of the 3G network.
Cheers

Yes but you need a USA address and USA credit card. You can use the address of where you are staying and buy prepaid credit card such as a Visa purchased from Walmart to fulfill these requirements.

Where did you get the phone? If it was hacked or jailbroken prior to the update, this is pretty typical. If that's the case, it's now a brick.

  • How can i make my micro sim (which i am using currently on some phone) on the new iphone 6?

I am using an android phone which have a micro sim. And tomorrow i am  going to buy the unlocked iphone 6, which needs nano sim. So how will my micro sim work with iphone 6? Or apple will take care of that for me?
    Thank you.

One option is to ask you cellular carrier to copy the data from the old sim to a new one if the place where you buy the phone can not.

  • How do I get an iPad micro sim card for Austria and Italy?  We purchased one for Germany, but it doesn't cover in Austria or Italy

How do I get an iPad micro sim card for Austria and Italy?  We purchased one for Germany, but it doesn't cover in Austria or Italy

Compare the roaming charges from the German carrier with services like those:
    http://www.abroadband.com

Otherwise buy a pre-paid micro-SIM card for the iPad in each country you visit.

  • HT1365 why does having a telstra micro-sim  stop me from being able to access my home wi-fi which is optus?

when I first bought my ipad 3 cellular + wi-fi, I did not get a micro-sim card. I only used my home wifi that is from an Optus broadband network.
It worked perfectly without any issues, good strong signal and fast internet.
    no worries
Then 3 days ago I bought a micro-sim, from Telstra and inserted it and activated it.
It worked perfectly too, from home and everywhere. But I have plenty of download on my home network, so I want to switch away from my pre-paid Telsra month-by-month simcard  to getting my internet via the Optus wi-fi.
    But it no longer works.
I can no longer get a signal from my home wi-fi network.
The wi-fi is still working for other devices in the house.
I have tried resetting the netowrks to get it to find and recognise the wi-fi again.
It does find it, it does recognise it and allows me to join, but the top corner of the ipad screeen says "No Service", and then shows 3 bars of the wi-fi netowrk signal. !!
Do I need to remove the Tesltra micro-sim to get the ipad to recognise the home netowrk?
    That doesnt seem right.
    What am I missing?

Connect to a router via web browser from another device, open "settings" -> "wireless"( sequence and title of menu depending on model and manufacturer of your router) and try to change wireless mode to 802.11N or if this mode not accessable, to 802.11g mode only. Save this settings( router will reboot) and connect Ipad2.

  • How can i see my mesages in my micro sim for my i pad 3

im inserted already the micro sim and the signal is ok
but where can i see any mesages for my simcard?

To the best of my knowledge, the only thing that an iPhone can read off a SIM is contacts. Those can be imported into the iPhone contacts app. The iPhone doesn't store texts or contacts to the SIM.

  • US iPad 3G and using more than one micro-sim

    Hello
I'm planning on ordering a 3G iPad from the US. I travel very regularly and plan on having micro-sim cards for the countries I visit all the time i.e France, UK, Germany and others. Obviously it would be a lot cheaper to have separate sim cards for each country as opposed to roaming on a single subscription.
My question is whether any micro-sim will work in the US iPad 3G straight out of the box. I'll have absolutely no need for the AT&T sim.
    Thanks

This post is a little dated, but, as long as I'm here: I just got back from Canada, where I was able to do exactly this: I went into a Bell store in Vancouver and got a microSIM for my 3G iPad 2 ($5).  We took my AT&T SIM out and put the Bell SIM in, and it worked exactly the way it should have: I went to "Cellular Data" in Settings and it let me sign up for a variety of month-to-month plans; I went for 5 GB of service for $35.  The only thing I had to work around was that the sign-up form wouldn't accept "CA" as a Canadian province; I substituted "BC", and it was happy.  The service worked great, and was much cheaper than AT&T's international data roaming plan.
I presume I could go back to Canada and re-use the SIM to purchase a new plan, but I'm not sure how long that would work -- do SIMs (and their phone numbers) used in this way time out after awhile?
To perhaps extend the discussion a bit: I'm going to be in France and the UK in July, and would like to do the same sort of thing, ideally getting one microSIM and service plan that would work in both countries.  Orange provides service in France and the UK, but I'm not sure if a service plan bought in France would continue to work in the UK.  Any advice?

  • I have a uk ipad2 with 3G and am going to the USA I want to get a micro sim from AT

I have a UK ipad2 with 3G and am going to the USA.  I want to get a micro sim from AT&T so that I can use 3G in the USA. My question is that I know that I will need to sign up for an AT&T account on my Ipad.
Do AT&T accept foreign credit cards so that I can do this?  I only have a european Visa/Amex credit card.
If they don't, is there any way that I can purchase a dongle in the USA and use a USB adaptor on my ipad2?
I appreciate any feedback - i have spoken to loads of people from Apple and AT&t but noone seems to know the answer.
    thanks

You need a US credit card with a US address.

  • I have an SIII and will be traveling out of the country.  Do I need to get a micro SIM card ? (I was told that Verizon has them for free but it needs to be set up and there was a charge for this.

I have a Samsung SIII and will be traveling out of the country. Do I need to get a micro SIM card instaslled for international ?  I was told Verizon has them free for customers but that it needs to be "sert up". Also, are there alternatives to going through the verizon data plan (which is very expensive.
    Thanks

Your phone already has a micro SIM card in the device so it can connect to the VZW network. You will need an international plan from VZW if you intend to use that SIM card. Otherwise you can get a new SIM card from the local carrier and setup the phone for global use with a separate APN with that carrier's specific information.

  • Problem with IPhone4, maybe you have the same!! (related to Micro SIM Slot)

    Hi,
I have bought Iphone 4 from "Carphonewarehouse" and when I got back home and after I put the micro sim card I shook the Iphone (it is my habit to check if a device properly assembled)
then I heared sound as if something lose inside, when I tried to figure out I found that the small part, which used to push the Sim out of the slot, is moving so it creates that sound
So please is that with everyone or just my mobile? let me now so that I can ask for replacement.
    Regards,

Many thanks for your kind reply. Of course, that's common sense but if some have and others haven't,it means something has to be checked, otherwise if that resulted in other problem I would have no right to complain since that might be considered abuse.
So please I still need real cases whether this problem exists in all Iphones 4 or not.
    Regards,

  • I want an iPhone 3gs as I currently have a nokia lumia 620 but can I use my micro sim in the 3gs

Hi i want an iPhone 3gs but can i use my micro sim or do i need a sim adapter? answer soon

The iPhone 3GS takes a standard full-size SIM. It's possible that an adapter will work, but it will probably be more reliable if you get a full-size SIM from yur cell carrier.
EDIT: I concur with Tim. The 3GS is a very old model now, as smartphones go, so I would suggest a newer model, saving up if you have to. I myself wouldn't buy anything older than an iPhone 4S at this point.
    Regards.

What roaming charges? If you have a local plan there are no roaming charges. This is a major reason for using a local plan.
Contact, or visit the website,  whatever local provider you are considering and get their plan details.

  • Orange uk have no more micro sims

Just got of the phone with uk sales after a no show of my micro sim that was pre ordered on the 11th of may and was told they have ran out, the sales person said they ran out thursday morning and not to expect the sim until late next week if you have not already received them today. So much for saying they would be with us on release day.

Don't worry about the Orange apps. The only one that is useful on the iPad is the wi-fi finder.
None of them are for iPad (you have to use the iPhone version), Orange Wednesday doesn't work because it needs to send you a text message, and Your Orange doesn't track your allowance on the iPad, only on your calls, texts, etc. on your iPhone.

  • Orange uk will not provide a micro sim replacement

As the title says, if you are still in contract and not eligible for an upgrade yet but were thinking of getting the iPhone 4 on pay as you go and swapping out your normal size contract sim for a micro one orange will not allow it, they said if you buy it on pay as you go that's what it must be used for and under no circumstances will they give you any sim replacement apart from for the same sim as you have at the moment. If you are on o2 your in luck as they will be letting you swap the sim if required.

hmm someone else on another forum said this
"Just got off the phone with Orange to see if they could send me a Micro Sim to use when I purchase the iPhone 4 and the short answer was yes.
HOWEVER she did say that for customers such as myself who are currently on a monthly contract with them using a normal sim card who want to get their account details moved over to a micro sim will have to change their tarriffs slightly. She said that the terms and conditions they have been given state that customers must move to an iPhone4 tarriff which is an extra £10 per month but does come with unlimited internet (thats actually 750mb as we all know) and free BT Openzone WiFi, in order to get your existing number account details moved to the new Micro sim.
I was on a 1200 min £35 contract which with the new iPhone4 tarriff will take it up to £45, but have decided to offset some of the cost by lowering my tarriff to a £30 900 min per month, therefore totaling a £40 which the iPhone add-on.
It is a bit annoying that they aren't simply doing what O2 are by offering an online service that you just enter the new sims SSN code into and it copies the details over for you for free, but I didnt fancy cutting the card, screwing it up and not having any use of a phone till a replacement normal sim arrives, as Orange say they wont replace lost big size sims with Micro sims."
When you say "Update: just spoke to orange again and they said this is now possible to swap your current iPhone contract sim for a microsim, so have just preordered" did you mean "Update: just spoke to orange again and they said this is now possible to swap your current FULLSIZE contract sim for a microsim, so have just preordered" ?
I dropped Orange an email about this earlier on in the week so will post what they say.

  • Ipad Micro Sim vs Iphone 4 Micro Sim

Just noticed this on the UK apple store. They sell Sim Unlocked Phones (like NZ and Australia etc) and under the FAQs they have the following:
Are iPhone 4 and iPad micro-SIM cards interchangeable?
No. Your iPad micro-SIM card will not work with your iPhone.
Surely that is a “we dont want you to interchange” as opposed to “it wont work” as I thought a micro sim card is a micro sim card and it will work in any device that needs one. Anyone else have any insight to this. You of the understanding that our Micro Sims from the Ipad (cut or purchased) will work in either device?

The iPad apparently will try to intercept calls when used with a regular phone microsim.
