  • Already Converted 10 of my family members over to AT&T for Nokia Lumia 900!!!

    Verizon,
You decided to drag you feet, promote the crap out of Android and stop supporting Windows Phone 7.
So I converted 10 of my family members over yesterday to AT&T for the Nokia Lumia 900.
I got them $100 credit towards the Nokia Lumia 900 which AT&T was charging $99 dollars for the phone on Pre-Order.
So my family members only had to pay $36 for the activation fee.
Verizon, you had your chance.  You had multiple chances.  If you truly wanted an LTE Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft, you could have easily worked something out with them, just like AT&T did.
All the information has been leaked out, Apollo/Windows Phone 8 was supposed to have LTE but because AT&T showed that they really were interested in Windows Phone 7 and actually carring a lineup of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft worked it out for them.
So you can take all your Droid crap that you have heavily invested in, along with all your iPhone 4s that keep hogging all the bandwidth on your network and stick it were the sun don't shine.
I promise you this, when my contract is done I will be terminating my account in FULL and switching over to AT&T as well.
To not even stand behind a product that we all have signed 2 year contracts with is unacceptable for the price were paying.  To hold back all updates besides Mango is unacceptable just to lock in new 2 year contracts.  And I'm talking about Droid too.
Carriers should not be in controll of phone updates PERIOD!!!  Updates should be released from the OS Manufactures just like on computers.  This business model that the industry has created is a SCAM, JOKE and an INSULT to everyone that puts there hard earned money up for phone service.
Verizon, you have lost all respect in my book, and I will do everything possible to get everyone and everybody I talk to away from your network.
Only way to solve this issue is to address the Windows Phone 7 community and actually annouce something, PERIOD!!!  Release the 8107 update as a good faith measure and issue a press release stating your business model regarding Windows Phone 7... Unless you want more dollars going to AT&T.
Also, latest news shows that Android only made $22million in revenues last year, and spend $20 billion acquiring Motorola.  So I don't see Andriod being able to do much in the year 2012 to ramp things up to compete against Windows Phone 7/Nokia and Apple.
Do Something, NOW!!! CAN YOU HEAR US NOW!!!
Also, here's another suggestion... Do like AT&T has done and give users a early termination fee to get out of there contracts.  I believe they charge $35 dollars or something higher if your not satisified and want to terminate your contract early.
Since you don't want to support or offer any more Windows Phone 7, why keep us as unhappy customers.  Give us an option to pay a early termination fee and leave!!!

What news are you reading? Android is not a company but a phone operating system. GOOGLE acquired Motorola, not Android. GOOGLE's 2011 revenues were 37.9 billion, NOT 22 million. Google acquired Motorola for 12.5 billion, NOT 20 billion.

Again, where are you getting this information? The AT&T ETF is $325 less $10 for each month of your contract which has been completed. It is NOT $35. Verizon has a similar, although slightly higher ETF of $350 less $10 for each month of your contract which has been completed.
Yes, we can hear you, but you are not making any sense!

  • Can't sync my Macbook with my new Nokia Lumia 900.

I spent two hours with a couple of the tech folks at the AT&T store yesterday, trying to get my new Nokia Lumia 900 to sync to my Macbook... but with no luck. No matter what we did, I kept getting a message that the server was not secure, and so the calendar and address book wouldn't sync. Other things probably as well, though these two were my primary concerns. And, yes, we had downloaded the Windows Phone 7 Connector. It didn't seem to matter. Any suggestions, other than taking the phone back and getting another iPhone for a couple hundred more than I paid for the Lumia?

Take it back and buy an iPhone...
Sorry had to say it -

  • Nokia Lumia 900 Front camera issues

    Hi Moderator,
I bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 few days back and today for the first time when I tried using the front camera on one of my video calls it just froze. Thinking that it is software(skype, tango) problem I tried to open regular camera but the front camera wouldnt come up. I called At&t technical support he advised me to switch off the phone, remove sim, re-insert the sim and turn it on. It worked(thought I still dont understand the realtion between sim and camera). But after some time the camera again hung up on me. This time I switched my phone off for 5 minutes and then turned it on it worked. And I cannot do the whole process again and again all day. Is that a known issue or defect in my phone.

I also have a new Lumia 900 with skype installed.     I am finding that the experience on wifi is still not as smooth as  Facetime on an iPhone.   I am also finding that after I use it a second time (my call hung up in the middle), suddenly my front camera will not work correctly anymore.  It is showing the image as though it has some kind of a filter applied and there does not appear to be a way to turn or reset this filter.  Switching to the front view worked fine.  Audio continued to work fine and my phone did not lock up, other then possibly internet delays.  I got the front camera to work again by powering down.   I think there might still be software issues.

  • Nokia Lumia 900 Issues and Questions

I bought my Nokia Lumia 900 last March and it's running pretty well. It's fast and reliable, although I have some issues regarding it.
    1. When I'm in a conversation and I receive multiple text messages, I need to press the back button as many times as the number of messages I have received so I can go back to the menu. Not a big problem at all, but it can be quite annoying once you've already received a lot of messages and you try to go back to the messages screen.
    2. I don't have the compass. When I try to download apps, it says my phone is missing some features that the app requires, which happens to be the compass. The phone's specification (on the Nokia website) says that the phone has a magnetometer, GSMArena and Wikipedia both say that the Lumia 900 has a compass.
    3. It doesn't have Xbox Live. It's also included in the specifications that the Lumia 900 has Xbox Live, but when I go to Games, I only get Collection.
Issue number 1 isn't that much of a problem, but issues 2 and 3 are very disappointing. I tried searching for ways to fix these and I found an article saying that a reset will fix the compass and Xbox Live issue. I did that, and when I opened it, I saw Xbox Live on my Start Screen but when I activated my Wi-Fi, it changed to Games and still no Xbox Live there. The compass problem isn't fixed either. To those who experienced the same issues, can you please tell me how you fixed it? Thanks in advance.
Also, about the 7.8 update, I've been waiting for it for some time now and it's now available on my unit. Is it safe to install? I'm worried that if it fails it might make my phone useless. How long does it usually take?

    Hi Ronio9riku,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
    1. Once you received multiple text messages, can you not open one message and then press the Start button to go back to the live tiles and select Messaging again to go to the next message?
    2. The phone supports compass (magnetometer). Have you tried to use the On-Device Diagnostic Tools to calibrate the Magnetomer? You can open the dialer and then input ##634#. Select Magnetometer and then calibrate the phone. Make sure that the location of the phone is On under Settings!
    3. The phone supports Xbox Live which you can access on the phone by selecting Games on the start screen or by going to the App List. However, Xbox Live is not available to all countries/regions. You can visit the link for the countries/regions supported: www.xbox.com/LIVE/countries.
It's safe and recommended to update the phone whenever there is a software update offered. This improves the perfomance of the phone so why not connect your phone to your computer, open the Zune and install the update?
For more information, see this link: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp7/update-central
If you're asking how long the update takes, it is usually 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Nokia Lumia 900 needing at least 2 factory resets ...

    Hi there
I'm currently on my second Nokia Lumia 900 device (the first had deformed defects at the top two corners after overheating) and since i've received the second device at least twice a month i have to perform a factory reset in order to prevent the device locking up...
I'm not sure if it's a combination of things or that maybe my expectations of the device are too high possibly however here's my scenario
In a typical day i use the following apps: -
rowi/Cowlick!/gleek/Twitter app (i switch between them all with varying performance)
    Facebook
    Email
    Zune Music
    Nokia Music
    Internet Explorer
What i've found is that Windows Phone runs really smooth and without a hitch... when connected to a WiFi signal!  When i run things through a 3G connection, this is where the phone starts stuttering in general and not just through apps.  for example, the Cowlick and Gleek apps tend to take roughly 60 seconds to load my twitter feed timeline (and this is with full strength 3G signal outdoors) yet rowi will take 10 seconds tops, which lead me to assume that rowi seems to handle 3G connections better than the Cowlick or Gleek apps HOWEVER even just exiting the apps by pressing the back button is majorly delayed compared to when its connected via WiFi - when trying to exit the Cowlick or Gleek app using a 3G connection takes normally 9-10 presses of the back button before it will respond to take me back to the Home screen yet over WiFi it takes no more than 2-3...
Now I remember there was an article talking about Background tasks taking up resources etc and i've switched off all of these which leads me to believe that possibly there are a few things causing these lock ups so I can only think of this being caused by a few things: -
    1) I have too many apps installed on the device at one time
    2) Despite turning off the Background tasks, the Twitter and Facebook accounts set up in the emails + accounts section are updating in the background and removing them may solve the problem
    3) My expectations of the device are too high (I came from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus as my previous phone)
I will confess at one point I had a mixture of 75 apps and games installed on my Lumia 900 at any one time so there's a good chance that may have caused the issue, although all the background tasks were switched off and on my previous phone I had a similar amount of apps installed with no impedement on performance regardless of connection type (WiFi/3G)
Can anyone possibly shed some light on what could be the cause?  Is it my heavy usage or app whording or just too high an expectation of Windows Phone 7.5 after moving from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich?
P.S. Any american Lumia owners care to comment on what like performance is like on their Lumia 900 on AT&T?  3G in the UK at the moment is painfully slow (despite the Lumia 900 DC-HSPA capabilities) so I wonder if it's the 3G performance that's causing my device to hiccup.

    No you will not.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 3 weeks old Nokia Lumia 900 got bricked due to the...

Nokia Lumia 900 has a battery issue. Drained battery wont charge and device wont boot. I'm a victim of this problem after using it for just 3 weeks. Its newly released in India but the problem was there since April. Is this problem fixed? I'm yet to receive my device back from service. Not sure, if the replacement is on the way or repair. What is the technical update on this issue?

same problem, no respond at all and i dont want to send it in already. I've let my Nokia lumias' battery drain out totally like i always did on my e75, but when i tried to switch it on again, nothing happened, no vibration or any sign that it works. After leaving it alone for one day and then charging it for another, it still doesnt respond. Please help

  • Nokia Lumia 900 Camera White Balance "Fix"

I'm not sure if other people have posted about this but I figured out a pain in the @$$ way of coping with the atrocious white balance on the Nokia Lumia 900.  I found that each time you change the white balance setting it will take the first picture with the white balance you choose.  After that it resets itself to whatever it wants.  It doesn't matter what white balance setting you have saved.  So eact picture I have to go into the menu and switch the white balance to something else and then back to the whtie balance I actually want.  It's totally unbelievable.  C'mon Nokia!  Flagship phone?!  Really?!  Do the engineers actually use the device or do they design it and ship the plans off to Asia and just assume everything turned out okay?  The White Balance is malpractice.  And before anyone asks I am on Tango with the latest Nokia update installed.

Hi. We are sorry to hear this. Try doing the troubleshooting steps provided on the below link:

  • Skype on Nokia Lumia 900 no longer available

    Dear skype support and users,
I have been using skype for a long time on my Nokia Lumia 900 but a few days ago the application stopped working saying something like "The application is no longer available on your device". I tried to uninstall the application but now I cannot find the application anymore searching the market place (I find Skype tips and tricks but I do not find Skype!). How can it be possible? How can I have Skype working now?
    thanks for any help
    Dato

(Just commenting here what I more or less wrote on a differnt (third party) forum.) This is not affecting me though but a friend (who got the Lumia 900, once the top model on sale). Now she got to hear that being kicked out from Skype service is for her own good. "We want everyone to experience the best Skype has to offer" meaning: nothing. And about the subscription she can read: "you will want to cancel it". It's, of course, ok to discontinue the development of the old Skype client, but completely kick customers out from own services? What kind of business model is this? What about customer service do (Skype/Microsoft) right which all my business teachers at university obviously taught me completely wrongly? Plus, in these days when you quickly face those famous internet "**bleep**storms" you simply cannot do this. That's sucidal! And last but not least... I don't remember when the official sale for the Lumi 900 stopped, but often customers sign up for a two year subscription, or get a two year guarantee. Assuming the phone was still (somewere on this planet) on sale within the last two years.... and you withdraw an essential feature. Oh, I whish I was a lawer (a lawer in the US, of course). Please Skype/Microsoft think about this once more before it's too late. Oh, my friend btw. will follow your customer friendly advice and will cancel her Skype subscription.

  • Car Charger for Nokia Lumia 900

If you are looking for a Nokia branded car charger I think there is none.

  • Update 7.8 nokia lumia 900

    hi all
i am currently in india and use nokia lumia 900. i got this lumia from usa and thus it has a different RM (radio module) than is used in india...  i want to know whether i will be eligible for 7.8 update..... i was told that i would not be able to use nokia music because of the above mentioned fact...... so i really want to know whether my device in india is compatible with 7.8 update
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is ridiculous. I don't see any notification for update either. Why do you say it's April when it's already May and nothing's been happening. I have Lumia 900 with ATT as well. The thing is, I bought the phone because I was told that it's Windows-8 upgradable last year. Then it's not. Then a promis for Windows Phone 7.8 early Spring. Then now. Then nothing. I don't think I will buy a Nokia/MS ever again. This is the reason your company sinks so much, Nokia. Look at Apple. You won't see this ridiculous type of issues...

  • Nokia Lumia 900

The Lumia 900 is about to be introduced.  I'm wondering how it compares to the competition in terms of what the phone can actually do (now, or in the very near future).
I'm not concerned with the "price", as over a year's time, and more, the original purchase price of the phone is negligible compared to the other expenses.  I'm assuming it will be available unlocked for those who don't want to deal with the various carriers and their pre-loaded software, blocks, and restrictions.  If price is no object, how will this device compare to the competition?
I guess what I'm asking, is if it does the basic things that most of us expect nowadays from a mobile phone?  For myself, I'm curious as to how it compares to the N8 Nokia, the iPhone, and the newer Android devices.
Will it work with ALL the common frequency bands, so it will be useable in Europe, Asia, and the USA (both AT&T and T-Mobile), at both "slow" and "fast" connections?
How will it interface with common computer software, such as Microsoft Contacts, Outlook Contacts, Calendars, gmail, and so on? Will all of these be fully functional on the 900?
Will the Bluetooth connection allow it to send/receive from our existing phones?
When/if the battery needs replacing, how big a deal will that be?
Can the user customize the phone as many of us are now used to doing, with commonly available themes, ringtones, wallpaer, etc.?
Will it work with the commonly available communications software such as Skype, Jajah, Windows Messenger, MagicJack, Viber, and so on.
Lastly, will it have a "standard" file structure, allowing files to be copied to/from the phone using Windows Explorer, and photos to be "imported" from the phone either by Windows tools, or Lightroom (or other similar programs)?

It will compete on every level, however as far as customization of themes and tones is concerned, there are no 'Themes' metro changes the phone as you move from one app to another, and there is nowhere to see a screen background photo as such, As for BT file transfer, it isn't possible, but you can transfer contacts via BT. To move siles you have skydrive and microsoft office . Also synchronising calendars, contacts, outlook etc are simple through your live account.
WP is a much more reliable (zero freezes or reboots/resets in over 4 months) much quicker and a better web experience than Symbian. The thing to do is to read some independent reviews, which are filling the web at the moment, and to go to a shop and try one . Personally, as a long time Nokia user, I'm very impressed and , for me , it covers all the bases.
