At&t sim card help
I have a iPhone 4 and a few months ago I got the galaxy s 2. Now don't get me wrong it's a great phone but the battery life *****, I've had to format the SD card 4 times, and hard reset 2 times. A phone like that should have to do that.
So if I take my iPhone back to at&t and tell them I want to turn that sim card back on (the iPhone's sim card is a mirco sim and GS2 is normal "4G" sim card" will they charge me a activation fee or a upgrade fee?
They may charge you an activation fee, but no one here can definitively answer that question. You'll just have to go to an AT&T store. If you're a good customer(pay your bill on time, etc.), they may do everything for free.

Hi, Hopefully someone has the answer to this question as it is baffling me as to why my phone will not register.
I have a British purchased iPhone 4s that has been unlocked (was Orange) and I want to put a Spanish pay as you go sim in from a large carrier "Yoigo". It come up with the following message when I attempt to activate, "The Sim card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. You say that it was unlocked by Orange but when you restored your phone after the unlocking was processed by Orange, did you get a message in iTunes saying something like "congratulations your iPhone is now unlocked"?
If you did not, maybe you should try the unlocking process again. Follow the steps provided by Orange carefully. -
i have a Canadian Iphone 4s and i cant activate it in denmark. i tried restoring it. i tried putting a denmark sim card. i tried to connect it to itunes. non of those worked. what should i do then.
Define "can't activate." Exactly what happens when you try. Is this phone carrier locked?

I put the paper clip into the hole on the side of the iphone for the sim card and nothing happened. how do I get the sim card out?

Not really. The sim card simply allows for connection to a cellular network. It should not affect how the iPad operates in any other way.
Though there's no harm in removing it. Just pop the tray. -
my iphone 4s has been reporting invalid sim/sim card failure intermittently for a week. I thought it was a one/two-time thing, so had to manually eject SIM card and put back in. Today, after it happened twice in 12 hours, someone told me to reset - i thought they meant reset all settings, not network settings. while in the middle of resetting, there was an invalid SIM card again. so a few questions - which should i do first? try to manually back up from itunes (not connected to cloud - will be after tonight!), or eject SIM card? don't know if one will jeopardize the other. also, the last time i backed up was 6 days ago - have taken hundreds of pics since then - are those all lost? is there a way to essentially not reset? i thought the reset was okay because it said i'd lose no data or media. Help! thanks much!

I erased an iphone on find my iphone , so i wanted to know what happened and I erased my without a sim card and now I says I cant go on it until i put in a sim card. Did i ruin the phone please help thanks.
You did not ruin the phone, you will need a sim card to activate the phone and then connect the phone to itunes and do a restore from back up.

Sounds like your phone was hacked to use with your carrier. Updating it has relocked the phone to it's original carrier. You will not get the phone working again without a SIM from the original carrier.

HELP!!! iPhone randomly reset and now it won't detect SIM card?
Ok so here's what I was doing when this all happened.
I had called the Linksys support for a new router I just bought that wasn't working right. After waiting about 8 mins I was connected to a gentlmen in India, we worked on my problem for about 10mins or so and then all of sudden my phone just reset, or at least went to the apple logo and just sat there.
then after 30 seconds it started ringing (before it fully restarted) and it was the tech gentlemen call me back. So I slide the thing to answer and the screen froze with the slider on the right but not unlocked but I could see the time and my back ground, just no buttons and I could still hear him and talk to him.
After we fix my problem with the router he hung up, but my phone was still froze and then it started ringing (a friend had tried to call me before it reset while I was on the phone so I assume it was him again). I couldn't answer and it just kept ringing and ringing so I held the wake button and slide the red slider to shut it off.
Left it off for 30 seconds or so then press and held it again to turn it on. Now it says restore need, connect to itunes!
ok, so I did and after wait about 30sec to a minute after connecting it to itunes it comes up with this error:
*"iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required. Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap Unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iPhone."*
What the heck?! I've had it randomly reset once before about a month and a half ago and which point I did have to restore, and it did and it worked fine after that.
The SIM card IS in there, and I have no idea what my SIM PIN would be, nor do I see the option for it they speak of! And this happened about 9:30pm, well after any Apple or AT&T stores are closed! I even turned off the phone, took the SIM card out and put it back and it still did the same thing!
What would cause this to randomly just mess-up like this? I loved this phone when I got it but now that this is the 2nd time this has happened and much worse I'm pretty ticked about it. And it's not like I hacked it or unlocked it or whatever that is even called, the only things I've put on my iphone are music, pictures, and programs I all got thru itunes!

Went into the O2 store (this is the provider selling iPhones in the UK) and they told me is the SIM card. Got a new one but still the same...
There is something going on here because I've seen lots of claims with the exact same description. Its almost like there is a bug in the software that gets activated on the 3rd of January.
Will go tomorrow again and ask for a new phone. -
I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"
How can I sinc this phone with iTunes, so I can use it to lisen to music?
Any help will be apriacietedI can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". Like I mention, I went to Bell as well Rogers store and tried to insert active SIM card with no results.

The salesperson for my iphone 4 said on Christmas morning we could go to our online account, select my number, select to change my SIM card, and enter the ICCID number so that I'd be able to use my iphone 4 today instead of my old phone (not an iphone). I have not seen any such steps. Help?
I suspect the salesperson that told you that meant your online account with your carrier...have you tried logging into your carrier account online? To do this will require the sim number on your sim card, as well as the phone's IMEI number...you get the sim number off the sim card & the IMEI number, for the phone, is printed on the box.

I have an iPad 2 that is defective. Apple has replaced it with a new one. First off, how do I know if I have a Sim card? Secondly, I backed up my old iPad the other night (iPad plugged into iTunes). Can somebody help me and explain how I set up my new iPad now? Then how do I register it with my new serial number, etc.? Any and all help is appreciated. I'm not mechanically inclined, so to speak, so if anyone can make it easy on me it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, my iPad 2 is a 64 GB with WiFi and 3G. Start iTunes.
Plug in your iPad using the USB cable.
Click on the iPad in the left hand column under "Devices".
In the "Summary" tab, there are options to Back up, Update and Restore.
Choose Restore, choose the backup and let it run.

If your old iPad was capable of receiving data on the go, without wifi, then you have a SIM installed. Best to check anyway. You need either the tool supplied in the box, or the end of a paper clip to open the tray

I restore my iPhone 4S on iTunes after the restore was completed the iPhone was restarted and now asking for valid SIM card which I didn't,t have and I was using the iPhone with wifi, and now can't use it because the screen is locked for SIM card. Can anyone help me please.

And you are 100% sure its locked to them? How can you know this? While GCI does not offer unlocking that does not mean the phone is actually locked to it. Get off your high horse.
Its possible the original owner had an unlocked phone. he was using with GCI. Or that GCI doesn't actually have locked phones. Seeing as they don't even have their own infrastructure but instead use AT&T's I doubt they'd have iPhones specifically locked to them and that would be the reason they do not offer unlocking (because there's nothing for them to unlock). And just to clarify, I'm not saying for a fact its not locked to them. It very well maybe be, but without knowing more about the phone and going by the fact GCI uses AT&T infrastrucure its possible its not locked. But here's no way to say for sure either way.
Trying a Sim card from AT&T or another carrier might just help the OP if its actually unlocked or locked to AT&T rather than GCI. -

You do a restore as new to wipe the iPhone then at the end of restore you will be asked to restore from backup. Choose your iPhone backup.
Note you cannot restore an IOS newer than the IOS on iPhone, you need to update iPhone first.
