AT&T SIM in a Factory Unlocked iPhone4

I successfully activated a factory unlocked iphone that I bought from Canada and currently using it with an Asiacell SIM. When I go back to the U.S. and insert my AT&T SIM (that was on my other iPhone), will it become locked?

If you have an iPhone is a factory unlocked, it will unlocked forever, whatever SIM card you put in, doesn't take any affected. cheers

    Oh those Canadians, you just have to take what they say with a grain of salt.
    The warranty on the iPhone, contract or not, is not world wide. If something happens to your iPhone I seriously doubt wherever you are in Europe that they stock Canadian unlocked iPhones. Worse, if you take it to an Apple Store in a country where the iPhone is locked then they can only replace it with a locked iPhone from their supply of replacement phones. If it is with a different cell provider than you use well, that's just too bad.
    You would either need to return to Canada for service or send it to someone there who can take it in for you.

    The ONLY way to get any carrier locked iPhone officially unlocked is through the carrier the phone is locked to. There is no other way to get an iPhone officially unlocked. So, contact the carrier your phone is locked to to see if they offer unlocking & what the cost/procedure is. If they don't offer unlocking or you don't qualify, then there is no way to get your phone officially unlocked.

    Can someone please confrim as I am getting mixed messages from Apple and other users.  I have bought a factory unlocked iPhone 4 from the online apple store (Canada) and activated it with my Canadian (Telus) micro sim by connecting it to iTunes.  Works fine. When I travel to another country and get a new sim will I have to connect iTunes again to activate the iPhone with a new sim (eg. AT&T or T-mobile)?   Some say that I need to only activate once and then I am free to pop in any micro sim (Canadian or Foreign) without going through iTunes prompt again.  Others tell me that i will have to bring  my computer with me to connect with iTunes to activate the new sim.  Also I was told by apple that i can't stick a new AT&T sim in in iPhone 4  to activate the phone while in canada because I need an active carrier signal. I will have to activate in the US. Is this true?
    You folks with unlocked iPhone 4 s please chime in and tell me your experience. Your help is gratefully appreciated.

    The problem is sloved. Turns out that Apple sent me a replacment iPhone 4 that was only unlocked to Canadian carriers.  The iPhone 4 you buy on the apple.ca online store comes world wide unlocked.  At first they were trying to tell me that the apple online phones are only unlocked to Canandian carriers but this was confrimed with sales that no they are world wide unlocked.  Apple updated my profile for the iPhone4 and now I can stick any sim (Rogers, Telus, Bell, A&T, T-mobile) into the iPhone 4 and there is NO prompt to connect to iTunes.   Also confirmed that you do not need to be near an AT&T carrier signal to have the iPhone activate.  I was in Canada and stuck in an AT&T sim and it found Rogers on roaming and it was fine.

    If you call Apple Care with the serial number, they may be able to tell you. What they will not be able to tell you is whether the phone was reported to a carrier as lost or stolen and subsequently blacklisted, meaning locked or unlocked, it will be useless.
    The best way to know is buy a new phone from a legitimate source, or, if you must buy second hand, buy from someone you know and trust.

    No, you can't get it unlocked. AT&amp;T will not authorise the unlocking of iPhones for anyone or any reason.
    Sell the phone and buy an unlocked model.

    You need to contact the phone company/carrier to be able to get the phone unlocked.  Do not post any personal information on a user to user technical support forum.  Nobody here can help you.
    Contact your phone carrier as they are the only ones who can unlock the phone for you.

    No one can help you. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can unlock it. You will need to work with them.
