AT&T Unite Pro

I have an AT&T Unite Pro that I use as my home internet.  Sure, the limit isn't huge but I have bought a dock for it (See: http://amzn.to/1OeN5lJ).  Since it's my home internet, it is always-on.  I currently have it bridged from USB to Ethernet on a old laptop, having the ethernet go into a normal wifi router to have a home network.  That being said, I have the unite pro running on the computer USB power only.  Was wondering if it would also run off just AC power on the dock also.  This doesn't damage the hotspot using AC power only with the battery out does it? As I'd rather not shorten the life of the battery having it charging all day.  Thanks!

Ok, but running the hotspot on AC power won't damage it. Correct?

  • AirPort to AT&T Unite Pro (Netgear AirCard) - how to?

    I just switched from a cellular based Internet provider (that used an "in the antenna" based modem that terminated in an RJ45 Ethernet cable) to an AT&T hotspot (Unite Pro / Netgear AirCard).
    How does one set up the AirPort (TimeCapsule) to grab the AT&T hotspot signal (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz) to run through the AirPort? I have an extended network of Airport and AirPort Express units around the house and barn and simply need to get the baste AirPort / Time Capsule unit to grab the AT&T signal. For whatever reasons, since being dropped by the old ISP the AirPort doesn't seem to even want to be recognized by the AirPort Utility. Very confusing (not to mention frustrating).

    With the proper setup, it should be possible to use a wireless Ethernet bridge for the communication with the Wi-Fi portion of the hotspot. The wireless Ethernet bridge could then be connected to the WAN port of a Time Capsule by cable. There are wireless Ethernet bridge devices from several manufacturers (examples include Linksys WET610N and Netgear WNCE2001). Some AirPort Express models can also be configured to act as a wireless Ethernet bridge.

  • Macbook Pro Video Screen Blank - Transfer Data to New Unit

    My 2008 Macbook Pro went to sleep and woke up with a dead screen.  Same thing with the Pismo 6 years ago; will not go through nor will I throw away my money again with multiple service providers like I did during that episode.  Want to purchase a new Macbook Pro and transfer my data to the new unit.  Current unit still starts up, chimes, etc. just no video.  How would I go about transferring my data?

    You have two options, Target Disk Mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
    Or take the HDD out, install it in an enclosure, then attach it to the new MBP via USB.
    Ciao.

  • Can I connect and use a Dell projection unit..several years old...with my new Macbook Pro?  do i just need an adaptor for the multi-pin plug?

    I would like to use my old Dell projection unit with my new Macbook Pro laptop, but obviously there is no such plug in the Macbook.  Is there an adaptor I can connect and make it work?  Without the old "F" keys, how do I get the Macbook to provide output to the projection unit?  I don't see an icon on a button anywhere?
    Thanks for any help...  trying to become a good Apple user.

    You have to determine what connection options are available on the projector.  You probably will need a Mini-displayport (Thunderbolt) adapter. that can accommodate the projector.
    Ciao.

  • Power unit from older MacBook Pro - using it with newer model

    I once had a MacBook Pro, one of the early version, bought somewhere in August 2006. Now I have the power unit that is left from it. I want to use it with my current MacBook Pro which is newer model, but not the one which is currently sold - it is NOT the unibody model, it looks exactly like the previous model, but with better spec, and the notable difference is that on the previous model the green diode near camera had a single hole, and the newer model has lots of tiny miniholes there, which makes it completely invisible unless the diode is lit.
    (unfortunately I have no idea how to identify those two models more correctly - model numbers or whatever)
    When I compare the power units - the one which I have with my current model, and the one which is left from the previous, the newer is a bit smaller, and the power output markings are a bit differently organised, not totally identical, but they show what I understand is same voltage/amperage.
    I'm still a bit cautious about using the power unit from the older model. Did anyone tried it, is it safe?

    Next time you can use Mactracker to identify your machines exactly:
    http://www.mactracker.ca/
    Go to >About this Mac>More Info and you will see the Model Name and Model Identifier.
    Good luck!

    //change field names as needed
    var qt1 = this.getField("qt1").value;
    var up1 = this.getField("up1").value;
    var qt2 = this.getField("qt2").value;
    var up2 = this.getField("up2").value;
    event.value = (qt1 * up1) + (qt2 * up2);
    I put this in total text field (calculation tab , Custom script) , but it  did not worked.
    I appreciate it if anyone can help or give me  suggestion.

  • Is it possible to purchase an Applecare plan from the United States (LLA) for a MacBook Pro from Latin America (LZA)?

    Is it possible to purchase an Applecare plan from the United States (LLA) for a MacBook Pro from Latin America (LZA)?

    That's somewhat of a legal question which may not be able to be answered here by the uers/volunteers - I'd suggest you check with a local apple store.
    In the US, you can purchase it at any authorized reseller as long as you register it with the serial number of the computer within the first 364 days of ownership, but I do not know if a US product will work with one from another country.

  • Premiere Pro Mac - VST & Audio Unit Support - Something is wrong....

    I run PPRO on Mac Lion.
    I AM aware of the fact that PPRO is a 64 bit application.
    Adobe does NOT seem to be aware of the fact that most audio plugs are 32 bit.
    Reason for this is that there is very little need for a simple Compressor or EQ to be able to address more than 2GB of RAM ;-)
    So most professional DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) which are 64 bit IMPLEMENTS a bridge that allows the app to use 32 bit Audio Effects.
    I own and operate a recording studio and beta test for a lot of VST/AudioUnit vendors. None of them (the important ones) are planning 64 bit, anytime soon.
    So either I am missing the obvios and I CAN use 32 bit VST/Audio Units in PPRO on Mac ---- Or adobe needs to address this ASAP.
    If not, well anyone relying on audio effects will have to NOT edit his audio in PPRO ????
    I hope I am missing the totally obvious, I mean, ALL other NLEs have GREAT solutions for Audio Effects - In PPRO I am confined to the adobe audio effects which are not really on par with professional audio plugs.
    Any advise would be nice....

    This is from page 326 of the PrCS5 user guide:
    Premiere Pro supports the Steinberg VST (Virtual Studio Technology) audio plug-in format so that you can add VST audio effects from third-party vendors. Premiere Pro includes VST plug-in effects that are available in both the Audio Mixer and the Effect Controls panel. Track-based VST plug-ins may provide additional controls. Apply VST effects the same way you apply other audio effects to tracks or clips.In the Effects And Sends panels of the Audio Mixer, VST effects appear in the Effect Selection menus. In the Effects panel, they appear in the Audio Effects bin so you can apply them to individual clips. In most cases, VST effects appear in the Audio Effects bin and track type that corresponds to the number of channels the effect supports. For example, stereo VST effects appear in the Audio Mixer track effect menus for stereo tracks only, and in the Stereo bin in the Audio Effects bin in the Effects panel. After you apply any VST effect, you can open a window with all of its controls. You can leave multiple VST editor windows open as long as you want, such as when automating effects, but Premiere Pro closes all VST editor windows when you close the project.If you previously installed a VST-compatible application other than Premiere Pro, Premiere Pro finds VST effects in the VST folder that already exists. Inside the Plug-ins folder of the Premiere Pro application folder, there is also a VSTPlugins folder with plug-ins that are used only by Premiere Pro.
    However, I have never gotten my VST effects to even show up in Pr Mac.  They do work in Au (also FCP, STP and MOTU DP), so I conclude it's a bug, or an undocumented and/or unavowed disimplementation.
    I wish they did work, because I like to us PSP Vintage Warmer on VO tracks.  I've learned to get by with the Multiband Compressor, or send to Audition.

  • Logic Pro 9 WILL NOT recognise EZdrummer in Audio Units Manager, HELP??

    I recently purchased and installed Toontrack's EZdrummer plug-in to work inside Logic Pro.
    However, after a week of trying, I for some bizarre reason cannot get Logic to recognize the plug-in/vst.
    All week i've conquered the internet looking for solutions but sadly nothing has helped, i've tried everything from trashing cache files to rescanning audio units to manually moving files...STILL NOTHING!
    This problem has annoyed many people as I scroll effortlessly down Google looking at other peoples quetions and responses, yet nothing works for me. PLEASE SOMEBODY KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!

    Basic Troubleshooting steps...
    First of all Logic Pro cannot use VSTs.. It uses AudioUnit (AU) Plugins..
    Have you checked the AU Manager (Found under the Logic Pro menu item...)  to see if it installed and validated correctly
    If it is not there, it did not install correctly in which case reinstall or failing that contact ToonTracks for assistance.
    If it is there but not validated, select it and manually recscan it to validate it. If it fails to validated again contact ToonTracks..
    if it is there and validated,
    When you start a new project in Logic and create a Software Instrument track.. and then you press and hold the Software Instrument button in the track strip.. do you see the ToonTracks entry? (along with all the Logic Pro's plugins and other 3rd party AU Plugins you may have installed)
    The Software Instrument button  is located as shown in this screenshot..

    when i try to open logic x i get a message sayingLogic Pro X unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit “Kontakt 4” by “Native Instruments”. This plug-in may require an update. how can i fix that?

    Update the plugin or delete it.
    Kontakt 4 is a 32 bit plugin, it won't run in Logic Pro X
    You need Kontakt 5

  • Hello All, I have a Model - MacBook Pro Laptop and the screen recently turned grey giving me zero visibility or access to the computer. Has anyone else seen or had this problem? Is it fixable or should I get a new unit?

    Hello all,
    I have a Model - MacBook Pro Laptop and the screen recently turned the colour grey, giving me no visibility or access to the unit.
    Has anyone had or seen this problem before? Can it be fixed? I had a repair guy from my local Mac Store take a look at it - he said I needed a whole new screen and top of the computer, but this didn't fix the problem. I took the unit home unrepaired, and a week later it was all of a sudden working fine.
    What is happening with my Laptop? Once this happens (grey screen) does it mean that it's going to become a chronic problem?
    Please advise....Thanks

    It's kind of difficult to diagnosis your problem without a visual clue, because there is a (mostly) software based "gray screen" at boot issue.
    But if you got the screen replaced, took it home and now it works, why the repair shop didn't get it working before it left the store is beyond me.
    Unless the repair shop is a authorized apple reseller/repair, I wouldn't have taken it to them, and of you did, they should have fixed the issue right away.

  • Best display calibration unit for mac pro under $100?

    I have come to the conclusion that calibration by eye is a suckers bet.  So looking at calibration units, for example spyder 3 express.
    Wondering what units work best with mac pro (2008 8 core).
    Thanks for replies.

    My experience is that it comes down to multiple factors. The monitor, the application you're using, along with the color profiles you're using.
    I use a 30" Dell display hooked to a 5770 graphics card and I make sure the color profiles are consistant over the applications I use.
    At one stage I bought a Huey Color Correction device. I eventually put it on the shelf and forgot about it.
    My conclusion is, after years of consistently good color printing results, is that if you've got the components right like a good monitor and working with consistant color and press profiles then the "Expert Mode" is Apple's Color Calibration in System Preferences is completely adequate.
    I spend every day color correcting in our graphic design business and we get terrific, predictable results.
