At what point is it best to recharge the iPad battery

Do yo wait until it is down to1% or what?  This is a new iPad.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • The best way to charge iPad battery?

I have been searching for the best to charge an iPad battery and found this bit of information on www.apple.com/batteries
"A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put notebook, iPod, and iPhone batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity. As with other rechargeable batteries, you may eventually need to replace your battery."
According to this information whatever the charging behaviour is, it will likely not affect the battery lifespan. Because one complete cycle is needed to affect it and one charge does not mean one charging cycle (according to the article).
I'm not a battery expert, so can someone confirm that this is correct?

It is correct. Lithium ion batteries are very accomodating, and really don't min what you do, as long as they are fed from time to time.

What exactly are bezels when referring to the ipad?

In what context are you seeing this term? The only use of "bezel" in relation to the iPad I can think of is the frame, aka "bezel" that surrounds the screen.

  • What do I need to do to the iPad to enable File Sharing?

I have a new iPad mini with retina display.  I cannot make Sharing Files in iTunes work.  All the apps that can share do show up in the File Sharing list, on the left.  But if I click any one of them, nothing shows in the column on the right.
I can use File Sharing successfully with iTunes and my iPod Touch.  What do I need to do to the iPad to enable File Sharing?
    Thanks!

    iPad works the same.
Without using wifi and the Cloud Pages, Keynote and Artstudio will not stay in sync.   If you are not going to use wireless and the cloud you will have to constantly use "transfer purchases" each time to sync any changes on the mobile device back onto the computer, then sync the computer back to each mobile device.
This isn't a file sharing problem.   You are using devices designed to share via wifi and the cloud, but NOT using those features.
This will force you to constantly copy back and forth each time you make changes.
**You might want to check in Settings > Pages > turn iCloud switch to OFF (not green)   This may resolve moving back and forth with cables as the iPad will not expect to use iCloud.

  • How long should it take to recharge the iPad 2?

The time required to recharge the iPad 2 battery seems very excessive. Starting at a little less than 20%, after 4 hours it had recharged only to 75 %.

  • HT1451 I have the 128gb iPad 4 but for some reason the category other (yellow) says I have 64.26 gb being used. What is stored under other category on the iPad?

What is stored under "other" category on the iPad?

The long and short of it is that you will probably have to restore your iPad. That giant "other" space is a sign of a corrupt file from a sync, I am pretty sure, but I am quite sure that the way to resolve it is to restore the iPad.
You can search the discussion site for similar threads but I think you will find that a restore is the way to correct it. Read this one.

  • At what point does iM 09 reputedly drop the 2nd frame of video

Reading the boards it seems to be accepted that iM 09 drops every other frame of video in it's processing as opposed to iMHD 6 which is reputed to produce superior video quality.
At what point in the video processing does iM 09 skip that second frame? Is the quality lost when initially transferring the video info into the program or when the edited info is transferred to iDVD for burning?

iMovie 'drops' the frames of video footage that is in DV format upon export of the video, not import. All the frames are imported, but not used when iMovie is 'shared.'
That is what Steve Mullen addresses in his 'fix' to get best quality with DV footage in iMovie 9. See his comments in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1882630&tstart=0
WAAAAY down in the comments, he says:
+It makes no difference how you get DV into iM.+
+All these posts about 06 miss his point -- which is that there is NO WAY to export interlaced DV from iM09 (or 08). One field is always missing so quality is always lost.+
+Currently, for standard definition video (PAL/NTSC) iM09 will export full quality interlaced video ONLY if it is AIC. So you've got to convert DV to AIC. iM likes AIC. For example, AVCHD is always converted by iM to AIC.+
+Bottom line -- you must edit AIC because iM will not edit either DV or AVCHD.+
+The difference is that iM will automatically convert AVCHD during import. With DV you need to do it yourself. Of course, you need to do it correctly.+
+And, you must export it correctly. You cannot Share to iDVD. You must Share to QT.+

  • What's the point in creating photo albums on the iPad?

So I took some photos on my iPhone they sync'd to my iPad via photo stream. I then created an album on my iPad and started copying photos from photo stream to the album.. All good.
Now, that album doesn't seem to sync to my iPhone, or to iPhoto or anywhere. Nothing's happening by iCloud, and nothing is sync'd when I sync with iTunes via Wifi or USB. If I plug in by USB, iPhoto has no knowledge of the Album on the iPad.
There are no album-level sharing options (e.g. Publish album to iCloud/Facebook or anything).
So what's the point of creating the album on the iPad?

If you've taken photos with the iPad, and/or synced photos from your computer, then you may want to create an album with just a selection of those photos so that you can then just show those photos in a slideshow on the iPad e.g. you may have taken 100's of photos with the iPad and just want to show those with your children in.

  • Any best practices for the iPad mini????

I am in the beginning stages of designing my mag for the iPad.... now the iPad mini seems to be all the hype and the latest news states that the mini may out sell the larger one.
So... I know that the dimensions are 1x1 on bumping down to the smaller screen... but what about font sizes? what about the experience? Anyone already ahead of the game?
I have my own answers to these questions, but any one out there have some best practice advice or links to some articles they find informative...

I think 18-pt body text is fine for the iPad 2 but too small for the iPad mini. Obviously, it depends on your design and which font you're using, but it seems like a good idea to bump up the font size a couple points to account for the smaller screen.
For the same reason, be careful with small buttons and small tap areas.
I've also noticed that for whatever reason, MSOs and scrollable frames in PNG/JPG articles look great on the iPad 2 but look slightly more pixelated on the iPad Mini. It might just be my imagination.
Make sure that you test your design on the Mini.

  • What's a good forge game for the iPad?

I was wondering if there was a game for the iPad kind of like Gary's Mod or the forge on Halo Reach.

There isn't one, and there won't be one. Apple and Adobe could never get a flash player that worked. And now since Adobe has ceased all production on mobile flash, there won't ever be one.
Your best alternative is to explore the app store for browsers that support flash and see if one of them will do what you want.

  • What is a compatible signal booster for the ipad?

There are a number of signal boosters for cell phones.  A few of them advertise that they work with aircards.  Does anyone know if there are signal boosters compatible with the ipad or what specifications I need to research?  It would be good to be able to access verizon when I'm traveling if I need a boost in signal.
    Thanks for your input.

  • What is a good protective case for the ipad 4th gen?

    Hi,
I recently bought my first iPad (ipad 4). I want to get a protective case in case I drop it. Some of the features I want include, 360 degree viewing angle, auto wake and sleep (doesn’t have to have this but would be nice) I don’t want big case like the otter box cases. I want a folio case with different viewing angles.
the reason i want it to rotate is because i want to record lectures. so if you know of any cases let me know!
if you could help me out that would be great! I have been researching for over a week! You guys have never failed me before!
is the ipad smart COVER offer any protection?
    Thanks
    Austin

For drop protection, you aren't going to get much better than the Otter, but yes it will add some bulk to the iPad (really any high level drop protection case will). That isn't to say other cases will not offer some protection against dropping, but not as effective. The Apple Smart cover offers no back protection at all, and the Smart Case only minimal.
Not sure what you mean by "360 degree viewing angle" or why it would matter. Any case offering a portrait and a landscape orientation should work. (also not so sure how effective at recording lectures the iPad would be). There are literally hundreds of polio type cases available. Most will offer a number of angles in landscape mode, but fewer for portrait mode.
Even some fairly inexpensive folio cases offer the smart cover function.
I would recommend a trip to a full service electronics store such as Best Buy and have a look yourself. Really the only way you will be able to make a decision.

It is my understanding from these documents that if it is on and connected to the internet you can track it. In there it tells how tell if it is online by the color of the dot.

I still think this person is bluffing, but what confuses me is how this person knew how to contact you (?) You must not have had any security on it at all when lost.
    Likely nothing (see #3)
If it were mine, I would erase it to make an expensive paperweight out of it and call it lessons learned - that is if at this point you still can, punch the button!
I can only go by what the Apple documents have told us, as your situation seems totally unique to any I have heard.
