Currently, Siri's location based services are only available in the U.S. Additionally, even if you are in the U.S., if you change Siri's language to another country's, including U.K. English, the location based services will not work.

Help! I just got this Lion, and SO many changes & not necessarily for the better !
I went to the Apple icon, but "Software Updates" did not show ... though I had deferred installing some updates ...
Finally it showed up, I clicked on it, saw the updates to do - BUT when I clicked on install - the "box" that usually shows the updates & how long to install - just disappeared! I can't get to it to see what's next. (I have to leave soon & will turn off the mac)
What's happening? How come I can't see the updates as they are installed, & how much time it will take?
How do I know IF they have been installed? Is this the "new Normal" for Lion? Or is there a glitch in my mac somewhere?
How about updates you download from Apple (not bought) - they go to Downloads on the Sideboard, but are they installed automatically, & put where they belong too? Is there no more restart, etc.?
- I just went to Systems Preference, to see the "Installed Software" - shows they were ... but don't I have to restart anymore? Are all updates now automatically placed where they belong?

After updating today MacPro with OS 10.7.5 will not restart, can someone advise what to do?
Had an OS update today, from OS X Lion to ver 10.7.5 which needed to restart to install. My computer will not restart. Have MacPro.
Ok so here's what happened. My machine has 8GB Ram. We tested the Ram and moved it between the cards & slots in the Mac in various combinations. As far as we can tell Ram is fine. We removed two sticks of Ram and now the machine runs with 6Gb Ram... At a loss to explain why but the machine is now running again and seems normal if a little slower. Will continue to run with 6 and see what happens.

Dear Support Team,
I agreed to the Time Capsule 7.6.4 update today, but as it was completing, I received an error. It said to close the page and try again.
I use my Time Capsule as my Airport wireless router and now can't access the Time Capsule to re-upload the Firmware update.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Is there a way to resolve the problem?
Do I need to hardwire the Time Capsule? Then what?

Thanks everyone.Factory reset the TC and it should come back to life.
The Factory Reset.
Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.
As a rule .. wireless is not reliable enough for mission critical work like firmware upgrades.. (Heck I don't think it is reliable enough for backups).
Apple doesn't insist on wired connections.. some other manufacturers do.. and post warnings not to attempt it over wireless. Warnings inevitably read after the failed firmware update btw.. so perhaps Apple have decided to just save themselves the hassle.
I believe it is just good practice to use ethernet for any time that sitting on a branch.. whilst sawing it off (ie failure will kill any future access).. means you always use ethernet for any setting up of a wireless router.. but you see I am old.. with grey/white hair.. and too many dead modems and routers around me. -
No matter what I try, Camera Raw will not update from 8.3 to 8.4.1 in PS CC
I've tried completely uninstalling Bridge and Photoshop CC and reinstalling and I'm still on Camera Raw 8.3.
It just will not update.
I also tried the link to manually install and it just says the patch is not applicable.
Any ideas why even after completely removing and reinstalling both Bridge and Photoshop my Camera Raw will not update?

Had your post been put in a forum I subscribed to and happen to notice days ago, then I might have seen it, then, but didn't see it until this afternoon, and the e-mail version of your post only had the scant initial information, not the subsequent question and answer about your OS that you'd replied to on the other forum. So as you say, I had not read the thread, because it was on a forum I didn't subscribe to. So be shocked and perhaps awed as is necessary. My treat.
Second, I did make a typo when I said Win8/8/8.1 and it should have been Win7/8/8.1, which might have been deduced by the repeated 8, so you could have asked for clarification.
Seeing as you're on Windows 7 which ACR 8.4 should be compatible with, one minor detail is that I see in the compatible Lightroom 5.4 requirements that it needs Windows 7 Service Pack 1, which would mean you'd want to be caught up on your Windows Updates, which I would assume you'd be.
There are direct links to ACR 8.4(.1) on Jeff Tranberry's blog that are distinct for PS-CS6 and PS-CC so maybe that is what isn't right?
Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
You might check what version of PS-CC you have. 14.2.1 is the most current, and maybe that is prerequisite to ACR 8.4.1, I don't know.
If worse comes to worse, uninstall everything Adobe, then run the CS Cleaner then re-install CC Desktop and see what happens as you install PS-CC and it's updates. It may need to be run several times.
Once you're ready to retry your installs, you also might try to Quit CC Desktop and run it As Administrator in case there is a permissions issue.

I've been running multiple monitors for over a year on my Macbook. Updated today to Lion OSx and well Steve, it didn't just work. My macbook will not detect my three external monitors, and after scouring the last hour on Google of how to remedy this and trying the basic suggestions of restarting, unplugging, replugging, to no avail. Anyone else have a similar problem since they've upgraded to Lion OSx?

No. Time Machine should be on a separate HDD and will take care of deleting backups when necessary on that drive.

All Macs using Time Machine will experience the same conditions. The problem is that many users do not under stand what 'Other' is and that leads to confusion. There are many essential OS files in that category that should not be touched as well as some user files. The issue is not to reduce 'Other' as such, but reduce the total amount of data on the HDD if space is becoming a premium.

my MAc Book PRO 13" Retina display will not update. It crashes every time I try to do an update. I have sent in the information on each update but so far nothing back from Apple. Also it does not matter what I am trying to update, the operating system, and application, each caused the same crash. This mac book is less than a month old.
That is the highest you will be able to go with 3g. You need 3gs or 4 to go any higher (multi processors and more memory needed). Version 4.2.1 marks the end of your updates for that device.

My ipod touch 4g just updates today on itunes and the update caused more trouble than good for me. My ipod will no longer show me the battery percentage in the top right hand corner and I am not allowed to drag other applications to the bottom panel. Also my itunes doesn't allow "enable disk use" anymore. Can anyone help? My ipod now says that it's the 4.3.4 version

my airport time capsule will no longer allow our iPhones or vizio smart tvs to connect to it, though my iPad air mac mini and mac air connect fine. Why is this? does a recent software update have anything to do with it?
What model is your TC? What is the firmware?
I recommend you do a factory reset and use short names.. not apple recommended names.
Short.. 2-20 characters .. less than 10 even better.
No spaces.
Pure alphanumeric.
Set fixed channels for 2.4ghz wireless.. test with 11, 6, 1 at least.
That often helps.. if not and is old, ie Gen1-4 go back to 7.6.1 firmware which is far more solid.
