ATA 186 with External Bogen Night Ringer

Using Call Manager, I am using an ATA with and External Bogen Night Ringer. It works when I call the ATA extension and the Speakers Ring out but when I call forward a ip phone to the ATA DN the speakers do not output anything. My goal is to call forward the main DN of the receptionist to the ATA hooked up to the Bogen TPU-100B paging unit that has the night ringer functionality. I thought it might be some sort of gateway issue but the call forward does not work from IP Phone Calling another IP Phone that is call forwarded to the ATA with the Night Ringer. Does anyone have any ideas.

I think the ring voltage is not suffecient enough from the FXO being passed to the ATA, I think I need to viking RG-10A to sit inline and boost increase power on the line. The Bogen requires 90V.

Configuring FAX on ATA 186 with CME 3.4

I have an ATA 186 connected to my network, I have configured CME for auto assign extensions & I got an extension as well, when I connect analog phone it works fine but when I connect FAX Machine I cannot send & recieve fax. Do I need to change any configurations in ATA???? Please check the screen shot attached

Ata 186 with Polycom MGC 100

I'm trying to setup an audio conference on a Polycom MGC100 with a Cisco Ata186. I can dial out to the Ata using the IP address and the Ata will answer but it disconnectes after 30 seconds. Has anyone else tried this and if so what were your results? Thanks.

I have the same problem as well with CM 6, however my calls last about 30 minutes then disconnect.
Has anyone found a solution?

Problem to register ATA 186 with CME 7.0

Hello,
I have to two ATA connected into switch that are connected with Cisco 2851.
The first ATA was connected in the past and it works well, now I need to connect another ATA but I don't be able to register in CME.
Both ATA have the same version of firmware, and got ip by the dhcp.
I've checked the ports in switch where are connected the ata's and have the same configuration.
To register the new ATA I go into CME portal and when I try to add a new phone I receive a message that say "no new phone to add".
Please help me to fix it

thanks for the answers.
I solved the new ATA was registred automaticaly in cme with a randon telephone number, for this reason I wasn't able to find it.
With the command show ephone register I checked all the phones registered with the number and I finded the new ata.

ATA 186 for FAX With CME

Hi,
I have ATA 186 connected to my network when i connect a phone it works but when I connected fax machine i cannot recieve or send faxes...do I need to do any configurations in ATA...please check the attachment..

you'll need dial peer(s), on your CME router, that enable FAX passthrough as well as a few other pieces.

ATA 186 - Faxing with sccp on CCME

Is there any specific config required to get a fax working with an ATA 186 with sccp, both in the ATA settings and ccme config ?

Troubleshooting an ATA 186

How can I tell what digits are being passed from a phone plugged into an ATA 186?
We have an ATA 186 with a credit card machine plugged into it that is failing to place calls. When I monitor the call with a butt set I hear dial tone, then 1 digit being dialed and then an error from callmanager basically telling me to check the number. The call never gets past that first digit. If I use a butt set to place a call everything works fine. I'm concerned the digit being passed is not the access code of 8, and I want to verify that. I have also included the 9001.log from the prsrev.exe I just don't know how to read it.

It look to me like the ATA isn't configured properly in CCM?
There's a lot of messages in the log stating "RegRej[1]:Error: DB Config", which I think means the device isn't registering properly.
Have you checked the ports are configured properly?

Will E&M work with the "Night Ring" interface on a Bogen?

The Bogen documentation states "The NIGHT RINGER feature can be activated from 90V ring signal or contact closure." Does an E&M interface support contact closure? And, has anyone implemented this solution successfully specifically with the Night Ringer feature? Many thanks in advanced!

Were you ever able to get this to work. I am trying to get an ATA to use the night ring with Bogen and it works internally but not when you call in from the outside. I tried a viking device that supposedly increases the voltage but with no luck??

ATA 186 needs assistance configuring to work with SIP

Hello. Just got ATA 186. I would like to use it as SIP FXS. I already have FXO with the POTS plugged in. I don't want o use the gateway or the gatekeeper. I would like to configure it to be IP dialing. II am running SIP image ATA030201SIP050616A.zup. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Follow the part that mentions setting the SID0 & SID1 to "." no quotes. I did this and my ATA registered to CM. Screen caps attached.
I have a Cisco ATA 186 running on 10.5.1 and it shows to be registered. I can make calls on it. Not sure how it will do for faxes. HTH Please rate.

Remote-Party-ID with ATA 186

The remote-party-id field in my invite message to an ATA 186 does not appear to be tranlating properly to caller-id. Does the ATA support Remote-Party-ID? If so, do I have to modify any settings? Currently, the from address is showing up in the caller-id screen of a phone connected to the ATA.

IPCC "night ring"

I've got an IPCCX enhanced install with some custom auto attendant scripts running. On one particular app, phone contacts are accepted and put into a queue for agents to answer. I have business hours and days put in place and some error handling for agents logged in or out, however they still want a mechanism for manually forwarding all calls from the standard script and redirect it to a particular directory number. Latest example of this was a Christmas party where they wanted the agents to attend and calls routed to security. This is very similar to a old "night ring" function. My question is what would be the best way to accomplish this? I've been thinking of a DB read of a single row table (either on or off) with a IF statement. Also considered a file read but I haven't been able to get that one working as well. Has anyone done something similar or have any ideas of the best way to do this?

i will give simple example but this will require someone to login to the CRS Admin and update the application ( simple check boxes only)
as i mentioned this way very simple ( there are a lot of other ways to do it ):
create a bolean variable in the beging lets called holiday1 ( make it parameter as well )
make a variable of type string called EXT( parameter as well )
add if in the begging of your script wherever suitable for your call flow to check if the holiday1 is true of false
lets say if true make a sub step to redirect the call and the destination chose the variable created above ( EXT)
now if you updae the application associated with this script you will see the boolean variable with default value false and the EXT box as will
in this case if someone make this bolean from the Web adman to true and put and internal/external extension the call will forwarded to that number

ATA 186 - HP FAX Accessory 300

We have an ATA 186 which we want to connect to our MFD. When we connect the device to the MFD and ring the port the MFD will not answer the call. If we connect to a VG224 the MFD detects ring ok and answers the call. If we plug a POT into the ATA the phone rings ok so we know there is an issue between the ring voltage of the ATA 40v and what the HP MDF is expecting. The MFD is a Q7519A but I can't find any info on the ring voltage required. Any Suggestions?

This is my suggestion:
- check if the telephony cable has only 1 couple of wire (tip and ring only); in the past I had some problems with cable with 4 wire (2 couple); the ATA had a strange behavior;
- try to connect an analog telephone to the ATA186 and verify if it works;
- if the problem persists probably the ATA has an hardware fault;
- try with a different ATA;

Issue on Cisco ATA 186 used for Fax

Hello everyone;
I have a cisco ATA 186 connected to an analog Fax on one side, and the other side is connected to the network containing a CUCM 8.6.
The problem is that when i try to send a fax throught it , half of the paper is transmitted or an usual occupation tone comes; while vocal communications are performed normaly.
Any idea of what could be the problem.
NB: the fax emission is between two distant sites relied by optical fiber.

Here below more informations about the issue:
- It does work sometimes, but it did never worked properly.
- the problem is there for both sending and receiving.
- for the PSTN transport, i have no idea.
- I tried to change the ATA by another, still the same problem.
- ATAs work properly for voice communication.
- when i call this fax number internally the signal comes along.
- the problem is when faxing internally, it isn't used for external faxing.
- the call flow for internal faxing is like this:
Analog fax (in site A) > ATA (in site A) > access switch (in site A) > core switch (in site A) > cucm (in site A) > Core switch (in site A) > router (in site A) > optical fiber > router (in site B) > core switch (in site B) > cucm (in site B) > core switch (in site B) > voice gateway 248 (in site B) > Analog fax (in site B).
the problem occures when sending internal fax between these two sites A and B, when calling site B from site A, the ringing tone comes aloso the fax signal, but when i try the send the paper the stange tone come along and only half of it pass and it get to the site B as a blank paper or a half blank paper.
for any more explanation, don't hesitate to ask me.
