ATA-187 Disable / Prevent Speed Dials

Hi all,
I'm working with a customer that used a (star) * in there dialplan.
The issue has risen now that they have purchased quite a few ATA-187 for remote locations for analogue phones, because the (star) * is interpreted by the ATA as a local speed dial number rather than pushing the full number the call never gets to CUCM (8.5).
Any ideas or suggestions would be great,
Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrel,
The ATA-186s where great.. Ok they had a lot of problems with faxes but they are better than the ATA-187.
The section below is from the Cisco document.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cata/186_188/3_0/english/administration/guide/sccp/user.html#wp1017166
Change Your Pre-Call Service Access Code
You can use the default asterisk key (*) or the pound key (#) as the first digit in your pre-call service access code. To change this setting, use Bit 25 of the ConnectMode parameter (see the "ConnectMode" section on page 5-21).
If you download the complete guide it's on page 158 (or A2).
You can change the "pre-call service access codes" e.g. change the *1 for #1 in the speed dials.
Regards,
Mike.

It is possible T38 isn't playing well with the PRI.  You could try modem pass-through on the gateway and ATA187 if T38 isn't necessary.
Also, sometimes these commands are needed, but not always, so I would consider whether these fax commands under the dial-peer are necessary:
    fax-relay ecm disable
     fax-relay sg3-to-g3
     fax nsf 000000

  • Am using windows 7 and upon installing firefox 4 i installed speeddial extension and it was working fine but after 2 days speed dial no longer appears why is that?

upon downloading firefox I added speed dial . It was working fine for a couple of days but yesterday when I opened up firefox which I made as a default browser because of the speed dial it no longer appears even though it is still appearing as one of the extensions and is enabled

    Hello Steve.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
If you detect a faulty add-on, you should contact its author for support. You can also search for alternatives. Site filters are relatively common in the add-ons gallery: [http://addons.mozilla.org addons.mozilla.org].

  • Why do my Speed Dial thumbnails randomly change places?

From time to time, thumbnails in my Speed Dial groups switch positions. It only happens occasionally and only to some thumbs, whilst the others remain unchanged. Why is this and how can I stop it?
It happened on earlier Firefox versions and on both Mac and Windows OS's.

    Hi,
You can try to [http://speeddial.uworks.net/manual.html adjust the settings]. You can also try to '''Disable''' possible conflicting '''Extensions''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons'''. Alternatively you can try [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/speed-dial/?src=search installing Speed Dial] in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile] to check.

  • Dialling from 7960 - speed dial works, manual dial fails

Hi, i've got an issue on a dialling a particular number from 7960 phones. When i dial a speed dial setup with the number 9121000 i hit the correct route pattern and the the 9 is stripped and an external call is placed to 121000 through my gateway.
if i dial 9121000 manually the call fails, and the 7960 display looks like its attempting to the 4 digit internal number 1210
I can't work out why this would work differently through speed dial and manual dial - any ideas?
thanks in advance for any hints

This is because you have overlapping pattern i.e. TP or RP, DN extension, etc with urgent priority set on it.  Locate it and disable urgent priority.

  • Bluetooth and Speed Dial Issue

I just got a new 8830, and have updated to latest software - 4.5.0.77, and am having two problems I can't find answers for.
Bluetooth - I enable Bluetooth;  it works fine.  After I power down and up again, the Bluetooth is disabled and has to be enabled again.  Why does it not just stay enabled?
When the phone is locked (enterprise server), I can't use the speed dials, even though I have the phone set to Allow Calls when Locked.  I can make calls, but not use speed dial.
My old 7130e allowed did not these things.  Are there ways to fix these?
    TIA...
    Peter

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Are any of your contacts assigned to the Z or B keys? If so, try reprogramming those contacts temporarily to another key. Also, have you tried un-assigning a speed dial and then re-assigning it to see if the speed dial comes back?
    Hope this helps,

  • SPEED DIAL and OPENING Firefox

Why is that every time I open Firefox I do not have all my SPEED DIAL sites that I created? Also, Firefox will not open when I click on it to open; it just flashes the page like it is trying to open, I have to disconnect from the network provider and then Firefox opens. What is going on with this new Firefox? I want to downgrade to the previous version; no problems with that version.

Regarding your Speed Dial list, I'm guessing that was created using an add-on. Can you check to see whether it was disabled because it wasn't compatible with Firefox 4:
    Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
If there's no update and you can't live without it, sure, you can reinstall 3.6.16. First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4, and uninstall it. Do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Then finally you can reinstall Firefox 3.6. Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, it should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this downgrade myself!

  • Unable to fax between two ATA 187 attached fax machines

I have two fax machines attached to the VOIP network using ATA 187's using the T38 fax relay.  I am unable to send faxes between the two devices.  Has anybody experienced this issue and if so what did you do to resolve the issue.  Tried fax passthrough with no luck.  Also set the dial peer on the voice gateway to use the T38 fax protocol.  Thanks for any info.

Looks like I just answered my own question.  Since both of these devices are on the internal VOIP network, 4 digit dialing between devices worked.  I am able to send between the two ATA attached fax machines.  Originally I was trying to go outside, using 9xxxxxxx, which did not work.

  • Super g3 fax using an ATA 187

I can't get this working. I thought at first it was a sip provider issue but switched over to a pri with same result. I can get inbound faxes but cannot get outbound to work. I have tried almost everything I can think os  s3-to-g3, fax rate disable, ecm disable of the dial peers setting the rate to 9600 on the ata all with no success.  thx

  • Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 call transfer issue

    Hello,
I am currently having issues configuring Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 DECT phones. I need to make the call transfer work. I have tested the ATA with another box standard analogue phones where when we press the Recall button we get a 2nd dial tone and then can transfer the call.
there is an R button on the BT 6250 but it doesnt give a secondary dial tone.
just wondering will there be some secret key combination for that!!
I don't see a lot of setting in the ATA for it.
any help will be very appreciated.
    Thanks
    A

The easiest way would be to create a route pattern in CUCM that does not include the 9, and then adds it in prior to sending it to the gateway. This way you won't have to create another dial-peer in the gateway. I would also recommend putting the new pattern(s) in a partition that is only searched by the ATA/credit card machine's CSS.
If they are able to dial both 7 and 10 digit numbers, you will need route patterns for each:
         example: [2-9]xxxxxx & 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx
then under 'Called Party Transformations' prepend a 9

  • Can you speed dial with iPhone?

Is it possible to speed dial from iPhone 4s?

There should be a speed dial pad on the lock screen so you can touch one icon and be calling immediately
It's called a "lock screen" for a reason - functions are locked so they don't get accidentally activated when picking up the phone or touching it in a bag or pocket. Or to prevent a thief from running up a nice big phone bill for you.

  • ATA 187 no good for PLAR

I have an ATA 186 which I've configured as a PLAR phone, using this method:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_configuration_example09186a0080232b9f.shtml
It works a treat, someone picks up the analog phone connected to the ATA and it uses a translation pattern to autodial a certain number which is forwarded to voicemail and the person on the phone hears a pleasant message telling them something.
However, business needs made me use this ATA for other uses and it was eventually replaced with an ATA 187, I configured it in exactly the same way, however the PLAR feature didn't work. I could manually dial the recipient number, but the translation pattern didn't kick in.
Could it be related to the 187 using SIP as opposed to the 186 using SCCP?
I'm not impressed with the 187. It looks good, but doesn't even draw PoE

  • Recommended CM System Speed Dials: Translations Patterns vs. DNs

Using Call Manager 8.6, I've successfully tested System Speed Dialing through using both Translation Patterns and as Directory Numbers (using the Call Forward Destination field).  Since using Translation Patterns DOES NOT allow for a alpha display name to the user dialing the speed dial, I tested the DN approach.  This offered about 1-2 seconds of a display on the phone so the user could get a confirmation that they dialed the speed dial they desired.  Is there any reason to not use DNs as system speed dials?  Do they use up resources in some way that Translation Patterns do not?  I'm just wondering if there is a compelling reason to not use the DN approach.  Otherwise, I think this will be customer's avenue to using system speed dials as it provides that 1-2 second of alpha display of the speed dials name.  Thank you.  Dan

No, they do not use any more resources. The only reason I am hesitant of using them is that unassigned DNs can be accidentally purged out by unaware administrator, as one can simply find unassigned DNs thinking those are old discarded ones and click to delete them.  If you have a process in place that prevents this there is absolutely no down side.
