ATA 190 with FAX

Hello,
I have a fax (Brother FAX-2920) connected to an ATA 190 and I cannot send or receive fax.
My CUCM is connected to the PSTN gateway with a SIP trunk.
FAX==>ATA190==SIP==>CUCM==SIP==>2911PSTN-GW==>E1
What I have done so far:
-Reduced the baud rate to the minumum on the fax machine
-Enabled the option Fax Error Correction Mode Override on the ATA port
-Collected some traces with RTMT. The debugs show that the CUCM does not received all the digits dialed from the fax machine. For example, if I dialed the number 00123456789 from the fax machine, on the traces I see that the number 001345789 is dialed or 0012345678 and so on...
Could you please help me with this issue? I'm running out of idea.

Have you set the fax parameters correctly in CCMAdmin? They default to T.38 fax relay.

Configure Fax Detection Method on the Cisco ATA 186
Use a web browser and go to http:///dev (for example, http://172.16.104.117/dev) in order to configure the Cisco ATA 186 using the web interface.
You must configure these parameters in order to configure the Cisco ATA 186.
Audio Mode
bit 2 (18)=0 Enable detection of FAX CED (answer) tone and switch to FAX mode for the rest of the call if the tone is detected.

ATA 186 for FAX With CME

Hi,
I have ATA 186 connected to my network when i connect a phone it works but when I connected fax machine i cannot recieve or send faxes...do I need to do any configurations in ATA...please check the attachment..

you'll need dial peer(s), on your CME router, that enable FAX passthrough as well as a few other pieces.

I HAVE INSTALLED DEVICE PACK AND RESTARTED BOTH SERVER,STILL THE NETWORK LED BLIKS FAST AND NO REGISTERING ,I TRIED MANUEL TOO ITS NOT SHOWING REGISTERED.
TFTP SHOWS ALL FILES AVAILABLE.

Symptom:
ATA190 will not use the TFTP server IP address provided by the DHCP server via the option 150 parameter.
ATA will not know which TFTP server to query in order to download its configuration and eventually register to CUCM
Conditions:
ATA 190 with 1.1.0(004) firmware or earlier
Workaround:
There are two workarounds,
1. Define option 15, domain name, on the DHCP server.
2. Configure TFTP server address manually via IVR or webGUI
For IVR, hit ####
Enter password, default is 24726
Enter option 221 to configure TFTP server IP address
For webGUI, go to the webpage
Login as admin,
username admin
password admin
Go to Voice >> Provisioning

ATA 190 registration state failed

Hello,
I fail to register ATA 190 on the CUCM (9.1.2).
I created the ATA 190 object on the CUCM, assigned it a line and everything.
When I use the ATA voice command using an analog phone I see it gets a DHCP IP address and gets the TFTP servers IP addresses from the DHCP server. When I log on the ATA, I can see into the "Quick Setup" page that
the lines 1 & 2 are enabled,
the Proxy is the IP address of my CUCM subscriber,
the Display Name of the line is the one I setup on the CUCM for that ATA 190 line 1 DN,
the User Number is set to the DN I setup on the CUCM for the ATA 190 line 1
So it looks like the ATA is talking to the CUCM as it gets all the line info from it.
But when I go in the CUCM the ATA line 1 & 2 still shows as unknown despite I have an analog phone conencted to the line 1 port of the ATA 190. But on that same device page on the CUCM, the Device shows both Active and Trusted.
On the ATA 190:
in Voice > Information > Line 1 status, the field Registration State shows "Failed"
I tried to go in Administration > Log but all options are greyed out despite I am logged as an admin.

Thanks for your answer. About your proposal "It seems that the ATA190 has some issues with DNS Hostnames vor CUCM. Try to change your Servernames in the CUCM Gui to the equivalent IP Addresses."
I have to say I don't quite understand. The TFTP servers are given by DHCP as IP addresses and on the ATA itself, nowhere I can see a FQDN. It always shows the Subscribers IP addresses.
Plus as you mention about the CUCM GUI, in System > Servers, all our CUCM servers are listed as IP addresses already. Not with FQDNs.

Problem with fax t38 protocol

i have an mpls nework with equipment cisco 2821, 2901 and 2801, and i have problems with fax calls, i configured the fax protocol t38 in all routers but when i want to send a fax to the 2821 equipment from either 2801 and 2901, the protocol t38 is not working and the fax call use cisco protocol (although t38 is configured in all routers). the calls betwen 2801 and 2901 works ok, and from 2821 to 2801/2901 works ok too.
any idea of whats happens? do you think is a problem of ios version?

New ATA channel with an exclamation point appear in the device manager at each start (when no new device has been installed)

My desktop, (Win7 64, AMD cpu/ Gigabyte mother board) , started to generate strange problems such as my laser usb printer not reachable even after disinstal/reinstall.
I took a look in the device manager, and found 2 ATA channel with an exclamation point, "drivers not found'. I also found a USB universal controller with the same exclamation point and the same error.
I changed nothing in terms of Bios since the machine was built (AHCI, Raid not active). The main drive is a SSD on primary SATA port, classic drive on the second port.
I deleted the 3 items, the printer started to work again. They reappeared after the next reboot.
Weird thing: it looks like the problems appeared after connecting/disconnecting a Nikon camera to one of the usb port (identified as a mass storage device).
I ran multiple scans (root) in case a virus would have generated the problem, negative.
Last point (can't tell if it's related or not), my browsers started crashing randomly.

i use windows 7 64bit and downloaded the latest drivers!i can send fax,print,scan manually from my fax.I can print,scan from pc but i cant send fax!i use send fax wizard,then i check it and all is fine!i open send fax program from hp i put a document,a number then i press send fax,..while it tries to add it on the queqe of printer for some strange reason it is cancelled!I use usb cable for connection on my machine!also while i try to send fax via pc no dial sound or vision!

I am Sorry I was unclear -- You only need a phone cable other than your usual phone cable if it says so in the instructions. I did not read all the instructions for your Fax setup. That is for you to do. Smiling.
Some printers come with instructions and the special phone cable that must be used with the Fax installation. My printer does say this and did come with a special cable. Other printers may do the same. If your printer / fax instructions do not say anything about this, then your might just ignore what I said.
You might be able to get it to work by just starting all over and doing it more than one time. I have been told by people that have had problems with Fax that sometimes just the act of going through the setup more than once seems to help.
You may have to install your printer's software again if you have not done so recently.
You may need to restart everything, including the router for your home network -- this can be a "sticking" point when you are setting up something new.
You could try a different phone line -- or a different phone cable.
I am not an expert on this and it does appear from the instructions that the Guide was written when XP was the primary OS -- I suppose it is possible that there could be issues with connecting this to Windows 7.

Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 call transfer issue

Hello,
I am currently having issues configuring Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 DECT phones. I need to make the call transfer work. I have tested the ATA with another box standard analogue phones where when we press the Recall button we get a 2nd dial tone and then can transfer the call.
there is an R button on the BT 6250 but it doesnt give a secondary dial tone.
just wondering will there be some secret key combination for that!!
I don't see a lot of setting in the ATA for it.
any help will be very appreciated.

The easiest way would be to create a route pattern in CUCM that does not include the 9, and then adds it in prior to sending it to the gateway. This way you won't have to create another dial-peer in the gateway. I would also recommend putting the new pattern(s) in a partition that is only searched by the ATA/credit card machine's CSS.
If they are able to dial both 7 and 10 digit numbers, you will need route patterns for each:
example: [2-9]xxxxxx & 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx
then under 'Called Party Transformations' prepend a 9

Replacing a Serial ATA Drive with a SSD HD

Does anyone know if its difficult to replace a Serial ATA Drive with a SSD? And if possible and not difficult, which specs should this SSD have?

if you buy your SSD as a kit, it comes with sata to usb connector.
if you buy your SSD as a bare drive then go out and buy an usb external enclosure.
Before you install your new drive, turn your computer on with your old drive, hook up your new drive via external enclosure to your usb port.
Launch Disk Utility, erase/format your new drive with MAC OS Extended Journaled.
Open Carbon Copy ( free download if you don't have it) and start to clone your drive, a pop up will come up saying you haven't created a recovery partition, follow the instructions in Carbon Copy then proceed to clone your drive after.
Once that's done, open the back of your MB, take out the old drive, install your new ssd, then turn it on. You're back in business.
As for your old drive, put it in the external enclosure and use it as a back up drive.

I bought an epson xp650 a couple of months ago and cannot fault it. It does everything I require and it is the wifi model so I can print directly from my ipad/iphone. Not sure if you are asking about the colour of the unit or just to be able to print black and white, Obviously all printers will print black and white but just to give you a little more info the printer I bought is the white version and it looks really nice sat next to my imac 27''

Configuring FAX on ATA 186 with CME 3.4

Hi,
I have an ATA 186 connected to my network, I have configured CME for auto assign extensions & I got an extension as well, when I connect analog phone it works fine but when I connect FAX Machine I cannot send & recieve fax. Do I need to change any configurations in ATA???? Please check the screen shot attached

Unable to fax between two ATA 187 attached fax machines

I have two fax machines attached to the VOIP network using ATA 187's using the T38 fax relay. I am unable to send faxes between the two devices. Has anybody experienced this issue and if so what did you do to resolve the issue. Tried fax passthrough with no luck. Also set the dial peer on the voice gateway to use the T38 fax protocol. Thanks for any info.

Looks like I just answered my own question. Since both of these devices are on the internal VOIP network, 4 digit dialing between devices worked. I am able to send between the two ATA attached fax machines. Originally I was trying to go outside, using 9xxxxxxx, which did not work.
