ATG (v11.1) exports for Endeca and sku links

Hi,
We are trying to integrate an ATG catalog to Endeca and are trying to figure some things out conceptually first.
As the subject line mentions, we are using sku links in our ATG catalog. From what I understand, when exporting records at a sku level, if my record has sku links, the exported record will contain all of the child skus and details.
However, on the exported record for the child sku, it will not contain any information about the parent skus that it belongs to, is this correct?
Is there a way to have the exported child sku record contain information about all of its parent skus? Originally thinking of creating a variant producer on the sku link so to have separate individual records for each child sku.
Then either during ingestion using CAS or at query time using the presentation API, aggregate the records based on the child sku to get all of the parent information into a single child sku record.
Has anyone had any experience with this or can help me validate this approach?

So the various Endeca modules were moved between 10.0.3 (where they were shipped with CRS with module names that began with "Endeca", like "Endeca.Index", "Endeca) and 10.1.1 and later (where they were moved to their more permanent homes, like DAF.Endeca.Index, DCS.Endeca.Index, etc).

CRS in 10.1.2 and later depends upon the Endeca and the ATG Endeca integration modules, and CIM should pull in the needed ATG modules automatically for CRS.

Export for PDF and items disapear from the page...

Hello Big Masters,
please give me a solution to the fact that:
I lose some items (a text box and a graphic) at the export from Indesign to PDF.
-The file is 6 pages long. Simple. Some text and small pictures.
-The missing items are close to the right bottom of the page. It is allways on the same page. In my case on the last page.
-The missing item is exactly the same like some others. (it is like an object I could put on master page, but I wanted only to COPY/ PASTE IN PLACE)
-I tried countless solutions, but no one passed successfully. I tried to ungroup/regroup (it is an object made of letters and outlined letters), I tried to outline all of the object, I tried recopy the object, I tried to put the page in a different order (thinking that the bug always came on the last page), I closed down indesign, I tried different PDF quality options, I tried renaming and overwriting, I checked all the layers (they are all printable). NOTHING worked.
I start worring about the quality of Indesign, that I thought being the perfect software for multipage layouts, but I experienced this bug that wasted me 2 hours. In the researches for solutions I also found out that more problems are ahead in big ePubs or when you bring old big files, with Masterpages, it seems that is a real mess what comes out.
Do you experience these troubles with Bermuda-effect in Indesign (dissapearing items surprisingly unexpected...)???

But Still didn't get the bug solved.
The first pic as you see, is from ID before I export to PDF
and the last image is the crazy pdf file, I am getting.
If the adobe guys need my file for investigation, I can send it to them somehow.
But then again, I got a compromise solution by putting the "missing" object on a separate masterpage.

Firefox 4 will not open thunderbird for mailto and Send links

I am using Windows 7 business.
Since update FF4 will not open Thunderbird when a mailto link or send link is clicked. My system has Thunderbird selected as the default mail client and these links work in other browsers.
Following some online help suggestions about selecting Firefox's default mail client:

There are no options for 'mailto' or 'mail' in the content type window.

I've suffered with this for weeks and finally worked around it.
Thunderbird was set as the default client, but it didn't work with some other clients as well, so I went to Default Programs / Set Default Programs, selected Thunderbird, which was already set as the default mail client, selected 'Choose defaults for this program' and hit Save. That fixed it for PDF Complete, but not for FF4.
In FF4, I changed the mailto option to Always Ask (it had been Thunderbird(default)), then chose Thunderbird as the client after picking Send Link. that worked, so the next time I checked the box in the dialog to always use Thunderbird and now it works. grrr.

Enable for Commenting and Create Links from URL (JS, Acrobat Pro)

I need to change a PDF's settings to Enable for Commenting and Annotation and then Create Links from the document's URLs. I can do it manually, but I don't see where these properties can be adjusted with Javascript.

I cannot activate the colour change for "Visited" and "Unvisited" links

I've been to Firefox "Tools" and specified the colors for "Visited" and "Unvisited" sites but it doesn't happen. What am I doing wrong?

* Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the Browsing History.
* Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
* Make sure that you do not start Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
* To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"

You have to Customize the viewmessages.xml file. The original file path for English Language is
oraclebi\web\msgdb\l_en\messages\viewmessages.xml.

OMF export for Pyramix and ProTools not working correctly

I am exporting OMF files of very simple timelines (30 second promos) for an audio guy based in another part of the country to do audio post.
He is using Pyramix 7.1.10 and ProTools 9.1, while I'm outputting from Premiere 6.0.1
The problem is that when he imports the .OMF (which is exported 24bit, trimmed audio, encapsulated files), one leg of the music track is always missing
This happens the same in both ProTools and Pyramix
Has anyone else had this happen? Am I missing something? Is there a workaround?

I am a post audio mixer working in ProTools, and I have the same issue, just a little more complicated.
The editors I work with handle a variety of projects, most of which use sound shot with EFP cameras. The audio recorded on these cameras is "stereo" in the sense that there are indeed 2 tracks as a single interleaved file, however, the content is dual mono, with the 2 tracks either being 2 lav mics, or a lav and the camera mic.
Is there any way in Premiere that this can be put onto 2 mono tracks, that are then exported as mono tracks, rather than being doubled up in the ProTools session? Adaptive tracks don't seem to work in this situation. The editors have tried a variety of things, none of which seem to make a difference.
Also, regarding stereo music ... that too has been exported to me as a mono file, even though it was supposedly put onto a stereo track in Premiere.

Using imovie 10.0 - No export for Quicktime and no export setting options

I am working with imovie 10.0 on Mavericks 10.9.2 and I am trying to export my video for better qualities then just using the share button and choosing file.
It seems the export to quick time is not there anymore and I want to make sure I get the best quality possible.
Any help with this?

I'm in the middle of importing family home videos from VHS. It used to be awesome and I could export the exact file I was hoping to upload to a shared media server. Now my 480X640 Videos have black bars on the sides and I can change the proportions of my project! A 26min video at standard def resolution with 480X640 source video is a whopping 2.6Gigs!! These won't even stream from my beefy synology media server on a 30MBS UPLOAD because the buffering keeps pausing these massive files. I have 2 hour movies in 1080p that buffer faster than this 26 min SD VHS video!
C'mon Apple, simplify but lets us dive in and find our original workflow so we can continue to use your products how we have been.

Any hope for headset and D-Link DWB-120M?

Here I am again, getting left behind while technology advances without me.
I've got a D-Link DWB-120M bluetooth adaptor which used to work fine with my iBook. But I bought a jabra headset yesterday, hoping to use it with Skype. Following instructions on these boards, I tried to update the btooth firmware, but it wouldn't do it, didn't seem to recognise the adaptor at all. Then I tried pairing the headset with the iBook anyway, but "headsets not recognised", or something like that.
So, is there any chance of updating my bluetooth system, whether on the adaptor (which d-link have now stopped doing tech support for) or by downloading some other update? Or do I have to give in and buy another adaptor, since the DBT-120 is the only one that seems to work?

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
Install it
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the installed updater yourself (do not ask me why).

Need a how to on a special case for views and view links

I have a typical many-to-many relationship model I'm working on.
Basically, it looks like this:
User 1 -------------< * UserGroupXref *>--------------- 1 Groups
You see this in authentication modules all the time. A user can belong to multiple groups and group can contain multiple users.
My task is to use Business Components to create a form that manages user accounts. This form will consist of a User View (master) and 2 detail views.
The first detail view is a list of groups already assigned to the user. I've already defined a viewlink for this first group and it displays its many-to-many results ok.
The second detail view is a list of groups that are available to be assigned to the user. I was thinking that this detail view should be the product of a MINUS operation driven by a BIND VARIABLE. Being a query based view, I think its query would look something like this:
select group_id, group_short_name, group_long_name
from groups
minus
select xref.group_id group_id , group_short_name, group_long_name
from usergroupxref xref, groups
where xref.user_id = :bind_uid
and groups.group_id = xref.group_id
This introduces a bind variable which raises two questions:
1) Is there a better approach
2) How do you use a friggin bind variable?
Seriously, I noticed that the designer will not let you define a relationship based on a bind variable, which leads me to conclude that you have to pass the value at runtime from whatever client app you're using (SWING, JSF, etc). I really haven't found an example of using bind variables that suites me! Maybe someone can point me in the right direction ...?
Finally I have to add control buttons :
Add Group
Add All
Remove All
Remove Group
Naturally these buttons control the inserts and deletes from the xref table. Does this introduce another updateable view into the app or is it something that the framework somehow handles via the defined associations and what not?
I don't expect anyone to design the form for me, but maybe you can help me at least finish up these view links.

How do I remove the Facebook Exporter for iPhoto?

I have recently installed v1.0.8 of Facebook Exporter for iPhoto, and it hangs on the first picture I attempt to upload. It is unusable. I had found the previous version 1.0.6 which worked great and downloaded that, and subsequently attempted to install it. However, the installer errors out stating that there is already a previous version installed. The v1.0.6 and v1.0.8 installers, do not have an uninstall feature either. Direct support for this package is impossible from the developer.
I'm asking if anyone could lay out exactly what I need to remove in order that I can proceed with downgrading to the v1.0.6 once again. I have asked in other forums(not here) and have had only "upgrade all your software to the latest versions and everything should work" answers, which were and are completely useless. If an upgrade is required of something, please be specific as to why.
Note that, I have already performed this function as outlined here, http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=222897111055523, which simply describes deleting a folder in their install directory. This has not worked, meaning the removal has worked, however reinstalling the previous version envokes the error about a later version.
Versions involved;

Export for actionscript - Not in first frame

Just a simple question.
Don't need to know if it works or not I have tested it. What
I want is to understand. Here it is:
If I use the Export for actionscript and I unselect the
Export in first frame, the item that will be linked by the ID in
the library must appear on the timeline. Normally it must be on a
frame that has played. IE frame 3 the item is there so I can use it
from the frame 3 to the last frame. This is how it works for the
_root. If I'm in a clip, the code can be on the first frame with a
stop. That means that the Item is on the second frame and has not
displayed, but it is accessible by the code.
Why?
Why on the root the item must appear on the frame where the
code is or before the code, but if in a clip, the code can works
even the item reside on a later frame that will never display
because there is a stop on the first one?

I think that this is probably because of how flash streams
content. In order for flash to play frame 2 on the timeline, it
COMPLETELY loads all the code and assets for that frame (but not
frame 3) and then 'plays' that frame. Therefore on the main
timeline, code on frame 2 can't access exported clips from frame 3.
However, if your movie clip is (for example) on frame 4,
flash will stream/load everything (including your complete move
clip) when the play head reaches that frame, so all assets within
that frame are available because in order to even 'play' frame 4,
flash has had to load the entire movie clip contents.

Facebook exporter for iPhoto 11 problem!

I previously had installed the Facebook exporter for iPhoto and it worked fine. It always showed up as a tab in File Export. Now with Iphoto 11 the tab for facebook has disappeared. I went to the download page for it again to reinstall it and when I go through the installation process and it asks where to install I have the exclamation mark on my Mac hard drive with the following error. "Facebook exporter for iPhoto can't be installed on this disk. A newer version of this software already exists on this disk.
I went to plugins and removed it yet I still get this error on reinstallation. Why won't the exporter work anymore or install?
I like this much better than the built in one on iPhoto as it lets me caption each photo before I upload.

I found the problem
It seems the version of facebook exporter found on the applesite is an older one.
I downloaded a newer version on versiontracker and that fixed it.

FCP quicktime "iphone "export diff then quicktime "export for iphone web"??

so what i dont get, is when i export out of quicktime using "export for web" and i choose the "iphone" 900 kbit option, i get 480X270 beautiful true widescreen clips. But when I export using quicktime conversion in final cut pro 6 and i choose" iphone"....i get 480X360. Why does this happen? I want true widescreen, just like everything i get from itunes.....not this 360 size (which i know is the phones screen res, but who cares)?

Earlybird is exporting H264 ... the Key Frames setting is determining the GOP length. This value should really be determined based on the complexity of the video, to my understanding, the actual frame rate has no bearing on it. If you have very complex fast moving content then a low Key Frame rate is advisable to ensure good image quality (although it will adversely affect the filesize) whereas if you have slow moving or static content (like an interview subject) then a higher Key Frame rate will still produce a good image but at a smaler filesize. The default of 24 should be pretty much fine as a catchall starting point.
Earlybird
Corrupted render files (and render references) can be a pain because FCP will use those files and references in place of the original media when building the export. And so it should as it does't want to waste time re-rendering sections that are apparently already rendered. Unfortuantely, as noted, if the render file has gone bad and/or starts referencing the wrong media then you'll get these wierd flashes of completely unexpeced and unwanted footage showing up where it shouldn't be. When you trash those files then QT / FCP will just go back and re-reference the original media ... so it's usually a worthwhile step to take just in case thats the problem. The worse case scenario is that it only that doesn't work and you spend some time unecessarily re-rendering.
As to why these files go bad? That I don't know. Why do Preferences get corrupted? That I don't know either but it definitely happens :-(
