Atheros WiFi drivers Windows 8.1 (64bit)

I am using a MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 mainboard. Worked fine with Windows 8. After the update to Windows 8.1 My Atheros 9271 WiFi does not work.
Is there an update for the drivers?
When i check the driver version it seems that Windows uses the XP driver version 7.7.0.104 and is not using the Windows8 driver.
Uninstall and reinstall does not work.

Hey mate, just managed to fix this exact issue. Here is my post: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=173231.0
Here is the fix post:
Issue Resolved
For anyone experiencing issues with the AR9271 Wifi Module from Atheros Qualcomm (MSi Z77 MPOWER, FM2 A75IA E53), you need to cite this post and download a beta driver.

Just got this from MSI, let me know how it works.

**I attached the file as well, I'm not sure if you can download from the link above. Out of curiosity, let me know if you can.

I made an account to post this for "MrNgocHoang." I'm an avid user on other forums, Tom's, OCN, [H], etc.
I recently snagged a Z77 MPower and ran into the same wireless drivers issue. The driver package they (MSI) have listed for Windows 8-64 will work. But here is what you have to do.
1. Control Panel > Unistall a Program > Atheros Client (uninstall this)
2. Device Manager > Network Adapters > Atheros AR9271 (right click, uninstall and delete drivers)
3. Device Manager > Unknown Devices > Wireless Adapter (AR92) (right click, install drivers, browse to the download's file path, install, SUCCESS!)
In device manager, scan for hardware changes and you should get an unknown USB/Other Device Entry 'UB91' or some other unexplained entry which will be your WiFi module.
Right click, update driver, locate driver wherever you downloaded it, navigate to x86 (32 bit) or x64 depending on your OS. And you should have it fixed.
Take in mind i tried other fixes which may have also helped me out. It's all detailed in the thread.

  • S205 Windows 8.1 64Bit - no Wifi

    Hello there,
On my S 205 I recently upgradet from Windows 8 64bit to 8.1 64bit. Now my wifi doesn't seem to work anymore. The wifi switch in the network settings is greyed out and the "hardware switch" on the right side of the laptop only seems to enable bluetooth. I tried to install the win8 drives, but it crashed my OS and i had to do a system restore.
So since there dont seem to be any win 8.1 drivers on the offical site,  anyone has an idea to get wifi working again?
I dont have Power Management installed.
    Thank you

  • T60p Windows 7 (x64) Atheros WiFi driver issue

    Hello,
The new Windows 7 supported Access Connections driver support matrix says the Microsoft provided Atheros driver is the one to use with Windows 7.  However, I can't get this driver to connect on a T60p.  I tried with two access points (Linksys and Apple) with security all the way off and all the way up through WPA2-Personal (AES).  No dice.
This is on a system that used to work just fine under XP (x86) and the lenovo provided wireless driver.
So I then tried the Lenovo provided Vista X64 Wifi drivers under Windows 7 and the WIFI seemed to work fine except for a resume issue (see below).
I verified this state of affairs on two separate T60ps.
    Question(s):
    1) Am I losing out on anything by using the Vista x64 drivers under Windows 7?
    2) Does Lenovo know about this issue?
The reason I believe this is not an optimal state of affairs is that I had an issue when I resumed from sleep or hibernation.  The wireless network would not reconnect.  After a reboot, it would connect just fine.  I trolled around the net and found a solution to this where you put the minimum CPU speed to 100% under advanced power management in the control panel.  After that the Vista driver does fine when resuming.  But this makes me feel like I'm burning battery for no good reason other than to prevent an issue for when I resume from sleep/hibernation.
    Any ideas?

Go into Device Manager and check the The Power Management Properties of the Atheros Network Adapter. Look to see if the adapter is powered off during sleep. You might try keeping it on and then see if you can lower the other power settings.

I have a new notebook with Windows 8.1  64bit  and a LaserJet M1120 MFP multifunctional. For printing is OK, it found plug and play driver and I am able to print. For scanning, I couldnt find drivers. Please help! Thanks...

    Hello Gabitza,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to find a scanning driver for the Laserjet M1120 MFP. I will do my best to assist you! There isn't a full feature software available, just a plug and play driver. As a workaround, you can use another program to scan a document.
Please follow this HP document on How to Scan: Windows 8. Click on how to scan without HP software and there is four programs to try. Let me know if you are able to scan a document.

  • ScanJet 8270 ISIS/TWAIN Drivers and Utilities cannot be installed on Windows 8.1 64Bit

Hello, I've tried to install all the drivers for my ScanJet 8270 on a  Windows 8.1 64Bit System. The standard twain and wia drivers installation worked perfect, but when trying to install the "ISIS/TWAIN Drivers and Utilities" the setup hangs (I'm using version 3.0 from 20 Aug 2014 which is currently the latest one). The setup starts, shows a progess bar while extracting the files, but after that nothing happens. After a while I've took a look into Windows task manager and saw, that the process is still running, but doing nothing (no CPU or other resource usage). On Windows 7 everything worked fine, but not on Windows 8. Although the scanner is advertised to work under Windows 8 and this driver is also listed on the driver downlaod page for Windows 8 it's not possible to get it installed on Windows 8. Is HP not testing the setups before shipping them? What can I do to get this driver to run on my PC? Is anyone out there having the same problems and solved them already? Thanks for your advices Sven

Hello, Thank you for posting your query This looks like there is no action from the software setup after a while on Windows-8. Please try the following steps 1. Open the run prompt in your computer and type "msconfig"2. In the system configuration utility, select the "services" tab3. Check the option " Hide all microsoft services"4. All the Programs, other than Microsoft Windows services would be listed now5. Locate any conflicting programs and uncheck them in the window6. Restart the computer and try to run the installation again Please Note: keep a record of the programs you are unchecking as after the installation you may need to check them back in the same screen Do not uncheck any Microsoft service from the list as it may be critical for your computer's function. • HP Probook 4440s WIFI Drivers Not Working After Windows 10 Update

I updated my Hp ProBook 4440s from windows 7 32 bit to Windows 10 32 bit, everything is working except for my WiFi it says 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware' Can you please provide me with the compatible wifi drivers for Windows 10 Pro 32 bit. I hope you can help

Hi: I guess what I meant to say is that you may want to play around with some of the advanced settings for the card in the device manager. It seems that reading the article you posted, that procedure may have been for folks that have Cisco software to allow for Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and I don't think the drivers you have include any Cisco extensions. You can see if there is Cisco networking software by going to the Programs menu in the control panel and see the list of programs installed. There are usually 2-3 Cisco networking software items listed if you do. Sometimes tweaking those advanced settings help.  Here is an article that explains what some of these settings are for. http://superuser.com/questions/342759/can-somebody-explain-about-wi-fi-device-manager-settings-and-power-settings-in-w The ones I normally change are:  Enable WMM.  Set Roam tendency to conservative.  Roam decision to optimize distance. I had to change some setting on an old Intel 5300 wireless card to allow it to connect in W10.   The drivers were there, etc but when I went to connect to a network, it did nothing.

  • Windows 10 Technical Preview - Wifi Drivers

Anyone having an issue with wifi drivers on Windows 10? If so, please provide:
    A description of the problem
    Model and P/N
    Wifi driver info
    Thanks,

I have similar problem to above, but a different wireless adapter. Using T440s. Upgraded to windows 10 pro x64 and most things are working well however the wifi is very wonky. The T440s is in the same room as the router so signal strength is not an issue, and all was working well on windows 7 before upgrading. While there is connectivity, the throughput is fluctuating. It will be ok for a few seconds (6-10MB/s) then the connection will die and drop to 0MB/s. Then it will go really slow, 30-60KB/s, then perhaps it will climb back up to normal speeds. Sometimes it will just stay dead. I have noticed in the connection properties window the value for Speed is changing, this is something that I have never seen before. In the past, it was always "Speed:                                    300.0 Mbps" Now it's fluctuating to all sorts of different values, I've seen 300, 270, 150, 235, 27, 36, 210, it's all over the place. Here are some screenshots: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98455184/Screenshot%202015-07-31%2022.05.02.png https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98455184/Screenshot%202015-07-31%2022.38.06.png Hopefully that will help someone point out what is wrong. When i connect through ethernet, all is good and full speed is constant. I have tried installing some different drivers, including the ones from lenovo driver page and some from the intel driver page, all have the same issue. The adapter is  "Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260AC with Bluetooth 4.0" Have tried driver 18.11.0.8 from lenovo and also one from the Intel site, happens on both. :UPDATE:  After looking at the readme for these drivers i seen this in the 'limitations' section: "Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radio are both operating on the same 2.4 GHz band. When both of them are used simultaneously, you may see slower communication    speed and/or reduced communication range caused by radio interference." I have confirmed this is my issue, extensive testing shows consistently that when my bluetooth mouse is off the issue does not exist. Not sure how to proceed, I can't change my router to 5ghz as there are incompatible devices in the house.

  • 13-b000no, Qualcomm Atheros, WiFi disconnects frequently

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion 13-b000no Notebook with Qualcomm Atheros WiFi adapter. I have installed latest drivers available from HP Support Assistance Software. The WiFi keeps dropping frequently after every 5-10 min of usage. The same happens if I install the latest driver available from Windows Update. Is there a workaround / fix for that? The product was purchased in March this year.

    Hi andyfromgilbert,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the WiFi works in other location but not at home. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support
Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity - Apple Support
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Install Windows 8.1 64bit on a Macbook Pro Late 2008 (using bootcamp 4.0.4033)

Hi everyone, I just tried to install windows 8.1 64bit (x64) on my MacBook Pro 15'' Late 2008 (Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz - 4GB RAM - Nvidia 9600M GT 512Mo), running Mavericks (10.9.5), and successed it with bootcamp 4.0.4033.
I installed it from scratch (new partition, no update from windows 7), in less than 1h following these very simple steps :
    Step "0" :
    - You'll need an two-button usb mouse plugged
    - Make sure your 64bit kernel is activated by typing this line of command in the terminal :
    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture x86_64
If you need to cancel it, simply type this :
    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386
I don't really know if this activation is necessary, but I did it 6 months ago for After Effects and maybe this activation has an effect on what happens next.
Step 1 : download the contents of bootcamp 4.0.4033 on a USB key, downloadable here :  Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033
After the download, you'll need to unzip this file in your usb key.
NB : This bootcamp only works from XP to windows 7, but it will be enough for your old-timer laptop.
Step 2 : Create a new NTFS partition on your HDD (using the disk utility)
Windows 8.1 64 bit needs at least 20GB, so I recommend a 100GB partition as a minimum for a correct running OS (the "15%" rule).
NB : Windows 8.1 will run over a NTFS partition and nothing else.
Step 3 : Insert your bootable windows 64bit 8.1 (CD or USB key).
Step 4 : Reboot your laptop, and keep pressed the Alt key just after the boot bell sound.
The OS selection screen loads. Once appeared, you can release the Alt key.
Step 5 : If your bootable device is working, the OS selection screen will display a "Windows 8.1" HDD or CD icon. Click on it and presse "enter".
Maybe you'll see a "UFI Windows" or "UFI Boot" or "UFI something...", this doesn't work.
After pressing "enter", the windows 8.1 installation process will start.
Step 6 : During the installation process, you'll have to chose the destination partition for your OS.
Select the partition you've created earlier (step 2)
Following the windows 8.1 steps are very simple.
NB : Don't forget to press the Alt key when windows 8.1 tries to restart!
Step 7 : Eject your windows 8.1 CD/usb key, then reboot holding Alt key, and select your freshly installed windows OS in the selection screen
Step 8 : After windows 8.1 is loaded, insert your usb key with Bootcamp 4.0.4033, open the "bootcamp" folder, right-click on the bootcamp setup, and click on "properties".
    Select the "compatibility" tab
Check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for"
In the list below this box, select "Windows 7"
    Click "Apply" then "Ok"
Now launch this boot camp setup (press "enter" or double-click)
Step 9 : Complete the BootCamp installation process, then restart (like step 7)
Don't forget to hold the Alt key after the bell sound
Step 10 : Enjoy your freshly installed windows 8.1!
You can acces your bootcamp parameters from the task bar (click on the tiny booycamp icon to open the quick menu and then click on the parameters/configurater). Here you can set your keyboard preference, your trackpad preference (multi-touch works), etc.
Following this procedure, I can use the built-in Apple-maped keyboard of my MBP. Every function keys works (Volume, luminosity, etc.)
Coming from Windows XPSP3, I was very surprised by the speed of the windows 8.1 installation (using an external USB super drive), and more surprised by this OS running flawlessly on my undying MBP!
The only issue I have is that my ethernet port isn't recognized, but it's a minor problem and i'm gonna found it quickly. I think it's due to my installation which wasn't perfectly clean (I try to run manually bootcamp 5.0.1 first, so there is some crap drivers somewhere).
So in order to confirm this procedure, i'm gonna re-install windows 8.1 from scratch very soon, because it take less time to do it (from step 1 to step 10) than write this article!

    And I used this method:
    1. Install Windows 8.1
    2. Download BootCamp 5 and unzip to folder BootCamp5 of a USB drive
    3. Start CMD as Administrator
    4. Install BootCamp 5 by entering the following commands
D: (Assuming the USB drive is assigned to letter D
    CD BootCamp5\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple
    BootCamp.msi
No need for InstEd might be considered by some as even more elegant as bezodziu's method

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit upgrade to Windows 8 Pro RTM 64bit hangs

I am trying to upgrade Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a Dell Alienware Aurora R3 desktop PC via DVD to Windows 8 Pro 64bit (RTM) and it freezes on the Windows Splash Screen after the installation and then after the restart. It looks like it has put the PC into
standby mode with the Windows logo frozen on one screen, however I cannot get PC out of 'sleep or hibernate mode' which is what it looks like it's done (flashing yellow Alienware logo).
When it happened the first time I had to manually shut it down and then restart it as the Win8 installation just stalled. After restart it said Windows 8 installation has failed and it successfully rolled back to my instance of Windows 7. I've
tried it again and it's done the same thing.
This is very frustrating as I did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro 64bit (RTM) on my Sony Vaio VGN-Z46GD laptop with no problems.
I have an Alienware Aurora R3 (only 8 months old):
    Intel Core i7-2600K

    1.5GB Nvidia GeoForce GTX580

Just thought the Win 8 upgrade would be easy so long after launch but I am getting all of the above! I have done the following:-

The specific motherboard has an onboard ATI 4200 vga. I've installed the Radeon x1950 pro from day 1 and in the bios settings the onboard vga option reads disabled. However windows 7 during install always recognize both x1950 pro an 4200 and provide drivers. In windows device manager i have the 4200 disabled. However windows display that from the 4GB of installed ram only 3,75GB is usable. Is this normal? Isn't supposed to have all my memory available since the onboard vga is disabled? And if it is disabled from start how windows 7 detect it during installation and suggest corresponding drivers ? I'm looking forward for your opinions and suggestions

  • Unable to open connection to MS Access 2013 .accdb file Under WCF Web Service Project Using Windows 8.1 64bit

I am encountering the following error when trying to connect to an Access 2013 database:
The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
I have Visual Studio 2013 SP3 running on Windows 8.1 64bit OS which also has Office 2013 installed (which includes MS Access 2013).  My project is a WCF web service using .NET Framework 4.5.1 using any cpu as target.  I have tried reluctantly
to install the older drivers as described by in the below article:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1d5c04c7-157f-4955-a14b-41d912d50a64/how-to-fix-error-the-microsoftaceoledb120-provider-is-not-registered-on-the-local-machine?forum=vstsdb
and also went through the "Add Data Source" wizard in the Project menu to have the connect string automatically built.  Even with the automatically built connect string I can not connect to the .accdb file from within my WCF web service.
What's odd is if I use the Database Explorer in Visual Studio it has no problem connecting the my Access file.  I inspected the connect string and tried to use it as well but still get the same error. Even stranger is that I have no problem connecting
to the Access DB in an ASP.NET project on the same PC. I am also able to connect to the Access file using a simple Windows Forms application.  So I'm wondering if it has something to do with trying to connect to the Access file from a WCF web service
    project.
What I'd like to know is if anyone has been able to get this to work in an environment as I described above as a 64bit WCF web service project?  I tried to switch my project to 32bit but when I do I get a different error which reads:
System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:
Almost to the point of trying to get this web service project done with SQL Express but would like to know if it can be done with MS Access 2013.  Any information anyone can provide to help me get past this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you installed the 64-bit Access driver on your machine? See
Data Source Names and 64-Bit Operating Systems for the differences in odbcad32. Call %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe to check the drivers.
How do you host your service? Stand-alone or IIS or embedded to another application? Keep in mind that IIS7 runs it in its application pool which is defaullt 64bit. Thus the bad image exception, when compiling your service as 32bit.
When you need the Access database for your service to store informtation, then I would switch to SQL Server (Express) or XML files depending on your actual needs.
Also check whether your account under which your service is run has the necessary NTFS file permissions on the access file and the folder. This is getting even more complex when it's a remote folder.
