Athlete Looking for an iPod Set-Up

Hello-
I am going to switch t the iPod, but since I listened to Mr. Jobs podcast on all the changes that were happening (about 3 weeks ago), I thought I would try to get some help with getting a good set-up for my triathlon and biathlon trials and practice. I need music and I guess the only place I can download music now is from my itunes. Is that true with an Apple iPod? I have looked at about 100 in-the-earphones, some from this site, some from Ultimate ears, and some from EarPhone Solutions. Very confusing but I like the in-the-ear approach since that was my main problem-the ear piece kept flopping out. I know when I wear ear plugs, in -the-ear, sometimes they can give a hollow or echo sound, and sometimes I can even hear my heart beat pounding against the ear plug and my inner ear canal.
Not sure on all the changes. the iPod Touch looks cool but how does it hook up to Wifi? Is it only at hotspots or can you get a service that you can get hooked up where ever you are, kind of like 3 or 4 G.
Since I need a sturdy and very high quality iPod holder, some good in-the -earphones (the ones with the ear hook on them seem pretty cool. Is that just an ear hook that you could use for any earphone? If anybody knows of a good set-up with a recommendation on an iPod, the arm or waist solid holder (it does not have to be on Apple.com), good but not priced out of this world earphones, I would really appreciate it.
I basically need it for music. The WiFi sounds good, but that would be used during a different time, unless I could get a connection when I was lost. lol. As far as all the extras, they can be good, but I am really primarily looking for the best sound, the best earphones, and the best holster or arm band.
yes, I have been to the Apple Store top try them out but it was a zoo. I never did find out about the WiFi on the Touch. If there will be a way I could get online wherever I was, I would like the Touch. For my purposes, I have no need for videos. Can you watch movies (full length HD and do they have to be downloaded from iTunes?)
If the learning curve is high with the Touch, I would need a good set of articles that explains all the main functions I would need to do in order to at least get me up and running.

There is no comprehensive usage monitoring app available for the iPod Touch. However, there is
a way to limit and track internet usage (as Illass has suggested, using a Safe Browser app like the one from Mobicip. See this tutorial for more information on how to set this up), and
setup an email account with monitoring facilities (like Zoobuh, Zilladog) and setup the email client on the iPod Touch to use one such account.
At this time, there is no equivalent text message monitoring service.

Looking for an iPod classic original Apple brand carry case.

Does anyone have a classic iPod original Apple brand carry case? I'd love to buy it (them) from you! I use mine to carry my iPod and iPhone on my belt, but mine has been with me for 6-7 years and is wearing out. If you have one of these sitting around in GOOD shape (with belt clip still attached and not damaged) I'd love to take it off your hands!

I don't have the original pouch (I don't even know what that is), but I did find this case I was looking for, and yes it was on eBay, and the guy was selling a bunch of them and I got 4 for like $4.50 each... what a deal. I think the original one I bought back in 2003 or 2004 was $30. So now I have 4 of these at the ready so when they wear out or break (like the previous ones I've had all did) I've got more.

You do not. The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing

Looking for suggestions to set up calendar and contacts

Ive had my iPhone for a couple months now and cannot seem to get the synching of my contacts and calendar right. When Im done, my calendar has duplicates and I wonder if I've erased something somewhere. Is there a way to create a brand new calendar dedicated to the iPhone that all information created on the iPhone is transfered to that calendar on my Macbook Pro rather than information from my Macbook Pro transferring or changing data on my iPhone? I want to retain what I have so just incase I can look back and see if anything is missing, but I wouldlike to have a dedicated calendar for the iPhone. Im still learning about calendar and set up so tips and suggestions welcome.
I am a dog trainer so I schedule my specific appointments on my iPhone and also have all day events that I schedule as "all day". Sometimes after a sync, I'll have duplicate appointments for some reason and have to go back and delete them; but I wonder if things have been erased.

Thx for the reply. However, my iPhone is actually where I enter my newer entries. With that in mind, what would I do differently from what you suggested below?
Also, I have to organize my desktop calendar differently and not sure how yet. I have clients I work with daily, some 3 days a week others 2 days a week and so on. I wanted to break things down in colors so I created a separate calendar based on days of week I work with clients but not sure if that works when syncing.
Also, when I play around with calendar, its a bit wacky. Meaning, its not working right. But besides that factor, I tried using the tutorial but it obviously doesn't offer suggestions in organizing. Its the syncing factor that really makes it difficult.
If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Looking for App to set Bandwith Priotities

I need do limit the Bandwith of a special app, if another app (Browser e.g.) runs. It must be a tool to set Bandwith Priorities to a list of Apps.
I there a tool outside with this capabilities? I tried the Software CarraFix 2.7 (the last version) an it seems to have some Problems with 10.4.6. The Priorities can´t be set and the Download Limits also.
If theres no other Tool, does someone know how to set it up manually in the Command Line?

Prioritising packets of data is known as Quality of Service or QOS.
Normally it only prioritses outgoing packets. It is normally only your outgoing bandwith that needs to be priortised as this has the most impact on your incoming bandwidth.
For example if you have a connection like mine 10mb/384k this effectively lets me download 1.2Mbytes/s and upload at 40k. however if I am downloading at 1.2mb then that requires about 20k of my upload speed for ACK data. Therefore if I am already uploading at 40k this would casue my download speed to slow down considerably. So I use QOS on my network, ACK data gets priority, then VOIP data. Then no matter what other users on the network are doing it does not impact anybody elses VOIP calls, web browsing emailing etc.
The only software QOS tools I know of are Carrafix which you have already tried and there is a command line tool called throttled.

Visual Web Pack looking for AppServer but set for Tomcat

I am having trouble starting a Creator 2 project I imported into the Visual Web Pack. It seems to be trying to use the AppServer which I do not have installed. It is set up to use Tomcat55. I set it up following the import instructions. It is clearly marked Tomcat55 in project.properties. It wont launch though. It just prints null and the following error is in the ide log...it happens every time i try and run the project. Other projects I create in VWP run fine with tomcat embedded. The error is:

It seems to me that your application is deployed to Sun Application Server. Try to change Deployment Server in project's properties. For that:
1) Rightclick on top of project in 'Projects' window.
2) Select Properties.
3) Change Server in 'Run' section.

Looking for a ipod advert video look

right hi all
i have a project on the go where i need to mix the ipod touch video (so just hands) playing a games console but they have asked me to make the hands not look like hands but more animated so i thought right ipod video style which would suite it well.
the problem i have now is i cant find a tutorial on how to do it, so now im stuck

Looking for a particular set of features

Does anyone know what Abode product will allow me to write with a stylus (on a Sony tablet) on a PDF and at the same time redord audio. And then allow it to be played back. I am math a teacher and I would like to upload an example question (PDF) for my students into a program. then i would like to be able to complete the example by writing with my touch screen and i would like some audio to acompany it. Check for the fiscal year variant value for that fisal period 003/2007in the cube is it same as that of othertwo values of the fiscal period.
May be at the report level or at the cube level you have restricted the values of the fisacl variant for a particular value and for that variant value there is no fiscal period of 003/2007.
Also it may be possible that your report key figures are restrcited year to date... that is till current fiscal period only through some other way.. and thats why you can only see data till current fiscal.

Looking for suggestions on setting up our search results page

We are now about 4 months into a project.. and its now
getting to the point
that our archive table has got duplicate records( this is a
good thing )
So in our archive table we allow our employee data to be in
there multiple
times ( keeping history of each time frame an employee has
worked here )
So since the employee regardless of how many times they have
worked for us,
is always issues the same employee number for payroll
purposes... we had to
find a way to make the records unique
So the table was designed so that any employee that has
multiple records
would have a record count that would then make it unique.
Example...
Employee # Name Work TimeLine RecId
2222 Dave 1999-2001
1
2232 John 1998 - 1999
1
2222 Dave 2003-2005
2
2222 Dave 2005-2007
3
Currently our search would display all 3 records but since
they all have the
same Employee#( which is how the page is currently setup to
display the
current record )
How can we update our detail page to display employee#2222
recid 1
Since we currently have the page using the "Go to detail"
page using the
employee# obviously if you have multiple records with the
same ID the detail
page will not work..
So is it possible to pass 2 values to the detail page to
display the correct
record? or any suggestions on what changes we can make..
I guess when you stare at something for so long you don't see
the obvious
solutions...
Any help or idea on how to update this would be great..

Looking for advice on setting up drives for VMs on Hyper-V

Hardware - Xeon E3 server, 16GB ram, 256Gb SSD, and 7 3-4 TB drives
Hyper-V core 2012 R2 installed on the SSD - did not take much space
Goal: To setup 2 VMs, one Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 (use=home server) using a majority of the space, and hopefully backup space too, and a separate VM for Ubuntu LAMP server for learning.
I have a separate machine with Windows 8.1 Pro, remote desktop to the Hyper-V computer is working as is Hyper-V Manager.
I have 7 HDDs, right now all in one storage pool. That might have been a mistake, as some of those drives are supposedly for server backup.
Questions:
Should I plan on installing WSE 2012 R2 to the SSD?
Should I create one giant drive from the storage pool, or separate drives for the VM uses. I guess I am not sure whether to create one giant storage space, and then create multiple VDHX drives as needed for the VMs. Can WSE 2012 backup
to a Virtual Drive?
For instance should I create one 1TB storage space, format it, give it a letter, and then create the VM for the Ubuntu LAMP install?
Create another storage space for the data for the WSE, and another for Backup space for WSE?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Ross,
I think you can either install WSE 2012 R2 either to the SSD or to a Virtual Drive created on the top of a storage space.
If you create one giant drive from a storage space, and then create multiple VDHX drives as needed for the VMs, then the disks are called Pass-Through Disks. If you create multiple separate Virtual disks for the VM uses, then the disks are called Fixed Disks.

I'm looking for some help setting up a cross platform work station with Mac/Windows

I've worked with Mac for all CS Suite programs to date, but now need more power for some publishing/editing work - and would like to keep two computers working back and forth for various parts of projects - and a PC desktop is more affordable for an upgrade to my laptop.
