[Athlon64] Dual display for MSI RS480M2-IL

when i got the MB i was told that it can support dual display but how can you do that when there's only one VGA on board??

Yes Jimcpl,
That's the option, so if you have a dual output vid card, then you can use the onboard vid output and enable surround view with three monitors!
Looks like it will be fun with the right monitors and video card.
Its too bad the onboard graphics can't support the newer games at more than 800X600 at the lowest resolution,
just imagine the gaming opportunities.
I have my tv hooked up using the rca jack out, but my tv is an old 27" display and the resolution is quite grainy at 1024X768, but its great for watching movies or tv shows.
Maybe this is what he was talking about.
I have yet to enable my tv as an extended desktop.
Maybe it doesn't work this way.
I think the options are:
 using your monitor
 or
using your tv
and not both at the same time.

Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.

  • Dual Display with MSI Nfroce 420D ?

I once read a message that Nview is now funktioning with the MSI board. Now my question would be if you are able to use the integrated graphics core and it's vga out together with an AGP card. Or are you only able to use Nview with the AGP raiser card ? (TV out on on screen and VGA on the other ?)
    Thanks

well you can use dual display. but more on that l8r.
you CANT use onboard and AGP at the same time.
you can use onboard and its AGP riser card to get TV out.. but the TV out is the same image that would be displayed on your main montor... not exented. and at defalt you cant have both on at the same time.. but with" TVtool" that is fixed
now you can get dual diplay from some of the newer AGP cards like gefroce 4 or new ATI cards.
or you get a PCI video card and it will exent your montor.

  • Dual display for mac mini?

    Hi
I need to display a wide quicktime movie across two matching 1920 x 1080 screens.
I'd rather use a mini than 2 usb players and a sync board.
    Will this work?
I think that the mini has one output that is HDMI, and the other DVI (?)
How can I ensure that they will match?
    Thank you,
    Marina

Dual screen KVMs do exist, but they're usually not cheap. A couple of online places that advertise them:
    [http://www.kvms.com/Landing/Dual-Video-Central.aspx|http://www.kvms.com/Landin g/Dual-Video-Central.aspx]
    [http://www.kvm-switches-online.com/dual-head-kvm-switch.html|http://www.kvm-sw itches-online.com/dual-head-kvm-switch.html]
(Disclosure: I do not work for either company.)
I have a 2009 Mini with two screens. Both screens are attached to "single screen" KVMs. KVM1 is to switch between the Mini and a desktop PC, using the PC's keyboard. KVM2 is to switch the second screen between the Mini and a Windows Server, using the server's keyboard. The Mini also has the Apple keyboard and mouse attached. So in "Mac mode", I have three keyboards and mice. Obviously, I have a unique situation and if you want to switch both screens to the same PC, then this el-cheapo dual-screen KVM won't work. Perhaps if you don't mind having the multiple keyboards, but it's still going to be two steps to switch both monitors instead of just one.

  • Two displays for MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC graphics card ?

Is it possible to have two displays simultaneously connected to this graphics card:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R6950-Twin-Frozr-III-Power-Edition-OC.html#?div=Overview
The card has two DVI-outputs "DVI Output: 2 (Single-Link DVI-D x1, Dual-Link DVI-I x1)".  I can use one display at a time and the second display only shows "No signal" error. I would like to use two displays when playing PC games, is it possible with this craphics card? Both my displays have VGA connector cables, and they are connected to the card with an VGA/DVI adapter.

what monitors you are using and what resolutions you're trying to use?
Both monitors are old models: 1) Panasonic PanaFlat PF90 2) acer AL 707.
I'm not sure what resolution I was using on acer when I tried to connect both monitors, but now I'm using PanaFLat with 1280 x 1024. Maybe I should try to set them both on 1024 x 768 and try again.

  • Use laptop display for dual display

I'm working on a G5 w/ artisan monitor and want some extra screen real estate. I have a G4 power book and wondered if I can somehow use the screen on the laptop as a dual display for the G5? Both run OSX tiger.

    Hi Virginia,
    Welcome to the discussions.
As far as I am aware, the graphics cards on the powerbooks enable you to run a second display from the laptop, but only as a "mirrored" (i.e. identical picture) of the main display on the laptop. For extra screen real estate, you need fully independant operation, and that can't happen.
Also, I don't think you can use the screen off the laptop as a "passive" display, as there is no practical way of supplying the correct video input to your laptop display from the second graphics port of the G5.
For these two reasons, I believe that what you are considering will not be possible.
    Cheers!
    Karl

Hi BD hope u had a nice Holiday.
I realized I needed to switch the DVI connectors, or switch the displays in order to get the cursor to go from left to right. It was a breeze.
I still can't believe Chris is gone. I'll have to email him and see how he's doing.

  • Are there any issues with MacPros+Dual Displays and FCP?

I have a MacPro (2.1) with an ATI X1900XT graphics card (2 DVI ports). It is currently hooked up to a single 24". My usage is mostly Browsing, Final Cut Suite and Video. I am planning on upgrading to Dual Displays (2*24" or 2*27") but read about some vague issues the ATI might have when using dual displays and FCP (Color more specifically). Are there any specific issues I should be aware of before getting a second display?
    Many thanks in advance

One graphics card? Two displays? ZERO ISSUES! Not sure what "vague issue the ATI" cards have, but I have that exact card, and run two 24" displays with no problems. I have run dual displays for years. I find working with one very...cramped.

  • [Athlon64] MSI RS480M2-IL Dual Channel Trouble

    My spec:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice)
    MSI RS480M2-IL (BIOS 3.4)
    2 x 256 Kingston ValueRAM (KVR400X64C3A/256)
    WD 1200JB
It works perfectly in Single Channel memory mode, but when I try to set Dual Channel, it just beeps and doesn't boot... I've tried installing memory modules in both blue and black slots.
    Any advices on my trouble?

did you already flashed the bios to the lattest? since the venice is quite a new core, and is probalbly not suported with your current bios.
it is know that dual channel wil not run with a venice core unless flashen to the newest bios
it was the first thing to do... BIOS 3.4, the latest one

  • MSI GeForce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8X - No Dual Display?

Hello! I have just purchased the MSI MX440-VTD8X  based on GeForce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8X. I have the latest drivers and everything but I’m unable to enable the clone option to have pictures on both my monitor and my TV. The option is grayed out. The TV connection is correctly connected. I can choose my TV as the primary display, it’s just that I cannot have dual display! Isn’t my card supposed to have this option? Here is a pic:

A previous poster (in a different thread) found that if the video card has both analog and digital monitor outputs, then for TV-out to function properly with the VIVO 4-port adapater, you need to connect your analog monitor to the digital output using the supplied digital-to-analog converter.
I have a new G4 MX440 VTD8X and had a similar issue to the one described here....the TV could not be detected by the video card when connected via RCA jacks (S-video worked, but could not CLONE the monitor).  I moved my primary monitor from the analog to the digital port, and viola, the TV out functions perfectly now. :D

  • [Athlon64] Overclocking AMD Athlon64 on MSI RS480M2-IL

    Hi,
I thought that MSI motherboard is good at overclocking, but the MSI RS480M2-IL do not have any option to overclock my AMD Athlon64 CPU.
I just built a new PC with the following configuration:
    - AMD Athlon64 3000+ CPU (Venice core)
    - 2 X 512 MB DDR400 2.5 CAS RAM
    - MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard with 3.4 BIOS version
    - AOpen H420B casing with 300W Power supply
    - Seagate 250GB SATA HDD with NCQ
Anyone know how to change the FSB setting in the BIOS or any Windows program that can change the FSB setting so I can overclock the CPU???
I also have the following questions about the RS480M2-IL motherboard:
    - My AOpen casing provide a 20 pins ATX power connector so do I need change the power supply with 24 pins ATX connector?
    - I thinking of adding a nVidia graphics card so anyone have any problem with a nVidia graphics card on this motherboard?

Vdorta: Can give more instruction how to run the ClockGen program??? Do I have to load it every time my Windows bootup???
I don’t have my computer at hand, so the following is from memory, aided by the ClockGen site:
    1. Download the RS480-specific zip file to a folder and extract its contents.
    2. Run the CG-ICS951412.exe file; click on the “Get” button to obtain the current FSB value; adjust the new FSB value you want (there are five values: 200, 204, 210, 214, 220). I tried and tested them all and they were stable in my machine, so I chose the highest, 220.
    3. Create and save in the same folder a simple text file, for example, “filesave.txt” with a text editor (I used Notepad) with the following two lines in it:
    [CG-ICS951412]
    FSB=204
(where FSB is the value you have chosen from ClockGen.exe); every time you change the value, you have to modify the text file to include the new value, of course.
    4. Create a shortcut to CG-ICS951412.exe; right click the shortcut and select “Properties”; add “-file=filesave.txt” to the “Target” field so that it should look something like this:
    “C:\ClockGen\CG-ICS951412.exe -file=filesave.txt”
    5. In order for Windows to load the program at boot, place the shortcut in the Startup folder.

  • [Athlon64] Problem with MSI RS480M2-IL

    Hi all,
I have problem with MSI RS480M2-IL. My problem is My temperature is very high... around 55-60c ... i am using AMD 3000+ Venice and no OC... and SpeedFan unable to detect my Voltage usage... Aida32 also same... 1 more thing is when i tried to run SiSoft Sandra 2005... it will take alot of time to load, sometime will just hang. i Test PCMark04 and found only got 3k for average mark... my friend getting 4k+ and we are using same spec... Below is my Spec:-
    MSI RS480M2-IL
    AMD 64 3000+ Venice E3
    Bios Version 3.8
    Geil PC3200 DDR400 2.5-3-3-6
    Maxtor 60GB HDD 7200RPM 2mb
    Verudium Power Vortex 420W
Hope some one can advised me what to do... my score too low and my board detect temperature and voltage is not accurate... Hope MSI Engineer will look thought and help me... Thank for Viewing !

the underlying "Who's fault is it?" question: AMD64 VENICE CORE (E3) PROCESSORS? or MSI RS480M2-IL MOBOS?
so far, ALL users with this proc/mobo combination HAVE the high (or incorrect) temperature issue. replacing the mobo obviously will not resolve the issue but replacing the proc with one that is NOT a Venice E3 core, does the trick. but of course, not everyone will have the privilege of exchanging their damned proce via the retailer specially if it's beyond the first 21 days of purchase.
in my case, my retailer refused to have the E3 proc replaced with the 'corrected' E6 version no matter how hard you explained the known issues with the E3. no chance of AMD recalling the E3 cores since problems with are only isolated to the particular MSI RS480M2 boards.
so for users that are and will be stuck with this combination, what is the solution then to the temperature issue? in my opinion, it's up to MSI to perhaps release a bios update that will correct this. another important thing to consider is the question: IS MY VENICE CORE INDEED OVERHEATING OR IS IT JUST THE MSI MOBO SHOWING INCORRECT READINGS? the proc overheating in actuality is obviously a lot different thatn just having an incorrect bios temp readings.
based on what i have observed, my Venice core displays the correct cpu temps (33-35*C) when being used on a MSI K8 Diamond mobo. placing the proc back to the R2480M2 board shows a very unusual 61-63*C bios cpu temp. furthermore, if i touch the stock heatsink/fan cooler that i have (for both motherboards), it really does NOT seem to be extremely  hot to think that the cpu is actually overheating. in addition, my system using the RS480M2 performs well and has no spontaneous shutting down problems whatsoever. of course, my sense of touch is not as accurate as a thermometer but more or less, if you consider all the points i mentioned, most of us can say that the whole issue is just a matter of incorrect cpu reading.
perhaps the ATI chipset is the one to blame since i have notices as well that the Venice core processors do not seem  to have this high temp problems with MSI's K8 mobos with the NVIDIA chipsets.
one last question: so do you guys think that this problem can be resolved by a simple bios revision? (as a dell tech guy, i do know for a fact that bios updates resolves overheating error messages in Inspiron/Latitude laptops)

I'm trying to set up a dual monitor for my new iMac. I'm using a second display I used with my old G5. My iMac recognizes the second monitor but the monitor won't turn on. Power button doesn't do anything on the monitor itself.

If it won't turn on then the monitor is dead (power supply?, video circuits?).  Not worth repairing.
If you have a new iMac then it has thunderbolt.  So exactly what is that monitor you are trying to connect?  For TB you can connect a mini-displayport monitor.   Probably (not 100% sure with TB) can use dvi or vga too if you have the appropriate adapter.
