[Athlon64] POWER LED: motherboard has 2-pin female connector, case has 3-pin male connector

How can I use the power LED on my case if the case has a 3-pin connector and the motherboard (MSI RS480M2) has a 2-pin connector?

If you carefully pry up the plastic that holds the metal pin in, you can slip it out of the third hole, and move it to the second.  No need to cut or trim the three pin connector.  Also, LEDs have polarity, so make sure you are moving the right pin.  You can pull both wires out and carefully push them down onto the connector on the MOBO, making sure the two are not touching.  Then power up your system and see if the LED is working.  Swap if necessary.

  • MSI P45 Neo Power Led question

    Hi !
I am building my first computer and I have a problem.
I have a computer case called Antec 300 and a motherboard MSI P45 Neo and I have a question for connecting the Power Led cabel, the cabel in my computer case have 3 holes in it and the cabels are in hole no. 1 and 3,and in the motherboard manual the connectors is named JFP1 and JFP2. I have installed the power/reset switches and the HDD Led to JFP1,but the Power Led don´t fit in to JFP1 as one cabel will stick outside from JFP1, so my question is, can I put the Power Led to JFP2 as it belongs to the front panel connectors and as it also says Power Led and speaker.
Can I use JFP2 to install the Power Led instead of JFP1 ?
Or how do I solve this?
Here is a link where the manual can be downloaded http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=6792&type=manual
I hope someone can help me with this.

Yes, that is where it is supposed to be connected to.  The pin definition for JFP2 in the manual explicitly says "Power LED".

  • L655 has solid white power LED and soid orange battery LED and will not power on at all.

L655 has solid white power LED and soid orange battery LED and will not power on at all.  I tried a second power adaper.  Any other suggestions?  It does not even try to power on.  No fan or any other noises.

if it is not powering up on battery or AC, then there is either something wrong on the motherboard keeping it from powering up, or a bad power switch.  I personally have not encountered a bad power switch on any of my Toshibas, so I would suspect something with the motherboard.  It is strange that it does indicate that your plugged in and charging.  If you leave the power adapter plugged in, does the battery status eventually go white?

  • K9AGM3-FIH power LED is still flashing

    Hi all,
I have K9AGM3-FIH motherboard (BIOS updated to 1.1). I have 2x1GB DDR2 667MHz RAM, 1x320GB SATA2 HDD, AMD Athlon64 X2 4000+ EE, internal USB memory card reader, DVD-RW drive...that's all...so not a power hog system. I have 350W PSU, but when I powerup the PC, the POWER LED is still flashing in 1 second intervals... (0.5s ON and 0.5s off). The system is running normally. I've successfully installed Windows Vista and all the apps. It's flashing even when I am in BIOS. What can be bad, if the system is running fine?????
    Thanks.

It's not connected to HDD LED pins is it?

  • P67a-gd65 b3 Not powering up but power LED goes on

This computer I built has been running for several months with no problems. Last night I left it on and when I got up it today it was off.
Almost positive its a hardware problem as nothing new has been added or changed. Looking to see if anyone else had the same symptoms to help identify what component may be causing it.
When I unplug the machine from power, and plug it back in no LEDs light up (as expected from what I remember when building it).
When I press the power button on the case, or the power button on the motherboard, that power LED lights up but that is the only thing that seems to happen. None of the LEDs on the top by the CPU light up, the fans never spin, and no post.
First thoughts would be psu, cpu, or motherboard.
The type of psu (seasonic x series) I have would only spin its fans some of the time depending on load. So the lack of psu fan activity isn't abnormal.
    Thanks

  • Does KM4M-L have power LED?

Does the KM4M-L (VIA KM400 MicroATX motherboard) have an onboard LED showing whether the board has power? I don't mean pins for a front-panel LED, but an LED soldered right on the motherboard?
I've searched the online manual and scoured the photos, but have found no proof that one exists.
    David

Nope "Bas" is Correct; as MSI Does Not Have onboard Power LED'S, My ABIT Board Has 2 Red For Standby Power, and Green For Board in Operation, And My Wife Hates Them, As I have the ABIT  PC in the TV Room, and with the Clear Side Cover the RED LED Shines Right At the Corner of My Wifes Eyes (It is Freakin Bright I have to Admit) while She Watches TV As it is Just enough to Distract Her ...I always wonderd why she would have a Towel Covering the PC when it was Off, Until I sat on Her Couch and Had that bright LED Catching my eye..So She says to Me " My MSI i865-PFSIR Doesn't have that That Aggravating Freakin Light, What the Hell Good is it anyway, You need a Freakin Light to tell You That the PC is Off!!!" ..Women , So easy Aggravated..............Sean REILLY875

  • Power LED Flashes on During Startup then turns off (system keeps running)

The system itself works great aside from a few issues with MSI Live and Dual Core Center.
It's a K9N2G Neo Motherboard and I have tried connecting the Power LED to JFP1 (MSG LED pins) Like MSI told me and
I currently have the PLED connected to the JFP2 (Power LED pins 1 & 5) the way it should be connected.
Could it be a faulty case LED, an issue with the motherboard, a BIOS setting?  I don't know.
I would not be so concerned if it wasn't for the fact that the current MSI Live Update only lists options for VGA BIOS, VGA Drivers and Utilities (nothing for the motherboard.)  And that the Dual Core Center only lets me View/Adjust the Graphic Card.
I keep thinking that it could be the Motherboard BIOS (I'm on the newest version available) mostly because the BIOS is missing the tRAS option for setting the Memory Timing.  When I look in the Manual (which I downloaded from MSI as a PDF) it shows 6 settings for Memory Timing TRC, TRRD, TRCD, CAS(TCL), TRP and TRAS. The current BIOS only has 5 Settings (as confirmed by an Image that MSI Tech support showed me.) The one that is missing is TRAS which is required for setting Memory Timings and is probably the most important setting.  Anyway, since the PLED flashes on, I really don't think it's a faulty case LED.  Also, since the system boots and runs very stable (More than 48Hrs of uptime while running constant Burn In Tests and no Heat or stability Issues (Video Card hit 45C, CPU hit 36C)) I don't think it's a Hardware Issue.
If anyone can help me track this down, I'd like to know what the problem is.

Suggest you use neither Live Update or Dual CoreCenter.
A USB flash like you noticed is far better for BIOS.
Installing drivers you should do manually. And there aren't many to choose from:

  • [VIA] KM4M-V: When powered on, Power LED not lit

Hi, I have a problem with my KM4M-V... I bought this mainboard after my previous mainboard couldn't work, but after buying, it doesn't solve the problem. When I switched on my PC, my HDD LED is lit, but my Power LED is not. I changed a new Power Supply but it doesn't work too. Can anyone tell me what is the problem? Thank you!

Suggest you press button above then Forum Profile Information and create a signature like mine; it will saves us a lot of time and effort.  It will take you a few minutes but advice will be more specific and productive.  Notice information we need for psu, both of those you have tried.
Did your old motherboard ever work or did it just die on you without warning?  If both boards display same symptoms than your problem most likely rests with one( or more) other components.
For troubleshooting take motherboard out of case and barebone it, i.e cpu/hs, vga, 1 stick of memory; you can jumper power switch pins with screwdriver to fire it up.  Simply a case of replacing components until culprit is found.

  • Are there any Converters for Lightening Female to 30 Pin Male?

I bought a Sony radio to also play the Classic on but it has a Male Lightening on it!

Have been trying to locate a lightning female to 30 pin male adapter for a friend with a mix of iOS devices and have had limited success.
MiniInTheBox.com has a corded-style adaptor which might work:
    http://www.miniinthebox.com/lightning-female-connector-to-30-pin-male-connector- cable-15cm_p693543.html?currency=USD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&gclid=CMin6 qXD4LsCFfBcMgodKBYADA#prod_description
I have no experience with this vendor so cannot offer any comment regarding them. As with all third-party Apple adaptors, this adaptor could support only power as no details as to operational support are shown.
Another adaptor by Sandberg has been discontinued by the manufacturer but might still be found somewhere.
    http://www.sandberg.it/product/Adapter-30pin-M-to-Lightning-F
This was offered on Amazon UK but they are currently out of stock - which is likely permanent if the manufacturer had discontinued the adaptor.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandberg-Adapter-30pin-Lightning-440-45/dp/B009KZZ3LC
When I called my local Apple Store, I received a very polite but suspiciously contrived answer that Apple is "focused on forward planning" so did not offer a reverse Lightning to 30-pin adaptor. It had the quality of an official talking point given to employees for use in such circumstances.
From the rumors on the Web about Apple disallowing new iOS docking offering both a Lightning and 30-pin adaptor, the lack of a reverse Lightning to 30-pin adaptor could be related?
So while one of the above devices COULD do the job (if you could obtain it!), you would be taking a chance that everything would work correctly!
    Good luck!

  • MOVED: [Athlon64] Should I use the 24 pin PSU converter ?

This topic has been moved to AMD64 nVidia Based board.
[Athlon64] Should I use the 24 pin PSU converter ?

I've heard that most 24 pin boards run just fine with just the 20 pin plug... just has long as your PSU has enough amps on the 12v for proper function. Might be a different story if you have a fully populated SLI setup though.
I don't see why they wouldn't as most new PSU's come with a plug that is essentially a 20 pin that just has a detachable 4 pin add on. Of course if you need the PCI-e power plugs and don't have any adapters for those, you may as well upgrade anyhow.

  • Equium L40 10X Blinking green power LED

    Hi Guys,
I have an old Equium L40 that I haven't used it in a while.
Now when I plug the power adapter in the power led just blinks green constantly.
I've checked the blink codes but I can't find one for mine. It simply turns green for a second and then off.
Then green for a second then off and does this constantly.
I've tried removing the battery for a few minutes and then holding the power button down for a minute, but I just get the same result. The power adapter is a the one that came with the laptop and as far as I can tell works fine.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks guys!

    Hi
Power Indikator (DC IN) indicates the power status with the AC adaptor connected.
The green (not blinking) means power is being supplied and the computer is turned on.
The power indicator on the front of the computer will glow green when the computer is switched on.
The blinking amber indicates power is being supplied to the computer while the notebook is in sleep mode.
Unfortunately, the DC IN green blinking status looks like a hardware problem.
Probably the power supplied to notebook is abnormal or there are some problems with power supply electronic on the motherboard.
By the way: please check the RAM modules. Remove one and test the unit using only one module in each slot. Check both modules.
Some years ago, a friend of mine has had some problems with the notebook. The blinking LED indicated the RAM issue

  • Satellite A200-AH1 - power LED flashes blue

    Hi
Ok I got a old laptop it's a Toshiba A200-AH1 it's was working ok then just stop ... the wannabe IT Tech in my home town said that it was the External Power adaptor so we bought a brand new one now all that it does is flashing ... si to be sure i'm talking about the blue light beside the picture of a power cable the one to the left of all the little pictograme of cd, battery, HD ect ect ect
The rate of flashing is steady at bout 2 blink per second more or less
    Please help me out

    Hi
From my knowledge the power LED flashes only if an error has been detected on the motherboard.
I think you should contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in order to find out what is exactly wrong with your notebook.
I think the ASP technician has more experience with Toshiba notebooks as an common wannabe IT technician.
    Good luck

  • KT4M Backplate and Orange Power LED??

    Hi
I've recently purchased a KT4m board, however it came without an MSI Stock Backplate where do I get the backplate??
Also when the machine is powered on the power LED is Orange not green as it should be how do I fix that so it is green??

The LED in my case is green but I think it's supposed to do orange when it's in standby. It was green with the old motherboard so it must be green. I modified the power LED connector so that I could plug it into either and now plugged into the two pin one it comes up green!!
I've e-mailed MSI about the backplate hope they can send me one without paying!!
