[Athlon64] Problem installing ATI 9600 XT driver & Macromedia Flash on winXP 64bits final

Hi:
I installed win Xp 64 bits, no problemm during the installation, but some times, the graphic display crashes.  I check for the driver that tht OS  has installed by default, for the graphic card, ATI Radeon 9600 Xt, and it is a driver dated sept-2004. I downloaded the latest driver from ATI, and when installing the following error appears: Thunk.exe  INF file is missing.
And the driver get not installed.
Other problem that I also have, is when using IE 64 bits , I can not install Macromedia Flash in order to display Direct X contents in some webs. Therhe is no problem when using IE 32 bits.
Please help.

  • How to How to install ATI Radeon HD2600 driver on bootcamp 3.0 windows 7 partition w/black screen problem

Ok....so i've posted this question in a different way, and i gotten several "scratch the surface" answers from people just saying to install "Ati catalyst", or insert the os x dvd and run set up.exe, and update  to boot camp 3.1 or 3.2...while these all seem like great suggestions, I am finding myself needing more specific direction or "hand holding" so to speak.....here is the MAIN problem...
    The Background/history
I used boot camp (3.0, and i found updates for 3.1 for imac and for windows, but can't find for mac pro, AND they all are ".exe" files which run on windows..which as you'll see is the big part of my problem...So I recently updated my mac pro (with the ATI Radeon HD2600 graphic PCIe card with 10.6.7 from 10.5.8.  I created a single partitioned drive to install windows 7 professional 64 bit.  The download software function didn't work (Thanks, APPLE for that poor level of support) so have to select the option that i have already downloaded, or have other media with the drivers already on it....i restarted with the windows 7 disk in....
The installation of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
So the installation of windows 7 seemed to go flawlessly, was able to use my existing 23" hd apple cinema display (so somehow it has drivers that work with the graphics card, or maybe the motherboard's on board video components) and i select english, and install now, custom, blah, blah, blah...installation causes a few reboots, then restarts ultimately back in os x since that is the default boot os i use on this desk top and have to do the "opt" button to select booting in windows....so when i try restarting in windows, now using the actual boot drive on which i am installing it, it ran through another reboot or two, but then after that, my display goes black....  in the communities, the solution sounds super simple... "go download the ATI catalyst for the black screen problem....windows 7 doesn't have device drivers that work with the ATI radeon hd2600...no problem, just go download and install...."
The problem, re-emphasized :  I cannot even finish the install for windows, because of this driver problem....i cannot see anything....I have tried to reboot in safe mode, and that then seems to invoke whatever basic drivers that do work, likely through the motherboards onboard video vs the actual graphic card, and the screen works and says that it's wanting to complete the installation, so i'm thinking awesome this is gonna work....and then.. "windows installation was not completed and cannot be completed in SAFE MODE, need to restart, blah, blah, blah" pops up...and forces reboot...so Safe Mode allows me to see, but won't allow me to finish the install of windows 7...and without completing the install i can't run (ranther I DONT KNOW HOW TO) any of the various .exe files everyone is telling me are the solutions to my problem...like update 3.1 and 3.2 bootcamp...they're all .exe files?  not sure why, because bootcamp runs in 10.6.7 i thought, but whatever...it needs running Windows to execute...then the ATI radeon hd2600 driver for windows 7 that i downloaded from the site has an installation program that is an .exe file, which needs windows to run...  Does this make sense, why i can't just use these fixes, that seem to be the only fixes out there....so can someone school me step by step here (not just the highlights) of how to update bootcamp, and how to install the ati radeon driver  without having been able to complete the windows 7 installation because the monitor goes and stays black????
This is so very frustrating for the record...and any substantial help "not just go download this..." would be immensely appreciated.
Some other things i've been told to try that i've tried and nothing seems to happen as i'm told it will....
---I've been told to install the osx dvd and run "setup.exe"  - AGAIN...it's an exe file...and 2 - when i put in the os x file it just wants to re install 10.6...so need more help if this is even a real solution to understand how to make it work...
---I've been told to update boot camp to 3.1 and/or 3.2 from 3.0, using Apple Software Update....Well, my software update is saying everything is up to date and there is nothing new to download at all, and when i reverify the bootcamp version it is still only 3.0.2...and again downloading the updates from www.apple.com/support/  for 3.1 and 3.2...all of those are .exe files...need windows to run them...again, refer to the problem described in detail above...
---I've been referred to the black screen on imac early 2011 thread saying it should fix my problem...and reading it it SEEMED like the most promising resolution...it involves creating a boot flash drive for windows 7 and an xml file that sets the imac drivers to auto install during the windows installation..and it got me farther than anything else..but still ultimately ended up in the darned black screen...my assumption is that it's because it's for imac and not mac pro so not ati-radeon specific drivers....ok....that's enough..please...anyone who thinks they can help...your help is desperately needed...thanks so much in advance!

hey Hatter, thanks so much for getting back...so just to be super clear...is there no way to install the drivers using an exe file given my current state? no way to do it with command prompt or something?  if can make work with existing card, i'd prefer it...now when you say it's 'toast' how do you mean?  it works well with the os x partitions and always has...so i'm not sure i follow, just want to be clear...
Now to your point of starting with only the one drive installed...so i would put that bootcamp drive in bay 1 and disconnect the rest...i'm not totally sure what you're suggesting the effect should be of doing this?  just that i'm just installing windows without the bootcamp deal...but if windows 7 doesn't support the ati radeon hd2600, it still will go black screen no? or you're saying it will run video through the motherboard if it's the only bootdrive, and will run all the way through the windows install without trying to switch over to the hd2600?  (slrry flr these questions..just really want to make sure i understand what you're telling me..thanks so much for your patience and help by the way...it's very greatly appreciated...your support is priceless!
So now, assuming none of the above is possible...referring now to the ati 5770 that you referred to...you mention it works with 10.6 well, and that windows 7 supports it ...2 questions on that
         1) Windows 7 supports" meaning, out of the box windows 7 supports it? or will i have to install drivers still through some update, because again, if that's how i have to do it, then won't work, cuz can't start windows to see anything to install any drivers or run any thing at all...so it would have to just work with initial installation.
2)hardware wise for my Mac Pro 3,1...intel dual quad core xeon, blah blah....will this card work? it's a PCIe and should fit on my board no prob, etc?

  • Problem installing ati 9200

    Hi
I am having problem getting this card to work on my k7n2-L motherboard. Could not find similar problem in the forum so i am posting this.
I am replacing a gforce2 pro with a Sapphire Radeon 9200 Atlantis. After installing the card with the latest ATI driver and reboot, it boots pass window and when it get to Welcome screen i got a window error message "write delay fail"
I thought it was the card, so i swapped it with a Sapphire 9500 on my other computer, same message.
put the 9200 Atlanlis in my A7n8x, no problem.
i installeed all the latest driver from msi sites, up the voltage, still can't get it to work.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    soundblaster live 5.1
    pioneer 105
    liteon cdw 52x
    xp pro sp1

Well you just answered your own question tho...
    Take this hypothetical situation:
    I have a system with:
    20W motherboard
    30W Video card
    10W memory
    30W CDROMS
    40W HD's
    20W Fans
150W Total needed to run but the supply doesn't quite supply current/power as it's distributed per rail...well the older supplies didn't supply per rail...they supplied in a combined 3.3v & 5v rail and a 12V rail...let's say I have a 200W supply...I can probly get away with this setup because of the combined being high enuff and the 12v fine as well...remember the 200W is not true because they're giving TOTAL power at max draw of the supply but not telling you that the PSU doesn't really supply 1 output but 3...
So...now I swap in a Video card that is 70W...what do you think will happen? Well the machine will start it's boot and may/may not make it to the login screen...it's really a crap shoot...but it's very likely that it's going to start rebooting like crazy once initialization starts...
Hope you followed my point there...again the values I used aren't by any means real and should not be used for intent to figure anything out (my disclaimer there heheheh)

  • Installed ATI Win 7 driver and now just displays wallpaper

is this the correct place to enquire about this problem? ok.. my problem is that i just installed the windows 7 build 7600 version 6.1 ULTIMATE. I have tried installing the ATI win7 driver but after a reboot, i could only see the wallpaper and nothing else after that. I had to repeat the same mistake for 3 times finally i decided to stop figuring out how to do. so, i hope someone out there is able to help me. Because i am kind of a hard core gamer and don't want my fps to be halved because of this.

its the usual amd ati driver.  tried going to this  http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx and downloaded the necessary stuff and ran it. But the problem still exists. Addition information: the ATI mobility radeom hd3400 driver has an exclaimation mark in the device manager. Now i noticed the brightness is not controllable in the high performance graphic card, wheres it is possible on the energy saver option

  • Problems installing on new hard drive

Hi, I've got a mbp 17, early 2006 I think. I just removed the hard drive and replaced it with a new, larger drive to install snow leopard fresh. Now when I power up the light at the latch comes on and I hear the SuperDrive spin with the SL disc in as though it knows the disc is present but I get nothing on the screen. It is as though the screen is not on at all. I put the old drive back in and still get the same problem.
How can I troubleshoot this to figure out what is wrong or get around it? Or is this something for a more professional tech to diagnose? I fear I may have broken something when I had it open but i never recall doing anything questionable or seeing anything odd while open.
    Thanks for any help.

Took it to Apple store. Logic board bad, had them replace, fine now.

  • [SOLVED]Problem installing ATI catalyst drivers

Hello arch users, ive been having trouble when installing the ati proprietary drivers through pacman. I followed the wiki and added the catalyst repo into my pacman.conf file. however when i type in sudo pacman -Syu i get this:

and when i try to install catalyst and catalyst-utils i get this as an output:

any idea on what to do?
i want to use the proprietary over the open source because it gives me less problems when using 3d rendering.
or are there any other ways of installing these packages other than pacman?

You could add 'SigLevel = Never' under the catalyst repo in pacman.conf, so that it doesn't check for package integrity.
And about the 404, maybe your 'Server' is incorrect. I use 'Server = http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/catalyst/$arch'

  • Problems installing all new SB driv

Here is my problem, and from a can see a few other peoples problem, I have an Audigy 2 and a Li've 5., I have just reinstalled Windows XP and downloaded the latest drivers for both of these cards, I can install the older drivers no problem but none of the new drivers work, they just say no Audigy2 or Li've 5. can be found, these are on different computers and the cards both work fine with older drivers, I would like to know what is the problem with the new drivers? There is no AGP bus on the RS480M2-IL.  The motherboard has PCI and PCI-X buses.  Note, there isn't an AGP Slot either.
    Danno
yeah, but in the bios it shows the option AGP aperture size

  • [Athlon64] Problem with ATI X200 graphics onboard

Having problems with the ATI X200 graphics heating up on my system - am relatively a novice, would appreciate any help.
I have a hp dx5150 system (Athlon 3000+, MSI oem board (MS-7050) with ATI X200 onboard)
While running games (NFSU, Jedi Academy) - graphics hangs. Sometimes it comes back with a VPU recover message - other times, I have to switch off at mains to reset the system.
Googled a little, found a number of different forum posts about ATI VPU recover - based on some of these saying that heating could be a possible cause, downloaded speedfan and used it to track the temperatures.
I get 3 different temperature readings - Temp 1 and 3 are around 40 degrees Celsius. Temp. 2 starts at about 50 degrees, with normal web browsing stays around 55 - 58 even if the system is on for an hour plus. If I run the games, this temperature goes up to 60+ immediately, increases to above 70 (71 / 72) - the VPU recover messages coincide with the temperature going to 70+.
    Questions :
    1) Is this temperature (70+) the cause for the VPU recover? or rather - what should be the allowable temperature range for normal working?
    2) Can the temperature be reduced by using lower settings for the display? I started with 1024x768, 32 bit - tried both 800x600 and 640x480 with lower color bit settings - doesn't seem to be different, but haven't tried these long enough to be sure?
    3) Any other things I can try? Would like to avoid opening the case / adding any hardware (fans etc.) since that would void the warranty - but if there's no other options, will have to then check those out.
thanks for any help in advance
    Regards

Ok - some updates - and I'm confused!
Had a problem using the fan I had since the power adaptor cable didn't work - if I removed the case fan connector and connected there, the fan ran but system shutdown since the case fan reported not running!.
Next - left the case open, pulled a pedestal fan and directed it to blow on the motherboard.
Temperature readings dropped - startup temperature in the 45 degree range, max temperature recorded was 58 degrees.
However, the hanging still occurred, though less frequent - previously would hang every 15 mins or so, this time, ran about 45 mins + before hanging.
Also experimented with running the aircon in the room with the fan / open case - max temp was at 55 degrees, but hanged once during this trial (about 1.5 hrs total running).
If heating caused the problem, I shouldn't have had the hanging - all previous occasions, the hanging occurred when temp touched 70 degrees.
If some other cause - then the drop in the frequency / number of occurrences is puzzling - system performed better with the additional cooling, but not totally trouble free.
Also saw this post on the forum -
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=82279.0
problem described looks similar, except that I haven't had a BSOD - most often what happens is that the display freezes, sound persists - this happens for about 30 - 45 secs, then screen blanks out and comes back after 10 secs or so. Once in a while the display doesn't come back after blanking out - then I have to hard boot the system (switch off at mains and back on again - the reset / Ctrl Alt Del options dont work.
Right now, wondering whether to try a PCI - E card - and like the other posting, wondering whether ATI / Nvidia.
    Thanks

  • Probleming Installing Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 1 to Vista 64bit OS

    Hi There,
Whenever I attempt to install SP1 to Crystal Reports 2008 I am unable to get past the disk space check.  It just continues to display the message below.
"please wait while the installer finishes determining your disk space".
I found this to be an issue on the 64bit OS only because I can install to Vista 32bit no problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    Try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn
Now try to install Crystal reports.
    Regards,

Normally you will be asked to confirm software installation and updates, which is what that window should be for. However, the "Name" is the "User" name as shown in System Preferences > Users & Groups. Is "apple" your User name? If not, try entering what your User name is and then the password that goes with it.

Ati mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Driver for Satellite M30
Hope this works somehow been looking all day long now :(

    Hi,
its your lucky day my friend.
Check this sites and download the drivers you need:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
The drivers are native Nvidia/ATI drivers but the *.inf files (the files where the hardware information and the settings for the cards are listed) were fitted for mobile systems. That means you can install them on your machine and by the way you will get the most actual drivers.

  • Problem Installing AMD Proprietary Driver.

    Hey Guys,
As the title says I am having a problem installing the amd catalyst beta driver. I tried installing it and it completely screwed everything up. Now I have a fresh install of Arch, and the only packages that I have installed apart from xf86-video-ati and xorg are enlightenment, lightdm, gnome, base-devel, and firefox. Im not sure what is wrong. The only thing it mentioned in the log was something about needing 3.8 headers, but if i am not mistaken Arch has 3.12. I also installed it on a linux mint system with 3.11 and it went without any issue. I believe that it is supposed to work on 3.12, but im not sure what I need to get it to install on my system. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for getting back so late. @HalosGhost I have always used the one that came directly from AMD and since this is my first time using Arch i did not know that I would run into problems trying to use it. As far as the --force thing goes. I had a "What the Hell Moment". @Archivist: catalyst-test worked, but my sound via HDMI does not.
    aplay -l shows my HDMI:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    card 1: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I also tried  aplay -D plughw:0,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav and it worked without any error.
I then tried creation an .asoundrc file like the wiki said https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … s_not_work and that did not work either.
