[Athlon64] RS480 NIC not working
I'm having a problem getting the network card to work on my RS480 motherboard in Windows2000. I setup the networking with an assigned IP address but I get no throughput. When I ping my router it only finds it (10ns ping time) once in 10 pings. When I look at the activity monitor it has sent and received bytes close to zero and they seem to reset (never getting above ~7). So, when I use Internet Explorer I can't even load a page. The closest it gets sometimes is getting the correct IP number from the DNS and starting to load the page. I'm about to go out and buy a USB network adapter and see it that will work. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the network card, and un/reinstalled TCIP all to no avail. Any suggestions?
Same trouble as fenmcconnell, except I have Windows XP and I get a "limited or no connectivity" message. It looks like its not getting an address from DHCP. So I've tried staticly assigning an address, but no luck there either.
What's weird is that the network port wasn't even recognized at POST when I first powered on the motherboard. But I figured out I had the riser card plugged in wrong. Once I fixed that then the network card worked immediately. Then I updated the driver to the current MSI Realtek driver and rebooted. After that I had this problem.
So I thought it was related to the Realtek 81xx driver. So I tried using the one that came from MSI on the CD. Then I tried the updated one from Live Update (MSI). Finally I tried the current driver from Realtek. Same problem with each.
I tried manually setting the media rate instead of auto negociate, but that didn't help. I also looked for device IRQ conflicts in Device Manager, but it all looked fine.
I googled Realtek and "limited or no connectivity" message and found a patch from Microsoft for a loopback error relating to SP2.

BTW, I don't have the Windows Firewall on and its a new build so I don't have any spyware yet either. I tried the NETSH WINSOCK RESET from the command line and will try the WinSock XP Fix from http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html when I get home from work today.
What sucks is I know this onboard network card works, but I don't know what broke it.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm having trouble getting my wireless NIC to work.
I have a clean, up-to-date system, no [testing]. I'm using the stock kernel, 2.6.30, which according to the 1000HE wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Asu … 000HE#WiFi), is supposed to work out of the box.
The problem I run into with iwconfig is that it doesn't set an essid. The essid shows as blank, then I run:
iwconfig ra0 essid "my id"
and iwconfig ra0 again shows a blank essid.
I've tried wpa_supplicant, and it just spams CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS indefinitely (my config file is attached).
I've tried wifi radar, and it gives me errors about the network I'm trying to connect to having no AP address.
I've only tried to connect to the one network here that I have access to. It's an unsecured university network with many APs (I think it's called roaming or something?). Once you have an IP leased, you try to go to a website and are automatically forwarded to an authentication login page.

I've got one of these cards and it works fine. I'm running 2.6.31.
I use a wpa_supplicant based connection. I suggest that you do the same, the config file is crap and it doesn't appear to accept iwconfig input.
For netcfg and this card, try netcfg 2.5 which will be out in the next 24 hours. In the meantime, you could configure your networks in a wpa_supplicant config file. Don't use a catch all like above, create a more specific one. -
When setting up converged network in VMM cluster and live migration virtual nics not working

I am having issues setting up converged network in VMM. I have been working with MS engineers to no avail. I am very surprised with the expertise of the MS engineers. They had no idea what a converged network even was. I had way more
experience then these guys and they said there was no escalation track so I am posting here in hopes of getting some assistance.
Everyone including our consultants says my setup is correct.
What I want to do:
I have servers with 5 nics and want to use 3 of the nics for a team and then configure cluster, live migration and host management as virtual network adapters. I have created all my logical networks, port profile with the uplink defined as team and
networks selected. Created logical switch and associated portprofle. When I deploy logical switch and create virtual network adapters the logical switch works for VMs and my management nic works as well. Problem is that the cluster and live
migration virtual nics do not work. The correct Vlans get pulled in for the corresponding networks and If I run get-vmnetworkadaptervlan it shows cluster and live migration in vlans 14 and 15 which is correct. However nics do not work at all.
I finally decided to do this via the host in powershell and everything works fine which means this is definitely an issue with VMM. I then imported host into VMM again but now I cannot use any of the objects I created and VMM and have to use standard
switch.
I am really losing faith in VMM fast.
Hosts are 2012 R2 and VMM is 2012 R2 all fresh builds with latest drivers

Are you using static IP address assignment for those vNICs?
Are you sure your are teaming the correct physical adapters where the VLANs are trunked through the connected ports?
Note; if you create the teaming configuration outside of VMM, and then import the hosts to VMM, then VMM will not recognize the configuration.

[Athlon64] CD / DVD not working properly, Neao K8T800 Pro series.
Hi all,
I purchased a MSI K8t Neo2 motherboard along with a AMD 64 3200+ (socket 939) in the beginning of May.
When i installed the parts in my case I experienced some problems getting windows (which I reinstalled) to detect all the Harddrives i had.
I solved this by putting 3 HDD's on one IDE interface, and 1 on a separate controllercard. on the other IDE interface i put my Sony DRU-700A DVD alone.
This worked, to a certain extent.. When I place a disc in the DVD, windows gets a hizziefit and starts to lag insanely, when it's finally done, it won't autostart the discs i put in, i can't double-click it from My Computer as i get the error:
"F:\
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteprocessMemory request was completed."
Doesn't tell me much.. I then try ro right-click F: and select "exlore", AHA! this works. I get into the disc and i can move around in the foldertrees, but it takes time.. My GOD it takes time...
When i finally reach my destination and try to execute a .exe file, this happens:
"F:\ is not a valid win32 application".
At this point one starts to think: "ok.. i know that.. but the exe-file i tried to start IS..."
NOTE: From time to time i've noticed that it switched between these 2 error messages, i.e i get the "not valid" when trying to start the disc and the "ReadError" when starting a .exe-file, and vice versa.
I have the latest bios, i have tried adding a LG CD-R/W tp the process and tested if that worked, see results here: www.vikholm.se/say_what.gif
I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but i know that CAN'T be right?
I then went into the Device Manager and selected "uninstall" on my Sony DVD, thinking it has to find new hardware on reboot and reinstall it. Windows finds nothing, and i can't seem to get it back again..
Anyways, i noticed that 2 updates to my mobo was avaliable through MSI Live Update, so i choose the newer one and install it, thinking it might solve this problem.
Select reboot -> Click "exit now" on firefox.exe -> run for work as i', late -> come home now just to see that windows did NOT reboot as i got an error code from some exe-file.
Anyways, reboot properly this time and half-way through the boot up it reboots again, and at the loadingscreen where you can see the biosversion and such it says:
"Sec Master drive is not ATAPI compatible
F1 to Resume"
This is my LG CD-R/W. I press F1 and it boots just fine, and i see that my LG is no longer avaliable in My computer.
These are my problems.
To sum things up:
1. Could it be my mobo that is screwed up in the IDE interfaces?
2. Could it be my IDE cables? (i don't have any others to try with =( )
3. I've been in contact with Sony's support, accordign to their firmware testers and producttest programs, my device worked as it should.
4. Anyone have any tips on how to get my Sonydevice back to windows without reinstalling windows? It not, i'll just have to reinstall.
5. If all else failes, can anyone lend me a handgun so i can end my misery?

The promise controller is simply there to add to their Sata Raid ability. It is not for opticals.

Conclusion: According to the documentation, opticals can be connected to the promise controller, at least if they are connected to the SATA-interface.
Own experiments show:
If an optical drive is connected to IDE3, the promise controller detects it correctly. If a bootable media is inserted, it is detected as bootable by the controller BIOS.
An old LD 8240 CD-Writer (only MWDMA2/PIO4 capable) works partly, if attached to IDE3, but there are errors. Playing Audio CDs and DAE generates drop-outs. CD burning results in corrupted data on the media.
If I connect a LG 4163B DVD-Writer, there are no issues concerning CD-playback or DAE. CD-recording was not tried out. The DVD-RAM feature fails, possibly due to driver interference.
This shows, that there at least a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive (PATA) might work on the promise controller, but that also depends on the drive itself.

3COM 3C905-TX NIC not working on Sol8 x86!
Hello all,
I am running an old HP Vectra VL8i 400 Mhz, 128MB ram, 8GB Maxtor IDE HDD,
3COM 3C905-TX NIC on Solaris 8 x86 (Intel Edition). I have been having HUGE
problems getting it to recognize any network interface. At first I had a
linksys LNE-TX100 NIC in it and after trying for days to get it to recognize
the NIC I gave up after finding that several other people had problems with
this NIC also. Thus, off a recommendation on sun's forums, I bought a 3COM
3C905-TX NIC. I installed the NIC today and verified its listed in the
'/boot/solaris/devicedb/master' file. It shows up as 'elxl' (those are L's,
not 1's I believe). I verified this in '/etc/driver_aliases'. Based upon
this and Sun's x86 HCL list which also lists my NIC I should have ZERO
problems.
I added my IP, hostname, and FQDN (dummy FQDN to stop sendmail's errors for
now until I put this box on a real network) to the /etc/hosts file. I then
added '/etc/hostname.elxl0' with my hostname. Next, I edited the
'/etc/netmasks' to include my network number and netmask.
Now, however, whenever I do an 'ifconfig -a', it only shows me 'lo0' the
local loopback and interestingly enough, the inet address for this interface
is 0.0.0.0. I can't ping this or do anything with it. This isn't the
problem though, the real problem is that I can't get it to bring the 'elxl0'
interface up. If I do a 'ifconfig elxl0 plumb' it gives me the error:
'ifconfig: plumb: elxl0: Bad file number'.
Also, on bootup the machine gives the following errors:
--- ifconfig: plumb: elxl0: Bad file number
--- Moving addresses from failed IPv4 interfaces: elxl0
--- Couldn't move, no alternative interface
--- in.rdisc: No interface up
I would REALLY appreciate ANY help on this matter as its incredibly
frustrating. Any advice is welcome...thanks!!

Thanks for your reply. Some cards are not supported by solaris 8.
Try this method.
Solaris 8 does not recognize these newer cards even though the chipsets are
well
known and have well tested, mature drivers in Solaris. This is just because the
vendor and device ID's are not in your /etc/driver_aliases file.
Step 1. Insert the 3COM NIC card in to the system.
Step 2: prtconf -v | grep pci
Example:
prtconf -v shows:
pci8086,7112
pci8086,7113
pci8086,5345
pci10b7,1000 <- 3com
Step 3. In file /etc/driver_aliases, look for the driver that matched the
chipset
on the card. One of them is elxl for the 3com chipset.
Example:
/etc/driver_aliases:

elx "pci10b7,5950"
elxl "pci10b7,9000"
elxl "pci10b7,9001"
elxl "pci10b7,9050"

Step 5. Add the following lines to support the card in Device Configuration

Add the entries in /boot/solaris/devicedb/master file, under PCI
devices
section
Step 6. Run "devlinks".
Step 7. Reboot the system with b -r option.

If I deactivate eth0 or disconnect them from the switch then I can successfully ping from/to both machines via public network eth1.
However, if I plug back eth0 then it looks like it messes up everything and this is what happens:

First please you disable all firewall and disabe SElinux.
Second When you want to ping some machine .You can try use 'ping -I eth0 192.168.1.101'
In fact ,don't recommand the two network adapter cards in the same machine connect the same switch.

I hit this problem at a customer site and can re-produce it in a simple lab. Lab environment: servers:
1x Server 2012 R2 DC and DNS server - DC1 - 10.0.0.1
1x Server 2012 R2 DirectAccess (DA) server - DA1 - 10.0.0.100
Servers are running "Update" (KB2919355) and following DA hotfixes:
KB2929930
KB2966087
I configured DA (via advanced wizard) as follows:
DA and remote access
AD group
directaccess-webprobehost DNA (A) record pointing to 10.0.0.100
behind an edge device (with a single network adapter)
SSL certificate from enterprise root CA issued to directaccess.contoso.com
NLS on remote server using https://nls.corp.contoso.com
DNS: corp.contoso.com = 10.0.0.1; nls.corp.contoso.com = ""
DNS suffix search list = corp.contoso.com
The DNS server validates successfully in the configuration UI.
With this configuration, I get a static IPv6 address of fd79:7a37:cbd9:3333::1/128 assigned to the NIC
The operations status is all green apart from DNS which displays the following error:
"DNS: Not Working Properly"
Error:
None of the enterprise DNS servers fd79:7a37:cbd9:7777::a00:1 used by DirectAccess clients for name resolution are responding. This might affect DirectAccess client connectivity to corporate resources.
Causes:
Enterprise DNS servers fd79:7a37:cbd9:7777::a00:1 are not responding.
I can, however ping fd79:7a37:cbd9:7777::a00:1 (which is the DNS64 translation of 10.0.0.1)
I would like to know what checks are failing as there are no failures in Event Viewer.
I have come across forums where people have the same issue and fix it by specifying the local IP (in this case 10.0.0.100) as the DNS server, however Richard Hicks has confirmed with me that the DNS server should be set to the DNS server, not the DA server's

Win 7 pro 64 bit does not work nice with tv tuners
my win 7 pro 64 bit will not work with three recommened tv tuners, though not specific to 64 bit . I know one works great withmy old 32 bit xp system. all three different recommended tuners crashed my system three times amd informed me the flash player that comes in the software is not compatable with my system. also flash player stand along in my system will not work right all the time. worked so well in my old system? any thoughts on this dilemma. really do not want to return my new diamond tv wonder hd 750 card. otherwise this system blazes very appy with it, thanks.

Adobe Download Assistant not working after bluescreen
I like to get the trial for Photoshop Elements 10 but the ADA is broken:
Under Windows 7 I already used the ADA to download and install Adobe Premiere 10 successfully a week ago.
Then I tried to get Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 but my system crashed with a bluescreen. The computer is fine again but ADA is not working anymore:
- after startup it doesn't list any (!!!) product to download. The list is just empty
- I can enter my username and password and click login. Then the buttons are greyed out and nothing else happens. I have to kill the application with the task manager then.
- I can apply for a new user account but it greys out and gets stuck like as the login.
- The help buttons lead to empty Pages in the web browser.
I tried to uninstall ADA and reinstall it (two times) but the behaviour stays the same.
I tried to find direct download links (the FAQs told me that there should be some) but every download page will use the ADA. I'd be fine with a plain ftp page for the trials. :-)
I'm an IT professional but I've no idea how to get ADA working, wiped from disk to get it reinstalled or to download the trials on another way. Please help.I will try to install at a different location this afternoon.
The other thread handles a different situation: "... the Adobe Download Assistant launches, asks me to sign in ... I get a nice "Welcome, Steve" message ... and a list of related products below with links to download their trials ... The Help link takes me to an Adobe Download Assistant FAQ page ..."
- I cannot sign in and don't get a welcome message.
- I don't see a list of products.
- The help link takes me to an empty page.
BUT: where does the ADA get the list of products from? Is it online or local? If everything is online where I am blocked (sign in, list, help), I'll check the firewall. Perhaps the bluescreen crash changed something. -
Search and Address bar not working.
Hello, I have this problem were whenever I try to type in something into the search or addresys bars, nothing happens. It's like the enter key isn't working. There is not usual picture next to the search bar (the one that shows you what search engine you're using. If it's google it shows a "g" next to the bar). Instead there is just a picture of a blank page as a placeholder. When I try to go in and add a new search engine by managing the search engine list, there is no option to add a new search engine. I have already tried going into the firefox folder on my computer and deleted the formhistory.sqlite file that is the supposed problem. No avail. I have even gone so far to delete and reinstall firefox to my computer. Well, that didn't work either. So I waited until the next update to see if my problem would be fixed THEN. I am currently on firefox 19.0, which is, as of writing, the most current version. I have tried restarting firefox with all addons removed. And for good measure, I deleted anything that ended with ".sqlite" in my firefox folder. I have tried to get the the about:config menu but do not know how considering how my address bar refuses to search. The greatest thing is that my address bar can still remember all the sites I've typed into it before, but for some unknown reason, cannot take me to any of them! I really don't know what to do next. I can only suppose that I could try completely deleting everything firefox has stored on my computer, as I don't know if just uninstalling the program actually did that. Other then my search bar problem, firefox has been acting fairly normally besides a few minor hiccups here and there. I am trying to remember if I downloaded anything before my search bar problems started or not, but it is always a possibility. I did download the firefox beta for windows 8 metro mode but I can't remember if that was before or after firefox started acting up. It's possible considering that softonic thought they were being really nice by including fbdownloader for free with my firefox metro browser. I am now no longer using softonic ever again. But that's all the evidence I can think up right off the tip of my head. Sorry if this was kinda long, and if any of my description isn't clear or make sense please ask and I can try to verify. Also, if I haven't said this already, my search bar is only not working in firefox. Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari are all working fine. Just my luck, I guess. If anyone could help me out, I'd be much obliged. Not being able to use the address bar has been really inefficient. Thank you.

3 Right-click on the keyword.URL setting and select MODIFY from the dropdown menu.

maybe i am wrong but i think the if statement within a view is not working correctly. See code down below.
I would like to use the Hallo World depending on the page attribute isFrame with or without all the neccessary html tags. Therefore i have embedded the htmlb tags in an if statement. But for any reason if isframe is initial it isn't working. It would be great if anybody could help me.

The short answer: your example is <b>NOT</b> going to work. The long answer will probably 5 pages to describe. So first let me rewrite the example so that it could work, and then give a short version of the long answer. Do not be disappointed if it is not totally clear. It is rather complicated. So why does your example not work? Let us start with a simple tag:

You can see that your ENDIF statements are closing IF blocks generated by the BSP compiler. Such a nesting will not work. This is a very short form of the problem, there are a number of variations, and different types of the same problem.
The only way to solve this problem, is probably to put the body into a page fragment and include it like I did above with the duplicate HelloWorld strings. But this duplicates source code. Better is to put body onto a view, that can be processed as required.

E75 messaging application not working
Hi,
I have recently purchased an E75 and at first glance it looks to be very nice. However, now i have run into the problem that messaging is not working properly. The message indicator is telling me that I have 6 new messages. When I try to go menu>>messages the application tries to open but immediately crashes. Also when I try to open the messages directly by clicking on them from the message indicator the same behavior seems to happen.
Has anybody experienced the same? How do I get rid of these messages if I can't open them?

I've found that Nokia Messaging simply gets confused & over-loaded, and gives up.
Try accessing you email account from your computer.
Then, delete all of your messages from your inbox & sent folders.
Basically, purge as much as possible.
Then try accessing it from your E75.
This usually works for me.
