[Athlon64] RS482M4-ILD MCE remote problems

Built a htpc based on the RS482M4-ILD which is working great. The only problem I've got is that when the board is brought out of S3 standby using the MS Media Centre remote, it stops working - its like the USB ports aren't being re-initialised properly, The only way to get the remote working again is to unplug it and re-insert it.
Any ideas?

Known issue with ATI southbridge USB failure in suspend. No fix yet from ATI. Its an ATI problem - its specified in release notes for mb chipset /igp driver

Remote control and MCE remote on Windows

I am having issues with the remote control app on the Tablet S1 and MCE remotes on Windows 7 (64-bit). After learning the buttons for the MCE remote, pressing the same button more than once from the app does not do anything. For example, if I press the Up button the first time, it works fine. But if I press the Up button again, nothing happens. I have verified that the original MCE remote works as expected, and I have also verified that the tablet and the remote control app works with the MCE receiver connected to Ubuntu 11.10. Is anyone else running into this problem? How will the remote control app get updated (via the market or from system update)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ITunes windows short cuts outside of application? / MCE remote?

I've always wanted to know if there was a way to get shortcuts for iTunes from anywhere on windows provided that itunes is running? This is possible on a Mac and when using windows media player / media centre & a media centre remote?
Currently, my Media centre remote works with iTunes, but only when it is the active application (as is the case with shortcuts).
What would be ideal is if i could use my Media centre remote to control iTunes from any application.
Using Win 7 & iTunes 10.5

I use Windows Media Center for HDTV over Digital Cable (via Ceton InfiniTV with a CableCard) and iTunes for music on the PC itself as well as via two AirPort Express devices for whole house music. Every version of iTunes before 10.5 worked great. For reference, I leave iTunes running 24/7 to enable the ability to use the Remote app on my iPhone, this way I can play music from my phone whenever I like and there's no need to go to the media PC to open iTunes first. In any case, as soon as I upgraded to version 10.5 I too had the remote control issue within Media Center and the navigation controls on the remote control ceased to function. I had to close iTunes in order to use the remote control again, which of course defeats the purpose of using it with the Remote app on the iPhone. Thankfully, I was able to locate iTunes version 10.3.1 online for Windows 7 64-bit and after reverting, everything works perfectly again. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does iTunes 10.5.1 resolve this issue??

RS482M4-ILD motherboard and VGA/DVI

Here is my problem :
I've got a MSI RS482M4-ILD motherboard and plugged it to a Plasma TV (42" PDP) with VGA and then on-board DVI.
At first, DVI is only detected by the plasma once Windows XP running, which means that the motherboard doesn't support DVI by default. Is it normal ?
Then, there is a big difference between DVI resolution and VGA. The Plasma manufacturer argues that the native resolution of the plasma is 1280x768. So everything is normal when I use 1280x768 with the VGA output, but it is not possible by default when I use the DVI outpout (resolutions offered : 640x480, 800x600, 852 x 480 and 1024x768). Each of these resolutions works fine, but 1280x768 is not available. Then I used provided ATI utility to force all possible resolutions and I chose 1280x768. But the image was not fully displayed. I mean I had to scroll right and left with the mouse to see all the screen.
What can I do (update drivers, etc.) ?

I managed to set the DPD display to 1280x720 using the 720p option in HDTV plasma display but now, the image is not correct. The output screen from the PC is a the center of the image and there is a black band around. How to make it fit all the screen ?

ITunes interferes the use of MCE Remote

Hi There,
I am using a computer as a Windows Mediacenter. (Windows 7)
Everytime, iTunes is open, i cannot use the STOP, FORWARD or BACK buttons on my MCE Remote.Eventhough MCE is on top of all other windows, i can tel iTunes is open because these buttons no longer work.
What can this be?
(this is anoying because of my other problem: iTunes keeps opening itsself)

Msi 7191 - RS482M4-ILD cannot support pciex V 2.0 cards

I have recently purchased a MSI-7191 RS482M4-ILD board which runs and works fine with the on-board Graphics. When I have tried to install a Nvidia 8400GS (512mb) or GT220 (1gb) neither will work correctly in both win7 and Win XP professional. The card will appear in device manager but in 'Properties' has the message:
'Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)'
I read again and again about Pciex V2.0 cards being backwards compatible with Pciex ver 1.0a slots in motherboards, but I gotta say this is not what I am seeing here...
Any ideas to get the Nvidia cards working or do I have to try and find a Pciex V1.0a Graphics card? Unfortunately it also really needs shader model 3.0. How about Radeon cards, do you guys think these might actually be recognized properly and work?

If this is just about the HD Audio controler, then I'm positive that the good pepole behind a Radeon Bios Editor could come up with way to disable it and then things will work as they should.

I encountered same problem - MSI GeForce 210 did notwork at all in Sapphire A9RX480 mobo. GFX card is PCIE v2.0, mobo is PCIE v1.0a ... Most other cards work - I tried PNY 6800GS, POV 7300GT, POV 8600GT ... moderator uddarts from PCperspective forum tried Galaxy GTX 650 and all these worked fine... So definitively a graphic card issue I think.

Getting a hp mce remote for touchsmart 300-1125

I want to add a remote control to my HP Touchsmart 300-1125 and am thinking to order the 5070-5600 HP remote (random link: http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-COMPAQ-5070-5600-Media-Center-Remote-Control-/330414657906#ht_805wt_911).
I wonder about two things:
1) The IR Receiver *is* built-in, isn't it? (Device Manager lists a functional eHome IR device)
If in doubt, where should I look for the IR receiver sensor on the case?
2) I think the 5070-5600 remote lists as being made for the older IQ series of Touchsmarts. Will it work with the newer 300 series?

All MCE remotes from the past 8 years send out the same codes. There are a few newer HP specific codes, but 95% of the buttons are exactly the same, grab a 5 year old Gateway MCE remote, it'll work just the same as a new HP one!

RS482M4-ILD: How to boot from a USB Drive? Can't find the option in BIOS!!!

I believe you need to to into the BIOS and change it to legacy mode to be able to boot from any other device than the hard drive.

MSI RS482M4-ILD and s-video out

I am planning on buying the RS482M4-ILD. Can I output video to my TV with s-video and still use the monitor at the same time? I am not concerned with extented desktop, I just want the video window out to my TV. Is the TV out feature with this board comparable to an external video card?

Super Talent Memory Issue - RS482M4-ILD

I just purchased an RS482M4-ILD board with 2 - 1 Gigabyte Super Talent DDR400 D32PB1GJ DIMMs. System is stable but the boot messages state that the DRAM clock is at 333mhz. The data sheet for the Super Talent states that the DIMMs runs at 2.6v. I read in couple of places on this forum that only 2.5v DIMMs can be used.
Am I using the wrong memory? ???
Which memory can I use for this mobo? (Make and part# will help immensely) ???
If I use slots 1 & 3 does the memory default to dual channel? ???

What processor are you using? All older 130nm cores require 4 sticks to run at DDR 333. You will atleast have to run at a 2T timing with 4 sticks and a 90nm Venice or San Diego core.

Struggling with integrated video on RS482M4-ILD

I have a RS482M4-ILD mobo installed in a new build PC- works great in an Antec Aria case.
I did a clean installation of XP home SP2. Everything went together fine and I used Live update to grab the right drivers - however when trying to install the VGA driver I get an error.
It identifies a the correct drivers, but after downloading reports "record not find on msi db".
To get around this I am using drivers downloaded from the ATI site, but performance is very poor, about 2 frames a second in 3Dmark. Games are unplayable.
I have written to MSI support in the UK using the web form, but have had no response in 2 weeks.
I have unistalled the drivers using the ATI utility and retried these and the MSI ones several times but with no improvement. Basically, I tink the 3D hardware acceleration is not working.
Any ideas, anyone?

There is no reason not to use the ATi drivers, the ones you get from MSI are written by ATi and just hosted on the MSI server for download.
If you check the video adapter's info in the device manager, is the driver vendor ATi or Microsoft?
If it isn't ATI then the driver was not installed and your working with a default fail safe Microsoft driver that doesn't suport anything.
This sould be the proper driver.

Can my Windows MCE Remote control iTunes?

I have an iPhone so I want to use iTunes as much as possible to make myself as familar witht he program that I can.
I would really love if my Windows MCE Remote can control it.
I used the up and down arrows and it seemed to scroll through the song list, but I couldnt pause the song from the remote.
So can I get it to fully work with iTunes?
Can I even use the MCE on the desktop like a mouse?

MCE remote with Vista Ultimate T60

Hello there. new to this community and want to see if it can help with this question.
At the moment im tryin to get my IR reciver on the t60 laptop to work with media center in vista ultimate. I have my mce remote that i used with my xp mce pc. it is an HP MCE remote.
no longer have the pc. just a laptop.
and well i want to use hte remote with Media center in vista when feeling lazy.
I have tried to make it detect and it wont communicate. the IR is enabled and works with my old PDA and the remote works on my roomies HP laptop.
Any ideas? random thoughts???

How about Value Added Package? There is a new version available. Try to update this too.
But back to the basics the Qosmio F30-131 belongs to the PQF30E series. Did you choose the drivers for this series?
However, this notebook was delivered and preinstalled with Win MCE. Possible this remote control works only with XP version of Windows Media Center.

Does the RS482M4-ILD come with SPDIF connector?

I am considering purchasing the RS482M4-ILD motherboard. MSI product line shows that the SPDIF connector is optional....but it does not say which model it is optional for...IL, 480M2, etc. It would be very helpful if someone who has purchased this model could verify what cables and adapters this motherboard comes with. If someone has another similiar board - IL, 480M2, etc, that comes with a SPDIF, I would appreciate input from you as well.
