ATI 1900 - any other sources?
I didn't want to wait for the LONG delay on my MP when upgrading to the 1900XT and I also like to have a backup vid card in the draw at all times. So I ordered my machine with the default nVidia 7300. Now I was wondering why ATI has the 1900XT in stock on their own website yet Apple delays shipping for 5-6 weeks I think if you upgrade your system config.
Is this a MAC EDITION ATI 1900XT ??
Or will any 1900XT work on my MP?
I waiting out the X1900 delay, but I am fairly certain it will turn to be the right decision.
Vista may support EFI when it ships. But finding an off the shelf EFI equipped video card is the real problem with what you propose. The only workable solution at the moment is to buy a 7300 equipped Mac Pro and buy the X1900 upgrade from Apple later.
Word of note to all of us waiting - most Apple products do require a bit of patching and tuning up over the first 3 months of their lives to squeeze the most performance out of them. I urge everyone to be aware of this, and be patient. There is sometimes a price for being an early adopter.

Although with many hacks there could be some sort of workaround that advanced users may employ when attempting to circumvent the measures, such as the ability to use Firefox in safe-mode and then install add-ons, or even run a browser from a memory stick.
You may well get a better answer on some other forum. This mozillazine forum deals with some coding issues, not sure but they may consider your sort of question on topic.

As far as I know, the iPad cannot presently playback a full length movie from a DVD or any other source. Are there any plans to add such a capability to the iPad in the future?

Yes Vudu streams. iTunes does not. If you buy or rent a movie on your computer through the iTunes store, then you are legally entitled to transfer that movie to your digital device as long as that device is under the Same Apple ID used to download it to the computer, and is authorized to view the content. Usually this is the case if your device is synced with iTunes on the computer This is legal and covered by the terms of use of the iTunes store.
If your rent a movie on your computer you can also transfer it to your iPad but it will be removed from the computer as rentals can only exist in one place at a time. When the rental period expires the movie will be automatically removed from your computer or device, wherever it is when the rental period expires.
If you buy a movie on your iPad these can be transferred to your computer using the Transfer Purchases button on iTunes on your computer while the iPad is connected to it. Rentals on iPads or other mobile device cannot be transferred and must be watched in the iPad or device that download them.
All of these methods through the iTunes store download the complete movie to the device or computer, so no internet connection is required for watching at a later date.
Rentals have a 30 day life as long as they haven't begun to be watched. Once the movie has been started then it has a 48 hour expiry period. That is you must finish watching the rented movei within 48 hours of rental as after that it is removed from the device. You can watch it as many times as you want in that period of time though.

Adobe Flash Player 10, when installed, closes the whole computer when it is used to play any clip from U Tube or other source. I uninstalled it and there was no further trouble but, of course, I cannot view the clip. If I reinstall it the same problem persists. I have contacted my 'computer guru' but his comment is that many of his clients have the same problem but it appears to be a problem with Adobe however many other friends have put in the version 10 Flash Player and have no problems. I do not appear to have any other problems with the computer such as viruses etc and it is scanned very day for such items. On both IE8 and Firefox. Win 7 32 bit on IBM T42 - 1GB ram.
Old laptop I know but the 10.1.x.x Flash Players worked just fine. Problem started with 10.2.152.26 flash player.
Now BBC TV live and iPlayer work just fine, however YouTube does not - audio but no video. Just a black rectangle where the video should be.
Right click to get the menu and "settings" is greyed out. However select the pop-out option and the video plays. Right click on the pop-out and "settings" is available. So deselect "enable hardware acceleration", close the pop-out and refresh the window (F5) and now YouTube videos play. Switch hardware acceleration back on and now they don't.

Can I get books from any other source than iBooks and read them in iBooks?
I find that the iBooks Store list of titles is somewhat limited and some popular titles are not available. Can I purchase an ebook from another source, download it and then read it in iBooks? I have the iPad 2' my daughter has a Kindle but when it comes to getting books to read she has it all over me and my iPad.
No, eBooks tend to have digital rights management on them so can usually only be read in a store's own app i.e. iBooks in the iBooks, Amazon's books in the Kindle app, Barnes & Noble in the Nook app. iBooks will open DRM-free ePub books.
As there is a Kindle app for the iPad then you have the advantage over your daughter, because you can read Amazon's, Apple's and Barnes & Noble's ebooks (you just need separate apps). -

File Data Source: does not support any other host except LOCALHOST?
I am using US 1.0.3.
This exercpt is from the OTN iLearn Subscribed course titled "Oracle9i UltraSearch New Features" on operating system file access:
"The file protocol is used only for the machine that launches the crawler. You can not specify any other host for this kind of URL, except LOCALHOST."
Does it mean that US 1.0.3 can not be used to search other file servers on the network? For example, we have US 1.0.3 installed on a server S1 which is on a network with other servers (e.g. S2). I want to use US to search files in the folder myDir on server S2. So I tried to create a file data source with this URL:
file://\\s2\myDir\
But I got this error:
Invalid file protocol URL: file//\\s2\myDir\
Hostname of the file URL "file://\\s2\myDir\ is not "localhost".
My question:
(1) Can US 1.0.3 search files on a different server than the one US is running on?
(2) If so, how to specify the URL using the above example for it to work?
(3) If not, how about the newer version of US, 9.2 or 9.02? Can they be used to search files on other network servers/drives?
(4) If no to question (3), is there any plan to support this in the future version of US?
My comment: Not able to search other servers really limits the userfulness of US. I really hope Oracle will consider adding this capability.

Since I posted my previous question, I have read on the 1.0.3 online help that we can define remote crawlers to crawl "on a remote machine other than the Oracle Ultra Search database". So I assume this is how to make US to search on other servers. In the online documentation it also includes the following paragraph on "Remote Crawler Profiles Page":
"Use this page to view and edit remote crawler profiles. A remote crawler profile consists of all parameters needed to run the Ultra Search crawler on a remote machine other than the Oracle Ultra Search database. A remote crawler profile is identified by the hostname. The profile includes the cache, log, and mail directories that the remote crawler shares with the database machine. "
The Remote Crawler Profiles Page, however, displays only remote crawlers already defined and the page seems to be used just for editing the porfiles of these defined remote crawlers.
My questions:
(1) How do I create the remote crawlers and defines the profiles in the first place?
(2) Where can I find more documentation on remote crawlers?
(3) Once the remote crawlers are set up, how do I specify the file URLs for each remote crawler?
(4) With US9.02 or 9.2, does remote crawler work the same as in 1.0.3, or are there any enhancements?

When using panasonic remote2 app, videos shot on iPad appear upside down on the television. This does not happen with videos from other sources. Any suggestions?

After the second NVidia 8800 GT burning up within a month, I am thinking of replacing it with an ATI 1900. Any thoughts about that?
The first card burned up because it was a cheap, refurbished card from someone who hawks them on eBay. I thought it was a deal for only $160 and paid dearly for that. The card lasted only a few days. I received a replacement for that one from the supplier and that one lasted three weeks before it died. It didn't burn up like the first one, but shorted out.
I had the computer diagnosed by an Apple-certified shop when I had the problems with the first 8800 GT to make sure it's the card and not another part of the computer. This test revealed bad memory on the card as the problem. Since the second card grew on the same tree I expect it to have the same disease. The computer starts up fine without the card and shuts down instantly when I insert it into the slot.
I did some researching for the ATI HD 4870 and found it to be what I need; particularly that its mini DisplayPort works on a Mac Pro 1.1, which the one on the 5770 doesn't do. The local Apple Store has it in stock, so I'll pick one up later today. -
G5 ATI 1900 Green an Purple Video in FCP

I've got this weird problem it looks like this

in my video windows on FCP. I Have OS 10.5.5, QT 7.5.5. It's a G5 with an ATI 1900 video card. The strange thing is if I click on the finder the issue goes away but then if I click on the FCP screens it comes back. I've trashed prefs, done cahce cleaning, repaired permissions.
I've been searching this problem out and have seen no recent (Since last week 10/9 ish) reports.
Any solutions? Please advise.

Does not join to any fact source issue in 10g

I am getting below issue while compiling rpd.
Logical Dimension Table Dim-XX has a source xx_aa that does not join to any fact source.
Let me describe situation here.
In physical layer , i have one xx_v table . there is no join condition physical layer. But in BMM layer we have created two logical tables for single xx_v table and providing join in bmm layer. When am compiling it i'm getting an error.
The one which i have using current rpd, same rpd in production with out any warnings(Logical Dimension Table Dim-XX has a source xx_aa that does not join to any fact source) and they don't have any logical level mapping in content tab. But i am using same rpd in dev instance getting warnings.

I am getting this in Dev instance only but not in Production. But one rpd can be used in dev and production instances.

My iPhone is from the US and I've had it for nearly two years. I'm with optus. I know that this is not allowed to be discussed but my phone was bought jailbroken. Neither my father nor I had any idea what this meant at the time and would not have bought it if we did know. My wifi connectivity worked fine up until a month ago when it cut out for no reason at all. Since then it cannot connect to any wifi sources. Also, my phone has recently been cutting out of service 1-2 times everyday. I understand that this may due to the fact that my phone is jailbroken. However is there anyway I could unjailbreak my phone? I'm not sure if it is factory unlocked because the iPhone wasn't bought from Apple even though it is legit. So is there really anything I could do to fix my phone? It's running on IOS 4.0.1.

On my iPod touch (5th generation) it won't let me watch any video's off any Internet sources eg Facebook twitter and YouTube. When I click on the video it just comes up saying 'this operation could not be continued'?

I bought Apple TV 3rd generation a couple days ago. It was no problem in the first day.
I freshly installed iTunes on my computer and tried to learn about Home Share. Next day,it was locked this screen and I cannot move any other screen. The LED light on the front is glitting in fast. I've tried,
1. Holding 'Menu' and 'down' butten for reset.
2. Disconnecting power cable
3. Turning off the router
After that if I reconnect to TV, it shows same.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)
