ATI Catalyst 4.10 drivers out

http://www.ati.com/
Released a couple of days ago.
(sorry for the O/T post, but not everyone reads the other forums)

You need to think like a programmer not like a mathematician
4.10 the decimal is not a decimal is could just as easily be 4/10
i.e. the four point one you see is actually four point ten

Firefox 6.0.1 causes extreme problems with ATI Catalyst 10.x drivers on a Win7 x64 system. Took me quite awhile to identify, but when I roll back to Firefox 6.0, no problems. Once Firefox recognizes this and reinstalls the 6.0.1 update then severe display driver problems occur causing very erratic display behavior and ultimately rendering the system inoperative. The problem appears to occur within a minute or two after Firefox has been opened and it occurs even if Firefox has been subsequently closed prior to the actual event taking place. I have attempted this 6 times just to ensure that the problem was associated with the 6.0.1 update.

  • ATI Catalyst 11.3 Drivers - AVOID Using With Photoshop CS5

I recently downloaded and installed ATI's latest drivers - Catalyst 11.3 - from their web site.
In testing with Photoshop, I found these drivers have blocked Photoshop's ability to actually do OpenGL drawing in Normal and Advanced modes, even though the Enable OpenGL Drawing setting is active and checked.
I don't know if this affects all cards. I have an ATI Radeon HD 5670 card, and another user has reported the problem against a Radeon 4650.
If you have an ATI card and Catalyst 11.2 or earlier drivers, you may wish to avoid upgrading to Catalyst 11.3 at this time.
As a workaround, if you have already upgraded to 11.3, you can restore OpenGL functionality by choosing Edit - Preferences - Performance, clicking the [Advanced Settings...] button, then choosing Mode:  Basic.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads-up Noel. I'm using a 5850 with Catalyst 11.2 and I just noticed that they moved to 11.3... I was pondering if I should bother to update or not - having read your post, I've reached my conclusion!
Have you reported this to ATI?

  • ATI Catalyst 4.8 drivers

I am using the MSI 9800pro and also LiveUpdate3 to update the drivers and bios. Ive noticed that the catalyst version on LiveUpdate3 (in display/prop/adv) is using catalyst 4.3. Does anyone know whether they will be updating it soon?

I am very knowledged when it comes to actually putting together a system. I researched the internet and even took a class on computer repair simply because i never do things half fast. This was the very first computer i ever built and it was a breeze. Very successful and stable.
The problem is knowing the importance of updating the drivers and bios, i got this board in part, due to the liveupdate feature, besides the fact that all the reviews of it were awesome.
Anyways, i did this in an attempt to not have to worry about actually learning how to update manually (half fast thinking). I suppose I should learn on my own so i dont have to rely on LiveUpdate3 and wait till they get around to it.
Back to internet researching I suppose.
Does anyone have any suggestions on good readings on the how to's of updating bios and drivers and such.
Geez, by the time im done with the project of building my own computer, I can earn a living from it.

  • Probs with ATI Catalysts Drivers

I’m currently using ATI Catalyst Drivers 6.14.10.6404 (3.9) for my ATI Radeon 9600xt.
If I upgrade to the latest ATI or Omega Drivers (4.7 I think), my card crashes and is very unstable.
    my current graphics settings are:
    enabled VPU recover
    fast write is on
    AGPx8
Why does 3.9 work and 4.7 not work, I have only had this problem since changing to this board.
    Any help appreciated.

Well I hope it works for you engrrowl!  I was installing a slipstreamed version of XP with SP2.  But that sure didn't help me.  I would randomly have my screen corrupt with my 9700.  And that stupid card has given me headaches since I got an LCD.  So driver incompatibility used to make my screen go black all the time.  It would then revert to normal (maybe!).  But there were many times I had to shutdown by the keyboard and disconnect the DVI cable to get it to work again.  And the LCD is a Samsung so it's not cheap.
I broke down the other night and when I had to reinstall WinXP from scratch I reverted to an older GF4.  This morning I ordered a Geforce 6800, and it will "upgrade" fine.  But if I tried to go from an ATI to an Nvidia I would have had to reload my OS again.    So it worked out for me.
But it's strange that switching video cards solved all my "issues".  That and the fact that I've never really like ATI's drivers means I will never get another of their cards.

  • ATI Catalyst Control Center is not loading with the latest drivers. Help!!!

I have installed latest ATI drivers from Lenovo 8.712. After that ATI Catalyst Control Center is not loading. The icon is present, when I click display properties. But when I click it, nothing happens. How can I downgrade to the previous version?
And another question: I have a docking station and 2 monitors. One of the monitors with DVI connection is working fine. Is there any way to disable laptop screen and enable second monitor through analog D-SUB.
    Thank you in advance.

Let me add. Already tried everything: battery is switched to High Performance, Windows XP service pack 3, T500

  • AutoUpdate/Ati Catalyst Broken!

AutoUpdate/Ati Catalyst Broken!? When using AutoUpdate here are some things I had to do to get it working:
) installed standard Creative drivers for my X-FI Titanium 2.7.007
    it worked
    2)? installed ATI Catalyst 9.0
    it stopped working.
    3) by mistake I let Windows Update install its WHQL Creative driver
    AutoUpdate started working
used the other shortcut for AutoUpdateA.exe to get updates for Creative products in windows 7 64, and it worked everytime to reinstall the Creative 2.7.007
    4) three weeks later I installed Catalyst 9.2 drivers, and immediately after reboot, AutoUpdate is broken.
Windows 7 Action Center reports errors with Creative AutoUpdate.
If I delete Creative drivers using CTZAPP, Windows Update upon reboot will install its own update to Creative's drivers......... I reinstall Creative 2.7.007 and Creative AutoUpdate still works.
    5) installed ATI Catalyst and it is broken again. The Catalyst installation breaks it everytime. Reinstalling Windows Update version of Creative drivers, uninstalling those and installing Creative's several times usually fixes AutoUpdate. Within a few days, Autoupdate will be broken.
Anybody else have the issue with Catalyst 9.0 to 9.2 and Creative AutoUpdate?
Keep in mind, this is not my "new cause" of the week. I just did a clean format a week or so ago, and I am trying to duplicate the problems others are having with AutoUpdate. About 40-45% of users have ATI cards I would guess and I am trying to figure out if this is a common thing with about half of the Creative users. We install Creative drivers and go along for a few weeks, as many people always say, and then something goes wrong.......A new Catalyst is released about once a month or every six weeks.

#Re: AutoUpdate/Ati Catalyst Broken!B <div class="lia">"" try and just uninstall the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and not the actual video drivers. Its the CCC (the little red "ATI" box in your task manager on the lower right) that is causing this problem. You will still have accelerated video with the drivers installed but not the special ATI utility to configure them. Use the built-in Windows 7 advanced graphics utility when you right click on the desktop (right-click and choose "Screen Resolution"). Inside that window is a link called "Advanced settings" which will let you do the same functions as the CCC does without the CCC's interference.
    I hope this hel
    ps.
Well this is not a good solution as you will loose advanced settings for your graphic card.

  • Arch linux doesn't boot after installing AMD ATI Catalyst

I have a laptop which has a integrated graphic card intel 4th generation (4600) and an AMD ATI R9 m265x (hybrid Intel/AMD graphics card) so I have just installed AMD ATI Catalyst proprietary ones by following
    AMD Catalyst ArchWiki.
I have used "Installing from the unofficial repository" method so in my pacman.conf I have added below entry for [catalyst-stable]:
    [catalyst-stable]
    Server = http://catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/catalyst/$arch
    ## Mirrors, if the primary server does not work or is too slow:
    #Server = http://70.239.162.206/catalyst-mirror/repo/catalyst/$arch
    #Server = http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archlinux-catalyst/repo/catalyst/$arch
    #Server = http://mirror.hactar.bz/Vi0L0/catalyst/$arch
Then I have update pacman's database and install below packages:
    catalyst-hook
    catalyst-utils-pxp
    lib32-catalyst-utils-pxp
(No need to install catalyst-total-pxp as I have installed catalyst-utils-pxp)
After installing it, I have configured the driver, configuring X using below command:
    # aticonfig --initial
In order to use PowerXpress support I have installed catalyst-utils-pxp package plus additional lib32-catalyst-utils-pxp.
To perform a switch into Intel's IGP I have also installed the mesa-libgl  package and Intel's drivers: xf86-video-intel  and intel-dri .
I have enable the automatic update by enabling the catalyst-hook.service with below commands since it automatically rebuilds the fglrx modules while the system shuts down or reboots (so I haven't to do it manually each time kernel is updated using Catalyst-generator):
    # systemctl enable catalyst-hook
    # systemctl start catalyst-hook
And finally I have blacklisted radeon module by creating "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklisted.conf" file which content is:
    blacklist radeon
and also I have ensured that fglrx line is added in "/etc/modules-load.d/Catalyst.conf" file.
To avoid problems, I have rebuilt the fglrx module by doing (I know it is not necessary as it is done by catalyst-hook):
    catalyst_build_module all
Once I reboot, arch linux does not boot. Last lines printed out are below and then it freezes:
Starting temp files linker to catalyst...
    Starting Catalyst event Daemon...
[ OK ] Started Catalyst event Daemon
Starting Catalyst's fglrx kernel' module builder...
[ OK ] Started temp files linker for catalyst.
[ OK ] Started Catalyst's fglrx kernel' modue builder.
[ OK ] Started gnome Display manager.
[ OK ] Started Network manager.
    [ OK ] Reached target Multi-User system.
[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface.
[ OK ] Reached target Network.
I have tried to put nomodeset as a kernel parameter but it does not work. Also, after reading ArchWiki, I have noticed that it is recommended to don't do this as I am using catalyst-utils-pxp because intel driver needs it so I have removed nomodeset parameter from kernel but It continues not working.
    Any ideas?
    Package versions:
    Kernel version 3.17.6-1-ARCH
    catalyst-hook 14.12-1
    catalyst-utils-pxp 14.12-1
    lib32-catalyst-utils-pxp 14.12-1
    xorg-server 1.16.2.901-1
    xf86-video-intel 2.99.916-3
Last edited by toni (2014-12-13 19:38:38)

FInally I managed to boot arch linux.
    I had to downgrade xorg-server from 1.16.2.901-1 to 1.15.2-1.
It seems there is a problem with Catalyst 14.12-1 and xorg-server 1.16.2.901-1.
Also I had to replace desktop manager from gdm to lightdm as gdm raises segmentation faults using xorg-server versions 1.16.2.901-1 and 1.15.2-1.
Finally I had to add an entry in pacman.conf:
    [xorg115]
    Server = http://catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/xorg115/$arch
    ## Mirrors, if the primary server does not work or is too slow:
    #Server = http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archlinux-catalyst/repo/xorg115/$arch
    #Server = http://mirror.hactar.bz/Vi0L0/xorg115/$arch
    Then performs following actions:
    1)  # pacman -Syuu catalyst-hook catalyst-utils-pxp
    2) Uninstall all the packages xf86* such as xf86-video-intel, xf86-input-evdev,  xf86-input-synaptics, etc.
    3) Install the packages uninstalled in step 2 and install them again using xorg115 repo, for example, # pacman -S xorg115/xf86-video-intel xorg115/xf86-input-evdev xorg115/xf86-input-synaptics
I have put a comment here.

  • Embarrassing problem with ATI HD 5850 (Noise + Drivers)

Hi all. First of all let me warn you that I'm French so sometimes my english will probably be inaccurate.
I experience some problems with my graphic card, a MSI ATI Radeon HD 5850, my screen is a Samsung Syncmaster 2233rz.
The drivers I got with my box was the 9.12 version (something like that).
Here are the games I installed :
    Quake 2
    Quake 4
    Quake Live
    Killing Floor
    Painkiller
    Bioshock
    Fear
    Fear 2
    Starcraft
I did some tests with some of them.
With the basic drivers for the CD of the box :
Quake 2 : Doesn't appear in fullscreen mode, or with awful colors, but if I put the opengl option in the video settings then it's ok.
Quake 4 : Seems alright, but I had to choose a particular resolution or the game would just appear in a small windows in the center of the screen.
Starcraft : The game is horrible, appears in a small window in the upright corner of the screen and with terrible colors.
Quake Live : Seems ok but difficult to find a good resolution so that the image takes the whole screen.
    Fear 2 : Seems alright...
Now here comes what disturbs me :
Fear : Horrible sound when I enter the menu that comes from the graphic card. Like a whistling sound, like a teapot getting hot.
Painkiller : Same horrible sound, even louder.
This sound was terrible and I wanted to get the window streched out so that Starcraft and other games would appear in fullscreen mode automatically (I couldn't enable it in ATI Catalyst).
    So I installed drivers 10.6 :
Quake Live : Problem with some colors, I heard 10.5 and 10.6 wasn't compatible with Quake Live...
    Okay...
    So I installed 10.4 :
Possibility to make the screen strech in the Catalyst menu so Starcraft was ok.
Fear : Terrible sound in the menu and game + the game crashes (frozen screen) after 30 seconds of gaming.
Painkiller : Terrible sound in the menu, didn't even play.
Quake 4 : Was pretty much okay, only little annoying sound, but crashes after 30 seconds of gaming (same as Fear).
    Quake Live : Ok.
Quake 2 : Was pretty much okay, I could play in fullscreen with the opengl thing.
    Fear 2 : All seems ok ( !!!!????).
So...I was pissed off because of Fear and Quake 4 crashes.
Then I went back to the 9.12 version :
Quake 4 : Unlaunchable (LOL, it was ok before I installed 10.6 and 10.4...?????????????????????)
Quake 2 : Impossible to go in OpenGl mode (Was possible previously...?????????????????????)
Fear : Horrible sound but the game doesn't crash it seems.
Fear 2 : Seems ok (good game ^^)
Starcraft : The game is horrible, appears in a small window in the upright corner of the screen and with terrible colors. -> Impossibility to activate the automatic stretching again it seems.
Painkiller : Horrible sound, didn't try to play.
    Quake Live : Ok.
What can I do ? I'm currently downloading the 10.1 patch. I want to play all the games, not 3 out of 10 with each patch,
and what is this horrible noise my graphic card seems to do when I play some games (not even all...) ? I try to put the fans at maximum with ATI Overdrive (smthing like that) and that sound wasn't here, so where does it comes from...that's a mistery.
If somebody can be of any help I'll be really happy. I have no problem with the sound if that doesn't mean that the card has a problem and will probably explode one day, but the crashing sound and OpenGl problems and all...
What would you advise to that I get a perfect intallation of the 10.1 version ?
    P.S : Thanks, of course !

I just stopped the test because it was 52 minutes already...
I did the test with render open GL 3, now I'm going to do it with open Gl 2
    I chose full screen 1680 x 1050 and MSAA 8x
Maximum temp : 64°, mini 44°, it stayed between 60 and 63 in general.
    Average fps 3xx, maximum 41x, mini 12x.
Well your VGA is fine then
    Quote
Now here is what I experience when I play those games :
Quake 4 : Crash after 30 seconds - 1 minute of playing, grey screen with green bars or just frozen screen. I have to alt + tab and use ctrl + alt + del to close it.
FEAR : Huge noise from the graphic card in the menus, like a teapot whistling, and screen freezes after 30 seconds of playing : alt + tab -> The display driver AMD driver has stopped responding but have been recovered blablabla".
Bioshock : After the intro movie, I hear the sound but the screen is black permanently, I have no other solution than reseting my PC.
Painkiller :  Huge noise from the graphic card in the menus, like a teapot whistling, and screen freezes after 30 seconds of playing : alt + tab -> The display driver AMD driver has stopped responding but have been recovered blablabla".
Fear 2 : All seems alright.
    Starcraft : Dito.
    Quake Live : Dito.
    Quake 2 : Dito.
    Killing Floor : Dito.
Look for latest game patches, try different VGA drivers if needs too.
    It's not hardware issue.

For the record, I have an ATI Radeon Mobility X1400.
    Hey,
I have exactly the same problem (Radeon 9700 Mobility here). My native resolution is 1400x1050 and it used to work just fine but the newest driver maxes out at 1280x1024 (as reported by xrandr).
    Shame ATI can't write drivers.
Thanks for posting the old packages.
    Best,
    Philipp
Me too. Normally I use 1440x900 resolution, but after updating, my resolution is totally wrong. Thanks for the packages!

  • ATI catalyst 11.3-1 + Xserver 1.9.4

First off, i dont think i am a noob, but still pretty unexpired so sorry if stuff don't make sense, or if i post in the fail forumsection.
I have just reinstalled Arch because my root directory was about to blow over. So i did. Unfortonatly the newest catalyst and xorg didnt work, or i am just stupid but when i installed Arch fist(a month ago i think) X and catalyst worked right away. So i think that there is a compatiblety problem with the newest versions. I really need the catalyst driver as the opensource doesn't support the newest radeon's very good in term of 3d.
So here is about what i did.
i had allready compiled(if makepkg does that) the catalyst kernel module and catalyst-utils from AUR(maybe thats the problem?) so i just installed them and then the xorg stuff.
as i run startx i get some errors:
EE failed to load "ati" "vesa" "fbdev" no drivers available.
    fatal server error:
    no screens found
this was allready the second try, on the one before this i installed & reinstalled the opensource and the catalyst alot, there i got him to find the catalyst, but still X didnt work.
are either X or catalyst just not compatible or did i something wrong?

  • [SOLVED] ATI Catalyst / Xorg issue with Multihead (3monitor)

i'm having problems for a long time, with different versions of the ATI Catalyst driver and Xorg,
right now i'm using this versions,
    catalyst-hook 11.2-2
    catalyst-utils 11.2-1
    lib32-catalyst-utils 11.2-1
    xorg-server 1.9.4.901-1
    xorg-server-common 1.9.4.901-1
    xorg-server-utils 7.6-2
the catalyst package are from the catalyst server recommended by the Arch Wiki
    http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/catalyst/x86_64
the problem that i have is that when i try to pass from one monitor to another, when
i pass to the 3rd one the X crashes, this happen always with the same monitor no matter what.
here is the backtrace from the startx logs,
    Backtrace:
