ATI Display Extensions for 1Ghz PowerBook

Hi, I did not receive a copy of the Install & Restore DVD with my PowerBook 1Ghz, however Apple was kind enough to provide me with a retail copy of 10.3.3 & 9.2.2 install DVD/CD.
I've currently installed OS9 from the retail CD, and although it boots the PowerBook, the ATI Graphic Acceleration Extension does not load (there's a red X against it during startup), and as a result, hardware acceleration is disabled for all OS9 games.
Apple advises me that I need the original OS9 "ATI Display Update" extension from the Restore DVD for hardware acceleration to work, but they don't have a copy lying around with them anymore.
Could someone kindly stuff & email it (better still, email all the ATI extensions that get installed) to me at [email protected]?

Hi, Hemant. I have the same 1GHz Titanium Powerbook you have, with a bootable OS 9 installed from the original Install/Restore DVD that came with it (the DVD installs OS X 10.2.3 and OS 9.2.2). I've just bundled all the OS 9 extensions whose names contain "ATI" into a .sit archive and emailed them to you.
I'm not 100% certain that this group of extensions is all you need (other items could be required for these to work properly, but if so, I don't know what those items are). This will give you something to test, at least. Good luck!

2GB RAM too much for 1Ghz Powerbook?

In order to speed up my G4 17" 1 Ghz Powerbook, especially for Photoshop Elements, I upgraded to 2GB RAM. The Crucial Memory Scanner said that was the max allowable (although I ended up buying Samsung memory from an eBay dealer). My computer seems to be actually working slower now, though it is basically working ok. On looking at the tech spec for my Powerbook from Apple Support I then found this: "two SO-DIMM slots support up to 1GB".
Have I put in too much RAM now (who is right about my memory capacity - Apple or Crucial?), or does it make a difference that I bought cheaper RAM than Crucial or Kingston for example? (Presumably if the RAM was suspect I'd have bigger problems?)
Excuse the scattergun questions - I'm just trying to work out if I'd be better off reinstalling my original pair of 512MB modules, or leave in the 2GB and look at other issues in my computer for improving speed.

To add to eww's excellent advice, there is a note on my RAM vendor's website page for your PowerBook stating that the 17" G4 1G PowerBook is one of four PowerBooks that uses "bus slewing" and have special RAM requirements.
I recall a couple of years ago there was a little...well, call it a "public disagreement" for lack of a cruder term....among RAM vendors over bus slewing and the right RAM. Crucial was accused in these forums and by other companies of failing to recognize the requirements bus slewing placed on the RAM. However, this seems to have settled down as I see posts here stating more recent Crucual RAM worked. You could call Crucial and ask if the part number you bought supports bus slewing. I'm sure they will make certain you get the correct type from them.
Oops, nearly forgot! Bus slewing is explained in this Apple Technical paper on the 15" 1 G PowerBook. Scroll down about a half page to the section "Processor and Bus Slewing."

Using a iMac as display for the Powerbook?

Can an iMAC computer be used as a display for the Powerbook laptop? Could I use the iMac keyboard plugged into the Powerbook and maybe the iMac mouse as well?

I suspect that beautify doesn't touch CSS that it is not aware of (e.g. new properties/syntaxes, vendor-prefixes). See if there's a newer version available.
Which compressed CSS are you using? Most CSS libraries come with both compressed and original stylesheets, so use the original one during development/debugging, and switch to the compressed one for deployment.

HT / Displays / Resolution / ATI 9800 Pro for dummies

Over the years I've never fully understood resolution other than higher equals more real estate and detail.
Last night I installed 10.5.6 (zeroed the drive first) and customized it with no languages and no printer drivers (saving HD space). I loaded a few movies, photos and music in their respective locations. ATM I've hooked up my MDD (with 9800 Pro video card) to my LCD 32" TV (DVI to HDMI). It appears the TV's best resolution is 720p. But ...... The manual says:
Resolution: 1366 x 768;
Display Compatibility: HDTV (720p)
Signal Compatibility: 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i
When I look at my ATI Displays Preference pane it says 1024 x 768. Also, 'Detect Displays' at first didn't work, and then it did - 'Display Detected' now.
The desktop on the TV screen has narrow (ish) black bars on the sides and the top and bottom are off the screen - i.e. the Menu Bar doesn't show and the dock is partially buried.
I've been through the preferences as best I can and see no options to 'adjust' the desktop to 'fit' better. Perhaps this is the 'way it is' and maybe there's something I haven't figured out yet?????
Any help / clarification / much appreciated.

Seems I checked the wrong box in my effort to solve this. On my MBP atm, so have to recall from memory, but there's a check box in the ATI Displays for 'Movie Mode' and moments after selecting that the TV went to blue screen and no signal. Tried combinations of rebooting TV and cp, all it does now is on start up I get the gray screen, the blue screen, the desktop sized blue screen, then the desktop for about 2 seconds and it reverts to blue screen and no signal.
From the MBP I fired up screen sharing and mounted the MDD desktop, opened ATI Displays and the 'Movie Mode' check box was no longer selected, I toggled it on and back off to ensure it was off. Fired the CP and TV back up and same - no signal.
I swapped the HDMI out for the monitor dvi and the monitor came up fine. Opened ATI displays again, and found a different set of options and tabs - must be based on the connected display type. Found a selection to 'downsize' the desktop to 87%, which from what it said, was the answer to having the desktop display properly on TVs, specifically so the menu bar and dock showed properly. Why that was there when connected to the monitor doesn't make sense since it's an option aimed at desktop display on TV.
Back to hdmi tv and no change - still no signal. Back to monitor and looks like the card is fried.

Should I install ATI DISPLAYS 4.5.7 for new X800 XT?

I installed the ATI X800 XT last evening (thing is awesome, BTW) and was wondering if I should install the ATI DISPLAYS 4.5.7 software or not. Reasons for/against?

It depends on what you want to use your machine for. I'm using my G5 with that card as a media centre but I think that installing the ATI software causes the movies/tv show images to tear or have v-sync issues. Sadly it does mean I'm having to live with overscan on my machine as it's hooked up to an LCD TV and only the ATI software seems to fix this.

External Monitor for G4 Powerbook

I would like to get a larger (19-23") monitor for my PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz laptop. There is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 built in, so what Apple monitor is compatible? It sounds like the Cinema Displays all need some sort of specific Graphics card that I don't have (can I install one?).

I have a 9700 in my 1.5Ghz PowerBook and it works fine with a 23" and 30" Cinema Displays, I would think that your 9600 would work as well.

ATI display driver lost with Linux and XP dual boot os

I brought ThinkPad W500 with windows vista. I want to get rid of the hidden boot system reserved partition and downgrade to windows xp and install OpenSuse os. Following some sourses found on the web, I first set the bios sata ahci mode to compatable mode. Then install windows xp and update the sata driver. Restart and reset the bios sata back to ahci mode. It works fine with windows xp and I install back all driver. Finally I install OpenSuse and create dual boot with Grub.
But a serious problem come up with me. Everytime after restart from the linux os and back to windows xp, xp doesn't regonize the ATI display divice and tell me no driver installed with low screen resolution. And I have to restart the machine and boot direct into xp for the second time and the problem gone. But it is so annoying of doing this everytime. Anyone can help? Many thanks.

I don't have an answer, just a couple of questions:
Does your W500 have switchable graphics? If so, you may have to turn off "let the OS detect" or permanently select one or the other in BIOS. XP isn't switchable aware, so I don't know why that would make a difference.
Do you see the problem on cold (re) boot to XP, or only on warm reboot from Linux to XP?
Seems like something is leaving your BIOS in an odd state (I guess that's obvious) and maybe a cold reboot would sort it.

Problem in displaying extension data at item level in JSP!!!

I am facing a problem when i try to display extension data in JSP. This is how i have coded in CRM system and in JSP:
After searching an order in the webshop let say order no 1, and i ll select this order no .1. Now the BADI CRM_ISA_BASKET_ITEMS is triggered and in the method getitems_getdata, i have written a code with hard coded values like this:

Up-to-date Display Driver for Dv6-3077CA?

I recently bought an HP Dv6-3077CA (Intel Core i5 2.26GHz, 4GB DDR3 ram and 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5650)and was looking to play some Starcraft II the other day when I noticed that many of the Graphics options were grayed out and unchangeable.
My first step towards fixing this was checking the Blizzard website for info and noticed that the required display drivers for Starcraft II to even detect my graphics card were the ATI Mobility Catalyst Drivers version 10.2. I then proceeded to find my current version and discovered I was running 10.1.
Now my next step was the obvious one of going to the ATI website and downloading the Mobility Catalyst Drivers for my Graphics Card which I did but could not install. I recieved an error message from the Software installer that I had software on my computer interfering with the installation and that I needed to get the Drivers from the manufacturer's website. So of course I came to the HP website and located the download for my Drivers and went through the download and install process.
Nothing went wrong during this step, but upon rechecking my Driver Version I saw that it had not changed at all! I was still only running 10.1. So my questions are the following :
Did I have the incorrect Drivers by any chance?
Is there a way for me to safely get the Drivers from the ATI website?
And if the answer is no for the above questions, When will HP release the proper up-to-date Drivers for my Mobility Radeon 5650?

I appologize about you not getting a response untill now.
Your drivers are correct and the latest it just seems that a newer HP driver has not been released for this particular product. Even though it is not supported by HP you can uninstall the display driver currently installed and try the ATI ones to resolve your issue. I don't have a dv6-3000 to test your exact issue on but I did try Catalyst 10.9 on an Envy 14 w/ the Radeon HD 5650 graphics card. It did install and function correctly.

Display Extension Number Instead of Switchboard Number

We are using CUCM system in one of our branch office, we want to display extension number instead of switchboard number when we call external. But the telecom company said the dial information we send is "Unknown", need to be changed to "National Effective"... The voice gateway is C2951 and it's configured by vendor before; I can't find any configuration related to that, or maybe there wasn't any. Can someone help with this? Thanks.

Make sure the phones have external phone number mask and under route pattern you have Use Calling Party's External Phone Number Mask - checked. Then follow the below to set the called party number plan:
If its a MGCP gateway then under the route pattern>called party transfomrations> set the called party number type to local/national/international depending for the respective route pattern.

Display Conditions for Configurator OptionFeature Options - R12.1

Here is a test scenario that I am using. This is for R12.1
1. I have a list of options under a Option feature
2. These options are to be displayed as drop down list in the configurator user interface as the min and max selections allowed is 1. i.e. options are mutually exclusive.
3. In configurator user interface, I have to display only the options that are available for user selection. i.e. Options that are either excluded by a rule of by an configurator extension, should not be displayed in the UI.
Now, here is the problem.
I am using the display condition for the drop down feature as below.
List Item Display Condition List Item Model Node.SelectionState IsNot Excluded
The above display condition removes the options that are excluded by a configurator rule (like logic rule or a CDL). But is does not remove the options from the list that are excluded by a configurator extension.
I tried with all different display condition approaches. But I was unsuccessful in not displaying both type of options that are exculded by configurator rule and configurator extension.
If anyone could help me achieve this, it would be of great help.
NOTE: The logical state of option excluded by configurator extension is either FALSE or UFALSE.
The logical state of option excluded by configurator rule is LFALSE.

yes I have tried using LFALSE (as you have mentioned in your message - (IOption)opt.setState(IState.LFALSE); ).
But we cannot set the logical state of an option to LFALSE, LTRUE, UFALSE, UTRUE.
we can only set it to FALSE, TRUE or TOGGLE.
When I tried to set the state of the option to LFALSE, it throws an error saying - logical state of an option can only be set to FALSE, TRUE or TOGGLE.

Help! Where is Mac2TV in ATI displays update?

Im currently trying to use my TV as a display. But everytime I was connecting my TV and my new Mac Mini with S-Video Adaptor, I was only able to see only the first black&white screen with the Apple and the spinning wheel. After that, nothing.
Customer care told me to use Mac2TV to set PAL/NTSC, I installed ATI update for Mac OS X and opened the ATI Displays menu in System preferences. According to the manual, I was hoping to find Mac2TV Menu and the left....and...nothing! no Mac2TV menu ! snifff....
So if somebody got an idea, it would help me to start well 2006 ...

I recently bought a mac mini to use as a media player for my television. I also bought the dvi-video adapter (the PAL variant, since I live in europe)...
I can't even get a picture on my 1.5 year old Panasonic 32" CRT TV, just a flash, my cable works since I tested it together with our computers.
I did some research, and found out that NTSC is set by default on the mini...and I can't find a way to change it, so I did some more research and found the macosx-ati-displays-4-5-7.dmg file, which said that I can something called Mac2TV, the installation went fine, but I didn't get any Mac2TV icon, only advance and something else...
So, I found this thread, and you wrote that the Mac2TV icon is only enabled when I connect the DVI-video adapter, but how can I change to PAL if I can't see the picture???
I also red that the FW for the ATI 9200 card is old, and that is the reason why I can't get the Mac2TV icon. But I can't find a FW that supports the ATI OEM card, only one that supports retail cards...
Can somebody please help, I'm getting really desperate...

ATI Display Driver

I am trying to install the the ATI Display Driver package for a T500 without any of the applications that are included with it. In other words, I only want to install the drivers and nothing else like the Catalyst Control Center, etc.
When I try to do a customized install, I cannot uncheck any of the boxes I don't want installed. It seems like it is all or nothing. what's customizable about that?
Is there a way to do what I want?

You could ignore the fact that catalyst control center is installed and just remove CCC from startup (under HKLM\.....\Run in registry) when Windows is starting. Or you could uncompress the package and just install the driver by going into device manager and choose to update driver the driver then select the directory where you uncompressed the package.
