ATI Drivers for WINXP64

just the last thing i need for a kick ass 64bit windows xp (hang on!?!) system is some OpenGL ATI graphics drivers for me radeon 9700Pro
ANYONE HELP!
PLS?

yeah its well bogus bas
Fill out the word document form - fax it back to us - fax it back to you - then email or copy - LOL!!! - I gave up when I saw the type of questions they asked!
ok - well as far as i have gathered from windows support forums and planetamd64 is that ATI is being all secretive and crap about it - there were sum beta drivers posted on planetamd64 forums but they were quickly forced to remove them.
A statement issued by ATI - and also in their FAQ's (me tinks) not too long ago said that they would only release BETA versions to registered BETA testers and they would do no such official release UNTIL windowsXP64 bit edition is actually launched - EVEN MORE BOGUS!!
So pls - anyone whos got a copy of dem mentioned drivers sort me out pls!!!!!
i know someone out theres got em :>
heh - cheeky - but wot the eck - u dont get if u dont ask ;>

  • Serious W7 Bug - ALL ATi Drivers for Thinkpads /w Switchable Graphics Technology bricks OS.

Alas, i have found one serious bug for my Thinkpad.
It comes with Switchable Graphics Card Technology, with an Intel GMA 4500MHD and ATi Mobility Radeon 3470 paired together.
I have initially installed Pre-RTM 7260(ok, i know it's leaked), and faced the problem for the first time after installing the ATi drivers from either Windows Update OR ATi's website. However i have downgraded back to Release Candidate as there was stability issues with EXPLORER.exe
Anyway, surprising what i've though to be a show-stopper bug was also present in RC 7100. After installing(or rather, midway through) the driver installation, the screen blinks for a moment and after that, Explorer.exe is nowhere to be found with only wallpaper. OS seems to be bricked as restart does nothing. Only a System Restore prior to installation would solve the issue.
After diagnosing the problem, i have found the issue to be with the Switchable Graphics Card system. In BIOS, it was set to Swithable Graphics, with OS Detection set to Enabled, Thinkpad LCD Display(for output). I tried to set the graphics to either Discrete(ATi) or Integrated(Intel) but when i booted the system up it was in SVGA resolution and DXDIAG stating no graphics found. When it was in Discrete, i tried to install the ATi drivers once again, and although installation was successful, after restarting the same thing happened.
To be fair, i have repeated the drivers installation EXACTLY the same for both Windows 7 Builds(7100 RC and 7260 Pre-RTM) and the same problem occured. I have also tried to install the ATi drivers before the Intel Chipset(and basically the rest) and it's the same nevertheless.
I believe that this is a serious issue with Switchable Graphics Technology for Windows 7 Beta, since we have to make do with the generic Microsoft display adapter alone. I hope Lenovo engineers can put priority a solution for this as soon as possible.

PS: The Ati card is showing a triangle icon in Device Manager too, but i guess updating it brings the same bricking result.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties.
When I installed RC1 (build 7100), it came with a built-in driver that worked just fine for the discrete graphics in my W500.
A few weeks later, I installed the current release Vista driver for integrated graphics (this one) and it is working just fine as well.  Installing the Lenovo driver gave me the ATI control panel (not sure what use that is), otherwise, it didn't affect performance either way.
I have switchable graphics turned off in the BIOS, OS detection turned off, and have the machine set to use the discrete graphics only.  I think it would be a bit much to expect either Microsoft or Lenovo to support the switchable graphics this early in the development of Windows 7.  Besides, the discrete graphics doesn't eat up the battery that much - I still get 3 hours of battery life, which is sufficient for my needs.
Maybe try turning switchable graphics and switchable graphics detection off in your BIOS, that might get you running again.

  • Testing: ATI drivers for xorg7 - packages renamed.

I've just uploaded a new set of ati drivers *hopefully* compatible with xorg7, to testing. It's impossible for me to test, I havn't got an ATI card, so your feedback is vital.
What's also important about this is that they use a new naming setup.
The userspace tools and xorg stuff are in 'ati-drivers',
The kernel modules in ati-drivers-arch, and ati-drivers-archck.
So to install ati drivers, you are best to pacman -S ati-drivers-kernel, where kernel is your kernel. This will bring in ati-drivers too.
After installing, it is important that you make a symlink from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules to /usr/lib/xorg/modules, othweise direct rendering will not work.
    Thankyou for your patience.

  • Proprietary ati drivers for an old computer

Hello all, as this is my first post; I've recently been getting a newly acquired, but fairly old laptop (a Dell latitude d600) set up with arch linux, and have been going through all sorts of fun problems. I've been enjoying arch, and the very strange new experience of ratpoison, and the feeling of getting to work out so many problems with old hardware. One I'm pretty sure I don't quite have the expertise for however, is my video card.
As it is right now, for my card Radeon Mobility 9000 - rv250, I've installed the xf86-video-ati drivers. However, I'd like to have the proprietary drivers installed (I'll admit, mainly for playing minecraft), and after reading through the wiki, it seems the proprietary drivers no longer support my chipset. There seem to be packages in the AUR, namely catalyst-old, that may serve my purposes, but installing them has proved to be a bit of a headache. Also it's 4:30am here, and I'm just about done searching around for fixes. I assume it can be done, but I've so far been lacking in google-fu prowess/technical ability. Excuse me if I've missed something.
    Thanks guys.

Afaik the proprietary drivers don't support those old cards anymore, they consider the open source drivers the "official" ones. You could of course install older versions of the driver, but trust me, you don't want to do that, they are 1. crap and 2. they don't support the most recent version of xorg, so you won't be happy with them no matter what you do.

  • [Athlon64] RS482M4 ATI drivers for XP 64bit won't load

I have downloaded the XP64 bit drivers for the RS482M4 board on MSI and the setup fails on the driver with a message, "inf not found".  The box is titled Thunk.exe.  It is followed by another message that says failed to update the registry.  I have tried this several times and have also tried downloading the drivers for xpress 200 from ATI as well and get the exact same error.
I have a the RS482M4 board with an AMD 64 3500+ processor and Windows XP 64.  Currently the system is running with the standard VGA drivers included with Windows.  Anything I can do to get the ATI drivers to load?  Is this a known issue?  Apparently all works fine with the 32 bit version of Windows XP.
    Dave

Try unpacking the drivers and run the setup on the unpacked dir, sometimes that happens

  • New updated ATI drivers for MBP

    Hi!
I would like to know where I could find new drivers for the ATI chip? When I play Half Life 2 the system asks for updated drivers, but when I look around at www.ati.com/drivers I can´t find any drivers that fit my system....
They have a support site for ATI Mobility Radeon, but they don´t support Apple..
Does anyone know how to find the latest drivers?
MacBook Pro 15 2,16Ghz   Windows XP

If you want a tiny bit better preformance, though more for the fact of better stability and the possibility to overclock it to the 'proper' clocks, i suggest the omega drivers. www.omegadrivers.net - simple, and easy to install. They are the latest catalysts also from when i last checked. They also wont give you a hassle if you overclock teh card, unlike teh apple ati ones
    good luck!

  • Ati drivers for vista 32b

can anyone get ati drivers working properly on 32bit vista yet the ones from ati arnt working properly

just installed vista rc on a test machine and the ati drivers are blue screening on driver install for me as well.
there are no 'ati forums' that I can tell, submitted a support request on the ati site, but otherwise I don't see anywhere to try and figure out what i might do about this.
very concerned about this - vista is how many months from release and the state of drivers for the OS is pretty shoddy so far.
    anyways, joy of all joys ;}

  • T500 drivers for WinXP64 ?

    hi everyone
now i'm proud of my new "business" notebook and at the same time i'm absolutely gutted about the driver support!
a business notebook should work in an business environment, so why aren't there any drivers for win xp professional 64bit? do you really think, anyone in a company uses vista for it's business notebook? or has to have the newest os (win 7) from microsoft in an running environment accepting the incalculable risk of dysfunction of an untested system? (ignoring the immense costs of changing a whole it infrastructure? or managing different architectures (xp and win7 and ...) ?) so, in my humble opinion, in business win xp64! (cause it's a 64bit cpu in this laptop!! or not?) and win 200X server are still state of the art! or am i wrong?
after getting the network card working (with the original intel lan drivers! the lenovo stuff didn't work!) i hoped, all unsolved driver problems may be fixed with the newest service packs. nope. bad luck. so i tried the "Think Vantage" to make a system update and hopefully get the correct drivers. nope. this software is buggy and faulty method calls stops this software with an absolute specific error message: "There was a error while collecting user data." ah, ok, i see! thank you for this information. (write me, if you're interested in the log files)
conclusion: i like thinkpads and i always used them. but if i can't do so anymore cause lenovo may think that a 64bit machine should not host a 64bit os and win xp at all doesn't use anyone anymore - i'm sorry! nice marketing strategy of "how to destroy an outstanding reputation in 24 days" (maybe for dummies, cause it'll work that way by sure!!!)
all your nice little tools and gadgets are cute, but first of all, i need a running system - means drivers!
maybe anyone has some ideas where to get some manufacturer drivers (xp, 64bit)  for the "audio device on high definition audio bus", some "base system device"s, the network controller (wlan), the "pci simple communications controller" "sm bus controller" and 2 "unknown device"s ...
for the lan device - intel has some 64bit xp drivers on its homepage (the prowinx64.exe works, ask me if you need a link).
thanks a lot for your help! + greetings

It is rather unfortunate, but Windows XP x64 is not supported by Lenovo.
Most of the drivers are available but not on Lenovo's Support website. You can find the Intel chipset, graphics, wlan, and ethernet driver at intel.com. I hope this brings you to a somewhat usable system.

  • Outdated ATI drivers for T400 crash upcoming Firefox 4 and IE 9

I have a T400 running 32-bit Windows 7. I have downloaded the latest graphics drivers from the support page for my graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series.
The drivers seem to be outdated though, they date 24/08/2009 and have the following version number: 8.641.1.1000.
Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9 (both previews) crashes when hardware acceleration is used. I contacted both Mozilla and Microsoft and they both point to the graphic drivers. Is there any plan to release a newer driver?
    Bug report Mozilla:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=573013
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If I'm not mistaken Firefox 4 and IE9 are both BETA. Meaning your going to get issues. That is why users testing BETA's are to report there issue. So I do not see why they are pointing the finger back to the GPU driver.

  • ATI drivers for Satellite A200-1M8 on XP

    - ATI driver I've downloaded from support site works ok, need to know though if I can update it from the ATI web site or this a special driver developed by ATI and Toshiba?
(can't seam to find anywhere tech specs for this computer...)
    - dose any one know how to change the size of the Vram ATI card is using, the default size is 512MB

    Hi mate,
    1. You should use the original toshiba drivers since they were written explicitly for this machine (yes they are special), BUT you can use also drivers from these sites:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
    2. Its unfortunately NOT changeable since the amount of VRAM is set by the BIOS and users cannot modify it.
    Cheers

  • ATI drivers for XP?

Installed XP last night - there's trouble, right here in River City.
It doesn't seem as though XP likes the ATI card - there's a ? by it Device Manager and it only allows me to have the lowest possible resolution and color settings - looks terrible.
I remember reading on one of these threads that the ATI site doesn't have any drivers posted - anyone having a similar problem or know how to fix it?

Display flickering is usually a sign of a poor refresh rate choice. On the display settings change it to something else and see how you go. 60Hz seems to suit most users and displays.
