ATi Extension is corrupted?

Hi guys,
I was watching a movie when the screen went crazy and froze. It kept flickering, and everything on my screen was jagged.
I restarted the computer, forced, and after the logo and wheel, the screen turned white pixelated (right after the blue screen before login).
I can turn the mac on the safe boot mode, however.
A friend told me to move ATIxxxxxxx files from /system/library/extensions to elsewhere in order to start the mac normally, and it does so.
But, it seems i cannot play videos and assume that my friend's advice is a temporary solution.
Is there a permanent fix?
Do I find and update corrupted files?
My mac is Intel Core i5, 10.6.8, ATI Radeon HD 4850.

I figured out my issue.  This may be similar for others.
Scenario:  I attempted to UM enable a Lync user that I assigned an "available" number.  When I UM enabled I was presented with an error stating that the extension was already assigned to a user in the dial plan.
I did custom ldap searches for msRTCSIP-Line=tel:+1xxxxxx1234 - No results with this search.
I searched via the Lync ctrl panel filters for this number.  - No results returned.
I attempted the proxyaddress=smtp: search via custom ldap search in ADUC.  - No results.
What happened was a user was assigned Enterprise voice andded to a dial plan, then was moved over to the Aura system.  WHen this happened the number was given back to the pool, the user was set as PC>PC only.  This user did not have UM disabled
when removed from Lync Enterprise voice.
I was able to locate the user using the following commmands.  I found the user disabled UM, then was able to provision the new user without issue.
The command to do so is as follolws:  (plus  bonus commands for your enjoyment)
get-ummailbox | ForEach { If($_.Extensions -eq 4322){$.DisplayName}}
get-ummailbox | where { $_.Extensions -eq "45873" }
Get-UMDialplan -Identity "DefaultDialPlan" | Format-List
Hope this helps someone!
Enjoy

  • File extensions become corrupted when sending attachments in Mail

    Hi,
Since I upgraded to Leopard the file extensions on attachments that I send in Mail are corrupted in transit. The problem is not irremediable: .doc may change to .doc00 or .docis or something like that. The recipient can delete the extra characters when saving or opening the attachment, and the file is intact. But this is a bit of a bore, as I have to send attachments all the time. It doesn't matter whether I send from my iMac G5 or my MacBookPro, and it doesn't matter whether the recipient has a Mac or a PC.
    Any collective wisdom out there?
    Many thanks,
    Anna

Some people have found that not having accented characters or spaces in the file name cures it. The bug has been reported.

  • ATI Radeon 5470 Corrupted Display Driver

Hi, I've updated to windows 8.1 and I'm trying to install the old ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Display Drivers, but when I go to AMD website it tells me to download a new version, and after I install that version I get like 10 fps at Counter Strike: Global Offensive, I think that before I updated to Windows 8.1 I had the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Display Driver, but it got corrupted so I had to download the new one, but I want to use the old version because atleast it was stable and I could run the game smoothly. Is there anyway I can download the ATI display driver that comes with the computer? Since mine got corrupted and I need to replace it. I don't even know how to keep windows from installing the corrupt one..
    Please help

    BUMP, @HP
I tried installing every driver that hp recommends me to from this website. Still when I restart my computer I get to a black screen after Windows Logo, but I can boot in Safe Mode (what I'm using right now), I read somewhere that I need to replace the atikmdag in my Drivers folder because it might be corrupt but I don't have any non-corrupted driver to replace it

  • Extension Manager corrupted my programs

I used Extension Manager for the first time today and downloaded about 20 extensions for Flash CS5.  After installing them, I tried to open my Flash program and got an error that reads:
    Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Flash.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
This has never happend before and it does this with every Adobe program.  I have the eLearning Suite 2 and I have deleted the extensions and uninstalled/reinstalled my programs twice to no avail.  What is going on? I can't use any of my programs.

I downloaded them from Adobe Exchange http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/ .
I removed the extensions from the Extension Manager and then I deleted the
    downloaded files from my computer.
Here's the list of the extensions that I downloaded for Flash:

    JK drawing
    Byte-base
    Store Kit
    Tnt Sounds

  • ATI Displays rotate corrupted screen display

I'm running Mac OS Tiger and running AT Displays 4.5.6 and I tried to use the rotate command. I am not running an external monitor. Now the screen is rotated but totally garbled except for the mouse pointer. Even if I restart the PowerBook the screen gets messed up just before the log-in so I can't change the preference back. The computer is unusable in this condition.
I am able to start-up the computer via an eDrive I had created on a separate partition so I know the PowerBook still works fine and I can access the hard drive, but what files do I remove to get rid of this problem? Or is there some other way to get around this?

mine did this too. It used to not be a problem under 10.4.2, but the one time I tried it after upgrading to 10.4.3 it did it, I ain't trying it again.
I paniced a bit too, however, all you have to do is start up without the extensions loading (cmd shift at login). At that point my display became usuable again. I tried narrowing the pref file down, but didn't nail it - after removing all the prefs, then slowly adding them back 50% at a time through restarts I couldn't reestablish it, so I presume that one of the prefs file was remade for a standard orientation, and slipped through my net.
I repeat though, it does NOT require a reinstall, but until it's resolved, I shan't be trying to rotate the screen for better bedtime movie watching
    cheers

  • ATI 5770 image corrupted on power on?

About 2 weeks working ok with my new Mac but this morning and on power on I got a very strange image on my EIZO monitor: as an old analog TV noise. Power off and on again and everything ok.
I suspect something wrong in the ATI card driver.

  • ATI Display Extensions for 1Ghz PowerBook

Hi, I did not receive a copy of the Install & Restore DVD with my PowerBook 1Ghz, however Apple was kind enough to provide me with a retail copy of 10.3.3 & 9.2.2 install DVD/CD.
I've currently installed OS9 from the retail CD, and although it boots the PowerBook, the ATI Graphic Acceleration Extension does not load (there's a red X against it during startup), and as a result, hardware acceleration is disabled for all OS9 games.
Apple advises me that I need the original OS9 "ATI Display Update" extension from the Restore DVD for hardware acceleration to work, but they don't have a copy lying around with them anymore.
Could someone kindly stuff & email it (better still, email all the ATI extensions that get installed) to me at [email protected]?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi, Hemant. I have the same 1GHz Titanium Powerbook you have, with a bootable OS 9 installed from the original Install/Restore DVD that came with it (the DVD installs OS X 10.2.3 and OS 9.2.2). I've just bundled all the OS 9 extensions whose names contain "ATI" into a .sit archive and emailed them to you.
I'm not 100% certain that this group of extensions is all you need (other items could be required for these to work properly, but if so, I don't know what those items are). This will give you something to test, at least. Good luck!

  • I just installed the yahoo messenger. Every time I do that my extensions go missing. How do you fix this instead of having to keep re installing firefox?

I just installed the yahoo messenger. Every time I do that my extensions go missing. How do you fix this instead of having to keep re installing firefox?

hello, this sounds like the files in your [[Profiles|profile folder]] that store the information about your extensions might have become corrupted. please go to ''firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile - show folder...'' then windows explorer should open up your profile folder. in there look for the files named extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite, extensions.sqlite-journal (and in some cases also extensions.txt, extensions.rdf). delete or rename those files and quit firefox, they will be regenerated the next time you launch firefox.
also see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Unable%20to%20install%20add-ons#w_corrupt-extension-files Corrupt extension files]

  • Every single extension I have is broken. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work either. They say they'll be updated when Firefox is restarted, but I can't even open the preferences for each plug-in.

Not a solitary extension is working. Many of them say that they'll be updated when Firefox is restarted; some of them ostensibly appear to be working, but clicking on the 'preferences' button provokes no response. I have Firefox 3.6.13. I've tried uninstalling and then re-installing one of the extensions (Stumbleupon) but to no avail. Do I need to be re-installing Firefox here?

This can happen if one of the files that stores details on installed extensions is corrupt. To fix that see the section on corrupt extension files in the [[Unable to install add-ons]] article.

  • Radeon 9800 in a 7200 (with Sonnet Crescendo);  9.2x ATI drivers?

I know I know...why waste the time (and money).
The card works on 9.1 but wanted to see if anyone knew if:
OS9 Helper would be worth a try, or extracting the 9.2x ATI files using the TomeViewer? I have no real need of anything else in 9.2x
The Crescendo is obviously my obstacle...so I guess I could copy system folder and give it a go (w/o hope of the processor upgrade working).
Besides forgetting about this entirely, is there any this else I could try? I'm just looking to get optimal page draws/graphics performance.
    Thanks in advance,
    DHS

    David,
I probably didn't make my point clearly. This was something that a lot of users experienced when the card first came out.
Here's what I should have posted:
    1) Installing the ATI drivers from their bundled CD over existing OS9 drivers (my old ones were for the original Radeon Mac Edition) would cause severe problems including failure to boot.
    2) Removing one OS extension (I forget which one) allowed the computer to run in 9, but with no video acceleration.
    3) Trashing all ATI extensions, then installing from the CD, and OS9 worked, although I find the 9200 less stable in 9 than in X.
I hope newer downloadable driver packages have improved the situation.
OSX discovery: Although the 3D acceleration was there in X, the drivers (either CD or latest downloads) whacked my 2D performance. The Dock, scrolling, moving windows, all went jerky. A benchmark test showed that 2D performance had dropped over 25 percent. I reinstalled Jag, did not install the 9200 drivers and everything was fine with the ATI drivers that Jag installed. Same with Panther. I did not add any extra ATI drivers to what Panther already had. Works fine, even with a VRAM-hungry flight sim.

  • Rarely-used Classic has developed an extension conflict

For four years I've been using Classic mainly for a few Word docs that I just can't get into the right format in TextEdit or AppleWorks. Two weeks ago Classic stopped opening. I tried lots of paths to get there, but with the same result: progress bar re "opening Classic" progresses to about 96%, and then hangs there, even overnight. After finding some old forum discussions (now closed) on this type of problem, I tried with Extensions Off (using OSX System Prefs) and everything opens just fine, but won't print, which was the object. I tried opening Classic in Extensions Manager, and turned off lots of extensions, but left on the basic Apple ones, the Word ones, and the ones having to do with this printer. But with those on, it again hangs up at 96% on the progress bar.

It sounds like one of those extensions is corrupted. I would start by reinstalling the printer driver for Mac OS 9, and if that does not fix it, leave the Word extensions and let Word reinstall them (it should do so the next time you launch Word.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't upgrade from 9.04 without graphical problems maybe from ATIextension?

    Hello,
I figured before I make the leap into purchasing a new machine (Mac or PC-still not sure) I'd post a reoccuring problem with my old Power Mac G4. I have tried on a number of occasions to upgrade from the 9.04 preinstalled system to 9.1 and then even higher. 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 to no success. I'll explain. Here are my machine specs:
    ---Power Mac G4
---400mhz (I believe it is an AGP Graphic not a PCI)
    ---512mb ram
---10gb hd, but i have a 120gb wd internal in the upper brack spot right above the 10g. I've been using the 120 gb split in 2 partitions as my 9.04 startup disk.
    ---external zip 250 usb attached.
---LaCie 52x cd burner attached via firewire
Everytime I try to run the update (and I have downloaded these more than once, thinking maybe it was corrupt on download) it leaves trails on my screen. For instance, when I scroll up and down in windows using the arrows all the text corrupts to the point you can't read it. If you move the windows around the screen that leaves trails and corrupts as well. I took some time and I think narrowed it down (maybe). If I remove the NEW ATI graphics extensions from the extensions folder (the ones from 9.1 install and replace them with the 9.04 (ones from my startup disk). The problem vanishes. So in a sense I'm running 9.1 with 9.04 ATI extensions. I did what the read me says for installing the update and I believe the firmware was up to date where it called for.
The overall hope was to maybe someday put OS X on this G4, which if I remeber correctly you're suppose to be able to do on a mac this old. But I'm having no luck what so ever.
Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I can keep this machine running a bit longer before having to invest in another one.
    Thanks again.

    Hi, Creative -
One thing that comes to mind is that OS 9 (at least 9.1 and later, maybe earlier, too) installs two ATI extensions when only one is needed, the one specific to the kind of graphics card in the machine. Having both active can cause some problems.
Specifically, the two extensions are named -
        ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator
        ATI Radeon 3D Accelerator
Check in Apple System Profiler (on ASP's Devices & Volumes page, click the info triangles on the bus labelled PCI) to determine which card you have, Rage or Radeon, and then disable (or remove) the extension for the other kind of card.

  • Blue screen with sound after clean install

    Hi Everyone,
I have just replaced the hard drive on my MacBook Pro A1226 Model.  The install went fine when it finished all I get is a blue screen with the osx music in the background.
I have tried deleting the ApplicationEnhancer file using single user mode, I have tried removing all the ATI Extensions but still no luck.  I was able to get the welcome video up once but was unable to select my country or continue. I have also tried to complete the install using safe boot but no luck.
Any ideas or help would be brilliant.
    Thanks in advance

Safe Boot by restarting your computer while holding down the "shift" key.  Safe booting disables all nonessential processes, often times allowing you to start up when you would otherwise crash.
As of OS X 10.5.6 Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache location in the /var/db/dyld directory.  A corrupt cache here can cause the blue screen crash.  Once you restart normally, the cache will be recreated.  This should take care of the issue.

    Explanations:
Folder Depth: This number indicates how many folders are nested inside each other. If a disk contains only three
folders and Folder A is inside Folder B and Folder B is inside Folder C, then this disk has a maximum folder depth of
three. Folders nested too deeply can cause software compatibility problems.
Property List: This is a standard file format for storing data and is often used to store preferences. The names of
these files normally end with a .plist file extension. Corrupt property list files can cause system instability.
Resource Data: This is an older file format for storing data and was often used to store preferences. The names of
these files normally end with a .rsrc file extension. Corrupt resource data files can cause system instability.
System Symbolic Link Files: These are files used by the operating system that are similar to aliases. If these files are
damaged it may prevent startup or cause system instability.

Went back to Disk utility and now it says that my hard drive doesn't need repair! whats going on! can anyone help?!
    Thank you

    Two things off the top:
128MB are GUID partitions that are not user volumes.
There is also a 200MB EFI partition as well.
Drive Genius needs to get their program updated.
You need to work from an "emergency" boot drive to repair your boot drive, RAID or no. I hope you are and not from CD or DVDs.
Forget about Permissions. They are very minor. They only have to do with ownership and security and based on what is in
    /Library/Receipts
Trying to verify? all you want to do is repair and rebuild.
If you ran DU and DW and did repair and rebuild and WROTE NEW DIRECTORY and the problem remains, erase and restore, or...
+I am useless with RAID and have no idea...+
Don't use it except to test, learn, experiment with. But not for system drive.
Above I asked, "are these a matched pair of drives" ie, same make, (looks like same size), vendor, model? they should be. Less chance of trouble if nothing else.
ON the boot volume, do a Get Info when you click on the drive, look for "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" and make sure it is NOT CHECKED. It can't be to repair permissions and be bootable.
The underlying cause of disk errors may be marginal or bad RAM. Test those FBDIMMs. Run Apple Hardware Test and Memtest (even Microsoft uses Memtest for Vista).
Drives rarely break. Systems do. Directory and btree catalogue and volume information blocks do.

  • Is my DVI port dead?

15" powerbook G4. I plugged a 22" Acer into it that natively runs at 1680x1050. It picks up the display and properly configures itself to run at that resolution and even seems to work fine for the first little bit, but then I get extensive DVI corruption. (it looks like bad TV reception) I have ensured that the cable is in as snug as possible. I know the monitor works as I've used it on other machines. In fact, it's currently sitting here plugged into a brand new macbook and everything is peachy. But it won't work with the powerbook. I think I've used the powerbook's DVI port maybe a small handful of times over the years and honestly, I can't remember if it ever worked.
I guess I'm hoping maybe there's some sort of configuration problem I am unaware of or something. I like my powerbook, even though it's really getting ancient now.

I am unsure of what model this is beyond its being a 15" powerbook G4, 1ghz model with onboard FX5200 (I mention the display because I remember it being one of the few things that differed between the models). I can't remember what adapters it came with so I can't try those out. I'm not sure where they even are (I know I have them, just not sure where I put them). This is an old computer, lol.
I only have one free standing display so I can't try any others. I know the monitor works, though, as it works fine with other machines.
This isn't a big deal; I plan to replace this thing with a Macbook Air next year. I was just curious.
