ATI HD2600 MacPro DVI problem with HP LP2275w monitors !!

booting up from 10.5.1 all was OK... after updating OSX my 2 HP LP2275w monitors stay dark.
it seems the DVI signal isnt present to switch ON the screens.
after some freaking with input selection from the OSD of the HP LP2275w monitor image appears :-/
with 2 monitors (booth are model HP LP2275w) just the secondart one get turned ON, so i need to freak a bit to get the image from DVI.
i tried with a macbook pro/GT8600 DVI output and all works fine !
it seems the ATI drivers after 10.5.1 dont like my HP monitors !!
ah... WHY apple havent done a mini display port - STANDARD display port adapter or cable ????
my HPs have also display port input, but is unusefull cause it seems Apple did every kind of adapters BUT NOT the much obvious one !!!!! aaarrrgggghhh !!!!!
thanks in advance for your help :-))

Update: I have contacted Apple Support and after running a few tests, they say that it appears to be a hardware problem. I will be taking it in for repair.

  • Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter with a VGA monitor?

    Hey everybody,
I have a quick question. I work on computers fr friends and family as a hobby. I have an ADC monitor and need ot be able to hook up computers with a VGA port on them to it. Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter along with an Apple DVI to VGA adapter to successfully connect VGA computers to my ADC display? I was assuming this would work and ordered both adapters but now I have made myself nervous about weather or not this will actually work. Has anybody out there successfully done this? Thanks for your help in advance everybody.

You can't run an ADC display with a VGA computer without a converter. Adapters won't do it.
a VGA to ADC converter will drive the ADC display directly

If you have the Apple DVI to ADC adapter
    <http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=18 72D402&nplm=M8661LL/B>
you could use it with a VGA to DVI converter
    <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1310>
It might be cheaper to get DVI graphics boards for the computers and use the Apple DVI to ADC adapter.

Your title says "Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter with a VGA monitor?". If you want to connect a VGA monitor to a computer's ADC port you need the ADC to VGA adapter
<http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1299> You can't use an ADC to DVI adapter followed by a DVI to VGA adapter, because the ADC to DVI adapter doesn't pass the analog video signals needed for VGA.

Recently having problem with flickering on monitor (viewsonic vg2436wm).  When coming out of sleep mode.  It will flicker, the screen goes gray, sometime out.  Have to press power button to get screen on.  Problem stops.  Getting more frequent.  After sometime problem stops. My system is a Mac Mini 2010, 2.4 intel core 2 duo, 2 GB, running OSX10.8.5

See if it's related to this...
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

  • Graphics problems with my second monitor...

Ever since I updated to Lion, I get some display problems with my second monitor (a Samsung LED XL2370).
Single windows appear darker and with bad graphics, especially when dragging from the normal monitor to the external one or openign them..
And after 'waking' my MacBook from sleep today, the background image of the normal display was missing. It was just a grey screen, but perfectly functional. And nothing changed when I checked the display settings and tried changing the background.
    Any ideas??
A screenshot with both problems in it.. Acrobat Reader was sitting between two monitors, the right display is the external one

After 10.7.3 i was optimistic apple finally fixed the bug....but it seems that they were not successfull or just didn't care....
I'm seriusly really sour about the rapidly decreasing quality apple delivers.....thinking more and more about switching back to linux again....

  • DVI-problem with old card (GF fx5600)

My old AGP-card fried, so I got a used FX5600-VTDR128 from a friend (who never had any problems with it) and plugged it in. It seems to run fine on analog D-sub, but when I try to use the DVI-port the dark parts of the screen is filled with green flickering vertical lines (sort of, hard to describe), and the whole screen occasionly flickers, as if updating resolution. This happens as soon as the boot screen appears when the computer is turned on, so I guess it's not a driver problem. sometimes it dissapears if I fiddle with the resolution for a bit, but it returns the next time whenever i turn the screen off and back on again.
I know the card is old, but it would be nice if I got it to work anyway. Any suggestions?

  • New Mac Mini with Lion Video Problem With Dell E228WFP monitor

Just purchased a new mini Mac 2.3 with Lion pre installed.  I connected to my old Dell E228WFPI monitor via the Mini Display to VGA adapter.  The mini mac worked fine for an hour until I put it to sleep.  It would not rewake.  After rebute the gray screen and apple logo appear with clock, but after clock screen to black and monitor goes to power saver mode.  Took unit to apple store twice and could not resolve problem by changing resolution or other methiods.  Finally, we learned that the system works fine using Belkin HDMI to DVI cable.  This Dell Monitor had DVI connector.  Hope this helps...

How can a computer that's been turned off (and I mean completely OFF) get a network request? Only a sleeping computer should react to such a request. If you're sure you shut down (Apple Menu, Shut Down), then only an internal power supply or logic board problem should cause this. The only way it could be software is if Lion is not shutting down the computer but is instead putting it to sleep. Is it a new Mac Mini? If so, you should have it replaced or repaired.

  • Problems with a large monitor?

In an earlier [post|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8888529#8888529] I mentioned my problems with jerky playback in iMovie 09. After lots of testing, it seems that the problem is related to my 30" monitor. When I start up iMovie on my MacBook Pro without the monitor attached, the playback appears pretty smooth. But with iMovie running on the 30" it is jerky. (Playing the clip in QuickTime is smooth, so it's not an inherent inability of the graphics chip to drive a large monitor quickly).
Anyone else using a 30" monitor successfully with iMovie? (Mine is an HP3065).

Two thoughts on this. First, are you connecting using DVI to VGA adapter? If your tv has a dvi input, use that - it's much better. Second, are you editing HD? If so, watching the video from within iMovie is for previewing. A finished Project Exported using Quicktime or Shared to one of the pre-defined output formats will produce a movie that will play back correctly even though it perhaps stutters at times from iMovie.

  • Problems with an external monitor

I have a laptop with intel 945 grafic card and I also use an external monitor (which has a nicer panel).
However I experience some strange problems with my setup:
I usually (when I am at home) start my laptop and close the laptop screen via
    xrandr --output LVDS --off
But, after a random period of time (I have not found any good reason for it) my external monitor goes in some sort of power save mode (the screen goes black and remains that way).
I usually activate the other screen (LVDS) and try to see if I can do anything.

(usually I try with the classic :
    xrandr --output VGA --auto
Inittially I thought it is a problem with the driver (i810) so I upgraded yesterday the whole system.
Even after I did that and used the new driver (intel) I still had much luck as I had an other blanking event today.
An other ideea is that this is caused by faulty bios, but it is just a guess
My present day solution: reboot (yes, full reboot, because restarting the xorg has not the intended effect)
Any ideas on what may cause this?
    Any help would be appreaciated.

display goes to sleep when colsed because there is a magnetic switch - small magnet opens the circuit.
if it stays on, either magnet was misplaced, some wire disconnected or the issue is with the switch circuit.
on some models switch is part of trackpad, if you have small magnet, try moving it over trackpad, see what it does.

  • Intermittent Problems with Digital Imaging Monitor in Taskbar - J6480

I am utilizing Vista and have the J6480 wireless all-in-one unit.  On occasion, it takes forever for it to initialize and at times the program becomes non-responsive.  On the last startup, I did not get the "check mark" until about 5 minutes after start-up.  In addition, when I did get the check mark, the all-in-one was not working correctly as when I would hit the "Scan To" button, I was getting an error that there was no associated computer.  Has anybody else had problems with the HP software becoming non-responsive or not being reliable upon start up 100% of the time?

  • Problems with playback in monitor

My project plays for a few seconds and then suddenly stops. I have to hit the space bar again to get it to start up again, but it doesn't go for long before it stops again. The same happens whether it's on automatic quality or highest quality. I have rendered the full movie, so that's not the problem.
The project is only 13 minutes long. Is it possible that the .mov file has some wrong settings? I've been having problems capturing video straight into Premiere Pro (problems with audio), so I've had to capture into iMovie, then "share" it with expert settings into a .mov file. However, I may have some of those "expert" settings wrong (since I'm not an expert).
I appreciate any suggestions you might have.
    -yvonne

You're the one with the camera.  I suggest some tests - shoot the same few scenes at various bitrates and watch them directly on a properly calibrated HDTV.  This will give you some direct observations about quality differences between bitrates.
My own viewpoint is that there really is no point to any camera using GOP compression.  It's just a bad idea from the start, so if one has issues using such a camera, I see that as "caveat emptor" situation.
I'm not aware of any official announcement from Adobe on the full list of what will be updated/corrected/fixed with 4.1, but my guess (and it is purely a guess) would be no.  I'm inclined to believe this is primarily a horsepower problem.

  • DVI problem with MacBook pro

I bought a new DVI to HDMI cord for my Mac, which is the older mac before changing all the outputs and keyboard and all. It is probably about 3 years old. My problem is the TV is picking up the signal from the computer, but it will only display the background I have on my computer, not what I am working on like the internet or playing a moive. Any suggestions on what I can do to pull that picture up?

    Welcome to the Forums!
The proper sequence is to have the external display and the MBP on, connect the adapter to the external display cable, then plug the adapter into the MBP. It should auto-detect.
Go to System Preferences > Displays - is there an Arrangement tab? If so, the MBP has detected the display correctly. If not, click Detect Displays.
Also, are you sure your TV is set up to display the signal from the MBP? The MBP should auto-detect, but your TV may need to be set to line-in, or something like that.
I routinely use my MBP with monitors (DVI), projectors (DVI-to-VGA), and have used with S-video to a VCR (with the DVI-to-Video adapter).
    Hope this helps...

  • FCP sync problem with AG neovo Monitor

I am working on a Macbook pro (10.6.4 - 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) and am currently using an AG neovo monitor as a dual screen. I am using external speakers via the headphone port on the computer and am working on a Prores HQ sequence 25fps 1920x1080 in FCP 7.0.3.
The problem I'm having is that when I try to use the AG monitor as external video playback in FCP, the video on the AG is not in sync with the sound. Playback is also quite sticky. I've tried messing around with the 'Playback control' in 'System settings' but it hasn't helped.
Also the current resolution of my macbook pro is at 1440x900 but the AG is at 1600x1200. The AG doesn't have an option for 1440. The highest setting they have in common is 1344, but when I tried setting both resolutions to 1344 it didn't solve the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to solve this issue?
Please let me know if you need any more information or if I haven't explained clearly enough what the issue is.
    Kind regards
    Alice

Thanks for responding, have solved the problem by making sure that both monitors are set to the same colour display profile in 'System preferences' - 'displays' - 'colour'. As long as both monitors are set to the same one then the sync is fine. It does mean that one of the monitors (basically the one which is using the other one's colour profile) has a funny colour to it, but I can work with that.
Just to clear up confusion I was connecting to the AG nuevo monitor via a DVI adapter.
Thanks for taking the time to respond though, it was your response which made me look up the colour profiles and solve it.

  • Problems with my second monitor after upgrading to Mountain Lion

Basically I have a Mac Pro 8-core with two video boards (2 x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB) connected to two monitors. After upgrading to the Lion Mountain, 90% of the time when I start my MAC the second monitor doesn't show it image, keeps in full black screen, what puzzle me is, I can see the mouse arrow on it, so its alive, but its in black, than I have to restart the computer over and over again until it finally make the second shows it contains.
Have anyone experienced the same problem?!

    Hello Carlo!
Sorry but I don't understand which part of my question is not clear. I've been to the Apple Store, they asked me to bring my 20kg Mac Pro and both 24" inches Eizo monitors to central London to have it checked. Well, honestly, this is impossible, is an invitation for an accident.
Is just unbeliavable that no one has experienced my problem, looks like I am the only one person with two monitors using the Lion Mountain.

  • Problem with a Dell Monitor - stopped working yesterday, just a flashing orange light. Monitor or Mac Mini issue?

I've been using an old Dell monitor with my Mac Mini ever since I got it, however yesterday evening my monitor stopped working - however I'm not sure whether the issue is with the monitor or the Mac Mini. It just doesn't seem to respond when I try to bring the Mac Mini out of sleep. I can hear that the Mini is responding to the keyboard - I hear the right noise for pressing return on the password box without entering anything.
I've made sure all the cables are plugged in properly (power & connection to the Mini), but all I'm getting is a flashing orange light on the monitor.
I don't have anything else to test the monitor on, nor do I have access to another monitor to plug into the Mac Mini - I only have an old iBook G4, so don't have the right adaptors to plug the VGA from the monitor into that.
So before I run out and buy a new monitor, what is the best way to determine where the problem lies.

Hi, I've actually never had any issues waking this monitor from sleep, this is the first time that it has been unresponsive and I've had it for years - probably over 10! (E151FP) so probably overdue for replacement.
To be honest I'd rather not just switch the Mini off unless it's a last resort given that other than the lack of a picture everything else seems to be working ok - still hearing all the normal noises of Skype, Mail and TimeMachine etc.

  • Resolutions problems with Philips LCD Monitor

    Hi all,
I have a new MacBook Pro with the Mini Display Port and today I have bought the DVI adapter for it. On my previous MacBook Pro I could happily use 1280 x 800 resolution on my external display using a single DVI cable straight to the MacBook Pro but i am only getting 1024 x 768 on my new laptop with the adapter (no widescreen resolutions).
    Can someone please help me?
    Many thanks and merry christmas.

What Philips monitor is this? What is its native resolution? Is 1024 x 768 the top choice you are seeing in Displays preferences? Is the Philips properly identified or is it being identified generically like "RGB Display" or something like that?
It's possibly some kind of failure on the part of OS X to read the monitor's driver data (EDID) but it's hard to say why that might be happening. It could be you got a defective adapter.
