ATI Radeon 8500LE on MSI 865P Neo Board

Dear everyone!
Has anyone run on ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB on a MSI 865P Neo Board together? Currently, I running this graphic card on MSI 865P Neo Board and seems like everytime I started to play games, it will hang! When I change to Riva TNT2 gfx card, it can play my games. Seems like MSI 865P unable to run my ATI Radeon 8500LE....
Perviously, I use MSI 845GE MAX-L, yet no prob faced running on my 8500LE card.
Anyone have any advice or patches or anything to fix this bugs? Pls advice!!
Thanxs alot!!

none of the suggestions on that thread worked for me
and i dont understand why you should disable features that will make the radeon perform at a lower level.
this is what i did to stop the 9700 pro from crashing.
Fresh install of windows then install service packs FIRST THING install chipset INF drivers before anything else.
I had trouble with the Catalyst 3.2 drivers. The 3.4 cats work fine for me. Also in the bios AGP apeture set that to 256mb. If the cat 3.4 drivers dont work try the 3.1 drivers

  • 865P Neo board outdated

    Hello,
just wondering how come this msi 865p neo board had only 2 bios revision
and it is removed from the product's front page ? Is that because there is nothing
more to update/correct on this mainboard ?

Yeah; You are right...Unfortunately the i865PE came out right after, and there is no market for it anymore, So as far as a New BIOS release :nooo:Unless some unforeseen Problem arises ...........Sean REILLY875

  • Help!!! Intel 865P Neo Board

    Dear All,
Currently, I've changed my MSI board from Intel 845GE Max-L to 865P Neo Board and seems like I was unable to play games (eg: NFS HP2, C&C General). When I start up the game, after the movies introduction, supposed it will reach the main menu, but it hang there, no display, my monitor power cut off, no sound either. I can't see anything at all.
Everything was running fine, except running games. Should be Intel 865P better than Intel 845GE. Hope you guys can help me solved this problem for me. The BIOS setting is set to default, no overclocking.
    I've change my system from:
    P4 2.0GHZ
    MSI Intel 845GE Max-L
    512MB PC2100 (DDR266)
    to:
    P4 2.53GHz
    MSI Intel 865P Neo Board
    2X 256MB PC3200 (DDR400) = 512MB
    Using the same graphic card:
Hercules 3D Prophet Radeon 8500LE Series (4X AGP Card)
    Pls help!!! Thanxs!!!!

Hmmm, it\'s in one of the menu options (where you can set processor voltage and such)..
    There\'s 4 possible settings for it when I looked (266, 333, AUTO, 400)..
Take it off AUTO and set it to 266..
I tried wat you have told me...set to 266MHz
still the same... Monitor power will just cut off. Cannot see anything. Do u guys think is the power supply prob?
I'm using a 300Watt PW. but I was wondering if PW not enough, it will not be able to bootup.

  • Problem with MSI 865P Neo and G4 Winfast

    Hi all,
I bought the mainboard MSI 865P Neo. Have put it into G4 Winfast A280 LE TDH my vivo. And the problem appeared.
When I doing whatever in Win (for example open explorer, mouse rightclick ...) the screen is simply runing over.
Seems like a video card doesn`t handle it or Screen (monitor) is poor but it`s not. The same problem appears also while Windows is installed.
Little note I want to add is my G4 has new Bios setup and on my second card Leadtek G2 MX everything`s ok. It seems for conflict between the mainboard and my v-card. Have you met similar problem ?
Would be grateful for an answer
    Best regards

On my old mainboard - ABIT ST6R (with G4) everything was ok. I changed mainboard, RAM and P4 and problem has appeared.
MSI supports AGP 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V (3.3V not supported)
If G4 needs 3.3V (I can't find G4 how much needs) that problem is obvious. I must change mainboard.
Anyone knows how much G4 poverage needs?

  • MSI P965 Neo board failure ?

I have the P965 Neo board running perfect for two years, for a few weeks ago the system didn't startup, a long beep sound came from the MB. I opened the case, checked connectors etc. and replaced the memory modules. After that the system runs ok, no problem occurs for almost three weeks.
For a few days ago, out of the blue,  the system didn't startup: error message: "WARNING Have option ROM can not be invoke (Vendor ID: 10Ech, Device ID:8167h)"
I reset the system and it passes the POST, the WINDOWS XP splash screen shows up but after a few seconds the blue progress bar stops.
I reset the system again and now the WINDOWS XP splash screen stays fade out, no progress bar
I reset the system several times, after a few times the system normally boots up and is ok.
I tested the HD with Speedfan Smart utility and it is found ok.  Also no virus etc is found. I checked the device manager, no driver problems.
Yesterday the system had the same problems (XP boot blue progress bar stops, sometimes the progress is very slow) but after a few restarts the system boots normal and is ok.
Tonight, after I had opened the case to measure the voltages, I startup the system but no problem occurs. The 12V and 5V are ok
I think I have a hardware problem but I'm doubt what hardware (MB,RAM,PSU,processor) causing this kind of problems.
    Can you help me ?
    thanks,
    Herman

Clear CMOS and try booting the system again.
Was the system like this from Day 1 or this only happens after something has been done?
    Thks NovJoe ....
The system had run without any problem for more than 2 years.
I presume I have a connection problem on the MOBO or other hardware. If I place the PC case in the cabinet under my desk, the problem occurs. If I have the PC on the floor there is not any problem. It also happens only when the PC is cold.
I asked my hardware supplier, he suggested to test the hardware with a special self booting hardware test CD. It will cost 40 euro. I searched for such a CD on internet but didn't find one special for MSI boards. Do you know where I can get such a CD ?

  • MSI K9N Neo board- and Windows 2003 R2

    Hello,
I am having some compatibility issues with running a K9N Neo board and Windows 2003 r2
--I cant get core center to run
--I cant get audio/sound to work, it is all installed except for one thing.
so then i killed by loading XP drivers that it did not like.
Does anyone have a list of the minmum drivers off my CD that i should install to get it going, or are they on the MSI site for W2k3?  I could not find them.
This machine works totally fine with XP and Vista.
    thanks

That is mostly correct, absolutely. But it happens that Microsoft thought-up some security measure or two that prohibits some - for example - updating procedures. Here is an example, but I doubt that is your problem. Please note the kb number, you don't have to learn Swedish.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922582/sv
Modificacion: Very few companies do I believe produce special 2003 drivers. Don't think I ever saw any MSI ones, anyway. Isn't it enough that XP and Vista works? Those are better for gaming, entertainment, VOIP and such.

  • Should i buy this MSI K8N NEO board or shouldi skipp it ?

Im reading so many problems that you guys are having with this board that it makes those reviews i read seem fake.   For one i was gana buy a Dangerden RBX waterblock to continue the watercooling on my pc which iv done for 2 years now, with a 3000+ clawhammer Mobile and this MSI K8N NEO platinum board.
Now im reading on here in the faq and from otherp eople that the board supportsm obiles but has tons of Quirks in it, people o nthe overclockers.com forums with mobiles and this board have to run @ 1.7 to get the cpu to run @ stock thats pathetic.  Also i keep seeing people o nthese forums that are only getting 166fsb/250HTT ratios, or lower.
I thought this board can do 300HTT or maybe close to it.  Yet tons of people are getting only 210-240HTT max on thier board's. because they cant seem to lower the multi's.
Now that i read all this stuff im thinking of buying the new Epox board with a desktop 3200 clawhammer, unless thier are some people out thier who havent had any probs with mobiles and overclocking.

It isnt just the Graphic issue with the 9600's im talking abut, its the whole bunch of otherp roblems, where people cant install windows xp or 2000, or are having overclocking issues, or having issues with 2 or more sticks of ram, where some boards support mobiles and some dont and the ones that do like the K8N NEO have major problems like Multiplyer and voltage issues.
Its really very sad.  Im pissed off right now iwanna upgrade my pc but it seems any mobo i wanna go to has major problems.

  • How do I unlock the AGP/PCI for MSI 865P Neo?

I tried to overclock my P4 2.8GHz by changing the FSB. I noticed that the frequency for AGP/PCI and memory will change together with the FSB. I am unable to just change the FSB only. How do I unlock the AGP/PCI frequency so that only the FSB is changed? If not, i can't do overclocking.

    Hi msklee,
I dun think that we can unlock that in the features as it is BIOS controlled... If you find that after you o/c and things are too tight and system will not boot up, juz lower your o/c specs and it should do well.
By the way, I hope that you do not spam the forums with the same thread repeatingly juz to ask something similiar   , so I will close the rest of the similiar post to ensure pple dun answer here and there, and you dun have to go so many threads to get solns too... In the future 1 thread will do all   .

  • Intel Pentium 4 @ 2GHZ with MSI 865P Neo motherboard

I recently bought a new case and motherboard to add all the parts in my old Dell to it. The BIOS and PC Alert 4 are reporting the processor running at a temperature between 114 and 135 degrees fahrenheit. Is this normal ir is the processor running at a good speed? My computer seems to be stable and running fine. Just need to know what the temperature is supposed to be. Also, there are 2 case fans running and the processor fan on the heatsink plus the power supply fan. Any comments are welcome, thanks.

Yes this is normal just a srewup
The temp from core center is all wrong
    Check bios one
    That is right one

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T NEO-V : incompatibility with ATI RADEON 9800 PRO

    Hi,
I read all the subjets on this forum about Radeon problems with MSI K8T NEO motherboard.  Most of the peple can't use their graphic card in all situations.
    My PC is :
    -MSI K8T NEO-V
    -AMD-64 3200
    -Power : 400W
    -ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
-1 Go DDRAM (2x512 in single channel)
    -Hercules Digifires 7.1
    I bought a new MSI K8T NEO-V with AMD 64.
The problem is that I can't use the computer in the games with AGP 8X even if I try to enable-disable all the options possibles in BIOS and Windows (fast write ...) : The computer freeze (screen disapear as if there was no video signal), reboot or return to Windows disabling the accelerated mode.
But in AGP 4X, all the game run without problem with all setups of BIOS !!!
I tried all the drivers (the new and the old drivers).  Even if all are updated, it freeze.
There are no BIOS update for my motherboard. I saw that some people had BIOS update for compatibility with some Radeon cards ...
So, I don't know how to repair the problem because AGP 8X is AGP 8X and not 4X, and my Radeon run fine on other computer, and nothing say that Radeon 9800 pro don't run on this motherboard.
Does someone have the solution to make it work ? Does a new BIOS or driver update exist somewhere for Radeon cards ?

What Bas said about 30+ amps on the 12v rail does have merit. Even if you don't use it now there may come a time when you want to upgrade the system and certainly you won't want to buy yet another PSU then. A High end vid card now takes almost as much as the CPU to operate. Now days the 12v rail is the most important. Past systems regulated everything off the 5v railk and 12v was used mostly for powering drive motors. Now though the MB's use the 12v line to regulate all the voltages for the CPU, Chipset and other features as does the Vid cards. 3.3 volt lines are used for memory so we hardly use any 5v nowdays.
You have an older viod card and that does not eat much 12v but if you upgrade the most likely peice will be the vid card. You could go through this whole thing all over again if you are not careful to plan for that now with a new PSU purchase.
If the computer shop gives you a bunch of bull about power needs havbe them stop by the forum and we can help set them straight on this. There is more than enough data from MSI and historical data here that suggests that 16a on the 12v rail is certainly not enough. Hey I am not trying to sell you anything. I am just trying to help you get it right. The computer shop is the one trying to sell you something we just feel they are selling the wrong junk.

  • Blocked dram frequency - 865P neo

    Hi
I have one problem my dram fraquency is blocked in bios. it is set up at 400Mhz and i can't change it :(
    I have msi 865P Neo and 2x256 DDR 400 (PC 3200) (dual)
Do you know what i should to to change it ??

Quote from: garthol on 22-July-07, 00:13:41
    "400" is what's greyed out
    Configure Dram Timing by SPD:
both options doesn't change this situation.
when is disable is block and when enable is the same.
    Come on garthol,
Please help yourself by reading through your own products specs, if you think that I'm not of any help. If you are saying that you want to set to 400MHz manually earlier, then we'll know what you want.
The thing is, this board is running on the old ICH5 chipset and does not have native DDR400MHz support. All you can do to acheive DDR 400MHz speed is by overclocking, nothing else.
    Please read product page: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=542&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=
If this is not clear enough, you can try this > How to contact MSI.

  • TWO DEAD 865P Neo's

Ok...this is seriously bugging me.    :O   I bought a 865P neo board 2 weeks ago, and about a week after using it, the mobo went dead.  I went and exchanged the board for another 865, installed it, and everything on the comp worked fine.  Then a few days later....same thing.  The mobo went dead.  It doesn't power up at all.  When I hit the power button, the fan for the CPU twitches, but nothing powers up.  I know the PowerSupply is fine because I tried it on another computer and it worked great.  If anybody out there is having the same problem or knows what's goin on I would really appreciate your help....My specs are listed below.  I haven't done any BIOS updates either.
    SPEC
    MOBO: MSI 865p neo
    CPU: Intel P4 2.66Ghz 533Mhz FSB
    RAM: Kingston 512MB DDR400
    PSU: Allied 350W PS
    HD: Western Digital 120GB w/ 8mb Buffer
    Video: Gainward GeForce4 Ti4200 128Mb DDR
    CDROM, DVD, FLOPPY

I tried clearing the CMOS but that didn't work.  I also checked out the lights on the D-Bracket and i'm getting a Green Red Red Red, for lights 1,2,3,4.  I looked online and that sequence is supposed to be the early chipset initialization.  This thing is really bugging me....if you guys know what's goin on...I would really apprecite the help.

    1. Make a bootable system floppy disk by typing [FORMAT A:/S] from the DOS prompt.
    2. Download the BIOS file from MSI web page.
    3. Extract the BIOS file into the bootable floppy.
    4. Boot up system with the bootable floppy disk.
    5. Run Award (Ex. Awdfl770) or AMI (Ex. amifl822.exe) Flash utility & follow the on-screen
       instructions.
    6. After flashing the BIOS, reboot system, press [DEL] to go into BIOS setup.
    7. Select [Load Setup Default] for or [Load Optimized Defaults] and press Key [Enter] and
       press Key [Y].
    8. Press Key [F10] than answer [Y] to reboot system again and finish upgrade procedure.
I think this F10 key (above) is (a shortcut key for [save & exit] inside BIOS).
