ATI Rage 3D Mobility Video Driver Problem
I have a Fujitsu NE4/50C notebook.
Some problem Solaris x86 2.8 Installation.
1. my notebook video card is ATI RAGE 3D Mobility.
i'm not found Sun Microsystem web site HCL list on video card.
i don't know how to setup video card.
2. i have 3com PCMCIA(3c589d) network card.
i'm HCL list found it.
but solaris not reconized network card.
error message.
configuring network interfaces:ifconfig:plumb:pcelx0: no such
interface ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS:pcelx0: no such interface
Please answer the question.!!!
I have a Dell inspiron 5000 with the ATI Rage Mobility Card. In order to get it to work properly I had to get Accelerated-X from Xi Graphics (www.xig.com). After using their software I can now work at 1280x1024 with full color.
I have never got Solaris 7 to recognize a pcmcia card. What I finally did was get a Xircom parallel port ethernet card. That works. Your error message means Solaris never found the card.

Lenovo T400 screen goes dark issue, some video driver problem
Lenovo:
Motherboard:
CPU Type: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)
Motherboard Chipset: Intel Cantiga GM45
System Memory: 1992 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
BIOS Type: Phoenix (08/19/08)
Display:
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
3D Accelerator: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Problem/Issue:
Driver problem appeard after upgrading from XP to Windows 7.
From the Device Manager I saw that ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 was not working properly and
a) I did the "update driver software." After restart the screen light was darker than usual. (This was usual if I was working from battery but I was plugged in this time. )
As I'm not the best with computers I thought my drivers might be in conflict and to prevent serious damages, I just
b) disabled ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 from device manager.
This actually resolved the dark screen problem.
c) then I went to Lenovo support site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858
downloaded newest drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 (Switchable Graphics Driver)
and Intel 4500MHD (Intel GM45 Express Chip)
For some reason while installine the: Intel GM45 Display Driver (version 8.15.10.2302) gives me error:
"This Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
Also some problem appeard when installing the new downloaded version:
ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver (version 8.792.5-110424b-119200C)
d) so I went back to device manager and made an update to ATI Mobility Radeon from there.
Well, I got it working, but the screen went dark again. When I disable the driver it goes back to normal
brightness and when I enable it again, it stays normal.
I'll try to restart and see what happensWe had the excat same issue.
I could get the picuture back pressing the power button until it went to sleep and then wake it up again.
After the I went to device manager to delete all display drivers both Intel and ATI and then reboot.
doing the reboot windows found some drivers it could use.
I then installed the switchable driver from lenovo.
Now windows device manger report two display drivers:
1)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
2)
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Version, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
So it seams the switchable ATI driver take over the Intel card and the Intel driver is not needed.
At least the problem is solved for us.

Hi,
Just had to reformat and reinstall my T60p, and have put XP SP3 and the lenovo ATI video driver v8.533 on. Since then, I've had intermittent video redraw problems - parts of windows not being redrawn when minimising / maximising. Seems to affect all applications, and there's very little else installed other than a couple of portable apps.
It seems that sometimes the video performance is really really bad - windows leaving trails behind them when being dragged across the screen, just like an unaccelerated video driver would. And various rectangles of windows failing to be redrawn completely.
But sometimes, its working fine - I can't see a pattern to it (yet). I've tried reinstalling the driver from a fresh download, and I've tried disabling acceleration in the troubleshooting section of display properties, with no effect. And there doesn't seem to be anything in CCC which helps, but for info, here's what it says:

Anybody got any ideas? Are there any later drivers available? I wonder if its related to the screen rotation fix for SP3?
Thanks,
Dave.Yes, that's the link I got the video driver from.
I tried downloading the bios flash utility from your link anyway, but it said I already had the latest version (which is what I thought), and didn't need to update. I confirmed this by booting into the bios config screen, and it definitely displays ...3WW there. I must admit I had assumed the bios details from CCC were for the GPU bios, not the machine's bios. But I couldn't find any references to updating the GPU bios.
To confirm, here's the full output from the System Info button within CCC, which displays the machine's bios details:

K9A2 Platinum Audio and Video Driver problems.
I put together my new rig last night and am having a lot of problems with drivers. The rig installed windows XP SP2 in about 10 minutes though
Rig:
MSI K9A2 Platinum Bios 1.3
Phenom 9850 BE
G.SKILL 1066 5-5-5-15 2T
MSI HD 3870 OC
WD Raptor
CoolerMaster 550watt
Several fans to keep cool air flowing.
My problem is that I can not find good audio or video drivers. I started by trying the audio drivers included with the board, but they would not complete the install. I ended up downloading audio drivers from the MSI site, however they also would not install with the "#-0001" error message. I followed the instructions on the forum: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=115396.msg866810#msg866810 including installing the MS HD Audio Driver Hotfix but still cannot get sound working.
To further complicate my problem the 3870 has HD onboard, which makes a second instance of Microsoft UAA HD Audio driver in the device manager, and also tries to find drivers for bits of it's audio hardware.
Currently I have disabled on-board audio completely through the bios, and now everytime I boot-up I get new hardware found for UAA HD Audio, and also some Media interface. Clearly this is the HD on the 3870, however I can't seem to get drivers installed that will agree with the hardware thus the message continue to pop-up!
Does anyone have suggestions or similar experiences?Quote from: AMDloyal on 24-April-08, 09:56:10
Thanks for the links.
The standard AMD ATI Drivers + South Bridge chipset drivers worked flawlessly. I've made a clean run through 3dmark06 so i feel good about them.
As for the audio.
I've worked through both of those suggestions but haven't gotten anywhere. A few times I have been able to get the drivers to install without the "error code -0001" message, but that doesn't give me sound. Under device manager I still end up with yellow exclamations. It seems no matter what I disable or try to do nothing works. I've tried updating drivers manually like was explained in the first link, but when the update is complete I get the messages lile: "There was a problem installing this device MEDIA An error occured... The data is invalid"
Does anyone know if this indicates a hardware of driver problem?

I get a video crash when I play Dark Age of Camelot, and sometimes in windows.
I have a enermax 480w ps
JessA few things you can try
-install the latest chipset drivers
-install the latest VGA drivers
-check that the card isn't over heating
-turn off AGP fast writes if they are enabled (in the bios or ATi control panel) -
Sculptris: Experiencing video driver problems?
Anyone having issues with the application Sculptris using Yosemite?
It used to work. Now I get a black sphere primitive on black background.
The suggestion was a driver issue (at least for Windows users). That doesn’t sound likely, but I thought I’d ask.
The Pixologic user forum doesn’t appear to be very helpful in this regard.
(fwiw - this is 3d sculpting software which launches with a sphere primitive to work on.
Of course, if a responder didn’t know that already - I suppose there wouldn’t be a solution forthcoming!)Problem description:
Sculptris Alpha 6 Materials do not run correctly under Yosemite unless in SAFE mode.

Hi. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help. I installed Solaris 8 on my Compaq Armada M700 notebook and have had endless trouble getting the display drivers to work.
Does anyone know of any available driver for the ATI RAGE Mobility-P AGP ? I have had to resort to using RedHat Linux which does have drivers for the time being ...You can go to www.xig.com ,as far as i knew , solaris doesn't support
ATI Rage Mobility-P , I have a same problem like yours , but I am using ATI Rage 128 Mobility (M3) , for more information you can go to
http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/hcl/index.html . -
Solaris 8 = ATI Rage 128 XPert
Hello!
I can't seem to get my ATI Rage 128 XPert video card to work in GUI mode on my computer. Any suggestions?
Additional Info:
256MB RAM
27GB HD
Solaris 8 loads fine in CLI mode
I have tried all the video drivers that came with Solaris and none will allow me to go beyond a very low resolution and very few colors. I have used this same machine with Linux, W2K, etc. with no problems.
One more thing: Solaris would not load at all on my Intel machine, but loaded fine on my AMD processor.

No kext for Xserve's ATI RAGE 128 in Leopard
Xserve running OS X Server 10.5.2
The Xserve has an ATI RAGE 128 PCI graphics card from an old G3 Blue & White. System Profiler shows no kext loaded for the graphics card. The monitor displays OK, but ScreenSharing and Timbuktu both display ragged text and graphics when connecting to the Xserve.
The Extensions for the older ATI RAGE 128 graphics cards are absent from Leopard, since it isn't spec'ed to run on the B&W.
Has anyone tried using the ATI RAGE 128 Extensions from Tiger in Leopard?
Has anything changed in the way extensions are implemented that would cause Tiger's ATI RAGE 128 Extensions to fail?
TIA,
SamThe Rage 128 Pro has all the drivers it needs in OSX, and OS9.2x. Since ATI considers it a discontinued product, they do not supply any drivers or support for it anymore. Try a google search for a manual, you might find one. Make sure to look for the Mac Rage 128 when you look it up.
Here is the thing, because these cards were shipped OEM by Apple (not retail) they didn't come with any cables or manuals, that I am aware of. You might find one for a similar Mac ATI Rage 128 based video card. -
Mega 180 @#%%#!!!! Driver Problem
I'm writing more to vent than anything. I also want to see if anyone has the same problem I just had.
Well, I got the Mega 180 running perfectly. I mean this thing was running sweet. I just finished building it, loading all the software, etc. and have been running it for a few days w/o any problems. Then when running it I tried to boot an MP3 and I got an error that no sound card is detected - weird. I looked under properties and it showed that no driver was installed for the onboard sound (where did it go??).
So I tried a reboot and got the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH (see other post for explanation on this). So I rebooted, entered via vga mode, uninstalled all nVidia drivers, rebooted, and reinstalled all the drivers. Guess what??? Still no sound and only VGA. I tried unloading and reloading several times to no avail. !!!!!!
Is it hardware??? Is it software???? Am I not doing a complete chipset driver uninstall???? Seems to me that after I reinstall the drivers and reboot, everthing should get recognized and installed? That's how it usually works but with the Beta 180, nooooo, not gonna happen. Instead, another mystery problem that I'm going to spend days solving.
I do this for a living (build PCs) and I've had nothing but problems with this thing. I've RMA'd it, it has burt out two 512mb sticks of RAM, I've wiped the disk clean and reinstalled everything. I figure I've lost around $700 on this thing (new RAM, my time, etc). I always use Shuttles but my customer wanted the Mega 180 ---- should've stuck to my guns and told her no!I just wanted to let everyone know that I solved this nagging video driver problem. As you know, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the chipset and video drivers many times and I've tried both the MSI drivers and those from nVidia's websits all to no avail. Well, I finally got the thing working - here's how:
1) Complete driver uninstall, chipset and video. Reboot.
2) Don't let Windows install any drivers upon detection. Instead, run DriverCleaner off of http://www.driverheaven.net It's a free driver cleaning utility.
3) I reinstalled the chipset drivers off of MSI's site, reboot, then installed the video driver off of nVidia's site. Reboot.
After that, everything worked just fine. My guess is that a pesky little chunk of a driver was not getting uninstalled during the normal driver uninstall and this little thing was screwing up all future installs. -
ATI Rage Mobility Driver problem
Hello. I managed to succesfully install Arch Linux on a old Acer TravelMate 732TXV. To put things in perspective, that's from the Win98 era. I am having some difficulty getting acceleration enabled. So far, I have managed to get a working graphical display using the xf86-video-vesa 2.3.2-1 package. I am trying to figure out if there is a better driver I should be using instead.
The output of 'lspci | grep VGA' is "01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x (rev 64)".
I have tried xf86-video-ati and xf86-video-r128(only one driver package installed at any given time) but neither one worked for me. Only vesa. I read some other threads from years ago where people were asking about the same thing and some of the threads were non conclusive and others posted results that I didn't fully understsand such as this website.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=29918
That thread isn't exactly recent though, so I don't know how relevant it even is. What do I have to do to get acceleration working?
One last thing that might be relevant is that I have no way of installing Arch Linux directly on the laptop because it has no wifi capabilities and I don't have physical access to the router or modem. I have been using my other laptop to install Arch Linux to a flash drive. Then I am booting from the flash drive on the target laptop (which required a live-cd boot manager) to test things (I plan on copying the flash drive over to the hdd after I get it set up right). I'm not sure if that could effect this issue or not.
I don't mind if I have to downgrade some packages if that's what I have to do. This is basically just going to be a gimp machine.

Can I do this with just an ethernet cord and 2 laptops? I'm also not really sure if my ethernet cord works. -
[SOLVED] Swap on video ram ATI Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x
I'm just following this instructions:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Swap_on_video_ram
But, i'm not sure if its possible for this old card:

Also I don't understand what does this entry means:

Bsically right now I'm trying all of this performance optimiations (where possible)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … erformance
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Im … erformance
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Im … erformance
I'm using xfce now, it consumes around 100M at start but thats because I have all kind of gadgets turned on right now, for montioring things (without all this it consumes about the same than lxde, and a little more than openbox(crunchbang style), I really like it and when I find the other 256 ram module I will try it again (with zram too of course!), openbox is nice, I'll try maybe something even lighter, and thats why I keep trying more and more lightweight apps right now.
I LOVE qterminal, now I have a yakuake drop down style terminal that is light and featured!
Also even though using zram comes at the cost of lower-time-performance, it's still faster than swaping to disk, and I can feel the difference, if I also actiate an aditional 128M swapfile (with lower priority), I can even open more progrems, but it starts lagging if it starts to get full both ram and swaps, in those cases all I do is log out and in again, but I never let it get to those stress conditions unles I feel like testing it! lol
Also this script is useful:

(the last one is the one I use)

PE 13 crashes due to incompatible video driver detected. Running on Win 7 SP1 with ATI 540v video card/driver. Deleting bad driver file in adobe program data does not fix the problem, it simply replaces the text file and crashes again. My video driver is just fine. Any help out there?
rb
Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?
