ATI X800XT is adc port same dvi signal as the dvi port

For starters, what does "adc" stand for? Does it mean the adc is an analog port needing conversion to digital for display to an apple cinema display? someone at apple just said it stands for apple display connection. Yes, I know I still need an adapter, but I'm wondering if this port is inferior the the dvi port on the card. I don't know if the adaptor is just changing the physical hardware connections, or something else.
I want to go from the adc port thru an adc/dvi adaptor to the matrox mxo box, out of the mxo to apple hd 23" display. I need to reserve the other graphics port (dvi) to go thru a dvi/vga adaptor to my vga monitor.
Is the adc port on the card the same as the dvi port in terms of the type and quality of signal? What is the adc port anyway?

The video quality should not be compromised by using any of these adapters. The ADC outputs the same exact digital signal as the DVI outputs. The ADC-to-DVI adapter basically discards the USB and power features and passes the digital AND analog signals through.
As mentioned above, both ADC and DVI also carry analog video signals. Using a DVI-to-VGA adapter, an ADC-to-VGA adapter, or a combination of both will allow you to use an analog VGA monitor from either port on your video card, again with no degradation of the signal.
If you are missing any or all colors or the signal is degraded in some way, you must have a bad connection, bad adapter, or bad cable. Try reconnecting or replacing each part one at at time to determine the culprit.
As for the problem of non-matching DVI connectors, check the link below to determine which ones you have and which ones you need. There are pictures of each connector on this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppleDisplayConnector
You should be able to find an adapter (or gender changer) that matches up to your cable. A web search should give you plenty of sources and options. You may try a place like Cyberguys.com: http://www.cyberguys.com/ (Search for "DVI gender" to see all available adapters.)
With quality cables and adapters, you should be able to achieve what you are trying to do with no signal degradation to each of your monitors. Let me know how it goes.

  • Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx

Problem: Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx.
    Environment: Windows XP sp3 (32bit), Visual Studio 2010 sp1, NI-Measurement Studio 2010
Device: NI - DAQmx PCI 6251
     Analog Input: 1.00MS/s multi-channel (aggregate)
     Analog Output: 2 Channel 2.00MS/s
    Reference Example: AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk
    Generated Pulse:
    1) AO0 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / sample 50% Duty
    2) AO1 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / (Reverse Image)
Description: I’d like to deliver the waveform stream satisfied with specified constraints to the 2 channel output port in the DAQmx. To verify accuracy of the generated waveform, I did an electrical wiring from the Analog output channel (2 channels) to the Analog Input channel (2 channels) in DAQmx. As a result of this experiment, I could get a result which has signal distortion. Since the waveform has to satisfy with both high frequency (8KHz) and very short moment interval time (△t = 0.5㎲/sample) between samples, I cannot handle some parameters of the function in the referenced VC++ example. Following formulas shows an approach to deliver the generate pulse waveform to output port satisfied with constraints.
    Analog Output Channel
     Frequency = 8,000 cycles/sec (constraint)
     Sample per Buffer = 2,000,000 = 2*106 samples/buffer
     Cycles per Buffer = 80,000 cycles/buffer
     Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel
 Sample Rate  = Frequency * (Sample per Buffer / Cycle per Buffer)
                              = 8,000 * (2*106 / 80,000) = 2*106 samples / sec
     △t  = 1 sec / 2*106 samples / sec
               = 0.5 * 10-6 sec/sample (constraint)
 Buffer Cycle  = Sample Rate / Sample per Channel
                              = (2*106 samples / sec) / (1*106 samples/channel)
                              = 2 channel / sec
    Analog Input Channel
    Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel
     Sample Rate  = 1 MS/s * (2 Channel) = 5 * 105 Samples / Sec
    Program Code
    AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk (VC++ Example)
Result: The proposed approach was implemented in the experiment environment (VS2010, MStudio2010). As shown in Figure 1, we could get the unsatisfied result. Although I intended to make a ‘square’ pulse wave, the result looks like ‘trapezoid’ pulse wave (Figure.1). However, there is other result which was undertaken with different parameter condition. It looks like the square shape not the trapezoid shape.
Please let me know what the conditions make the problem of signal distortion. (AO0 = Green line / AO1 = Red line)
    [Figure. 1] Frequency 8000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 8000 Result
    [Figure. 2] Frequency 1000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 1000 Result
Questions: Please let me know following questions.
    1) Is it possible to deliver the generated pulse wave satisfied with constraints (f= 8KHz), △t = 0.5㎲/sample) to the output port without distortion using PXI 6251?
(Is it possible to solve the problem, if I use the LabView or MAX?)
    2) Are there some mistakes in the proposed approach? (H/W or S/W program)
    3) What is the meaning of the Cycle per Buffer?, It could effect to the result?

    Hi Brett Burger,
Thanks for your reply. For your information, I have set the sampling rate as 10000 as for the sound format, I have set the bits per sample as 16 bit, the rate as 11025 and the sound quality as mono. I tried using your method by changing the sampling rate as 8K but still my program encounter the same problem.
I wish to also create a button that is able to generate a preformatted report that contains VI documentation, data the VI returns, and report properties, such as the author, company, and number of pages only when I click on the button.  I have created this in my program, but I am not sure why is it not working. Can you help troubleshoot my program. Or do you have any samples to provide me. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Many thanks.

  • How to get a signal from the serial port to start a labview program?

I need to synchronize the data obtained from a program (which is not in Labview)with the data collected with Labview on a different computer. I can send some data strings to the serial port of the computer running the Labview program when the other program starts. However, I need to be able to read the trigger in my Labview program. Do you know what I should do? Thanks.

If you don't have any other programs listening on the COM port, you need to let a LV program run BEFORE the signal comes, otherwise you won't be able to read it. You can have the program wait in a slow timed loop so that it doesn't use up too much CPU time, and when the required "trigger" comes, to move into the main part of the program.
You basically need a while loop waiting for a certain string in the serial buffer. Once the string is found the while loop is exited, and the data acqquisition or whatever else you require from the progam can be performed.
In the example attached the program wait for ANY text to be sent to the COM port. Please note that you need to configure the VISA resource before using it. Once there is something at the COM port, the loop will exit and the rest of the program will be executed.
    Hope this helps

  • Issues with processing messages on one receive port causes problems on all the receive ports that are on the same handler

    Greetings,
An integrator installed biztalk in our environment to process the hl7 message flow between their source application(s) and several receiving applications. We've had problems with this set-up for a while now because some receiving applications sometimes have
problems processing the messages. Be it either because there's problems with the server that processes the messages of a certain port or because there's problems with the software/daemon/service that needs to process these messages.
The main problem with this, is that the receiving end of this isn't under our control nor under control of the integrator, but when one receive port isn't processing their messages for a while it causes a problem with all the receive ports that are on the
same handler. So other receive ports start noticing a slow-down of their incoming messages until after a while nothing gets through anymore.
What is the best practice to prevent these kind of problems? Should we just create a handler for every receive port? Because that seems a bit overkill.
    Thanks in advance.

What do you mean exactly with this question?
"Can you provide some more detail like BizTalk the receiver? "
The adapters are mainly file and MLLP, the MLLP adapters are already seperated from the file adapters (a handler for MLLP and a handler for file).
The problem with all the receive ports is that when one receive port isn't processing its messages (usually caused by the software processing the messages) the other receive ports on the same handler receive their messages/files a lot slower. If for any
reason the problem isn't fixed soon, the other receive ports on the same handler actually stop receiving any messages at all.
Isolating the receive port that causes the problems like la Cour suggested can work, but next time it might be another port that experiences this issue. So we are looking for a way to make sure the whole message flow isn't hindered by one port (whichever
port) that can't process its messages. Or rather by one receiving software that can't process its messages.

  • Firewire, USB, Ethernet, DVI - none of the side ports seem to work

hey guys, just got this macbook and whenever i plug anything into the side ports, the mac doesnt seem to recognize anything. usb, ethernet, firewire, anything. Any suggestions? Im relatively new to mac os so i dunno if im missing something simple, i thought this system was plug n play?

Make sure the device you are connecting to your Mac is turned on
If that doesn't work, you should definitely take it to the apple store and have them repair it

cable modem into house gets patched to where i want TC for best signal.

Two Wired Tivo Series 2 boxes (cause the wireless using WEP was too annoying)
    additional PCs in various rooms.
anyone know how to address? all devices that need cabling through house are useless for now

This should work no problem - I've got a Pluscom gigabit switch connected to my TC. Previously had a USR 10/100 switch.
What happens if you connect the switch directly to the modem (with all the other devices disconnected, except for one computer)?
Has the switch worked previously, or is it new?
    Has the cabling worked previously?
Since the TC's ethernet ports work with other devices, the fault must lie with the cabling or the switch. Try connecting the switch to the TC using a known working cable.

  • ATI X800XT flash problem

I have two x800xt's I am trying to flash but am getting a strange error message when I try to flash them.

    Card 2 - ATI X800X - ID 4A4B
I am flashing the card following instructions from The Mac Elite website. Here is what happens to both of the cards.
I have checked the ROM file, tried renaming it, re-downloaded it and nothing works, Booting from either floppy or USB stick gets the same results. The card is recognised but the ROM seems 'invisible'. Any thoughts, ideas or simillar experiences? The ROM is the 64k reduced from The Mac Elite website

  • FX5700-VTD256 lost DVI signal

In addition to the Creative and nVidia application problem that I posted here:
Issue with FX5700 and Audigy 2 ZS app's?
I just lost my DVI signal (in windows, during BIOS POST, everything)!
Long story short, did format+delete partition+fresh win XP pro install.  After installing my logitech tackball drivers (which worked fine before, for a least a week or so), I rebooted my system...no video signal.  I have a analog/DVI flat screen, so I was using the digital connection.  I hear windows boot up, so I try shutting down, unplugging the system, pressing the power button...etc.  Turn everything back on, monitor is still black, and windows still boots up.  I shut it down and go to sleep.
In the morning, I hooked up the analog cable, and booted up the system.  The monitor comes on (analog signal, with the DVI cable still attached), and I boot up into windows. No errors, no warnings (still have the EAX and nVidia app's not showing up in systray).  I look in hardware manager, no conflicts, no unknown devices (except for the USB ports that are disabled in the back).  I look under display/settings/advanced/drivers and see that the monitor is ID'd correctly, in Analog mode...even though the only monitor driver I installed off the samsung CD was the digital driver.  Tried installing digital driver again.  Hit the "signal switch" button on the monitor to force it to look for a new signal...digital comes up with nothing, and so it goes back to analog.
My best guess would be that the video drivers are AFU, but why would that affect being able to detect a digital signal when I'm in BIOS?  I'm lost.  There is no BIOS jumper on my video card, so there's no "safe" VGA BIOS to go to, as far as I know, and MSI's Live Update says that my BIOS is the current version.  Help?
    power:
    +5V -5V +12V -12V +3.3V +5V
    Max. Load
    40A* 0.5A 24A* 1.0A 32A* 2A

Apparently the card broke itself, soon to be RMA'd.  Figures.

  • No DVI signal, only analog and TV-out

Hi, I bought a new computer a couple of months ago and have been having some problems with my graphic card (MSI FX5900XT-VTD128). Most of these problems disapeard when I re-installed WindowsXP.
However, about one week before I re-installed WindowsXP my screen just went black when I tried re-installing my video drivers. First I thought that somehow in the pocess of installing the new drivers my video card got overheated or something and broke (highly unlikely, but I have seen strange things in my days).
Furthur investigation revealed that it was "only" the DVI signal that stopped transmitting. I have since then tried to enable the DVI signal with no luck. I haven't found any options in both the NVIDIA drivers nor the MSI drivers in which to choose analog or digital output.
My monitor shows that there is a DVI conneciton, but the screen is still black. In most of my tests I would have DVI and TV-out plugged in so that I can make changes in the settings through my TV.
I'm running out of things to try and I am very open to suggestion, if anyone would be so kind.
    ASUS K8VSE-DX
    A64 3200+ ClawHammer
    Kingsmax SDRAM 512MB PC3200
MSI GeForce FX 5900XT (BIOS Version 4.35.20.38.14, 128MB RAM)
    WindowsXP SP2
NVIDIA 66.93 drivers (have tried with MSIs drivers)

    Thanks for your suggestions.
I already tried the driver solution, and it didn't work... However, I can try even older driver and see if they will enable the cards DVI signal. The problem with the driver solution is that there is no setting for choosing CRT or LCD monitor. In both dual view and clone mode I can only choose between a monitor and TV output... One thing I found strange though, normally at boot time (before the OS loads) I would get both analog and digital signals, but now there is only the analog signal.
The monitor solution I will try in a couple of days, when I will carry my computer over to a friends place and try it on his monitor. The only problem is that my computer is so damn heavy! :-)
I will keep trying and let you guys know how it worked out.
In the meantime, if anyone else has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

  • Third Party LCD Monitors - using the DVI port.

More often than not, manufacturers of LCD monitors do not address the compatibility of their products with the Macintosh computer. If there is an entry regarding use of their monitor with the Mac, it shows the use of the VGA (analog) port or the need for an adapter. In nearly every case tested, LCD monitors having a DVI-D input port can be operated from the DVI-I port on nearly all Mac graphics cards. Recent testing with a *PM G4 MDD (NVIDA 9000)* and an *LG W2600H* monitor proved that the Mac desktop opened at full monitor resolution. Only drawback with using a non-Apple monitor is that now the CPU requires manual startup from the front panel button; which is often hit-or-miss on the PM G4.

I have never had that problem before and I just got a viewsonic 20 inch lcd studio type flat panel monitor.

  • Why no use a DualLink DVI Cable with the MiniDP-DVI adapter to power 30"?

    I'm a bit confused here...
looking at my Mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter, the pinout appears to be a Dual Link DVI port. Is this true?
Can someone explain to me why I can't just buy a Dual Link DVI Cable now and use this to power my 30" monitor at its native resolution?
I would have thought this was gone over many times already - but I have been unable to find it.
    Am I missing something?

A Mini DisplayPort to single-link DVI adapter just has to connect pins between to two connectors. The computer detects the adapter, and send DVI signals over the Mini DisplayPort connector that end up on the correct DVI pins. Unlike DisplayPort, DVI uses separate data and clock video signals, and there are not enough DisplayPort signals to handle clock and video for dual-link. The Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter contains circuitry to separate video and clock signals from self-clocked DisplayPort signals, so can drive all the required pins on a dual-link DVI port. This circuitry gets power from a USB cable that plugs into the computer. This makes it more complicated and more expensive than the single-link version.
