ATOM RSS feed authentication

I've been polling for helpdesk tickets by utilizing the example found in the following link for several years and for some reason a recent update to Spiceworks has caused me to not be able to authenticate my user and pull the feed. Here is the script example:

I'm currently using version 7.4.00070 which is supposed to provide a patch for social login, but I'm not sure my particular situation was addressed. Please advise.

I don't know whether there are any other useful ones. FeedValidator is fine, but you can ignore anything to do with Atom, or complaints about 'RawVoice' which it doesn't understand, or 'errors' about the 'itunes:order' tag which is a recent addition it doesn't know about; and sometimes it complains about date formatting when there isn't a problem. On the other hand it won't flag errors such as trying to link to a Flash file, or setting an 'itunes:block' tag to 'yes' when you didn't mean to.
It frequently complains that the feed is being identified as UTF-8 but being served as text, and this doesn't seem to matter to iTunes.
The basic test is to subscribe manually to your feed (or from the 'Subscribe' button in the Store) - in most cases if it works properly there it's fine.

ArchWiki Atom/Rss feeds in specific language

ArchWiki has atom/RSS "Recent changes" feeds.
How can I get feed of recent changes made in specific languages only?
For example feed of recent changes in English topics and another feed of recent changes in Russian topics.
Without changes in Italian, German, Chines, etc.

Unfortunately RSS feeds do not synchronize. Hopefully Apple will add this in the future. It seems as though this would be fairly simple to include so I'm optimistic that it will eventually show up. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

[Safari 3.2.1] Authenticated RSS Feeds Don't Remember Password

Hello there,
I am using Safari 3.2.1 on OS X 10.5.6. Machine is a 2.5 ghz Core 2 Duo MBP. For work, I use a number of RSS feeds that use authentication - I think HTTP basic auth. The feeds themselves are HTTPS, so the URLs look like:
feed:https://foobar.com/etc
The issue is that Safari won't retain keychain access for these feeds between restarts. So I open Safari, and the feed shows no new articles on the bookmark bar. I click on the bookmark, and I am prompted for the username and password. I check the box that says "add to keychain," and the feed continues to work as long as I'm running Safari. Shutting it down clears the cached credentials though, and then I am prompted again - even though I added the password to the keychain. When I open keychain access, I see a stored password for:
https://foobar.com
Any ideas? This is really hurting my workflow with RSS feeds for my job.

For your own sanity's sake and future sake of your system, you should run a disk block check using Apple Hardware Test, TechTool Deluxe or Pro, or DiskWarrior, whichever you have available.
The disk I/O error is a real phenomenon - there was a disk error reading a block on the disk.
By deleting the file in question, the bad block was released back into the free disk block pool, meaning it will show up in some other file in the future if it's actually a physical bad block on the disk.
What's more likely is that it was a block written with a bad checksum, which means the bad block will correct itself the next time that block on the disk is written to, so you may not see it again even if you use one of the disk tools I mentioned above.
But it's always good to test to make sure it isn't a physical bad block that will come back to haunt you when some other file on your system uses that disk block.

Authenticated RSS feeds viewer in Sharepoint 2010

Hi All,
I need to create an RSS feed viewer in the sharepoint page from an external site (Service Now) in which authentication is needed. I tried adding the OOTB RSS viewer webpart and found out that in our environment they are not allowing authenticated
RSS feeds. So there is no point of asking for changing the authentication settings also.
Could some one let me know if there is any workaround to include the authenticated RSS feeds viewer in the sharepoint environment. Please let me know if we can achieve the same through any CEWP?

Safari RSS feed suddenly requires authentication

I have a bunch of RSS feeds, which I subscribed to (and read) via Safari. A couple of them come from a BitTorrent tracker that I frequent. I have been using these feeds for at least a year, without error. All of a sudden, I'm getting an error saying:
Safari could not update this feed because it requires authentication
I input the same username/password that I use on the BitTorrent tracker, but it seems to get rejected. Additionally, there is no entry reflecting this feed in the Keychain. Can anyone give any advice here?

Quit Safari if it's open. Command + Q
Open Keychain Access. Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the *Safari Forms Autofill* keychain.
Relaunch Safari.

I need help getting my RSS feed compaitble with Itunes...Im almost there.

Can someone help me with my code for itunes. Unfortunately I use rapidweaver to podcast and I have read there are a few things Rapidweaver leaves out when publishing the site so itunes does not accept the feed. My RSS feed works and can be subscribed manually though Itunes or with software. Im thinking im using spaces or it looks like I need to number my tracks for my podcast(which sounds odd but, I know itunes is finicky with spaces, symbols etc)

It's better to post the URL of the feed (as you have subsequently done) than the contents of the feed .
From the FeedValidator report the feed is basically OK for iTunes. There are several occasions where 'content:encoded' sections (following immediately on 'guid' tags) should be enclosed in
<description>...</description>
tags: however all this will be ignored by iTunes anyway and only applies to other readers. The 'potentially dangerous content' referred to by FeedValidator is within the 'content:encoded' tags and so isn't relevant to iTunes. They are referring to an inline css style, and I don't know whether this might cause a problem elsewhere.
You should really have a language tag, e.g.
<language>en-us</language>
(you have a dc:language tag but that's for a different system). This should be placed in the top section, before the first 'item' tag.
It's advisable to have an 'itunes:explicit' tag for each 'item' -
<itunes:explicit>yes IF CONTAINS ADULT MATERIAL, OTHERWISE no</itunes:explicit>
it's not compulsory if you have no adult material, but you must have a 'yes' if you do.
You can check your feed by subscribing in iTunes from the 'Advanced' menu - this has the same result as clicking the 'Subscribe' button on the Store page. If it works OK there you are ready to submit it.

I am unable to submit my RSS feed into iTunes

Podcast RSS feed not being accepted by iTunes
I have registered my main podcast RSS feed in iTunes successfully. I want to migrate this RSS feed from feedburner to PowerPress, but I want to prototype it first before I move the real feed. To that end, I created another Blogger blog site and Feedburner rss feed that has the same settings as my main feed. The feed is using SmartCast to configure the RSS feed for iTunes compatibility. I cannot get the test feed to load into iTunes though. I get this error message:
Podcast cover art must be at least 1400x1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
I had the artist give me a 1400x1400 pixel version of the logo in RGB color space (I’m not sure how to verify this). Here is a link to the logo, if anyone can tell by looking at the picture or site what is wrong that needs to be fixed. http://s24.postimg.org/lvuuf7v91/ARP_logo_i_Tunes.jpg

I was shown on another forum that the web hosting site had resized the image. When I uploaded the image to Image Shack, it was fine. Image Shack does not resize the image on you.

How to get poster art in the RSS feed using Podcast Producer workflow

With podcast producer there are standard workflow which create atom feeds. I can not figure out how to automatically generate a poster image (or any type of images) associated with the video to show in the rss feed. Anyone got this to work?

You actually are publishing images. For example:

You aren't seeing these images because of the way Safari parses feeds. Try using curl from the command line or another browser. Safari and Podcast Producer really don't play well together. A good example is trying to use the SSL port to view feeds.
If you'd like to change the image to something common for all episodes in a workflow, select Window > Workflow Inspector in Podcast Composer. Be careful with your image dimensions, as it is posted unaltered.

but there is really nothing stopping you from using
<cfhttp> + <cfxml>
tags in cf7 to achieve what you want...
as for porting cf7 apps to cf8 - it is usually painless, but

just to check if you code runs fine in cf8, there is a code
analyser
available in cf admin.

How can I use an RSS feed in my course?

The University System of Georgia goes to considerable effort to provide its 36 institutions with a content management system that auto-generates RSS feeds, including iTunes U-specific tags. We use it to feed content to our iTunes U public sites as well as in many other venues such as our statewide LMS. These RSS feeds also work nicely with the authenticated side of iTunes U which some faculty still use to support their classes.
So why is it that I cannot use an RSS feed in my all new iTunes U course?

Just to confirm that you originally had a podcast accepted in the iTunes Store, and now you have had a second version accepted with a different Store URL? The procedure you have followed is the correct one, though I don't know how long it's likely to take the Store staff to get round to removing it. Just remove the original feed from the server: it will still show in the Store, which has cached it, but obviously subscribing won't work, and the absence of the feed may encourage the Store staff to remove the Store page.

RSS Feeds in Show and Share

Hi all,
We have deployed Show and Share in our enterprise, and Cisco DMM with DMP licenses.
We would like to integrate the Show and Share updates using the RSS feeds, is it possible to disable the authentication requirement for the RSS feed?

Mail in Mountain Lion no longer supports RSS feeds. You have to install an RSS feed reader, as the message suggested.

Web Services/RSS Feed to Share Content

We are using Netweaver 2004s and have some KM Content that I would like to share with other sites. The other sites are likely to be ASP written with Visual Studio 2008. The KM Content consists of some WPC Paragraphs and some custom XML Forms created with Forms builder.
I was thinking we could maybe supply the content to the other sites via RSS Feeds or a Web Service of some sort and while I can find information about consuming both within portal I haven't had any luck determining how to share this information from the portal.
Any advice or pointers to information regarding this subject are highly appreciated.

Not sure if this will help you, but SAP KM is a WebDAV server as well as client. Perhaps you can publish this content using WebDAV? I know WPC pages have an RSS link on them that you can configure... so maybe that is something you could use for the WPC content you describe.
Sorry I can't be of more help. You coud I suppose develop a custom portal component using the KM API the returned an RSS stream, you would probably have to make it anonymous access as I don't think RSS handles authentication.

RSS Feed help

I've switched all my RSS feeds to Mail, but for the past week, none of them have been showing up. Everytime I start Mail, multiple feeds, but not all, show an error message, while the rest of the feeds show know updates. I have updated all my software. It may be a matter of Atom vs. RSS feeds, but that wouldn't explain why none of the feeds are updating. Help?

i've found something similiar.
My RSS feeds are no longer updating automatically. (i've checked the setting, and they're set to every 15 minutes).
This has only started since the .2 update.
