Att disabled my data plan

Ok, so I have the original iphone with the standard data package. However, all of a sudden today, the internet stopped working. I went online and my data wasn't turned on. When I went to turn it back on, it said that my phone was incompatible with the feature. I can't call because their support line is closed but I just recently ordered a 3GS so I don't know if that has something to do with it.

The same thing happened to me. You will need to talk to someone. I never knew AT&T closed their support lines. After my upgrade, when I called I had no data plan, no family text as I should have and the phone was unidentified. They had to take my IMEI number to fix, add both the data and texting plans back. I also had to recycle the power on the phone before it would connect to data/internet.

  • Any change in tiered data plans in near future ?

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking forward to getting an android phone and my data usage limits are quite limited. I was wondering if verizon will compete with ATT on the data plans structure.
No matter what is being said on 200 MB not enough on a data plan, one can find many posts where people want to have lower limit data plans to afford them. Since Verizon and ATT have always been competitive in their plans and costs, is there a possibilty that Verizon will bring $15 - 200 MB Data plan to compete with ATT in order to may be retain or add more customers in that class. That way you can still have the customers who are looking to switch from basic calling plans to smartphones & then there is always the bigger cap plans who thinks 200MB is not enough.
I like verizon's network & coverage but ATT's pricing is quite attactive. It would be ironic to switch to ATT to later find the same plan on verizon.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
VZW tried this last year. It was a major flop in that those who did choose the lower limited plan, were screaming on here wanting their bill credited for their overages.
In short, VZW listened, they offered, subs did not like it and VZW pulled it. Yet the few left who have it are grandfathered.

  • How to apply Static IP address without disabling data plan

Our Network team does not want to open all ports on a server mobile staff needs to access.  We ordered static IP addresses and entered them on the firewall so they can specificall access.  Once the IP address is added to the iPad - the data plan is disabled.

I have just tried giving my iPhone's WiFi a static IP address and it did not stop the cellular data from working.
    I probably misunderstand your problem.
I presume by a static address you meant the WiFi, was this a company internal IP address or an external one?
There could be differences between the iPhone and the iPad in how it handles this situation, my iPad is WiFi only so I could not test this.
If you get no other suggestions on the forum I suggest a visit to Appe store if possible or a phone call to Apple. If you are not under Apple Care there may be a charge for the telephone support but may save a lot of hassle. The option is to ask your Data plan provider.
Sorry I can offer no other suggestions.

  • How tonfigure new ipad to use att data plan

how do I configure an ipad bought outside the US to use an ATT prepaid data plan, I already got the ATT SIM Card but I dont seemed to make it work.

    Contact AT&T.

  • How to rest ATT Data Plan?

I bought a 3G iPad from eBay and today I went to setup the ATT Cellular Data plan.
When it logs into ATT to setup, it has the old owners email address listed and no password. There is no reset to clear this info out and setup a new plan.
I'm on the phone with ATT but they have no clue, anyone know how to setup a new user?
The only thing I can think of is to get a new Micro SIM from ATT.

    2 things i would do:
    a) new sim card (same as you would with a 2nd hand phone)
    b) restore ipad to clear ALL old data out

  • Upgrade to IOS 5 is causing my Iphone 3gs to go over my AT&T data plan

Ever since I upgraded my Iphone 3gs to IOS 5, I have been going over my 200mb data plan with AT&T. I never had a problem with going over my data plan before this update. I looked up my invoice and noticed that when I downloaded the IOS software, I was being charged for it while I was on Wi fi at home. I called AT&T and they removed the $15 data overage charge but I still am going over my data plan and I don't even use my phone. I read on the apple bulletin boards that there might be a virus in the Icloud software, so I deleted the Icloud. I have turned off all push notifications and now I have turned off the cellular data, which makes no sense to do but it has helped. I downloaded the Dataman app to monitor my data constantly. I contacted AT&T and they told me to contact Apple about this problem. Are there any other suggestions? I already updated to the IOS 5.01 and that still did not help. I don't want to upgrade my ATT data plan and pay more money since I already shelled out an extra $15 this month for the overrage.

    Disable firewall on your computer.
If you have iOS 5.0 or later, update directly from the phone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Follow up quesiton on data plan and face time quesiton

First I have to apologize for asking a non-apple question, especially after some comments I made, but I just want to make sure of something as I do not trust what I hear from ATT. If I downgrade from the unlimited plan, and when Netflix has streaming to the iphone I realize I'm using more than 2gb/month, I will be able to go back to the unlimited plan AS A CURRENT SUBSCRIBER, even after several months.
Second, regarding face time, does anyone know if the 3gs has the capability to view a video sent from an iphone 4 user? (I realize there is no software for it, but maybe this is in Apple's future??)

FaceTime is only iPhone4 to iPhone4, but im sure you can still send a video from an iPhone 4 to any other device including an iPhone 3GS. I am just speculating, so dont quote me on that. and once you give up your unlimited data plan you will NOT be able to go back.... EVER

  • No international data plan for one year-???

Here is the background.  I moved over to Verizon about 4 months ago from Alltel.  I did this because I wanted to be able to have a blackberry with international BBm'ing.  I did not go with ATT because there coverage was spotty in my area.  Since the move, I would say my Alltel coverage was 3x better then the cuurent verizon in my house even with the network extender ( BB don't work well with network extender compare to droids, according to the VZW reps).  I did not stay with Alltel because they did not have the storm2.  I needed 6 lines and a mifi and the local verizon rep told me no problem that they could do one primary line and 5 additonal line plus the mifi but after I signed up they realized that I maxed out at 5 lines on one account and they made me make my 6th line a primary line and then added the mifi to the 2nd account.  More costs per month.  Within a month of having my VZW account, one of my kid went to China and we were able to add the international data plan for her trip so she could BBM us.  No problems.
Here is the problem.  I am going abroad in 2 days and would like to put the international data plan on 2 phones for the trip.  The rep says he cannot do becaue the polciies have changed with the "xerox" buyout and they won't let me do it for the following reasons.
    1.  I have not had my phones for more than one year even though I paid a deposit on them
    2. I have 7 lines on one account- not true I have one account with 1 primary line and 4 additional lines and I have another account with one primary line and the mifi account.  they are all billed on the same statement.  If they are all "one account" then VZW owes me a refund on the 2nd account's primary line as they cannot have it both ways.
We came to verizon for the purpose of BBM’ing when going international and now we cannot use it.  I am paying over $500.00 a month and have not been late on any payments, paid a deposit on the phones, am paying for 2 primary lines and did this a few weeks ago for my daughter and now I cannot add the international option again for a week of vacation abroad?  This is really upsetting and pretty much the last straw if it does not get resolved before this trip.  I should have stayed at Alltel or went to ATT and got an I phone because this is no better.    The rep I talked too was bedeviled by this policy and went two levels up in supervisors and was denied.  They are supposed to call me to resolve this issue tonight or in the morning.
    {word filter avoidance}

    Update:
I got a call from my local rep at the store where I bought all the phones.  She said they called corporate and all blocks on my international data plan have been removed?  I will stop by this afternoon and confirm that it has all been done???? I still cannot believe how many hoops I will have had to jump through to get this done as it was done 2 months ago, if it actually gets done.
If it does not get done then i will be requesting to be let out of my contract for breach of contract on Verizon's part as it was never told to me that I could not have international service for one year after signing up and we were able to do it within a month of signing up initially.  Will post updates

  • Autopay account fails to make payment after account changed on UNLIMITED DATA PLAN

Auto pay feature fails to make payments without any logical reason:  About 7 months ago I changed my account using My Verizon webpage.  It has repeatedly failed to make a payment, resulting in over-charges and Verizon imposing a cash-only status for six months.  My bank - and Verizon - confirmed that account information was correct, and no one could account why this was occurring, but read on!  I believe this is more than a billing company or computer-generated glitch.  I have an unlimited data account that was started years ago, and I believe many of you who have these accounts may be having the same billing issue.  It is the prerogative of wireless carriers to now make huge profits by selling variable data plans from people needing more data bandwidth per month - in fact - it is projected that we will use 3000 GB/month by 2017!  New accounts cost way more than my month-to-month; they lose money on people like us.  I believe wireless carriers are trying every tactic they can to eject "unlimited data customers" from their plans.  Having a lapsed billing cycle is one way the contract can dissolve.
I believe these repetitive mysterious auto-pay failures are very result of in-company tampering to disrupt service.  Unfortunately, Verizon did not know that I am a consumer advocate...I know, you are thinking they don't give a... who you are, they are powerful.  I have been taking on such companies, including the CEO's of large companies like ATT, USAA, etc. since 1998.  I have reported thousands of products, services and individuals on 10 global consumer websites in three languages during those years, and used federal and international agencies.  Law enforcement globally has often been used to arrest and convict many online criminals and even foreign pirates.  With a law-enforcement background, and in a family of four powerful attorneys, two judges and two law-enforcement agents - I have an edge on resources and knowledge even powerful companies do not have.  Yes, I am an expert in making life difficult, to impossible for many individuals who under-estimate me.   I wasn't about to have a cash-only punitive measure impounded on me, when I could legally verify from my bank; and from electronic forensics of the Verizon website that the bank information, including a consistent balance of $10 - 17k in that account. Verizon then requested a fax letter from my bank verify the account information so it could be used; just another tactic to harass me.  This type of request is a throwback from the 1980's before electronic communication.
This said, I am suspicious that this may be happening to many more customers than me.  If it is, I would like to hear about this.  Please post experience, and if you also have an unlimited data contract, so I can make an analysis of it.  If I am right, then our collective allegations can be used to generate appropriate complaints and investigations by agencies governing business conduct and licensing of wireless providers, to include possible class-action suits, as well as civil suits, regardless of what your contract states.

JEMAWOD, there's no need to be suspicious. We want to make sure that all of your concerns are addressed. The cash only status on your account will not affect your option to keep the Unlimited data plan. Cash only status is prompted when two payments within a 6 month time period are returned by your financial institution. However, this status is removed after 6 months of good pay history. Did you verify the banking information that you provided when you set up Auto pay? Did you have a chance to contact your bank to verify why those payments were returned?
I hope that the information that I've provided is helpful to you.

  • Enterprise Data Plan required for Exchange Active Sync?

    From:
    http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iphone-info.jsp
"What is the Enterprise Data plan?
Customers interested in using iPhone to access corporate email, business applications or corporate intranet will activate with an Enterprise Data Plan for iPhone."
So, if I have a normal $30 data plan will I be able to connect to my companies Exchange server with email/contacts/calendar push? Is there really a way AT&T could prevent me from using the Exchange Active Sync on the iPhone 3G without the Enterprise data plan?
I'm just a regular guy who works at a small company and would like my personal cell phone - used 99% of the time for personal needs - to be able to access my work email/calendar/contacts.

Ok, so I went by the AT&T store this afternoon to pre-approve my credit in order to save time on the 11th. Well, turns out it won't help, because they told me they are going to have to run a special iPhone credit check the day you buy it anyway, so it is pointless to get pre-approved (great job AT&T).
But, back to the subject at hand, they gave me this piece of paper with all this info on getting ready for the iPhone. Under the iPhone for business heading, it reads:
"It's easy to set up your iPhone for business use on company intranet sites, corporate email or other business applications. SIMPLY SELECT ANY BUSINESS VOICE RATE PLAN and add a $45 Enterprise Data plan for iPhone..."
To me, this would mean that you would have to start with a base business plan, then add the iPhone Enterprise data. Well, if you are an individual opening a personal account, can you even sign up for a business plan? If this is the case, then their own literature prevents you from even getting the Enterprise plan if you wanted to. It seems to me that the would be proof that you don't HAVE to have the Enterprise plan to use ActiveSync, Exchange, etc.

  • For people with an unlimited data plan...does it slow down for you after 2GB?

Ive had my unlimited data plan since i joined AT&T back in 2008 when  i bought the iPhone 3G...ive been able to keep it for my current iPhone 4 and now ill be upgrading to iPhone 5 and was wondering if anyone else with an unlimited data plans suffers slowing down of data after 2GB? it mite b more than 2GB but it def does slow down...will this continue to happen or it is it just me?

    AT&T's policy explained - http://www.att.com/esupport/datausage.jsp?source=IZDUel1160000000U
Click the "what you need to know".  If you exceed 3GB you will be throttled, and you should receive a text message about it the first time you go over.

  • Using iphone 5 with att prepaid go phone plan will it work?

will i be able to use the iphone 5 with the att go phone prepaid plan?

And the OP was specifically asking about an iPhone 5.
What's unclear is if AT&T is including their HSPA+ network as "4G" It is technically 4G according to th ITU and they market it that way.
They do specify that pre-paid data is for feature phones only. Not smartphones of any type. From the same document:
    Data Services for Smartphones
To use data services, smartphone users must be on a monthly rate plan and purchase a data feature package. Data Pay Per Use is not available with smartphones on any GoPhone rate plan.
It may be possible, but if they catch you, and they eventually will, they will shut charge you for it and/or shut down the account.

  • Do I have to buy a data plan? please read desc.

I would like to purchase a iphone 4 (maybe 5) but i would ONLY like to continue with my plan with talk and text. I would NOT like to purchase a data plan for this phone.
I would like the phone for its other uses including apps and music and such. But NOT the web features unless i use wifi. I do not want to pay for a data plan if im not going to even use it...
Is there a "pay as you go" plan for the iphone so i only have to pay the 30 bucks IF I use the web and or download something via web outside of wifi capabilities?

AT&T will most definitely require a data plan for an iPhone used on its network.
For T-Mobile you wouldn't have to have a data plan, since you would be bringing your own phone.  T-Mobile does not have an iPhone for its network.  If they do get one in the near future, you would have to buy the phone full price in order to not have the data plan.
I am pretty sure I heard somewhere that AT&T offered smartphones without data plans, I have heard many complaints about Verizon not selling smartphones without a data plan, and I am pretty sure they said something like that they were able to do so on AT&T/T-Mobile, so why not Verizon?
I don't see T-Mobile getting the iPhone, and if they do, it will still technically be the AT&T iPhone, AT&T bought out T-Mobile (US) from Deutsche Telekom in Germany, so AT&T technically owns (or will own) T-Mobile, I am not sure if AT&T plans on keeping the T-Mobile name though
Nope, AT&T requires a data plan of atleast $15 a month for all smartphones.

Just like Verizon's site, if you read the fine print under each smartphone picture, it says this.
T-Mobile also requires a data plan for smartphones.
    http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/
I didn't know about that, though that only seems to apply if you buy the phone at the 2yr contract price, therefore if you buy the phone at retail price, or bring in an unlocked phone, a SIM without a data plan could be used in a smartphone and the smartphone should work without a data plan
With Verizon on the other hand, being a CDMA network and no CDMA phone can be "unlocked" and doesn't use SIM cards, even if someone did bring in their own CDMA smartphone (flashed for Verizon of course) or bought their smartphone at retail price, they would still need a data plan, wouldn't they?

  • WiFi & Data Plans

Hi. First of all I bought an unlocked AT&T Blackberry Torch on eBay. Since I'm a low volume user I'm using H2O Pre-Paid $29.99/month plan where the data rate is too high.
I need to make sure my phone will never try to connect to the internet via the service provider. I would, however, like to use WiFi on a daily basis since everywhere I go there is basically always some wifi coverage. How do I make sure that when I click "Browser" it uses wifi instead of the mobile network? Also, what are some alternatives for the Blackberry apps that work exclusivley with the service provider internet(like email, IM, etc.)?
I tried going into "Mobile network options" and disabled "Data services" but then I couldnt use wifi anymore. I know its using the wifi because it works even if I take my sim card out.
I really need to figure this out because a year from now I'm moving back to my country(middle of nowhere) where I'll have only wifi. No fancy AT&T data plans there..
And I have 1 more question: What barcode reader apps can I use with a pre-loaded database in the phone or wifi? Same question for GPS apps.

First, find a Wi-Fi hotspot (your home wireless router, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc.) and save that in your Wi-Fi profiles.  This is done by scanning for an open Wi-Fi network and accepting it into your list.  Then, as long as you're within range of that Wi-Fi spot, your phone will default to that connection over your network connection.  If you want to be POSITIVE that you're not touching your network connection (because the Wi-Fi connection could drop suddenly and you'd then be using the network connection), you'll have to go to your Manage Connections and turn off your network connection.  Of course, when you do this you won't be able to accept any calls.
As for your questions about the QR code scanner and the GPS app, I have no suggestions.
    I hope that helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

Hi Meteor! I would like to disable for few months my unlimited data because I wont be in Ireland for few months and I would like to keep the money only for calls.  How I could disable it? Thanks in advance,Loren

    Hi Loren81,
If you are on the 7.5GB Data plan you just need to choose a plan where you keep your credit and your old plan will be removed.
