Attach .html to domain name

If anyone can help. I have contacted Apple phone support and they say this is impossible but I believe different.
I am trying to verify my site(web space/domain) with GOOGLE. All they want is for me to attach a .html file to my domain. I created a site using iWeb and have attached(linked) it to my domain space I have(www.domain.com) all GOOGLE want to verify is
Once you verify that you're the site owner, we can provide you with comprehensive statistics and error information about the pages in your site. If you're unable to verify, you can still use the webmaster tools, submit Sitemaps, and see detailed information about those Sitemaps as well as basic information about your site. [?]
We offer two methods of verification. You can either upload an HTML file with a name we specify, or you can add a meta tag to your site's index file. Choose your preferred method below. [?]
Create the HTML verification file specified below and upload it to http://www.thekakeman.com/. [?]
googleffd2dd2cfdbdadb0.html
1. I've created a file named googleffd2dd2cfdbdadb0.html.
2. I've uploaded the file to http://www.thekakeman.com/ and can view http://www.thekakeman.com/googleffd2dd2cfdbdadb0.html in my browser.
This domain has been launched onto the internet with my .mac account. According to google AND my .com provider I have to do this through my .mac since it is launched through there.
I have tried to drag this file to the iDisk folder on my .mac account but no joy. Also created a page in iWeb and attached the file...no joy.
Any takers?

HI Varkgirl
iWeb and my problem persists. I have followed all experst instructions with adding HTML files to my site so that GOOGLE can verify it but I am still unable to do so and now get the following message which APPLE are refusing to help me with this matter as they say it is my Domain companies responsibility..I feel it iWEB!
Here is the Lead.......
We've detected that your server returns a status of 200 (found successfully) for pages that don't exist.
We've detected that your server returns a status of 200 (found successfully) for pages that don't exist. We can't verify sites with this configuration because it would enable anyone to verify ownership of your site. You can try our meta tag verification method or change your server's configuration.
This configuration presents a security risk for site verification and therefore, we can't verify your site. If your web server is configured to return a status of 200 (found) in the header of 404 (not found) pages, and we enabled you to verify your site with this configuration, others would be able to take advantage of this and verify your site as well. To ensure that no one can take advantage of this configuration to view statistics to sites they don't own, we only verify sites that return a status of 404 in the header of 404 pages.
If your server is configured to return something other than a 404 for non-existent pages, try our meta tag verification method or change your server's configuration.
You can change your web server configuration to return a status of 404 in the header of 404 pages and still provide a custom error page (see Apache information and IIS information). Note that we do a HEAD request (and not a GET request) when we check for this. Once your web server is configured correctly, try to verify the site again and we'll recheck your configuration.
Can you make any sense of this?
Thank you for your help
Gavin

  • Having problems attaching a purchased domain name to my muse project

It was previously used by another student from last year's class who also also used Muse but i cannot overwrite his version as it says the domain is in use. Do I need to amend the nameserver to something more unique than the name server that is mentioned in the tutorials i.e. NS1.WORLDSECURESYSTEMS.COM. domain purchased from goDaddy.

  • Attaching a Domain name

I recently purchases a domain name and now I want to attach
it to an actual site I've been working on. My dad owns the web
space and I've established a link from his site to my own but I
don't know how to attach the domain to the actual site. If someone
could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

In general- an account has to be set up on the hosting for
    this domain, and
you set the DNS (Domain Name Servers) at the domain name
    Registrar to the
    name server for that hosting.
If the hosting account has a WHM web hosting control panel,
    add the account
    there.

  • Is domain name requirement is compulsory when exporting to html

    Hi all
Just trying to create a test website using Muse 3.2
But after creating some 3/4 pages i've tried to Export to HTML... but it asked for Domain name for export...
What if I don't have a Domain name with me right now??? or client havent decided yet for any Domain name?
I know its asking Domain name for creating Typekit Fonts & SEO Sitemap.xml.
But what if i use a dummy Domain name like "www.1.com" etc to export?? & try to test it on my PC? or upload it to any other location is there any problem?
    pls help

Don't be confused by the same names; there are 2 Justin's in this thread.
I'm sorry you took my post as an attack on the Adobe staff.  I was not passing judgement on the questions the staff asked, or the lack of additional staff response when they went unanswered.
Rather, I was expressing surprise/disappointment that the COMMUNITY did not provide any additional comments in a whole year.
It turns out there a several other threads (which is where I got the clue about the issue that I was having).
BTW, in my case I did move the images to the assets folder, and re-linked them.  However, I guess Muse keep track of the fact they were in the images folder originally and consequently did not subsequently export them.
I would think an option for a fresh/full export (as is provided for the FTP) would be a good enhancement to Muse.

  • Export to html- what is the domain name?

When exporting as an html file what domain name is it asking for?

It's asking for the website address you'll eventually upload the site to.
If you're going to upload the site to www.calyn-is-awesome.com, enter that for the domain name.
Muse uses this information when it needs to refer to your site address while generating the HTML for your site.

  • IWEB, CNAME, Personal domain name

If anyone could provide some advice it would be very much appreciated - Tom thanks for you earlier help. I attach the latest email to Apple Support.
Hi Arthur, (The Apple Support Consultant)
We still have the same problems, even after entirely deleting all websites, idisks etc and carrying out the steps you asked (even though this is what we had already explained to you that we had done!). To requalify we have:
    a) Ensured that we have a proper domain name (www.mpi.com.au)
    b) Ensured that we have created a CNAME alias (www.mpi.com.au -> web.mac.com)
    c) Associating the name www.mpi.com.au as our personal domain
    d) Allowed more than 48 hrs
    e) no case sensitivities
    f) publish to site WITHOUT registering www.mpi.com.au to dotmac, works perfectly (ie from web with http://web.mac.com/mpimpi/Sites/index.html and when you log into .mac ([email protected]) and check My Pages, any of the pages work properly.
    g) more interesting is when you log into .mac ([email protected]) after registering www.mpi.com.au as our personal domain and republish whole site and check the account settings personal domain you see www.mpi.com.au listed and when you click on it you see a redirection to web.mac.com and then to http://www.apple.com/dotmac.
    h) Further interesting effects occur when you log into .mac ([email protected]) and check My Pages, any of the pages (ie "About Us" redirects to http://www.mpi.com.au/Sites/About_Us.html) and then to http://www.mac.com/account_error.html. (Apples I'm Sorry - Our records show that the account you're attempting to connect to either does not exist or is currently inactive page).
    i) the account is paid for and appears to be active!
    DNS entries:
    Host Record type Value
    64.13.248.146/24 PTR mpi.com.au.
    ftp.mpi.com.au. CNAME mpi.com.au.
    mail.mpi.com.au. A 64.13.248.146
    mpi.com.au. NS ns.mpi.com.au.
    mpi.com.au. A 64.13.248.146
    mpi.com.au. MX(10) mail.mpi.com.au.
    ns.mpi.com.au. A 64.13.248.146
    webmail.mpi.com.au. A 64.13.248.146
    www.mpi.com.au CNAME web.mac.com.
Arthur, we realy need to get this resolved can we get developer/senior problem solver assistance. I think that the items points g & h are very relevant!

After great assistance from Apple (thanks Arthur!!) and our new DNS service provider we have our website online and working as required. The resolution required a switch to another DNS service provider.
We are now using SecuritySpace (www.securityspace.net, www.securityspace.com). They are extremely competent, very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I've suggest that Apple list a set of known DNS providers that dotmac clients should deal with. I cc'ed SecuritySpace support on this mail.
    Best regards,

    Hi Sam
Attached is a zip file that contains screen shots of the export boxes, and error message.
The first two, which had http:// plus variations on the web dom name failed. The 3rd which merely had the domain name no http//: exported without any problem.
I hope this helps. If you need anything else please do not hesitate to contact me, as I like the programme and wish to help in any way to assist re bugs.

Why are you using a single labeled domain? I would recommend renaming the domain name to be something like domain.com.
Please refer to the articles below to fix your current issue:

  • Is it possible to restrict the ability to e-mail a pdf outside a specific domain name?

    Hello,
I am trying to find a solution to a friends problem.  She has a quarterly publication that she sends out to big banks and financial institutions.  Recently she has had some problems with press leaks.  I am trying to find some security options for her however the task is difficult. Because these institutions have firewalls I am not sure encrypting or tracking is the right answer because the publication might not make it through. She wants users to be able to print the publication because many of the readers are older and prefer to read during their commute and at home.  Essentially I am looking for any ways to make readers think twice about sharing the information. I thought if I could restrict e-mail to a specific domain name that would help this way users can only e-mail within their specific company.  If any one has any suggestions please feel free to share.

Thank you Todd, I was able to get it to work but I do have a few more questions...
    1) When I tested this, at the top of the message, before any of the text I created, this showed up: This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------040406040801080102080500 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

(It was actually much longer than that)
Is there anyway that I can get that to go away? I obviously would prefer a nice, cleanly formatted e-mail to be sent just like I would send if I were creating it on the spot.

  • Postfix relay=none, ... status=deferred (Host or domain name not found...

    Hi,
I actually posted this question 2 weeks ago but under the wrong topic. So, first of all wanted to apologise for double-posting... but since no one replied, I thought I'd try again under the right topic.
I've been trying to solve this all day today (that was Feb 26th). I used to be able to send emails but for some reason it does not work anymore. At first I thought it was a problem with php (I use entropy pack php 5.2.6) but after searching the topic, I think it is a problem with my network. BTW OS is 10.5.5 and Postfix version 2.4.3
First of all, after computer restart, I don't think postfix starts automatically
Running 'sudo postfix start' gives me:
postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system
    Looking at '/var/log/mail.log' I find:
    Feb 27 12:51:04 AMs-MBP postfix/qmgr331: AA70A7A7C77: from=<[email protected]>, size=842, nrcpt=1 (queue active)

Running 'sudo postfix check' does not give me any errors
Checking my '/etc/resolv.conf' it has nameserver 192.168.1.1
    Running 'ifconfig | grep netmask | grep -v 127.0.0.1 | awk {'print $2'}L' gives:
    192.168.1.5
Checking http://switch.richard5.net/2006/08/19/fatal-open-lock-file-pidmasterpid/ and running 'launchctl list' gives me a long list but no item matches org.postfix.master
    Running 'ps aux|grep postfix' gives

Running 'postconf inet_interfaces' at first gave me
    inet_interfaces = localhost
which I changed to All in '/etc/postfix/main.cf'
    I looked at http://www.postfix-book.com/debugging.html
Running 'telnet localhost 25' gives me

But running 'telnet 10.1.2.233 25' gives me
    Trying 10.1.2.233...
telnet: connect to address 10.1.2.233: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
Running 'ping 134.169.9.107' takes a long time. After a while I stop it and get:
    PING 134.169.9.107 (134.169.9.107): 56 data bytes

    + 134.169.9.107 ping statistics ---
28 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
I have not idea what the problem is and/or how to fix it. I know the messages get to the postfix daemon but for some reason they do not continue on their way.
Please, does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
    TIA,
    Elle

Dynamic IP addresses with DynDNS Updater (or equivalent) makes it pretty darned reliable, particularly if you buy DynDNS' Mailhop Forward service, which prevents the likes of roadrunner.com and aol.com from blocking mail coming from your server just because it lives in dynamicIP-land. Way cheaper than paying your ISP extra for a static IPA, too, and totally acceptable for low-volume, residential-based servers for personal not-for-profit use.
Regarding reliable delivery to a dynIPA server, you are only at risk of non-receipt for perhaps a few minutes immediately following when your ISP rotates your WAN IPA, until DynDNS Updater (or equivalent) updates the DynDNS (or equivalent) servers with your new WAN IPA. But that's really not a problem because I think all, well, okay, most, smtp servers will queue for a redelivery attempt if the initial delivery attempt just happens to occur at that time.
I wouldn't suggest this practice for high-volume enterprise-class servers or for people trying to run a bootleg mail server business for profit (besides, the ISP would shut it down as an abuse of terms of service, anyways), but for low-volume, residential-based servers for personal use and enjoyment, which I suspect is the case for the O.P., I can't say that I find anything unreliable about my dynamic IP-based mail server.

  • How do I use my own domain name  with Mac server with iWeb

For a number of years I have had my own domain name that when typed into a browser it would redirect the browser to my site on the .Mac server. I hear with iLife ’08 I can have my own domain name hosted by .Mac so I know longer have to have the long addresses for each pages the I have now for my site (i.e. the http://web.mac.com/thewildhearts/WildheartPhotography/NatureGalleries.html). How do I go about getting my domain name (wildheartphotography.com) so that Mac will host it and do I need to notify the current host that Mac will be hosting my site now?
Thanks. I really appreciate the help I get from this forum.
    Pat

It's very easy, really. You go to your domain control and redirect the address. IPower, for example points the domain name very easily: you just type in the URL of your site and it will point to your mac server.
I've used GoDaddy before and it is a bit more difficult to "point".

how do i use my own domain name with creative cloud?
i don't want to post web pages from behance.net. i want to use the domain name i have for my material. is there a hosting service for this? if not, can someone give me some pointers so I can publish?

http://forums.adobe.com/community/behance is where you would ask about publishing to "something else" from that program
I use OLD Dreamweaver, and upload my HTML with an FTP program to my own web site... I will GUESS you can do that, if you can save HTML to your hard drive to then be able to upload to your web site

  • The window where Domain Name, Edit, Modify doesn't show up to access my Fatcow website on my new iMac in Firefox (the only browser Macs can use). Help!

Just got a new iMac. For the first few days, I was able to log in to, then access the window in Fatcow web host that allows me to make changes to my website. Now, the window that is supposed to say "Domain Name" and "Edit" and "Modify" is blank, so I cannot access my website to make changes. Firefox is the only browser available to Macs through Fatcow. In the two weeks before getting the iMac, I had the same problem on an Acer laptop. Hughesnet is our internet provider, since we live in the country. I have worked with several Fatcow techs, and they do not believe the problem is on their end. When I open Firefox, there is now also a message that says I'm missing plugins, yet when I follow the plugin link, no plugins are listed as missing. I have removed/reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. I have turned off the clear-cookies-automatically add-on, cleared the cache and history, etc., to no avail. I have printed out the HTML script for the Fatcow window from my Mac at work (from which I can access the window) and compared to the one at home. There doesn't appear to be any script missing, but I can't say for sure. I have read several articles, hoping for clues to fixing this problem. Now I need your technical expertise. HELP!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    <b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

  • Multiple Web Sites with Personal Domain Names - Overview

I have read through the last 10 pages of these discussions and have almost worked this out, but I need some help.
    Problem:
I want to publish and edit two separate web sites with their own, individual, personal web addresses
from the same user account on the same Mac using iWeb '08 (2.0.2) and my .Mac account
    _So far:_
I have purchased and registered the two domain names (with Cheap-DomainRegistration.com)
I have configured the CNAME to point to web.mac.com, and "Set up a Personal Domain" in iWeb successfully, but using a separate Mac for each web site.
    The two sites work great.
_What (I think) I need to know:_
(excuse me for copying these posts out, but I can't find a way to link them to this post)
    1) Should I be using iWebSites as suggested by Old Toad (posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
    2) Should I be using Mireille's approach (also posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
Yes you are correct in the thought that with a family pack you can use different accounts and that is the easiest way to upload with one click to .mac. But it is still possible to publish differents sites to one .mac account if that is all one has. Even if the sites are in one domain file each purchased mysite.com domain name purchased can be pointed to a different page in the site
    Look at it this way
    Original Poster has
site1 page 1 page 2 and so on
then he/she has brothersite page 1 and so on.
They each have a domain name purchase wherever
then site1domain.com is forwarded to site 1 page1
and brotherdomain.com is forwarded to brothersite page 1.
Even though both sites are in the same file they do not have anything to do with each other.
This is one possibility there are others but for a novice user this could be the way to go for simplicity.
(Mireille, if you're there, can you clarify what you said - thank you)
    3) Would I use Roddy's fix (posted Jan 23 in response to canadensis' "Publishing Multiple Websites?")?
Here's an example of how you can separate two websites that are on the same domain file.
    Quit iWeb
Create a new folder on your desktop and call it "iWeb Sites".
Inside this folder create two more - Website A, Website B.
Go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and copy your domain file - command C
Paste this into folders A and B - command V - and also paste a copy of it somewhere else - like in Docs - in case you make a mistake!
Double click the domain file in the folder Website A - this will launch iWeb.
In the left column, delete site B, save and quit iWeb.
Double click the domain file in the folder Website B to launch iWeb.
Delete website A, save and quit.
Drop the iWeb sites folder into your Home Folder.
If you want quick access to this folder you can highlight it and do command L to create an alias to leave on the desktop.
From now on, to launch any site in iWeb you open its folder in the iWebsites folder and double click the domain file.
This is not necessary when you are working on only one site as iWeb saves the domain file of the last site you were working on to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb. When you open the iWeb application, the last site you worked on will be launched.
    Summary:
I'm not sure if some of the answers in previous discussions allow for personal domain names, which is what I need.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm getting bogged down.
    Many Thanks,
    Jeff

When you said, "you don't need to do CNAME for both sites…", would this method still allow me to use personal web addresses for both sites?
Yes. With "Ordinary Forwarding" you normally just type your .Mac url (web.mac.com/username/sitename) into a form at the place where you have your name.
I thought I was using 'web.mac.com' as the 'www' CNAME (alias) for my personal domain name (web address), so that when someone typed in my personal domain name they would 'go' to the domain registration location, which would then pass it on to the .Mac server, where my web site is hosted.
That's exactly right. It's just not the only way to do that. Ordinary Forwarding is another way, but it differs in terms of what appears in the address bar of the browser. Either you will see web.mac.com/username/.... or, if you add "masking", you will see your personal name for all pages. The CNAME method results in a address bar that reads www.myname.com/sitename/pagename.html.
    Am I way off?
    All help gratefully received,
    Jeff

  • Can you host multiple domain names on mobile me with iWeb '09?

    Hi
Can anyone help, before I upgrade to iLife '09, I have a personal web domain name which I host on my mobileme account. My girlfriend now wants a website and I have bought her a domain name and want to use iWeb to design it but I can't seem to host multiple domains on iWeb '08, can you with iLife '09? Or will she have to buy her own mobile me account? Any help will be great!!!
    Thanks

MobileMe -MME -is Apple's hosting service.
Domain Name System - DNS translates an understandable address like www.mywebsite.com into the IP address which is a number like 40:75:92:301.
Cname is a name of record in a database that records what domain name goes to what IP address.
IP address is just a unique number that identifies any device connected to the internet.
An FTP client is an application the uploads your files to a server using File Transfer Protocol.
I mainly use Web Site Maestro because it doesn't just upload the files but optimizes them first to remove all the unnecessary code that iWeb creates to allow your website to download at least 30% faster.
I also use Yummy FTP for sorting out and keeping track of my files on the server and uploading folders of images and music files along with their assets for flash presentations.
I have used Host Excellence for years because of the way they allow you to name your own root folder on the server and also their great tech support.
FTP and servers can be a bit confusing but, if you have a good hosting company, you can get by on very little knowledge and understanding. I do!
I couldn't agree more with you about the acronyms and jargon. The more people use them usually means the less they know. One of the most misused words is "domain". I tried to sort that one out here...

Now I'm going FUH and ATNP.
