Attach Operation is disabled in READ ONLY MODE - solman_setup error message
Hello Gurus,
I am in the phase - Connect Diagnostic Agent of the Solman_Setup for Solman 7.0 EHP1.
I don't have any managed system connected yet.
When I try to attach the SMD agent in the SLDAgentCandidates screen...I get two messages as detailed below:
2011.04.13 20:14:12, Managing System 'SL1.SystemHome.sol' is registered in the SLD, Customization of Managing system settings is disabled but it is not a problem to attach the agent.
2011.04.13 20:14:12, Attach operation is disabled in READ ONLY MODE. The current logon user is not a member of Administrator
Please what am I doing wrong because I even gave full authorization (SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW) to user SLDAPIUSER and i have also tried with a few user accounts wilth full authorization like J2EE_ADMIN and my SOLMAN administrator.
Hello John,
You get the ead-only message because your connected to the local SLD. You need to connect to the productive SLD.
But the other message (Customization of Managing system settings is disabled) I get also. Did you solve it already?

AW attach in Read-only Mode in AWM
Hi,
How can I attach an AW in Read-only mode in AWM, so that multiple developers can open an AW but only one can modify it?
Regards, AnirbanSee the documentation for the AW ATTACH command.

RW
Specifies that the workspace is attached in read/write access mode. Only one user can have an analytic workspace open in read/write at a time. The user has to commit either all or none of the changes made to the workspace.
An analytic workspace that is attached read/write non-exclusive can be accessed simultaneously by several sessions. The read/write non-exclusive attach mode is only compatible with the read-only access mode. A user can attach an analytic workspace in read/write mode when other users have the workspace attached in read-only mode; however, a user cannot attach an analytic workspace in read/write mode when another user has it attached in any other mode. Likewise, a user cannot attach an analytic workspace in any mode other than read-only when another user has it attached in read/write non-exclusive mode. When you attach an analytic workspace with read/write access, Oracle OLAP executes a program called PERMIT_WRITE, when it finds one in the workspace.

Gurus,
I have three essbase databases in my environment, and I am planning to run a command to sync the three dataases.
During the sync process, I do not want the users to log in to any of the databases, meaning I dont want users to have access to any of them or change any data in the databases.
Is there a way where I can put the databases in 'read-only' mode so that I can run the command.
Or is there any other script or any process I can use so that users wont have access until I complete the sync process.
Any suggestion is appreciateD
ThanksMaxl would probably be your best bet since you are likely using it with the data migrations.
alter application "appName" disable connects; /* nobody lower than applciation manager can connect */
This has a number of options
- disable updates
- disable commands (Prevent all requests to databases in the application, including non-data-specific requests, such as viewing database information or changing database settings. All users are affected, including other administrators. Administrators are affected by this setting as a safety mechanism to prevent accidental updates to databases during maintenance operations.)
More detailed info is at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/maxl_altapp.html.

EDITED
If this is a planning application, you will also want to deal with those connecting to Essbase through Planning. This is handled through the Application Mode (see http://in2hyperion.com/post/2012/09/26/Change-Application-Maintenance-Mode-via-Command-Line.aspx on automating). Keep in mind, any connection from Planning to Essbase uses an admin ID, not the user ID.

ALV: columns in read-only mode look like editable columns in edit mode
Hi,
My application contains an ALV table which should be toggled between display and edit mode like the rest of the fields.
The evident solution was to use
if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_read_only( abap_true or abap_false)
However, unlike the rest of the fields, when the application changes into display mode and the fields get grey like in any SAP application, the columns in the table which were editable remain white, and those which were not editable and thus grey, get now white, too, instead of the other way round. So it will look to the normal user, as if now all columns would be editable!
Of course, he would realize that they are not when he tries to edit them, but this is irritating.
See following link with screenshots (only active for 3 weeks from now on):
[Link to my webmail space/SDN: .|https://businesswebmail.telekom.at/filestorage/MzYxMTk1OTMx/]
I have looked
through my books ("Einstieg in Web Dynpro for ABAP", "Praxisbuch Webdynpro for ABAP", ...)
through the wiki for Webdynpro for ABAP here in SDN as well as through this forum (by searching with "ALV edit")
through the notes in BC-WD-CMP-ALV
but could not find any solution. Most tables in those PDF articles found here in the WD4A wiki also show white cells although they are probabliy in read-only mode (e.g. the imitation of the SE16N browser article).
The attributes to the LO_CELL_EDITOR for both Inputfields and textview columns contain exactly the same values when toggling between display and edit mode (read-only in table settings), so also no chance to change here anything.
Also changing the cell design is not a solution as there is no design that looks like grey for not editable according to WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN ([SAP Help - WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/56/5e9041d3c72e7be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm].
I do not know if I have made an error, as this is my 3rd Web Dynpro (after the first 2 of the introduction book), or SAP is really inconsistent in User interface between "normal" fields and ALV table fields.
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance,
ErlendHi,
In my application aslo, i have 30 columns out of which 10 are input fields. But, i'm showing the table as ABAP_TRUE incase of Non-editable otherwise to abap_false. Now i'm getting everything as in WHITE cells.
Do you want to show it is Grey mode with Non-editable feature. Is that so.
How many columns are there which has Input fields.
Get the column references.
Now, based on the mode of display create the object as Input or Textview field.
For that column -
If mode eq 'D'.
Create an object for Textview(cl_salv_wd_uie_text_view)
else.
Create an Object for Inputfield(cl_salv_wd_uie_input_field)
endif.
The Append row is a standard button or custom one on ALV toolbar.
Do you want to hide the toolbar or just disable these buttons.
If you want to hide the toolbar then refer my wiki -
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/NullreferenceforUPDATETOOLBARerrorsofALVinthewebdynpro+ABAP

Team Calendar in Read-Only Mode in Leave Request Approver Screen
Hi,
After lots of interaction and inputs in my previous thread,
Customization Done for 2 level approval of leave in ESS but Facing Problems
Our Team had decided to make the Team Calendar in Leave Request Approval Screen in Read-Only Mode (more precisely modus=TeamView)
My question is, is it possible to achieve the same, because instead of adding custom validations using Custom RFC, If it is possible to make the Team Calendar as Read-Only than it will help us to achieve our goals. Please do let us know that is it possible? and, if Yes, How to achieve it?
On leave request approval screen, we want Approver to take any action via "Show Worklist" and No User Action allowed on Team Calendar (Disabled but not InVisible).
Thanks,
Regards,
Tushar Shinde.This is the note 1484853 but as i said you cant see it unless you raise a Message for SAP , We have to add yout company to the note.
these are the steps
Symptom
In LeaveRequestApprover application, a higher level manager can
approve/reject a leave though he/she is not the owner of the approval
workitem (TS12300097). It happens when a higher level manager clicks on
the leave in the TeamCalendar launched from the LeaveRequestApprover
application.
Other terms
LeaveRequestApprover, TS12300097, prepare_select, WorkList,
LPT_ARQ_REQUEST_UIAF07
Reason and Prerequisites
Reason:- This is caused because the approve/reject button were not
restricted based on the logged in user.
Prerequisites:- IT105 entries for the backend PERNRs should be correctly
maintained.

Using edit box in Read only mode
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 with OAF.
In one page I have created one region with a few edit boxes. In this region I want to display the information using the edit boxes in a "Read Only" mode so that it matches with the same background colour.
If the content of the edit box is small, i.e.: a few characters long, but if the content is large about 150 characters, then if I make the edit box read only, then it does not come to a new line. For this I have to make the edit box in "Disabled" mode. In "Disabled" mode only, the long message is shown in multilines. But my problem is that, when I make is "Disabled, it does not become uniform with other edit boxes with the same background colour. Can you please suggest, how can I address this problem.

Sharing a view in read only mode
Hi,
I am new in this domain. I have made an application in which I made two local development projects. Through that I am using views of one into another with the help of "Used WebDynpro Components" concept. After deploying, I have got these two views.
But the problem is that I want that view in read only mode which I have taken from other local development project and this view was not in read only mode in its local development projects.
Please provide me the solution in detail so that I can understand easily.Hi Manish,
Say View1 is the view in main Component,View2 is the view in used Component. Exactly follow these steps.
Create a context attribute <b>enable </b>of type String in used Component's controller,used Component's Interface controller, View1 and View2.
Using context mapping map these attributes View2 -> used Component's controller-> used Component's Interface controller -> View1 ( if you don't know how to map double click the the Main component: Data navigation modeler is opened; In the diagram, right side select small arrow first select View1 drag to used Component's Interface controller,in the wizard select right hand side <b>enable </b>attribute drag to left side)
you can map similarly View2 -> used Component's controller-> used Component's Interface controller.
In View2 create another variable <b>edit </b>of boolean type.
Open Layout tab of View2, bind this attribute to enable property of all the UI elements which you want to disable.
In implementation tab of View1 in method wdDoInit() write this code
wdContext.currentContextElement.setEnable("display");
In implementation tab of View2 in method wdDoInit() write this code
if(wdContext.currentContextElement.getEnable().equalIgnoreCase("display"))
wdContext.currentContextElement.setEdit(false);
else
wdContext.currentContextElement.setEdit(true);
Hope this helps for you.
Best regards,
Siva

Project files open in read-only mode
project files open in read-only mode in ms project 2013.But in the case of MS Project 2007 it opens in READ\WRITE mode .what should i do so that project will opens in READ\WRITE mode by default in MS Project 2013
In addition to John's excellent reply, I'd add that if you are talking about Project Server, this is by design that the projects in 2013 version open in read-only mode, in order to require an explicit operation to check-out the file. This prevents to have
many checked out files by mistake.
See this
article on my blog.
Hope this helps,

Hello VC-Experts
we are using a form view in read-only mode. The problem is that the text in the fields are grey. That is not very readable for the end users.
Is there a change to change the text-style in fields to "BOLD" or change the text color to black?
I was trying it with an expression box, but the font color is still grey just a little bit darker.
Thank you very much in advance.
Kind regards
AxelHi Basheer,
set the field to disabled , causes a grey text and and a grey background and is not changable in style tab of expression box.
But I found an other solution for the problem:
- Setting the form view to editable
- Creating a Plain Text field
- Set Data-Field in Control Properties->Display->Appearance->Label->Formula
- Set "Text style" to bold in the same tab.
Thanks, rewarding points

Hello - since configuring a Windows Web Server 2008 R2 x64 to be hardened for an internet-facing deployment I receive this:
"Device Manager is running in read-only mode because you are running it on a remote computer."
when entering Device Manager.
I have tried reversing the changes I have made, such as:
- Re-adding Client for Microsoft Networks
- Re-enabling NetBIOS over TCP-IP
- Re-adding File and Printer Sharing
- Disabling the Windows Firewall in all profiles (public, domain, private)
I get no joy. It looks like a Microsoft ballsup. I'll try and use Process Monitor to have a look. Google returns only 1 page for this error.
LukeGot it.
After my changes to DHCP and static IPs the machine picked up the IP address of another server on my little home LAN. The hostname in IPCONFIG was different to the actual server computer name and so this led Device Manager to think the connection and the
local machine were different.
What an odd and infuriating problem. My thoughts on this are that Microsoft should be more verbose with error messages and their causes. For example, displaying the values of the assertion would help diagnose a problem; "The host-name www02.farm.brand.com
that you are connecting from does not match the local host-name rest01.dev.farm.brand.com. Connections from remote computers can only use Device Manager in read-only mode; some options will be disabled."
When troubleshooting, the main thing on an engineer's mind is "what has led Windows to its [unexpected] conclusion?"

How to change report region fields in read only mode?
How to change report region fields in read only mode?
skud.add the following javascript fuction to page header(or Javascript function and variables section)
function disableItems(pRegionStaticId,pDisableFlag) {
$('#'+pRegionStaticId).find('[name^=f]').each( function(){ /* matches fxx */
if( $(this).attr('name').match(/f[0-9][0-9]/) ){
return $(this);
}).attr('disabled',pDisableFlag);
pRegionStaticId is the region's static Id+
Note that this code specifically disables only application arrays. Disabled items are not available after submission (and hence are different from readonly) . But any page javascript can modify disabled or readonly items(client side), so you must check at the server side to validate the data.
You can disable items using
disableItems('MY_REGION_ID' ,true);and enable them by passing false
disableItems('MY_REGION_ID' ,false); -
Generating EXPLAIN PLAN on a database which is opened in READ-ONLY mode
Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.3 version.
If my database is opened in READ-ONLY mode, means no insert/update/delete operations are permitted here.
While generating EXPLAIN PLAN for any SQL, it does entries in PLAN_TABLE. But my database is opened in READ-ONLY mode, means no inserts can happen.
So how can I generate EXPLAIN PLAN for my SQL in this condition?
Thanks in advance.

You can always do: "explain plan into some_table@remote_database" to avoid inserting into the local database. Unfortunately 10g added a sequence fetch to the "explain plan" code, and this is where the call would fail if you tried this remote approach on your version.
Here's an idea I haven't tested. If you set up a database link from your production database to the read-only database, you could then do an "explain plan" in the production database for the SQL statement by changing every object reference in the SQL statement to "object@readonlydatabase". In most cases this will allow the optimizer to recognise the statement as "fully remote" and get the optimizer on the readonly database to create the execution plan - which would then be written to the production database.

How to modify edit/read mode pop up for documents in "SP2013" to open in only read only mode
Hi,
When opening a document the users of my site and including me are getting a pop up asking to open it in read only or edit mode. We want to disable the edit option for end users. Those are confidential doc's.
We want them to open only in read only mode. How can it be achieved.
Can we FORCE a read-only open of the document without giving anyone the option to open in edit mode? I don't have access to Central Admin. Hence kindly let me know if there is some javascript
code that i can use to do this from browser.
thank you !Hi Prajk,
If users have edit permission on the documents in this library, even if we disable this dialog (by disabling the add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuements class" from IE browser), the users sitll could download the documents to local machine, and
edit the documents in client Office application, then sync to library.
If you want the users to read these confidential documents only, you can only grant the users read-only permission on the document items or on library level, then they could unable to edit these confidential docs, note to give proper users
proper permissions.
If you also want that the confidential docs could be opend and read-only in client Office application, you can configure the IRM (implemented by RMS) for SharePoint server, then set the document items in the library read-only for
some users.
