Attach paths to layers?

I don't know what to really call it, but here it goes.
When I create a shape with one of the shape tools, it masks it or whatever you call it when a path. And where ever I move the shape, the path goes. But when I just make a path and fill that path, the path isn't attached. So how do I "attach" the path to the layer, so when I want to resize the shape, it wont lose quality.

Mail attachment path problem

hi experts
i am trying to send mails with attachments thru jsp.
i have this normal jsp file i.e the html form is not set to enctype="multipart/form-data" ok
now i have some <input type="File" name="attachment1"> in this file
when i browse and attach the file and submit
i call my sendmail.jsp.
here i had done
String attachment1 = request.getParameter("attachment1");
the only problem i'm facing is i get only the filename in the attachment1 variable
instead of full path
how can i do this.
Note: when i hard code the path in sendmail it works fine.

We are implementing digital signature on form 16.
We configured the ADS for the same.
In transaction pc00_40_f16, we provide the path for saving the form and also provide the name of ADS connection. When we click on the print form button, the forms are generated with 0 bytes.
Can you please guide us if have resolved this kind of issue or other settings are required to get the form 16 with digital signature.

Transforming paths and layers together? Hopefully someday...

This is on my wish list for the next Photoshop version: One day, I would like to have the ability to transform a group of layers and a path together - at once. There is no other frustration than to create a very complex clipping path only to zoom out and realize that the bottom of the object in question needs to be skewed slightly. You know once you do that, that you will have to recreate the complete path again as you will never be able to match the skew exactly on the layers and then again on the path. Sigh....

Click on the path, then Layer>Vector Mask>Current Path. You'll see a Vector Mask appear on your layer. Now, when resize or rotate the layer the path will do the same.

Releasing Paths to layers.

I currently have aproximately 100 paths in a single layer. I would like to release them to sepparate layers in a sequential order for an after effects project. I can't seem to get it to work, all that happens is it makes one more layer at the bottom of my stack with a seemlingly random object inside.
Any suggestions?

Sorry, I realize I was quite vague. I guess to simplify the question, how does one release multiple paths to their own individual layer?

Moving paths between layers in CS6

I use paths a lot. Shape layers, vector masks, etc.
In previous versions of Photoshop, I could simply drag vector masks from one layer to another, just like other layer masks. Now (with CS6) I have to do a convoluted copy an paste, switching back and forth between the layers panel and the paths panel.
Is there an easier way to do this?

To move vector mask from Shape to Shape, hold down Cmd (Ctrl on Windows) and drag Shape thumbnail onto other Shape thumbnail.
To copy vector mask from Shape to Shape, hold down Opt+Cmd (Alt+Ctrl on Windows) and drag Shape thumbnail onto other Shape thumbnail.

Moving paths in layers

Hello,
Could someone perhaps help?
I have selected paths on the artboard and would like to be able to move them into one layer.
As there are a large number is there anyway of moving them to a new layer without selecting them (blue highlighting) and moving them?
They are selected on the artboard so the colour square appears next to them in the layers panel but I can't move them to a new layer without selecting them (even using ctrl or shift is still quite time consuming),

Have your new Layer ready.
Select the paths.
In the Layers panel, drag the (blue) square to the new layer.
That’s about as quick as it gets.
You can also drag sub-layers into other layers (without selecting them) using the Layers panel, but if you have a lot of objects it can be confusing seeing what is what.
The other way is better.

Help! Changing attachment path in SQL database

Changing paths in the dbo.dlnk table isn't too difficult, but I came accross something that has me stumped.
Rather than a straight forward path such as \\servername\documents\ there are many that have a URL in the path such as http://servername/exponline/attachmentframe.jsp?filename=83089.pdf&fullpath=%5C%5Cservername%5Cimagetool%5Carchive%5Chce%5C78%5C83089.pdf&dk=h8Tjf4FcM7Km%2BpwH637w6w%3D%3D
Does anyone have a sql script that will filter out the url crud and leave a simple path.

Text Effects in Bridge wont attach to text layers in AE *Please help

I have read the AE help and it says to just double click the preset I want and it will attach to the text in AE, but it doesnt work. What do I do?

Ok, I am trying to use the built in animations that are located in the text folder inside bridge. While in AE I make a new text layer and type in the text, then I goto the EFFECTS & PRESETS fly out menu and Choose Browse presets, This will take you to the contents folder in Bridge, For instance I click on the 3d text folder to open it and view all of the preset text animations. If you click a sample Icon one time it will show you what to expect in Bridge, IF you double click it, it is supposed to attach that preset to your text layer and transfer that animation to the text layer in AE. Well I cant get it to work, It wont attach the preset to my text in the text layer of AE. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Please help me figure this out. I have search the AE help files as well as the bridge help, with no answers.

Jonas, thank you for a work around, using the bridge method would be nicer, but the apply animation preset works, I just have to open bridge so I can preview the text effect I want to apply. Main thing is I got it to work. Now to figure out why bridge and AE aren't talking.

Basics of Clipping paths and layers

Hi, I'm not that experienced in working in Illustrator. I have CS4 and I'm trying to create a simple clipping path around some stars that I created so I can place them on top of other pictures and colors in an InDesign document. I'm totally lost and can't get it right--I know it is the "basics."

Internal server error when attach a file

each time we attach a file to CM we get the following error
Internal Server Error
an error occurred while processing your request. please contact your contract manager administrator for additional assistance.

It will be important to know which CM version you are using, and also which repository (UCM/SharePoint/FileServer) method. As Laban_user points out, if you are on File Server, and not have an active Repository, checking the document Versioning will give you a repository error.
If this is not the case, let us know which PCM version, etc. It is also possible that you have a configuration error in your command line server admin setup that has the attachment path incorrectly defined.

Include a link to attached files: is it possible?

I have a problem I hope you can help me with.
When using Acrobat,Pro you can add attachments to a PDF file and include a link in the PDF file to this attachment. As a result, if you click on the link, the attachment will open in a new window.
Now, I have created a form in LiveCycle Designer, and on the bottom of the form I would like to include a link to an attached file. However, it seems that I cannot edit the newly created form in Acrobat Pro. Hence, I am not able to include a link to the attached file using the method described above.
I cannot find an option to attach files in LiveCycle Designer, nor a way to link to an attachment. Am I overlooking something, or is it just not possible to include a link to an attachment in a form created in LiveCycle Designer?

I guess it is too late now, but you can do this in a LiveCycle Designer form. Just the same as an Acrobat form, except you refer to the Doc object as event.target. So to attach a file use this JavaScript;

And, this will open it.

Set default directory/path for SaveAs Dialog using WPG_DOCLOAD

Hi, im trying to set the default directory/path for the SaveAs Dialog called by wpg_docload.download_file.
I'm not able to find where I can specify the default path.
Is it something like "htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; path=:PX_OUTPUT_DIR" ?

I don't believe you're allowed to set the directory path in the Content-Disposition (or any other) header. More accurately, you can set path in the filename, but browsers don't pay any attention to that, they only look at only the terminal filename.
<p>According to RFC 2183, browsers are supposed to ignore any path information sent with the filename. Even though it's dated 1997, I believe this RFC is still in effect.
<p>This was done as a security precaution against malicious web apps that might try to download into a system directory or other dangerous place. Also, browsers (usually) allow users to specify their own default download directories. Further, even if you could specify the path, you'd have to do it for any and all filesystems (Linux, Mac HFS, Mac OSX, Windows, etc etc).

How to convert inode number to path (for Eudora to Mail conversion)

I've seen a header line in my Eudora client that has what I believe to be an inode number in it that represents a path:
X-Attachments: :Server:622049:style.css:
Server is the volume name and the 622049 appears to be the inode file system path to the folder containing the file. I want to find a programmatic way to do the conversion. For example, if in the Terminal, I issue this:
sudo find / -inum 622049 -print
Leopard does find the path:
/Users/trevor/Documents/Style Sheets
but also a whole lot of other guff such as:
find: /dev/fd/4: Not a directory
find: /net/localhost: Operation timed out
The reason is that I want to do a really clean move from Eudora to Mail, but I can't any application that works well AND converts outgoing attachment paths for Mail to use. The best application application I could find does not (yet) know how to translate the inode number to a path, so that the resulting messages in Mail have the correct OUTgoing message attachments (it converts incoming attachments just fine). Hence, it's in my interest (and possibly that of all others who want a complete conversion to Mail from Eudora) to do what I can to get the Eudora to Mail process convert BOTH incoming and outgoing attachments (which, to the best of my knowledge and search, no conversion tool can do at the moment).
Surely there is a direct, programmatic method (presumably the method used by Eudora) to get the path information. I want to send that method to the developer of the best tool I found.
Anyone know where I can find a reference to how to prgrammatically translate the inode number to the full path, so that the e-mail converter can grab the file quickly?

In Photoshop you can apply a layer mask to a folder but that

I tried grouping the two path layers and applying the mask.
That works but if I want to edit the paths later I have to ungroup
everything and then I lose my mask. How to put it all back together
again without actually redoing the mask eludes me.

Add attachment to email - DIAPI

Hi all,
I'm programming in C++ and I can't send email with attachment using DIAPI.
I have registered the file to be attached in SAP using yhe object Attachments2 and when I create the message I put the id that identify the file I want to attach.
On SAP if I watch the sent message, I found the message sent as email with the attachment (and I'm able also to see the attachment), but on outlook I can't see any attachment.
In the OALR table the attachment entry is set correctly but no attachment path is shown.
Any ideas?

There is a SAP note about using this attachments2 object - note 1308979:
In order to add attachments using the Attachments2 object, two steps are
required:
1. Add the attachment to Business One
2. Link this attachment to the required document.
The following example adds the file "10011.doc" stored on the system
under "C:\Test" to the existing Activity 13 in SAP Business One.
Dim oAtt As SAPbobsCOM.Attachments2
    oAtt = oCompany.GetBusinessObject(oAttachments2)
    oAtt.Lines.SourcePath = "C:\Test"
    oAtt.Lines.FileName = "10011"
    oAtt.Lines.FileExtension = "doc"

You have now added the document to Business One. Next you have to link
this attachment to the Activity by setting the AttachmentEntry value of
the Activity to the value of the AbsoluteEntry of the newly added
attachment:

The above example is for an activity, but the process is the same for all objects which can take attachments.
If you are following this process but the attachments are still not included in Outlook, I would advise contacting support to look into this issue.
