Attached vs. Embedded jpgs in Email Messages

How do you send jpgs in email messages so they are attachments and NOT embedded images?
I'm using Mail 3.5, and drag and drop photos into messages. They used to be attached, but for some reason they started showing up as embedded files and my PC friends can't save them. I don't think I changed any settings - I have Mail set to send "Wiindows-friendly" attachments.

You are right. It was a good answer to that question. Just not my question.
I had been reviewing about a dozen questions that were similar to mine,( which is to have my PC friends be able to see my screen shots in my emails). If I copy and paste this does not happen [tiff!].
So as I read this thread, I didn't read carefully enough. I was trying not to start a new thread with this question, but since this is not a good question for the response I am looking for, I guess I need to start a new thread.
The user has a similar need, that would also be solved by the answer I seek, but not entirely the same. Sorry.

  • How to attach image files to an email message?

I use Mac Mail. When I attach an image file to an email message, the recipient gets it embedded in the message and not as a separate attachment. I'm assuming that the recipient uses a Windows computer, and I always send Windows-friendly attachments. What do I have to do to ensure that attachments are not embedded in an email message?
    Thanks.

  • Attaching music files to an email message

Can anyone tell me how to attach a music file from my iTunes library to an email message? Also, I would like to convert the file so that it can be played on a PC? Thanks for any assistance.

    1. You can control+click on the song you wish to attach. After you do this, a menu window will open select "show in finder."
    2. You can then drag and drop this to your mail application. A new message will automatically be started with the music file attached. If you are using an online email program, showing in finder lets you see exactly where the file is. You can then navigate to this in the email program.
Unless the song is protected, you can convert the song to MP3 format. It should then be playable on a Windows machine

  • IPhone: Sending a picture as an attachment, not embedded within the email?

    Hello Community,
Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to e-mail a picture from your iPhone, as an attachment? NOT embedded within the e-mail....?
My wife's e-mail client (school teacher) will not allow her to receive/view emails that have pictures embedded within the body text. She can only receive pictures if they are attached separately on the e-mail.
The only work-around I have found, is by installing the Google Mail app onto my iPhone. Google Mail will allow you to send pictures as attachments. But I do not prefer this. I would like to use the iPhone's native e-mail application.
    Thanks,
    BP

To follow up on this question, is there any way to receive *.tiff or *.jpg on an iPhone/iOS device in general as an attachment rather than imbedded in the email, and "open with" some other application, or save to an application store, like GoodReader does with say, *.pdf's?

  • Folder holding attachment displayed in receiver's email message

Sorry about the possibly obtuse Subject. I received a reply from a client to an email with an attachment sent to him earlier by me. I noticed on the bottom of my original message that was quoted in his reply that the name of the folder holding his attached document was printed out. I recently switched to Leopard and Mail from Tiger and Entourage. I don't recall seeing the name of the folder being revealed when I used Entourage. Is there a way to turn that off in Mail?

Mail does not include any reference to a folder or path that I can see. I've sent myself a mail message with various attachments from different folders on my MacBook and downloaded that on my PC clone (Outlook). No file path is included. There is no option to either switch that on or off in Mail. I also forwarded the same mail message from Outlook back to myself and then viewed that message in Mail. There is still no path reference so perhaps what you are seeing is your clients mail system has included a path reference when he forwarded the email back to you. Something which you have no control over.

  • Attaching a document to an email message

I recently transferred by mistake (I intended ONLY to copy them) three documents to my cloud storage.
I'd like to know teo things:
    1) How can I restore the documents to my MacBookPro;
    2) If it is possible to attach these documents from the cloud to a mail message.
    Thanks

You do not have to use Pages 5.
All the new iWork applications use an obscure and unparseable zipped bundle for a file format, that third party server software such as GMail, DropBox, Amazon etc do not understand.
You can zip the .pages document before attaching it to eMails but this is an inconvenience and removes all the supposed reasons for using it in the first place.
Pages '08/'09 is still in your Applications/iWork folder.

  • Is there away to send an email message on the ipad with a photo attachment "not" inline in the message?

I need to send an email message on the ipad with a photo as an attachment "not" inline in the message?  I do not want the photo embedded in the email message.  I'm using exchange on the ipad.

Apple Mail will display attachments that are one page or less. While the photo will be displayed it is sent as an attachment. The recipient can click and drag the photo to their desktop just like any other attachment.

  • How to attach a text file as an attachment to email message?

    Hello Everybody,
I have a .csv file, in which details about emp-id, emp-name, e-expenses for Reimbursement and email address are stored.
My application reads this .csv file, and sends a mail to each employee with his id, salary details in text format. (by changing content type to "text/plain") The code is working fine. But,
    My problem is:
The message is sent as message body to the end user.
The end user / the person who receives this mail will not be a technical person. So,
    1) If he trys to take a print out of this e-mail, He get only half of it.(as no. of colums will be more than paper size).
    2) I am finding alignment problem. IF employee name is too big, other columns will shift to right and data will not be exactly under column header. (it is going in zig zag way)
So, I thought sending text file with all the details as an attachment might do well.
But, I don't know how to attach a text file to email-message body.

  • Automatically Attaching (Or Inserting) Selected Photos Into Email Message

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 3.0 to Photoshop CS2 and the one feature that I can't seem to find in Photoshop CS2 is an automated method for resizing photos and automatically attaching or inserting the photos into an email message. Elements 3.0 has a feature that allows you to select the photos you would like to send in Photoshop Organizer and then select a menu option that will resize the images for emailing and automatically attached the photos to new email message or insert the photos into the body of the message with a user selectable frame around each message.
Although I still have Photoshop Elements 3.0 installed, I'd prefer to work in Photoshop CS2 as much as possible but I can't seem to find any similar feature either in Adobe Bridge or in Photoshop. Does anyone know if there's any easy way to automatically email photos from Adobe Bridge/Photoshop CS2 similar to the feature included with Photoshop Elements 3.0?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, there a number of very useful features in Elements that Adobe seems to leave out of CS2 for some unexplained reason. Elements is actually better at a bunch of useful things than CS2 is. That I don't understand.
Anyway, if you want to select several images in Bridge and make image sizes appropriate for email, you can do that. It's not as simple as in Elements, but not that hard either.
Just select the images you want to attach. Select Tools/Photoshop/Image Proccesor from the menus. This will open up Photoshop and bring up a dialog. You can then select a folder location, JPEG as the file type, [X] Resize to Fit and enter a pixel height and width appropriate for email depending upon how big you want the images to be and [X] Convert profile to sRGB and go. It will then makes JPEGs for you of the requested size. You, then finish the process by manually attaching them to an email in your email client.

  • How do i attach a file to an email as an attachment and not embeded in the message?

how do i attach a file to an email as an attachment and not embeded in the message?

This question has been asked and answered several times already.
Any file attached to an e-mail message is an attachment. There is no other possibility -- the mail protocol does not allow it.
However, different e-mail clients may have different ways of displaying or viewing attachments, depending on their settings and the type of file attached.
If you're having problems with Windows users complaining about your messages, follow these instructions

  • Add a jpg as an attachment, not embedded

It always embeds in the email. How can I send a .jpg as an attachment?

I have tried every tip and trick I can find (dragging and dropping, going into Applications>Utilities>Terminal and typing "defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes", checking [√] Send windows-friendly attachments when clicking the paper clip icon to add an attachment) and this simple fix worked!
I removed my signature completely from the email message by going to Mail > Preferences > Signature and deleting everything I had in there. I don't think it is necessary to remove it via Preferences and a simple "delete" will do but I don't really need my signature on my personal email account anyways and don't mind losing it.
I decided to go back and remove the DisableInline command to test if that would have an impact. I restarted mail and sent a test email to my work computer which is a PC utilizing Outlook. The attachment became embedded once again. I added the DisableInline code back in, sent a test email, and voila! Attachment returned!
So, it seems the cause of this issue is multifaceted like most problems in life. If you have tried all of the options listed and are stll having issues it may just be the automated signature is the culprit. Good luck! I will be reposting this on some other forums I used to get to this point.

  • Received emails with embedded .jpg

I updated to Leopard and when I receive mail with embedded .jpg attachments the location of the attachment is generally shown as a small square with a question mark in it in the body of the email. The attachments are there but they are clustered at the bottom of the email instead of in the locations they should be.
Is there a setting somewhere that I am overlooking?

Could Apple have recently increased its security to block unwanted SPAM, and now my computer thinks this email is SPAM?

  • Outlook2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Reader 11

Problem statement: Outlook 2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Adobe Reader 11.0.3
    Environment: Windows 8 x64; Office 2013; Adobe Reader 11.0.3
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Open Outlook 2013
    2. Open email message with PDF attachment
    3. Open PDF attachment (with Adobe Reader as default PDF viewer)
    4. Close Adobe Reader
Results: Original email message with PDF attacment now sits behind the main Outlook window
Expected results: Original email message should be on top of main Outlook window as it was when opening the PDF attachment
Note: Adobe Acrobat Profession performs as expected - the original email is on top of the main Outlook window - This only seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader.
Has anyone else experience this problem?  If so, have you found a work-around?
    Thanks,
    Mike

From: new window opens behind existing window - how to modify?
I had this problem happening in Outlook.
If I tried to open an email, it would open behind the main Outlook window.
The same happened if I opened a link in the email - it would open behind the mail.
The fix that was suggested to me was so simple that I still don't believe it.
Right click on the task bar and unlock the taskbar, then lock it again.
Close down Outlook and re-start it.
Problem solved! Just dont know how  or why.
