Attaching docs to emails as tiles

HOW DO I ATTACH FILES AS TILES INSTEAD OF WHOLE DOC DISPLAYED? I've attached docs to emails from about 4 alternate ways. It seems hit or miss, sometimes they render as tiles; but usually it displays the whole doc- frustrating.

To Right Click - depress the control key and click with the mouse on a single button mouse

  • When attaching docs to email they appear open in the email and I just want an icon so I can send a pdf file.

I want to be able to send, for example a .pdf file as an email attachment, but when I use the paper clip to browse and attach a docuemnt it opens the document and pastes the words in rather than leaving an icon.

Mail menu/Edit/Attachments - uncheck 'always insert attachments at end of message'.

    help to all:
I get the email attachment(.doc or .xls) and it's
content, using javaMail Api .but output it on the
computer screen,I see only some sign unreadable.
Pls how to get the content.
    thanks for you.

Save the output to a file and open it in Word/Excel thats what documents attached to mail are made for...
If you really need the contents send them in the body or in a plain text attachment.

  • Email attachment filenames appear as "mail attachment".doc or "mail attachment."pdf

    Hi,
I have Mac OS 10.7.5, I've synchronised my hotmail/outlook address to Mail application.
I have no issues with sending or receiving emails with attachments.
The problem I'm having is that the filename of all attachments appear as "mail attachment.doc" for Word files or as "mail.attachment.pdf" for PDF files.
    1)  If I log on to my hotmail account through the browser the attachments appear with the correct file name.
    2) The attachment file names happen to also appear correctly on my iPhone.
    3) I have other mailboxes set up in Mail application and attachment file names appear correct.
It seems to be an issue with Mail application and the hotmail/outlook account.
I would appreciate if anyone can give me some feedback on this issue.
    Kind regards,
    Doble Korona

Some things to try - after each step, see if it works...
Ensure that you have the latest version of the OS and Quicktime and iPhoto.
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/BatChmod.png
(Credit to Old Toad for this one).
    4. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • Trying to attach saved doc to email but it shows as greyed out and won't open. If I convert same doc to pdf format it attaches OK. What am I doing wrong?

I'm new Mac user and can't work out why a saved pages doc won't attach to an email. I can see it in Finder and open it in Pages but when I try to attach it shows up in grey and won't open. If I then convert the same doc to pdf it's OK. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your answer.  You guess right.  I have my personal mail in Apple Mail program but my business account is via Google Apps for work so operates like a gmail account and that's the one I need for attachments.  The Pages version I have is 5.2(1860).  It would be good to fix if I can without having to make the extra step of pdf conversion.  I purchased the computer a week ago and it's OSX 10.9.5 which I guess is the latest version.  Should I upgrade to Yosemite? Perhaps that has a later version of Pages?  Thanks again. Barbara

  • How to attach scanned doc to email? (iPad 1)

I would like to email docs scanned in from HP AIO.  How do I do that? Note: iPad 1, with no camera or camera roll)

Start in the Photos app and use the icon top right of the box with the arrow coming out of it to select the photo and attach it to an email - if you are in thumbnail view in the Photos app you can use the same icon to select up to 5 photos to attach to an email via the Share button at the top left of the screen

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Since you have balance, and the issue is in your Work domain, you need to work with your server admins, as it's possible they are forbidding (via IT Policy) the ability to do as you desire.

  • Retrieve attachements nested in .msg file attached to an email

    Hi All,
question regarding retrieving nested attachments with-in email.
Im able to retrieve an email attached to an email and also other attachemnts attached to an email.
The problem is im not able to retrieve a mail which has an email as an attachment which in turn has a doc attachment.
    The structure is like this--Mail A -->has an attachemnt MailB.msg--->This MailB.msg has a Test.doc attachemnt in it.
With my code im able to retrieve this MailB.msg's body but not the attachemnt Test.doc it has in it.
I found that MailB.msg part is not an instanceof MultiPart .
    This is kind of Urgent.
Is there any one help me resolve this??

You're right, the nested message definitely has attachments, and it's definitely a multipart message.
If you're not seeing it, there's something wrong with your program, or there's something wrong with
    your mail server.
I saved the message to a file and ran "java msgshow -m -s < msg.txt", which showed this structure
    for the nested message:

          This is a Nested Message

---------------------------How are you accessing the message? Are you reading it from an IMAP mail server? If so,
turn on session debugging and send me the protocol trace when you access the message.
Some servers have bugs when accessing nested messages. See the JavaMail FAQ for
details of how to work around such server bugs.
If the problem doesn't look like a server bug, I'll need to see the code you're using to access
the nested message and its attachments.

  • Mailing attached doc. of a PO to vendor.

    Hi,
Our requirement is that the attached doc. in a PO to be mailed to the vendor along with PO. Now, PO is only getting mailed.
I know there is a SAP note which mentions this as "not possible".
But, still I would like to know whether any wayis there to achieve this.
I came to know from one of my friend that it is possible thro' a development. But, as he has left the organisation where this was implemented, he is not able to get the coding/related table details.
Would be very thankful if any one helps.
    Regards,
    Siva

  • Opening excel docs from email quickly

Can Numbers automatically open excel docs from email? I always have to save the file and then open the Numbers program, then open file.

If Numbers is defined as the app opening XL files, a double click in the xls file in Mail opens it in Numbers.
You may also try to drag the attachment on the Numbers's icon.
