Attaching documents in Lion's new Mail application is wonky.

When browsing for attachments in mail I cannot open a folder.
When I double click it attaches the entire folder. This only happens in mail. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Matt

  • New mail applications/reading mails in non-latin alphabet foreign languages

I work with China and Korea a lot. And I receive emails in Korean and Chinese language.
How do I allow my mail to read emails in Korean and Chinese. I have a friend who can read his iPhone emails in Japanese but I cannot read my iPhone emails in Korean and so I wonder if he has some kind of setup thats different than me.
Also, I am curious to know some opinions about any other mail applications for Mac that anyone can suggest and reasons why they prefer it over the standard mail application, if they do at all.
    Thanks
    Dan

If your problem relates to the operation of your iPhone, please use this forum instead:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1139
The iPhone lacks various language capabilities which are in the full OS X. I think emails may have to be in UTF-8 encoding to be received correctly.
If you have problems reading non-latin emails in the full OS X, let us know. Usually they can be solved by switching the encoding in Message > Text Encoding.

    Hi,
We are planning to implement the SAP HR Renewal 2.0 FP1 based HR implementation with ESS/MSS based on the UI5 as well.

Please let me if the attachment facility is available for the Create Leave request application in UI5 based ESS.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Mac Mail application won't open since installing Leopard

    Hi Folks,
This is my first post - I have usually been able to locate the help I need just by searching through the discussions, but haven't found anything on this issue (hope I didn't miss it). Since installing Leopard on my MacBook (2 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 80 GB HD) I cannot open the email app. (Mac Mail). The error message I get is: "+you cannot use the application "mail" with this version of Mac OS X+". Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

If you had the Mail Application stored in any other directory (folder) than the root Applications Folder, you will get this error message because Leopard installs a new Mail Application in the Applications folder.
Delete your old Mail Application from its current locations, and from the dock, and run the newly installed Mail Application in the Applications Folder and you should be fine.
This is also true for several other Applications that are installed new in Leopard. I don't know them all, but you will when you run them and get the same error message.
Good luck. Hope this fixes your problem.

  • Checking multiple e-mail accounts with new Mail app?

Is it possible to check multiple e-mail accounts using the new Mail application?
I am wondering if I could use it for both a business e-mail account and a personal e-mail account or if I would have to pick only one to use.

    Haha!
Well, I plan on waiting until the SDK is released before buying any software.
Since it appears that the system updates included in the App Pack will be required to use any software released thereafter I am fairly confident that at least that part of the App Pack will eventually be free.

  • How can I attach an image without the image is in the email body? (using the new mail the Lion)

How can I attach an image without the image is in the email body? (using the new mail the Lion)
I want in attachment, not in the body mail.

I think your only solution is to zip the image files first and then attach them.
Read this from a site I found:
Sending Graphical Attachments -- When you attach a graphical image to your message, the recipient of your message sees the image inline (that is, in the body of the message) if her email client supports inline display. ("Take Control of Email with Apple Mail" contains a table listing the capabilities of popular Mac and PC email clients.) If a client does not support inline display (or the recipient has turned off the inline display option), the file appears as an attachment that must be opened in a separate program.
On the one hand, an inline image is easier for the recipient to see - all she has to do is look at it. On the other hand, inline images can be frustrating to scroll through. If you do not wish to send a graphical image inline, you must compress the file before attaching it - Mail, sadly, lacks a built-in compression option, though fortunately for Panther users, the Finder offers Zip compression without requiring a separate application.
Note that when you compose a new message, Mail always shows attachments in the body of your message. You can manually drag them somewhere else, but many email clients display all attachments in a separate list, regardless of where you place them in the message body.
If you paste an image into a message or drag & drop an image from another window (say, a Web browser), Mail converts the raw image data to an attachment in TIFF format. On the other hand, if you drag & drop the icon of an image file (or use the Attach button to locate the file using the file browser), Mail leaves the attached image in its original format. This difference is significant, because although most email clients can display JPEG images just fine, support for TIFF - especially in non-Mac email clients - is less common. If possible, I suggest attaching image files as opposed to pasting or dragging in raw image data.

  • Attached documents cause Mail to quit

A week ago Mail stated to quit unexpectedly every time I tried to open an email with attached documents, or to send one with attachments. I tried setting up another user and the same email account works fine for the new user. I am not certain if this is significant, but I notice that when in the new user when I go to Mail > Preferences I see the account listed and highlighted, but in my usual user doing the same thing I see no account listed- although when i hit the Edit button in that window it brings up my account details. Any ideas?

When an application crashes (i.e. quits unexpectedly), the system writes information about the state of the application at the moment of the crash to a log file. That information is called a crash report and makes troubleshooting easier. In order to find and post the relevant part of the crash report here, proceed as follows:
    1. Open ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Mail.crash.log. The whole crash log appears in a Console window (you can also open that file with any text editor). It may contain many crash reports. We only want the latest, which is located at the bottom of the file.
    2. Look for a line that begins with “Date/Time:” as close to the bottom as possible, and another that says “Thread N Crashed:”, where N is a number. Select everything from the “Date/Time:” line to the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:”. Copy that text and paste it in your post. Do not post the whole crash log, and do not include anything beyond the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:” either, just the relevant part.
Take a look at the following thread for examples of what a crash report looks like:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=466701
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • How to attach documents in fresh mails

    Hi,
When i am composing a new mail, I dont see an option to attach a word or a pdf or image.
Even if I am having a mail in my inbox with an attachment, I am unable to find an option to copy that attachment & paste it in another mail.
I am using the default mailing application.
    Please help
    Sathyan

You can not attach a document from inside an e-mail you are composing. You will need to send the document from within whatever app owns it.

  • Open default mail application and attach the shortcut to it

    Hi All ,
I have one requirement in which we need to open default mail application from SAP then create a new memo in it and attach the shortcut of one transaction in that new memo.
Can anybody please help me in the same ?

Gee, I don't know: "paste attachments mail Lion"? ;-)
One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

  • Attached document for data column in BPS Web application

    Hi,
I have created layout for a BPS application, the layout has been configured to have the ability to allow the used to create the attached documentd for the data column. when the user open the layout through the planning profile, the icon for those documents is displayed and can be open by click those icons. After we generated the Web applicatios, those icons are gone and the user can not open them any more.
I notice that there is document subcomponent under BPS-WB, I added that subcomponent to my web layout, it still not work.Anybody know how to display the attached documents on the Web, Is this doable?

    Hi Marc,
I did exactly what you mention in your responce e-mail, but it still not work coreectly.
following is my propperty configuration for layout and documents:
    Planning layout (layout_lay01)
    Only ready for output: True
    Row/Cell Selection: Cell
    Event on selection: true
    Document on planning layout (Document1)
    Layout: = layout_lay01
    Only ready for output: false
When I launch the application through the Tcode BPS_WIF0
There is no document icon display for each data columns which can been in UPSPL. Instead there is a generic document input/display space under the lauout, however there is no any document display within the box, and I can not input anything within the document box. I changes some of the property for the layout and document, but it not work.
    Did I forget some thing?
