Attaching images to a path

I know this sounds rather silly, but I am trying to attach a group of images to a path and cannot figure out how to do it.
I have a bunch of rectangluar images set up in a straight line, some are at diagonal angles and what not.
I have tried using the join command, but it always gives me an error when I try it.
I am trying to get them into a circular path, any help would be awesome.

It does not sound silly.
It is common for vector drawing programs to provide commands to distribute objects in a Group along a given path. It is also common for vector drawing programs to provide for inclusion of graphic objects within a text flow.
Illustrator provides neither.
Cumbersome Workaround:
1. Drag each of your images to the Symbols Palette to create Symbols.
2. Drag two instances of the first Symbol onto the page.
3. Create a Blend between the two Instances.
4. Draw a path.
5. Select the Blend and the Path. Object>Blend>ReplaceSpine. The Blend now distributes its steps along the path. Depending upon the shape of the path, you will now be frustrated by yet another omission in Illustrator: its inability to uniformly space Blend steps along a path. (More about this below.)
6. Object>Blend>Blend Options. Select Specified Steps and enter the number of Symbols minus 2.
7. Object>Blend>Expand. You now have an ordinary Group of objects, but each object is still a Symbol Instance.
8. Select the second Instance. Symbols Palette: Select the second Symbol in your Palette, and then choose the Replace Symbol command from the palette's flyout menu.
9. Similarly replace the other Instances with different Symbols.
Regarding step 5:
One would expect Scatter Brushes to solve this problem, because Scatter Brushes are suppose to be useful for uniformly (and otherwise) distributing objects along a path. But no; Illogically, you cannot use Raster Images in a Scatter Brush. So you think, "AH! But you can use Symbols in a Scatter Brush, just as you can in a Blend!" But, no; illogically, while you can use a Symbol Instance to define a Scatter Brush, the feature will still refuse to use Symbol Instances that contain raster content. "Okay," you think, "Let's use a vector-only Symbol, expand the Brush Appearance, and then use Replace Symbol. Foiled again: Yes, the stupid interface allows you to drag a Symbol Instance into the Brushes palette and define a Scatter Brush. But if you then use the Scatter Brush on a path and Expand Appearance, you'll find that the Symbol Instances have already been released; they are just ordinary Groups.
Now, before anyone trots out some kneejerk defensive reaction to this complete garbage, perhaps based on the notion that some Scatter Brush options would not make sense for raster content, consider:
You can use Symbols containing raster images in a Blend. If you use two different raster Symbols, it will accept the command, and simply refuse to draw the intermediate steps. But as long as you use two or more Instances of the same Symbol, it will draw the blend. It will even scale and rotate the intemediate instances. When you Release the Blend, the key objects and intermediate steps will still be Symbol Instances, so Replace Symbol can then be used to advantage.
So by what logic does Scatter Brush not similarly leave Symbol Instances as Symbol Instances, instead of expanding them? The entire interface gives you no indication whatsoever that it is going to do that. And why shouldn't one expect to be able to use the Scatter Brush feature to distribute Symbol Instances? The two features certainly should work hand-in-hand for a multitude of common practical situations, especially given Illustrator's lame inability to uniformly distribute Groups or Blends along a non-uniform path.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about when I point out that Illustrator's interface is so very poorly designed; that its features are very poorly integrated; and that the result is a dizzying plethora of scattered features that can't even do in combination what carefully-designed features commonly do in other programs in mere seconds.
Consider the comedy of errors represented above:
Blend makes no provision for uniform spacing along a path.
Illusrtrator provides no support for inline graphics.
Illustrator provides nothing to simply distribute a group of different objects along a path.
Blend does not give any warning that intermediate steps between different raster-containing Symbol Instances will not be interpolated. So what is a newcomer supposed to think when the results are a Blend with no intermedate steps, regardless of his settings?
By what logic does Scatter Brush not accommodate raster-containing Symbols? This is understandable for Pattern Brush, which envelope distorts it tiles, and Art Brush which stretches its content along the whole length of the spine path. But the options for Scatter Brush are nothing more than scaling, rotating and moving copies--which you can do with any Symbol anyway, even those containing raster elements.
Such comedies are so common in Illustrator that, well, it's not even funny.

Attached images dont show up. One has to select message -> alternate view to preview incoming attachements; if i send attachements to windows or mobile systems they dont show up at all. Is this a snow bug? does anyone know this issue and has a solution ready?

Please create a New User Account, and as that New User launch Mail and try setting up this IMAP email account. See the following if not familiar with adding a new user account (which I am sure you are):
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
The reason for doing this is to test the Mail app itself and the particular settings in the normal user account, and not to permanently switch to a new user account. Tell me if the behavior continues in that New User Account with Mail and these messages?

  • Placing images on a path

i have multiple images i want to place on a cruved path. how can i go about doing this?
    cheers,

I would draw the path and then turn on Smart Guides (CMD+U) to snap a particular point on the images along the path. See my attached screenshot. I did this with rectangles, but you could also use placed images. Then just delete the curved line when you are done using it for placement.

  • Wrong folder and files order when attaching image ...

    Hello everyone!
Long ago I noticed a bug in PC Suite: when you attach images to MMS message in PC Suite you would get a mixture of files and folder (folder, files, then again folders, again files, and - more surprising - also files from parent directory etc.) and you cannot get them normally sorted. No need to say that it is very inconvenient..
I am just wondering how much time would it take Nokia to eliminate this bug as it is still present in the latest version of PC Suite 7.1.30.9. (Phone - N82). Or maybe there is some solution?..
    Thanks.

Are you using the classic or newer version of Yahoo Mail!? I just tried adding an attachment in an email to myself & none of the pictures I used were grayed out. I am using the newer version of Yahoo Mail!
Have you tried restarting your computer?

When I attach images to an email they show as an image and not an icon.  Is there a way to have them attached as an icon?
When I send attachments this way some people can't save them.   They can see them but not save them.
    Any ideas?

They are received as attachments, i.e. icons. What you see is the real image on your disk, and only if small enough to be displayed. Otherwise, they are small icons inserted in the text.
Additionally, when you place an image in the message, you will find an option in the lower right corner, otherwise absent. Use it, if need be.

  • How can I forward an email and include the attached images?

I sent a client an email with attahced images (I attached the images, pictures I took).  The client responded with the images attached to the response.  When I try to forward that response to a third party the attached images become place holders only, no image.
Shouldn't my forwarded mail include the images?  Short of re-attaching the images how can I get them included in the forwarded email?

I tested a few I forwarded to myself and I could still forward with attachments. You might try Redirecting it (Message menu).

  • In Windows 7, how come my in-line attachment images on email can not be viewed/open in the email?

I have windows 7. Recently, after Moz upgrade, I noticed that emails with in-line attachments are either completely deleted, or only the name of the file in text is shown - not the image itself.
How can I re-set or change my settings to enable in-line attached images from the web (example .cid) be viewed? My plug-ins are all up to date (quick time, java, etc).

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes library
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows 7
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\iTunes\
... and open the iTunes library you find in there.

You are welcome.  Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available.  Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:).  They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though.  My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you.  All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos.  The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product.  I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back.  I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think.  I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP).  I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine.  I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there.  They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time.  Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming  Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.
Please feel free to contact me with further questions if you wish.
    Take care, Gordy

  • Attach images in Adobe Reader for iPAd

    Dear All,
In Actobat Reader for PC, we can attach images either using form with Button/Icon or Image Fields. Is there a way we can do the same thing in Adobe Reader for iPad?
    Thanks,

The iOS Adobe Reader does not support attaching images using form fields. Thanks for contacting us!

  • Adding attached images to iPhoto

The ability to add attached images to iPhoto from Mail by choosing Save and Add to iPhoto doesn't work.

It seems the link is broken.
You can just drag the photo to the iPhoto icon in the Dock until it gets fixed.
You could also Save the attachment to the Auto Import folder inside the iPhoto Library, but that's a bit difficult to get to unless you go in and create an alias somewhere convenient.

  • How can I manually attach images from my photo booth (imported into iPhoto) to emails? Auto function, in photo booth has my photos lying sideways?

How can I manually attach images from my photo booth to iCloud emails?
They are imported as 'events' into my iphoto library.
Auto function, in photo booth has my photos lying sideways when placed in 'mail' emails?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Making sure attached images and signatures appear in the body of sent email

The subject line says it all. I would like recipients of my mail to see the attachment/image or signature, within the body of the email where I have placed it.....or not if I so choose. Is this possible to control from the sender's end?....or is this also influenced by the receiver's mail settings and platform?
I know there are many posts that dance around this issue, but I have not found one that nails it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
    PowerBook 17" & G4 Quicksilver desktop   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Mail 1.3.11

The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF documents inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default. Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened (as with the Mail.app) or as attached files only for which the sender has no control over.
If the recipient's email client is not the Mail.app but displays image/photo attachments inline or viewed in place, the attachments may not appear exactly where you placed them.
The only way to do what you want or get as close as possible is by using HTML formatting with embedded images and/or objects and no Mail.app version includes an HTML composer/editor.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML which allows for forwarding a message received that was composed in HTML keeping all intact. With Tiger, you can use the HTML editor/composer of choice with embedded images/objects, etc. and save the completed document.
Open the saved HTML document with Safari and at the Safari menu bar, go to File and select Mail Contents of This Page. A new Mail.app message will be launched and the HTML document viewed with Safari will be copied to the message which will be sent in its entirety.
You cannot do this with Jaguar or Panther Mail.

  • Reference Images in Relative Path

Captivate 2 allows you to export the background images out
and then link them in so it is easier to update the images, but the
paths seem like they have to be absolute only. Is there a way to
use relative paths instead of the absolute path? I have several
projects that need to be localized into different languages and
this is one of the things that is not allowing us to effectively
use Captivate 2 for the project. Any help would be greatly
    appreciative.

    Hi again Hyp30
Okay, I have to ask you (and others) for a huge favor here.
You have hit upon something I strongly feel should be part of the
next version of Captivate. That typing layer. You are absolutely
correct that this item cannot be changed. Not only that, but if you
make a typo, Captivate also records that! Sooo, in my not so humble
    opinion, what would be
MUCH more useful to us is if the developers created a very
basic and very simple text animation we could use. Simple typing
text. Notice all the animations we have. 88 of those puppies I
think! Why we have fish nibbling characters away, letters flying
here and there. Yet no simple typing text. If that were available,
we could forego the typing layer and simply use an animation.
So, if anyone else feels as strongly about this as I do,
    please submit a request by
    clicking
here. I suggest this because until the development team hears
from enough folks, it's not likely to happen.
Now, for a suggestion. I'm not sure I'd simply reuse the same
movie for different localizations. If it were me, I'd maybe have a
project folder where the projects are stored. Then a folder for
each main project. Then I'd click File > Save As and have
multiple flavors of each project so I could keep the localizations
    separated.
    Cheers... Rick

  • ATTACHED IMAGES DON'T LOAD OR SHOW IN HOTMAIL BCCs TO MYSELF

I am currently running FF 3.6.18.
I have never had this problem before.
Worked fine up until Tuesday JUL. 19.
Whenever I send an email to someone w/ attached image files,
I always BCC myself to see that everything went through okay.
As of 2 days ago, the images/slideshow won't load or show up in the BCC to myself - in Firefox.
It says "Loading... If it's taking too long, click here" and if I click that, all I get is the clickable file names - but no actual images.
BUT the attached images DO show up in IE (which I NEVER use, lol).
Several people I've sent images to (in AOL and Yahoo, so far) CAN see the images - but they don't use Firefox.
Is this an MSN / Hotmail problem specifically?
I sent pics to a friend who also uses Firefox - he CANNOT see the attached images in his Hotmail, but he CAN see them in Yahoo.
    I am ... confused. :o
    thank you,
    June :)

I'm having the same problem on multiple computers, and multiple browsers - FF and Safari.
Would be interested to know if anyone has come across a solution to this problem.
Interestingly, it doesn't affect IE, which almost leads me to think that Microsoft have disabled this for use on other browsers on purpose...
