Attaching jpeg files

I have been mail for about three months. The only problem I have is attaching jpeg files. When I attach a jpeg file, the picture is show in the email and when I send this email to my friends who are using outlook express or Lotus Notes the picture is embedded in the email rather than as an attachment.
The only way they can get hold of the files is to highlight it and copy and paste into another application ie MSpaint.
Is there a way to attach jpeg files to when they get to the other end they are an attachment? All other types of files attach ok.
Thank you

Hello Simonhl.
You can select an image from, say iPhoto, drop it to the desk top and then drag it to your e-mail. That way image will be received as an attachment. Problem would be that you would need to check the file size of your image as it would be the same as the original in iPhoto-unless the recipient would want it that large, or could reduce it at their end. The image size of your attachment would be visible to you in the e-mail you are composing.

  • Can't attach JPEG file to a GMail message

When I try and attach a JPEG file as an attachment to an email on GMail it gives up after a minute and I get the message "attachment failed". Excel and Word files are fine - they work OK. Also JPEG files are fine when I attach them to a an email in GMail when using IE - but not with Firefox 3.6.10. Help please!!

The new document format doesn't always work well with Gmail and other services. How about emailing an iCloud link?
You could also try "zipping" the document and then attaching that.

  • I have a jpeg signature for a signature in Mail account. When I attach another file to the email and se nd it to a Windows -operated recipient, my signature becomes an attachment as well and only the body of the email message is left.

I have a jpeg I have added for a profeesional look to my signature in my Mail acount. When I attach other files to the message and send the message to a Widows-user recipient, the signature is no no seen as a signature and simply becomes an attachment with the email.
What can I do to stop this happening. Thanks

File menu "Attach Files..." then Tick off "Windows-friendly Attachment".

  • I'm trying to send a jpeg file as an attachment and not embeded in the body of email

How do I send a jpeg file as an attachment and not embeded in the body of the email.

In addition to what etresoft says...
if you prefer not to see the contents of your attachments embedded in your email...
Open Terminal in Applications>Utilities and paste this in. Then hit return.
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 1
To reverse the setting, change the 1 to a 0.

    Hi,
Please convert your JPEG files to PDF file using "Convert to PDF" tool at https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html or Adobe Reader X or Reader XI(using Tools >CreatePDF).
After converting the file please download it to your computer then attach it in your email.

  • Get error message "this "**" file cannot be attached until the files already attached are finished uploading" even when attaching 1 file

I attached multiples .pdf files to an email. Tried to attach the next file before the previous 1 finished attaching. Got error message "this "**" file cannot be attached until the files already attached are finished uploading". Was never able to attach that 1 file to the email that I received the error message for; was able to attach subsequent files to that same email & send it. Now, I often get the same error message, even if I only attach 1 file & esp. when attaching .ai or .jpeg files. What can I do to fix this problem?

It looks like nobody has an answer for this despite of the 80 something views!
And here i thought Adobe admin would be monitoring the forum, but surprisingly, they don't even have the answer for this!!!

  • Why isn't .jfif not listed in the JPEG file extensions (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe) Photoshop Elements 12

    Problem:  Corrupt JEPG files.
    Software:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12
Story: On my website I have the option to sell files as instant downloads.  I upload JEPG 300dpi images of my artwork for people to purchase is a download.  I have done this on Etsy for several years without a problem.
The problem began when I setup a website using Weebly, an online build your own website company.  I upload the same files I have used in the past, but when I do a test purchase and download my file it is corrupt.  I get an error message in Photoshop Elements that the file is corrupt or missing information.  If I let Photoshop open the file, the file it is only half there or lines through the image.
I have been working with a Weebly tech to solve the problem.  I sent him the file I wanted to upload.  He opened the file on his computer and saved it.  Then uploaded to my site, I downloaded it and the file was fine a perfectly clear 300 pdi JPEG file.  We were confused.  After a few more tests he mentioned he did not have Photoshop and was using Microsoft Paint (light bulb) to open and save the files. His files worked, mine did not.
So I tried opening my files in Paint and saving them in that JEPG format and they work.  The only difference i can see between Paints JEPG save option and Photoshops Save Function is that Paint includes the .jfif extension.
Question:  Should this make a difference?  if so can I add the file extention to Photoshop's list of file types that I can save?
    Thanks
    Mark

Thank you I will check it out.  I am not sure what information is attached to picture files, but the same file saved in Microsoft Paint works in my situation and the Photoshop file will not. The only difference is Paint supports.jfif and photoshop does not.  I might want to go the other way jpg to jififs. or save with to jepg with software that supports jfifs.

  • Question on sending JPEG Files as attachments in MAIL

It seems that no matter what method I try for attaching an actual JPEG file to an email in Mail, I end up sending the image, not the actual file. Is there a trick to doing this I have not found yet, or does Mail under Leopard only send images? Document and Spreadsheet files work just fine, it's only the image files that are a problem.

Do not confuse View in Place with embedding. The image files that View in Place as you Compose and Send are in fact true attachments. However, it is best to send to some PC users only in Plain Text when sending attachments.

  • Opening word, excel, pdf, jpeg files as attachments on iphones

I've always been able to open word, excel, pdf & jpeg files as attachments on my iphone 5.  But recently, everytime I tried to open one of these, the file image turned up all grey, and in the case of jpeg files, it just kept on loading, loading & loading, but never finished loading ...  It seems like this happened after I updated to IOS 6.1.4 recently...  This is just a guess.  Could anyone help me with this?  Thank you.

    Srinivas,
Thank you for your reply. It helped me get to a solution. In essence I needed to copy the Unix file to an internal table and then save it to the end user's PC file. Then I am able to open the document / attachment.
I created a new function to:
    1) call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_browse,  to ask the end user to pick a PC directory to copy the Unix file attachment to.
    2) Then  using the following code, copy the Unix file (as determined by application or user) to an internal table. Note that the line is not limited by a certain length.
      types: begin of t_tab,
              line type string,
             end of t_tab.
      data: k_wa_itab type t_tab,
t_it_itab type standard table of t_tab.
open dataset v_unixfilename for input in binary mode.
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
        raise unix_filename_read_error.
      endif.
      do.
        read dataset v_unixfilename into k_wa_itab-line.
        if sy-subrc <> 0.
          exit.
        endif.
        append k_wa_itab to t_it_itab.
      enddo.
      close dataset v_unixfilename.
    3) Using call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download, save the contents of the internal table to the PC directory from step 1 above.
    4) Open the Attachment from the end users PC via:
    call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
It seems like a long way to get this to work, but it is working. If there is a better way maybe someone else can fill in the blanks. Ideally a tool to read and open from a file from Unix without using the cl_gui_frontend_services would be ideal.

  • Anyone know how to send a jpeg file to Windows via Mail without it being embedded into the receivers email

The plain text feature in Mail application does not seem to be working. I noticed this when I send jpg attachments to Windows machines, the receiver gets the attached jpg file embedded in their email and they have no way to save the jpg image. This type of behaviour is normal when when sending rich text emails to Windows machines, but selecting plain text used to eliminate this problem in Snow Leopard.
I have 'always send window-friendly attachemnts' selected.
I spoke to Apple about this and they say it was designed this way.
Can you tell me how I can send jpeg images from Lion to Windows machines so that they can save and reomve the file from their email application?

Perhaps the boolean expression isn't working because it needs to be all caps: YES instead of yes
In any case, a simple 1 or 0 works just fine for me without -bool:
The command to disable in-line attachments (all attachments appear as icons)
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 1
To command to (re-)enable in-line attachments once disabled (all attachments appear as images or documents displayed in-line)
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 0
Also, when composing a new message with an attachment, be certain that 'Send Windows-Friendly Attachments' is checkmarked at the bottom of the new message screen:

  • 'Read JPEG File.vi' does not seem to work on PXI with real-time OS

I am trying to read a jpeg file on a PXI system with LabVIEW real-time on it. To test I created a very simple VI (attached) with only 4 objects: 'Path' --> 'Read JPEG File.vi' --> 'Draw Flattened Pixmap.vi' --> 'Picture'.
This VI works fine on my Windows XP host machine, but it does not work on the PXI system. The error code 1 occurs in 'Read JPEG File.vi'.
The jpeg picture is in the same directory as the VI. I don't think I got the path or filename wrong because if I change the file or path name I get another error: 7: 'File/Directory Info in Check Path.vi->Read JPEG File.vi->test.vi'.
Maybe reading jpeg files is not supported on realtime systems? I could not find anything about it. Sol
utions or workarounds are of course welcome!

'Read JPEG File.vi' is not supported on LabVIEW RT. I believe it has to do with special functions or libraries need to be called due to the JPEG image type. Instead you can use a Bitmap and the 'Read BMP File.vi', which I believe is completely implemented in G code.
Keep in mind that the RT System doesn't really have a front panel and that the front panel is only 'available' when LabVIEW is connected to the target such as being targeted or having a remote panel to it. Generally, a deployed RT system doesn't have a UI and just communicates to a Host VI which acts as the UI. Having said that, the BMP file worked when I tested.

  • Best practice to develop & keyword Jpeg files - Use of virtual copies

There is no sidecar file attached to Jpeg file and I understand all modification on the Jpeg slightly deterioriate the file quality.
Therefore, is it advisable to use vitual copies for all modifications?
Would use use them for trial and errors procedure, then apply whatever settings retained to the Jpeg file?
Or would it be better to leave the original Jpeg altogether untouched and stick to the virtual copy once modified?
What about keywords applied at several stages before and after usig the develop module.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Would you advise to store the metadata in  the file itself IN ADDITION to where they are located in the catalog?
    How to proceed?
Would it make a difference in the export process?
Storing metadata in the file itself is a good idea if you ever think you might share the photo with others, or with another application (other than Lightroom). And I think almost everyone will be doing one of these things at some point.
You would want to turn on the option that automatically stores the metadata in xmp. Edit > Catalog Settings > Metadata, check the box that says Automatically Write Changes into XMP
Would it make a difference in the export process? Probably unnoticeable fractions of a second.
